ALL MY CHILDREN

APRIL 22, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Mia: Adam wants you declared mentally incompetent?

Liza: He's going to take Colby.
Mia: Adam loves you. He would never, ever do anything like that to you.

Leo: Vanessa's not going to come after you or anybody else anymore. You don't have to be afraid.

Kendall: Now your motives are crystal clear.
Ryan: Forget about the bed. We're going to have a good time, I'm going to make you laugh a little bit, and then we'll go home.

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[Ryan and Kendall kiss passionately but - Ryan suddenly stops]
Kendall: What? What, what? What is it?
Ryan: We can't do this

Adam: I know it's shocking. It seems unspeakably that Liza could be incompetent.
Mia: Try unthinkable.
Adam: It's absolutely necessary.
Mia: Oh, for Liza's own good?
Adam: Yes. You've gotten close to her. She talks to you. You'll make an excellent witness.
Mia: You really think I would do that to my own sister?
Adam: There are reasons.
Mia: You're a piece of work. Liza was right to --
Adam: Liza what? Mia, what's going on? What did Liza say to you?

Trey: Greenlee? You'd probably feel better if you stopped.
Greenlee: What?
Trey: Thinking about Leo.
Greenlee: I can't help it. And I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't come down on him anymore.
Trey: His mother is an out-of-control criminal mastermind --
Greenlee: You should know.
Trey: Who targeted you. That's the only reason that I think you should steer clear of Leo. I've nothing against the guy personally.

David: I don't mind us trying to figure out who drugged Vanessa, but I do not want to protect her.
Anna: We are dealing with her.
David: No, I want her out of my life.
Anna: No, not until we find out who set you up.
Leo: I've had it. I'm going to make her talk to me.
David: Leo --
Leo: I don't care how crazy she is. I'm going to go in there, I'm going to find out who's really after her. Can I get a guard?

Greenlee: You know what's weird? In spite of your whacked-out client, I trust you.
Trey: The law says I have to look out for Mrs. Courtlandt's best interests. That's all I'm doing.

[Trey thinks about giving Vanessa the shot of Libidozone AND zapping Leo with the stun gun]
Vanessa: Doctor? Doctor -- oh! Oh!

Leo: Mother, it's Leo. Listen to me. Hey. Somebody drugged you.
Vanessa: Yeah --
Leo: Yeah.
Vanessa: Yeah, I was drugged. Yes. Some -- someone believes me.
Leo: So, you do know what happened?
Vanessa: Know who did it? Who's out to get me?

Trey: I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy, so I'm thinking steak and -- hey. You were drifting again.
Greenlee: I'm sorry. My mind just wandered for a minute.
Trey: Do you really trust Leo?
Greenlee: I don't think that's any of your business.
Trey: Do you really believe that he won that money at the track?
Greenlee: I asked you not to put him down.
Trey: I'm just clarifying a point.
Greenlee: Leo says that's what happened. I have no reason not to believe him.
Trey: Could be Vanessa's drug money.
Greenlee: No.
Trey: Really?
Greenlee: Leo would never use that money, and I resent you for even suggesting it.
Trey: Ok. Just steak and I'll have those little green --
Greenlee: I know Leo. He hates what his mother did.
Trey: He says.
Greenlee: You don't even know him. What do you have against him?
Trey: Nothing. Actual, I feel sorry for the guy. I mean, let's face it. You can't blame Leo for being ethically challenged.
Greenlee: And you're in a position to judge that?
Trey: I'm no angel, ok? But I do feel lucky because I have something to hold on to, while Leo seems a little lost.

Leo: Ok, listen, go back in your mind, ok, step by step.
Vanessa: Whoa -- man came in the room. No doctor, no nurse.
Leo: What did this person do?
Vanessa: Well, he had a needle. Had a -- they came toward me. I tried to scream.
Leo: Ok.
Vanessa: The needle went in.
Leo: Yeah, and they injected you with the drug.
Vanessa: Yeah.
Leo: Hey, hey, don't give up.
Vanessa: Yeah.
Leo: Come on, don't give up.
Vanessa: Well, I couldn't -- I couldn't -- it's so blurry. Couldn't see.
Leo: Ok, try harder.
Vanessa: Well -- yes, it was a man. I know --
Leo: Ok, that's --
Vanessa: It was a man.
Leo: That's not going to be enough, ok? Was he tall? Was he short? What was he dressed like? What did he look like? Vanessa: I don't know.
Leo: You have to remember something! Come on!
Vanessa: Well, I can't. It was -- I can't. It was --
Leo: Just never mind. Forget it.
Vanessa: Will you come back?
Leo: Just try to remember what happened. Oh, this woman, man.

David: Well?
Leo: Ok, this is going to stun you. It was a man.
David: That's all you got?
Leo: Yeah. Remind me never to go into law enforcement.
Anna: I'll remind you. Well, I guess we can look on the bright side. That eliminates half of Pine Valley, including yours truly. Anyway --
David: Well, look, obviously we're not getting anything else accomplished here, so why don't we get out of here.
Leo: All right. Let's go get something to eat.

Mia: What Liza said to me is between us.
Adam: Normally, I would respect that, but there are reasons why you need to tell me.
Mia: Adam, I know how you work, ok?
Adam: I'm not working anything.
Mia: Look, you're probably recording this whole conversation so you can use it at her hearing.
Adam: Did you get that idea from her? Is that what Liza thinks of me, that I would try to trap her like this? My God, how did we get here?
Mia: Stop the act.
Adam: I am trying to understand why my wife is terrified of me.
Mia: I'm sorry, I can't help you.
Adam: I've seen her face. She looks at me, there's terror in her eyes. Everything I do is wrong.
Mia: And you're trying to help her by having her committed? Do you really think she buys that?
Adam: Then she knows.
Mia: Yes. And you're wondering why she's frightened of you. They took a tumor out of her brain, not her entire brain.
Adam: I'm not trying to hurt her, I'm trying to save her.
Mia: Oh, and I'm supposed to believe that? You know what, Adam? There's nothing wrong with my brain, either.
Adam: Do you think I want to involve you in this? I hate asking help from anyone for anything.
Mia: Then don't.
Adam: I have to. For her sake. This is not for me. I'm doing this for Liza.

Kendall: We can't do this?
Ryan: I just can't get out of my head, you know, you being afraid of this -- of, you know, this.
Kendall: Ryan, I'm ok.
Ryan: You're ok.
Kendall: Yeah.
Ryan: See, you know that I, like, I didn't -- I didn't have a plan, like I didn't bring you up here, like, with a plan to --
Kendall: I know. I know a setup when I see one. Besides, we settled the whole setup thing downstairs. I'm fine.
Ryan: So you're all together?
Kendall: Totally.
Ryan: You know you don't have to be cool with me, right? I don't want you to pretend. I want you to tell me --
Kendall: Ryan?
Ryan: Yeah?
Kendall: Do you remember what you said on Myrtle's porch?
Ryan: Yeah.
Kendall: You were right. We talk way too much.
[Ryan and Kendall make love]
[Music plays]
Ryan: You ok?
Kendall: Yeah.
Ryan: Yeah.

Adam: Mia, I know it's difficult for people to understand what Liza and I have together.
Mia: Adam, it's none of my business.
Adam: I love her. I always will, no matter what. I will do anything to protect her.
Mia: And having her declared incompetent does that?
Adam: There's money missing from Chandler Enterprises. A lot of money. And it disappeared during Liza's watch.
Mia: So she made a mistake. I mean, that happens in businesses, right?
Adam: No, no, no, no. No, not that much money. This is not a bad judgment call or an accounting glitch.
Mia: It's really serious?
Adam: The stockholders and the SEC are beginning to ask questions.
Mia: So, is that as bad as it sounds?
Adam: There are threats of lawsuits, possible criminal prosecution.
Mia: So what do you mean here? Are you talking, like, a trial and jail time?
Adam: Yeah, it's quite possible. That's why I need to have Liza declared incompetent -- to protect her from those charges.
Mia: I -- I didn't realize.
Adam: If I could just find the funds that are missing, I could make this all go away. But I can't. And that leaves me no choice.
Mia: What -- if this is for real, I mean, why haven't you told Liza?
Adam: Well, come on. Liza's terrified of me. You've seen how fragile she is. She doesn't trust me to hold her hand.
Mia: Maybe if she knew that you were trying to help her, if she knew what you were doing and if you were with her on this --
Adam: I don't think Liza knows what she's done. And I don't think that she would knowingly jeopardize her future with Colby.
Mia: No.
Adam: If I could just locate those damn funds and replace them. That's why I'm asking for your help. I -- I know what you're thinking. I have no right to ask anything of you.
Mia: That's not what I'm thinking.
Adam: You know, when I -- I was afraid we'd lost or were going to lose Liza, I kept thinking about Colby, how we would tell her. What do you say to a little girl? How do you explain that her mother's not coming home again?
Mia: I don't know.
Adam: She's so close to Liza. I don't know what happens to a kid when they lose that much. I don't know how you can ever make it right again.

[Doorbell rings]
Adam: Jake, what is it? Is it Liza?
Jake: Liza's fine. I'm looking for Mia.
Adam: This isn't a very good time.
Jake: Mia.
Jake: What the hell did you do to her?

Trey: I feel like I brought you down.
Greenlee: It's not your fault I'm still hung up on my ex-fiancé.
Trey: Oh, in that case, could we try this again? I'd like a chance to make it up to you.
Greenlee: I'd like that.
Trey: Ok. We're out of here.
Trey: Let's go.
[Anna, David and Leo walk in]
Leo: Greenlee, wait.
Anna: Um, I don't think I'm really that hungry anymore.
David: Yeah, I know what you mean. Look, why don't we order upstairs, ok?
Anna: Yeah, ok.
Leo: Uh-huh, all right.
Anna: Good night.
Trey: Don't do anything you don't want to do, Greenlee. You don't owe this guy anything.
Leo: Can I just talk to you for a second? It's important.
Greenlee: You go ahead, ok? I've got my car, I can drive myself home.
Trey: If that's what you want.
Greenlee: It is. Thanks.
Trey: Good night.

Leo: I'm glad you told that jerk to leave because I want to be totally honest with you.
Greenlee: Leo, don't, ok? Please don't do this.

[Kendall is crying]
Kendall: I have to stop doing this.
Ryan: You're allowed.
Kendall: Talk about feeling dumb.
Ryan: Hey, I know where you're coming from.
Kendall: You couldn't.
Ryan: Oh, yeah, I could. I have been shut down now for a long time.
Kendall: Because of your wife?
Ryan: Yeah. After she died, I guess the goal was pretty much zombie mode.
Kendall: Well, it's safe.
Ryan: Yeah. It is. But then after a while, you -- you --
Kendall: You get so used to being closed off, you think that's all there is for you.
Ryan: And you think you can go through life sleepwalking. But then somebody came along and caught me off guard.
Kendall: Oh, really?
Ryan: Yeah, really. And she moved in right next door.
Kendall: Oh. Was she this really obnoxious girl?
Ryan: She was this really obnoxious girl, and she played her music so incredibly loud -- the worst music I've ever heard in my life, by the way.
Kendall: Well, that's a bummer for you.
Ryan: Not really. Nah.
Kendall: Oh, yeah?
Ryan: I couldn't sleepwalk through you, Kendall. I tried my best, but you woke me up.

Adam: You can't just come barging into my house!
Jake: I want to know what you did to Mia.
Adam: Nothing, damn it.
Mia: He didn't, Jake, really. I'm just kind of upset about Liza right now.
Jake: All right, could I have a minute alone with Mia, please?
Adam: Yeah. I'll -- I have to go upstairs and say good night to Colby.

Jake: Are you really ok? Was he bothering you?
Mia: No, I'm fine. What are you doing here?
Jake: I'm checking up on you because you seemed pretty shaky earlier.
Mia: Well, you know, it's a shaky time. I'm sorry I worried you.
Jake: This has got to be rough having to hang out around here.
Mia: I want to be here.
Jake: Mia, I know that you want to be taking care of Colby, but having to spend so much time with Adam Chandler -- that can't be easy.
Mia: No, I'm just concerned about Liza, you know? Other than that, everything is ok.
Jake: You're talking to me. I know this has to be totally overwhelming for you.
Mia: Jake, I wanted this, yor know? It took a long time for Liza to accept me, and I had to work really hard for that. And I'm glad I did.
Jake: I'm hearing a "but" in there somewhere.
Mia: Well, I just didn't know that having a sister meant that I had all of her problems, too. I mean, I want to take care of Liza and Colby. I really do. I just -- I just -- I don't know if I can.
Jake: You know what? I think it's time someone started taking good care of you.

[Ticking]
Vanessa: Stop it. Stop it!
Distorted voice: Tick-tock, tick-tock, Vanessa. Time's running out.
Vanessa: I'm not listening to you!
Distorted voice: Money? Where is it, Vanessa?
You have to tell me.
[Trey is shown talking into a device that changes his voice]
Trey: Wait until you see what I have for you next, Vanessa.

Ryan: Hey. What are you thinking?
Kendall: How nice it would be if this could last. I mean, you and me being happy for a while. What a concept.
Ryan: You mean, like we could actually spend some more time together without killing each other?
Kendall: Hey, I'm not asking for your class ring here.
Ryan: What? No, no, no, no, no, I didn't mean it like that.
Kendall: I told you you don't have to stick around till the morning.
Ryan: I -- I was kidding.
Kendall: I told you I know the score.
Ryan: Would you stop, please? I was joking. It was a joke. Please don't let it ruin this, all right? Please. Please, please, please?
Kendall: Ok, all right. Sorry. Sorry, I shouldn't have jumped like that.
Ryan: I think we're beyond the "killing each other" phase, don't you?
Kendall: Well, then where are we?
Ryan: I don't know. There's got to be something in between "not sticking around till morning" and "happily ever after."
Kendall: Don't look at me. In case you haven't noticed, this is not my best event.
Ryan: Really? You could've fooled me. I think you're doing just fine.
Kendall: Right back at you. So?
Ryan: So?
Kendall: So, what do we call this?
Ryan: What do we call this? I think -- hmm. I think we're who we are, where we are. No labels, you know?
Kendall: Ok.
Ryan: That doesn't really sound ok.
Kendall: Sure it is.
Ryan: Ok. Let's keep this real simple, all right? What's your best event?
Kendall: I don't understand that.
Ryan: Ok, wait. There's got to be something that you like to do, something that you like to do. You know, we'll make a plan and then we'll just -- we'll do it.
Kendall: Just like that?
Ryan: Yeah, just like that. And then you make another plan and we'll do that, and we'll just keep making plans step by step. We'll take it like that, a day at a time.
Kendall: Well, that's simple.
Ryan: Simple, right?
Kendall: Yeah.
Ryan: Ok, so you pick first.
Kendall: Oh, God. Ok, I guess it has to be something that healthy, happy people do. You know what?
Ryan: What?
Kendall: Actually, there is something that I've always wanted to do that I've never done.
Ryan: All right, tell me. Tell me.
Kendall: It's corny.
Ryan: Good. Corny can be good. Corny works for me.
Kendall: I've never been on a picnic with a guy.
Ryan: A picnic?
Kendall: A picnic! You know, checkered tablecloth, deviled eggs, a straw basket. It's corny! Never mind. Forget I said it. It's stupid.
Ryan: No, no, you know what? I like it. I like it a lot. I like it because it answers the big question -- where are we? What are we? We're not an item. Well, we're picnicking. Know what I'm saying?
Kendall: We're picnicking.
Ryan: Right?
Kendall: I like that.
Ryan: Good.
Kendall: Now, I don't want to leave this bed for a long time.
Ryan: Well, you're not going to. Come here.

Jake: So are you going to tell me what's really going on around here that's got you so upset?
Mia: It's just that Liza and Adam are like these two huge forces of nature, both moving in opposite directions.
Jake: Well, most people pull together when they're going through something like this.
Mia: Well, I've gotten that Adam and Liza are not most people.
Jake: Leaving you where?
Mia: Confused. Completely in the middle. I'm freaked out.
Jake: Word of advice -- if you have to make a choice, don't trust Adam. Ever.

[Meanwhile, in Anna and David's room]
Anna: Ok, so we're looking for someone who is out to get Vanessa, and --
David: Well, that should cover about half the Pine Valley phone book.
Anna: Right. But serious enough to drug her. And, double whammy, use Libidozone to frame you. So that narrows it down a bit -- not. What, do I have something in my teeth? I know. I have it.
David: No. Your chin.
Anna: What is it?
David: You're amazing, you know that?
Anna: What brilliant deed have I done now?
David: You went to the mat for me with the DA -- and, well, pretty much everyone.
Anna: Oh, my goodness. You know, I think going to the mat with Jackson is going to be a bit of a hobby of mine.
David: And now you're trying to prove that I was framed, which might become another hobby for you.
Anna: Yeah. That's my job, isn't it? See that justice is done.
David: Give me a break, Mrs. Hayward!
Anna: Whoo!
David: I'm trying to have a warm moment here.
Anna: Oh, sorry I missed it.
David: You've really been there for me, more than anybody ever has.
Anna: I think that's what's called being married.
David: You know, I really like the fact that we had more going for us than just the game.
Anna: Yeah, me, too. We're a hell of a team, you know.
Anna: Whoo!
[David and Anna roll on the bed]
David: Ow, ow!
Anna: What is it?
David: Dinner roll?
Anna: Gee, I thought you were just happy to see me.

Greenlee: This isn't easy for me.
Leo: I know.
Greenlee: I mean all of it, not just running into you tonight.
Leo: Look, I didn't plan this.
Greenlee: But you came up to me, and you keep coming up to me and it just makes it worse.
Leo: That's the last thing that I want to do. But when I saw you at Oak Haven --
Greenlee: That was just something I needed to do.
Leo: Well, the look, your reaction -- it was scary when --
Greenlee: I just needed to see her locked up. Now maybe I can sleep at night.
Leo: You're not sleeping?
Greenlee: Yes. I mean, no. I mean -- sometimes I get a little restless.
Leo: And you kick the covers off and the sheets get all wrinkled, so you get up and walk around the apartment till the sun comes up, right?
Greenlee: Ahem -- I'm handling it.
Leo: I hate it that you're scared and that you're hurting. And I really hate it that there's nothing that I can do to help you.
Greenlee: Yeah.
Leo: And I meant it when I said that you should call Jake. Where is he, anyway?
Greenlee: Jake won't even return my calls. Ahem.
Leo: Oh. So Chip's filling in?
Greenlee: His name is Trey.
Leo: And he's Jake's new replacement, right?
Greenlee: He's a good person.
Leo: Ok, well, as long as -- as long as he's looking out for you.
Greenlee: He is.

Trey: [Distorted voice] Tell me where the money is, Vanessa.
Vanessa: You go away! You just leave me alone! You leave me alone! You leave me alone!
Trey: Tell me what I want to know. Tell me now.
Vanessa: Come on, somebody -- somebody help me! Somebody help me! Oh, please!

[Trey goes into Vanessa's room]
Trey: [Normal voice] Take it easy, Vanessa. I'm here. I'm here.
Vanessa: No! No! No! No! No!
Trey: I'm here, I'm here. I won't let anybody hurt you.

Mia: You're wrong about Adam.
Jake: I know the man.
Mia: Well, so do I. I had the full shark treatment when I came here.
Jake: All right, and your reason for trusting him would be?
Mia: He has a softer side.
Jake: Mia, do you know how many women in this town have been taken in by Adam Chandler's softer side?
Mia: You just don't see the good in him because you have history with him.
Jake: Well, you ever hear of history repeating itself?
Mia: He's hurting so much. I've seen it.
Jake: Mia, you've seen what he wants you to see.
Mia: He loves Liza and Colby.
Jake: I give him that. But it's when Adam Chandler loves people -- that's when he does the most damage.
Mia: Well, I wanted a family, and Adam's in this one, and I'm not going to turn my back on any of it.
Jake: All right. All right, all right, it's your call. Just be careful.
Mia: I know. I promise. Come on. You should go before he comes back.
Jake: You have my phone number. I want you to use it if you need me, ok?
Mia: I'm fine. Go.
Jake: All right.

Mia: Oy-oy-oy.
Adam: I think you should know that you were included in Colby's prayers tonight.
Mia: Wow. I made the list?
Adam: You heard about the list?
Mia: Oh, yeah, yeah. It's a big deal to be on Colby's list. I mean, I was there when Rachel Whitaker's dog got the cut.
Adam: Yes, well, you have officially been ranked above Sparky.
Mia: I rule. Thanks for telling me.
Adam: You should feel invincible. Colby's convinced that if she asks God to bless somebody, it will be done. Wouldn't it be great if we could still believe like that?
Mia: Adam, I've made up my mind. I will help you with Liza.
Adam: You won't be sorry. Mia: I'm not promising that I'm going to help you have her declared incompetent, but I'll do what I can.
Adam: Ok. Well, to quote my daughter, "God bless Aunt Mia."

Vanessa: And someone's trying to drive me crazy, and nobody believes me.
Trey: I do, I do. I'm on your side.
Vanessa: Well --
you believe me? Trey: Yes. Yes, and I want to help you.
Vanessa: Thank you.
Trey: Tell me who was here today. Who was with you?
Vanessa: David was outside. Leo came in and he talked to me.
Trey: David and Leo. I was afraid of that. Vanessa, I'm the only person you can trust.
Vanessa: I know.
Trey: I'm being paid to protect you, and right now you need protection.
Vanessa: Well, not from Leo.
Trey: I can take care of it. But you have to sign over your power of attorney to me, and then -- then you can tell me everything.
Vanessa: Everything? Well --
Trey: You can tell me everything -- all your secrets, anything you didn't tell the police or your sons.
Vanessa: No --
Trey: We have attorney/client privilege. Anything you tell me is safe.
Vanessa: No. No.
Trey: Vanessa --
Vanessa: No, I have to tell Leo! I trust Leo with my secrets.

Leo: Well, I guess I should go.
Greenlee: Yeah.
Leo: I hope that -- I don't want to make this any harder for you, Greenlee.
Greenlee: I know. Thanks.
Leo: And I really want you to take care of yourself.
Greenlee: I am.
Leo: Ok, and I don't want you to push everything under the rug and take on a million projects at Enchantment just so you don't have to think about it, either.
Greenlee: You know me so well.
Leo: Well, it's one of the few things in life I do have down cold.
[Leo sighs]
Greenlee: Well, I guess I'll see you.
Greenlee: Leo --
Leo: Yeah?
Greenlee: You take care of yourself, too.

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Trey: Is that an invitation for me to step into the ring with Leo?

Bianca: I want you to find Greenlee and tell her that you want her back.

Mia: I want you to accept that I'm calling the shots.

Ryan: I like waking up with you.
Kendall: Me, too.
