ALL MY CHILDREN

AUGUST 13, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Edmund: There you are. Feels like I’ve been waiting for you forever.

Trey: Greenlee. What are you doing here? Nothing's been touched. I'm going to find that money, Leo.

Kendall: You want me so bad, you can taste it.

TODAY’S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[Thunder]
Trey: All right, then, what to do with this. It's got to be in a much safer place before my local Mata Hari and her tall, goofy sidekick come around for more snooping.
[Knock on door]
Rebecca: Trey? I know you're there. Open up. Come on, please, let me in.

Brooke: Tres elegant.
Edmund: It's all for you.
Brooke: I thought you'd gone. I thought you had flown off to look for --
Edmund: Oh, no, no, no. Hey, Brooke, I told you, I don't have to look for anyone. You're the person I want to share my life with. Don't you know that?
Brooke: Yes, I really do know that, Edmund.
Edmund: The woman I love is right here. There isn't anyone else on this earth I want to be with.
Brooke: You always know what I need.
Edmund: A toast -- to reunions at the Pine Cone.

Maria: Oh, my God. What am I doing? I'm standing outside hotel rooms listening to strangers, that's what I'm doing.
[Maria remembers]
Aidan's voice: And don't open the door to anybody else, ok? I'm on my way.
Maria: That was four hours ago! I don't know what I'm doing here. What am I even doing here? I should have listened to David.
[Phone rings]
David: Hello?
Maria: David.
David: Where have you been? I've been waiting for you to get back to me.
Maria: I am in terrible, terrible trouble. I made a big mistake.
David: All right. Calm down. Whatever it is, just tell me where you are and I'll fix it.
Maria: No, you can't fix this. You can't fix it.
David: Of course I can. Haven't I always?
Anna: Hurry up.
Maria: David? David, are you still there?
David: Yes, of course I am. And I'd love to go over those results with you again, but it's going to have to wait. I'll get back to you.
Maria: No, no, no, no! You can't get back to me because I don't have my cell phone!
[Dial tone]

Maria: I don't have my cell phone! You can't help me, David. I'm all alone.

Edmund: Did you hear that?
Brooke: What?
Edmund: There's something weird going on across the way. I think I should check it out.
Brooke: What? Are you kidding?
Edmund: No, no, just -- before you got here, when I was setting up, it sounded like there was a woman moaning.
Brooke: Honey, it's that kind of motel.
Edmund: No, not that kind of moaning. No, it sounded like she was in pain.
Brooke: You're going to be in pain if you leave me right now. Come here.

Rebecca: Trey, your car's outside. You got to be there. What could have happened? Well, I guess I'm going to -- unless you're hurt, or -- should I call somebody to let me in? What's his landlady's name? Smythe. Greenlee Smythe. Oh, thank God. I was just going to get your landlady.
Trey: Oh, I must have fallen asleep.
Rebecca: I knew that you were there because you said you were just coming home to sign a lease.
Trey: Yeah, I was just doing some work. I must have been much more tired than I thought.
Rebecca: Really? You were so full of energy earlier. Oh, I love your place.
Trey: Uh, thank you.
Rebecca: I'm glad I came. You left so suddenly. I was hoping that you'd call.
Trey: Well, I didn't want to wake you.
Rebecca: Well, I was up, just thinking about you and wondering if you were done with your business and if we could pick up where we left off.
Trey: I would love that. But I -- I have to finish these briefs.
Rebecca: Now?
Trey: Well, you know, everything for the client. You know how it is. Why don't we meet up after work tomorrow? We'll make a night of it.
Rebecca: I'm going to hold you to that.
Trey: I'll be all yours. I can't wait. Until then.
Rebecca: Well -- well, the thing is I didn't think that I was going to be using my car anymore tonight, so I cabbed it over here.
Trey: And you need a ride home. I can run an errand after I drop you off. Let me just get my keys.
Rebecca: Maybe you could run your errand on the way and then you could come up for a nightcap.
Trey: Not this time, Rebecca.

Aidan: What the hell was that for?
Kendall: You think I really wanted to kiss you?
Aidan: Well, we were two seconds away from doing it right here on this floor when a minute ago you were talking about losing your -- your boyfriend.
Kendall: It never would've happened.
Aidan: Oh, really? You're in total control the whole time, huh?
Kendall: You're just so superior, aren't you?
Aidan: You make it easy.
Kendall: You wish. What about that babe you've got stashed away at the Pine Cone?
Aidan: I told you before, forget about her.
Kendall: Hmm, sounds like she's someone really special. She's that special someone, isn't she?
Aidan: You're pathetic. You're immature and you're pathetic.
Kendall: Maybe I should pay her a visit. I'm a Pine Cone graduate, you know. I could show her how to work the new ice machine, maybe tell her exactly what a two-timing jerk she's shacking up with.
Aidan: Well, you do, and you'll regret it. I promise.
Kendall: My God, the veins are about to pop out of your forehead. This woman -- this woman's not some chick that you picked up and decided to reform. She must be somebody really interesting, somebody really important like the great love of your life.
Aidan: And what if she is, Kendall?
Kendall: Well, it would serve you right after what you've done to me tonight.
Aidan: You're just a useless waste of space. No wonder --
Kendall: No wonder what?
Aidan: What everyone says about you is true. You're not worth it.
Kendall: Ok, go ahead, join the "go to hell, Kendall" club. Everyone else has. No wonder Ryan dumped me, right? How could anyone possibly want to be with me?
Aidan: Yeah, you're right.
Kendall: You know what, if you think I’m going to waste one second of my time worrying about what you think of me, I will let you know.
Aidan: Oh.
Kendall: Wait a minute, I'm not done.
I'm not done.
Aidan: Oh, really? Well, I am. And don't think for a second that you're going to be staying here tonight.
Kendall: Me? Staying here?
Aidan: Yeah, you, staying here. You know, you're homeless.
Kendall: I will let you know that I have a place to stay. I have a roommate.
Aidan: Oh, really? And what poor sucker did you get to feel sorry for you?
Kendall: It's not like that.
Aidan: Oh, right. Well, I wonder how long this one will last before he chucks you out in the street.
Kendall: I hope your lady love kicks you to the curb and I'm there to see it happen!

David: Damn it, where are you?
David: Remember when I asked you what you were doing here before? Well, I guess you don't have to answer that question.
Anna: I knew you were off duty.
David: Yeah, but you aren't.
Anna: I have an hour.
David: You have an hour, so you came here to spend it with me?
Anna: We have to keep practicing if you want a baby.
David: Oh, well, I see. That makes more sense. That's the chief of police being efficient, right?
Anna: Do I look like the chief of police right now?
David: Listen -- actually, I had to leave because I’m supposed to go check on a patient right now.
Anna: Oh, you're not going anywhere, at least not for an hour. I mean, I can't very well make a baby on my own. I can try. You said we'd take advantage of every possible moment, remember?
David: Yeah.
Anna: I left all those criminals out there on the loose.
Anna: Was this not a good idea?
David: No, no, it was a -- it was a great idea. You just caught me off guard, that's all.
Anna: No, that's not all. There's something else. I know what it is.
[Music plays]

Maria: Come on, David.

Edmund's voice: The woman I love is right here. There isn't anyone else on this earth I want to be with.
Brooke's voice: I think maybe I know who you are. Does Pine Valley mean anything to you?
Tad's voice: You're Maureen Gorman? Uh-uh. No way. You can't be Maureen Gorman.

Maria: Why do they sound so familiar? I don't even know these people.

David's voice: Maureen, don't let these Pine Valley people get any closer.

Maria: Where the hell are you, Aidan? Did you forget totally about me?
Maria: Come on, David. I -- I can't wait here anymore. I've got to get out of here.

Edmund: You know this is our last night alone before all the wedding stuff takes over.
Brooke: Oh, I know. Listen, if you want to go check on the kids, though --
Edmund: Nope. Peggy said I couldn’t. She said tonight was completely for us.
Brooke: Bless her tough little heart.
Edmund: Mm-hmm. She just doesn't get the charm of the Pine Cone, though.
Brooke: Well, remember, I gave you attitude when you first suggested it for a tryst.
Edmund: Yeah, but I know you were pretending because you'll always be a biker chick at heart.
Brooke: Oh! That's a secret. We've had some wonderful times here since then.
Edmund: And we'll have more.
Brooke: You know, Edmund, I really put you through some things these last few weeks.
Edmund: Oh, listen, I -- I can see where you were coming from now, what you went through, and how it could've happened.
Brooke: Do you?
Edmund: Yeah. Finding out that Maureen Gorman was a donor match for Enzo, and then describing how she looked like -- the possibility that Maria was out there somewhere was too hard to resist, as crazy as it was.
Brooke: And it was crazy.
Edmund: Yeah, well, we wouldn't be as good as we are at what we do if we didn't have wild, wild imaginations.
Brooke: And that's what it was, you know. I mean, it was -- it was just my wild imagination running away with me. It couldn't be true. I mean, even tad wanted me -- oh.
Edmund: It's ok. You can say the word "Tad." It has lost its power. Listen to me -- I am going to be the only man in your life from now on.
Brooke: Yes, you are.
Edmund: And you're going to be the only woman in mine. And we're going to love each other and we're going to heal and we're going to raise our kids as a family together. The past will be the past. No crying.
Brooke: You did it. Now I need a pretzel.
Edmund: Oh, I forgot, I forgot -- one more thing I got to give you, one more surprise.
Brooke: I can't take any more surprises.
Edmund: Yes, you can, just one more. It's out in the car. Let me get my keys, ok?
Brooke: All right.
Edmund: Be right back. Here.
Brooke: Oh, oh. Oh, thank you.

Maria: Oh. I thought I'd never see you again.
Aidan: Maureen, I’m sorry I took so long. Are you all right?
Maria: Yeah, I just -- I thought you forgot about me.
Aidan: No. Will you come inside?
Maria: Uh -- all right, but what took you so long? You said you were going to be right back.
Aidan: There was a blackout where I was.
Maria: Yeah, here, too.
Aidan: I was in this building and there was a security lockdown and I was stuck.
Maria: Yeah.
Aidan: I couldn't move.
Maria: You know what, you really -- you don't owe me an explanation. I -- we don't even know each other and I'm not even quite sure why I’m here.
Aidan: Well, you're here to rest. Have you had any sleep?
Maria: No, but -- well, I've had too much sleep as it is, so --
Aidan: I see you were busy while you were gone. Did you do this?
Maria: Yeah.
Aidan: Wow. You must have a really good memory. Isn't this the -- the estate that you can see from the park over there?
Maria: In Pine Valley? No, no, I've been drawing that for years.
Aidan: Really? How come?
Maria: I don't know. I don't know.
Aidan: Oh, I see. I see the difference. This one's got a big turret, a big tower. You're really quite good. We should -- we should get you some pencils and a sketch pad.
Maria: Oh, yeah, that's what I need. I don't have anything! I've got nothing! Everything I have was stolen. I don't even have a toothbrush to my name.
Aidan: Well, we can fix that. See, I got you a toothbrush and some other stuff that you might need, some clothes to sleep in, and you don't have to thank me.
Maria: I can't take this. I really can't. I -- I came here to get some answers, and I’m hurt, I'm penniless, and I am trapped.
Aidan: You're not trapped. You may be hurt, but by morning you're going to feel a lot better.
Maria: No, no, see, I’m not staying. Ok, thank you very much, but I've got to get out of here. I've got to get out of here.
Aidan: Hey, hey --
Maria: No, no --
Aidan: I won't let you leave in this shape.
Maria: Let go of me! I'm perfectly fine!
Aidan: But what if you get mugged again?
Maria: And? What, who made you my guardian angel?
Aidan: I did. It's the middle of the night.

[Knock on door]
Edmund: Hello? I'm your neighbor from next door. Everything ok in there?

Anna: Oh, this is all wrong. You're right.
David: How can I be right? I never said a word.
Anna: Ugh, I come over here like I’m on some government mission, you know, and this is the uniform, and I come barging in here expecting you to perform whether you want to or not.
David: You know, you're very attractive right now. Embarrassment becomes you -- not that I get to see it very often.
Anna: Well, don't get used to it.
David: Anna, I was wrong. You came all the way over here to make a baby with me, and you went for it.
Anna: Yeah, but not with any sensitivity. I know you want a kid, and it took you so long to make this commitment.
David: Well, two weeks ago you weren't fully committed, either.
Anna: I'm not rushing things, am I?
David: Are you?
Anna: Yeah. Maybe. I mean, I think I went for it so that I couldn't talk myself out of it.
David: So you're still having your doubts?
Anna: No, it's not doubts, exactly, David. It's -- it's been so long since I’ve allowed myself to actually want something. And wanting your baby as much as I do is scary --
David: Anna --
Anna: Because I'm imagining a future that I didn't think could happen. I'm actually out of excuses for postponing happiness because here I am with the man I love, and I just have to keep reminding myself that nothing's going to take that away.
David: No. Nothing is going to take what we have away, Anna. I won't let that happen.
Anna: I'll take that as a promise.
David: So how much time did you say you have?
Anna: About an hour.
David: Ok.

Trey: Even if Greem;ee and Leo come snooping around for more dirt on me, all they're going to find is this key. Just let them try to figure out where it goes.

[Noise]
Trey: Don't these two ever quit? I'm just protecting my home.
[Woman screams]

Aidan: What can I do for you?
Edmund: Look, I'm sorry to interrupt. I just was passing by and I couldn't help but hear your discussion with your lady friend.
Aidan: Yeah. Some lady friend, huh?
Edmund: I just wanted to make sure everyone was ok.
Aidan: Ok and then some. We were just a bit clumsy -- you know, what with the blackout -- and I think we overdid it with the libations, so -- but thanks for dropping by.
Edmund: I wonder if your friend would mind coming to the door.
Aidan: Um -- I don't think that's going to be possible. You caught us at a bad time.
Edmund: Not too bad, I hope.
Aidan: I'll be right there, love.
Aidan: What the hell went on here tonight while I was gone?

Brooke: Oh. Where was your car parked? At "Tempo"?
Edmund: I'm sorry, I’m sorry. I just got the impression there was something weird going on next door.
Brooke: Oh. Well, was there?
Edmund: I'm not sure.
Brooke: Well, if you feel like investigating, I could lend you my magnifying glass.
Edmund: No, no, no. This is -- this is our night and I'm sure weird things happen around this place all the time.
Brooke: Yeah, and we're two of them. Is that my surprise?
Edmund: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Open it up.
Brooke: Ok.
Edmund: It's a Maddie Grey original.
Brooke: "My family."
Edmund: Well, there's the artist and her brother and her daddy and a beautiful redheaded lady there.
Brooke: My family?
Edmund: You know, Maddie asked me before she went to sleep if she could start calling you "Mommy." And I said -- listen, if it's -- hey, we can take this slow if it's too much, you know.
Brooke: Too much? Edmund, it's a sign from God. I love you.

Maria: Yeah, I -- the lights went out and I was alone and I was trying to reach you, so I sort of took it out on the phone. Do you think I’m nuts?
Aidan: I don't think you're nuts. You just had a big scare tonight, that's all. It's -- it's my fault.
Maria: No, it's not your fault. I don't even know where I would be right now without you.
Aidan: Well, I couldn't help what happened, but I’m not going to leave you alone again tonight. I want you to feel safe here.
Maria: Thank you. You're a very kind man.
Aidan: I'm not so kind, but you don't have to worry about me.
Maria: I know I don't, but that's kind of what confuses me. I don't know why you're doing this. Why did you come to my rescue if there's nothing in it for you?
Aidan: Because you were in pretty bad shape in the park. You had your suitcase stolen and your cell phone and your purse, and you looked pretty beaten up, Maureen.
Maria: Yeah, but that's none of your business really. I mean, the normal reaction would've been to just keep right on walking.
Aidan: Yeah. I mean, you're right, but when I saw you there upset and alone, you know, I just -- my first instinct was to walk away, but I've been guilty of that too many times, and this time I wanted to make a difference.
Maria: Well, I can't let you keep taking care of me like this.
Aidan: And for the record, you don't owe me anything. I mean, you could stay as a favor to me.
Maria: I don't understand.
Aidan: Well, you'd be letting me make up for past mistakes.
Maria: I hope you got my color. Thanks.

[Kendall tries to make up for smacking Trey in the head]
Kendall: Is the bump going down? I mean, I'm sure it's nothing serious. I'm sure --
Trey: Look, shut up. Stop babbling and shut up.
Kendall: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I’m sorry. Am I giving you a headache?
Trey: Splitting.
Kendall: Are you mad at me? How was I supposed to know you'd walk in here?
Trey: I live here!
Kendall: Well, then, why'd you have to creep in like a thief? I thought someone was breaking in.
Trey: Somebody was breaking in -- you. How did you get in here, anyway?
Kendall: Well, when I realized you weren't home, I climbed in through the fire escape. The window was open.
Trey: Nice.
Kendall: Well, you know, if you had given me the key this afternoon, maybe this wouldn't have happened.
Trey: The key?
Kendall: Yeah, the key. You told me I could stay in Simone's room. Don't tell me you forgot.
Trey: I forgot.
Kendall: Well, that's too bad. You're going to have to live up to what you said. I mean, I'm sorry I beat you over the head, but you can't just throw me on the street. I have nowhere to go.
Trey: Ok, ok, ok! But you better be out of here by tomorrow. I need my privacy.
Kendall: So do I.
Trey: Ow.
Kendall: Oh, don't give me "ow." That bump on the head is nothing compared to the day I've had, trust me.
Trey: Look, save me your sob story. I'm going to bed now, and I don't want to see you when I get up.
Kendall: Well, that's too bad because I'm not going anywhere. You promised and I’m going to hold you to it.
Trey: I don't think you're getting my point here, Kendall.
Kendall: No, no, no -- here's the point, Trey. I told you earlier, you owe me. You owe me big time, and you're going to pay up or I’m going to go to the bar association or to Adam Chandler.
Trey: You really do think you could hurt me, don't you?
Kendall: Try me. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Trey: You see, Kendall, that's your problem. You've already lost everything. Even more than a place to stay, you need someone to worry about you. Well, that's not going to be me. But you can stay here for a while if you need to.
Kendall: Sure, suddenly you're nice to me after I threaten you.
Trey: Look, how stupid are you? I just gave you what you wanted, and you still want to fight me.
Kendall: No, I don't want to fight with you. I just want to make sure we understand each other.
Trey: I think I understand you pretty well.
Kendall: I'm sure we can make this work.
Trey: I seriously doubt it. You just keep your distance at all times.
Kendall: No problem here.
[TV turns on]
[TV plays]
[TV turns off]
Kendall: Watching that.
Trey: Yeah, is that why you were snoring?
Kendall: I was not snoring. Give me that.
Trey: Oh, what's the big deal? It's just some old grainy TV movie with a bunch of cheap actors.
Kendall: That was not a cheap actor. That was Richard Fields.
Trey: Who?
Kendall: He was a big star and he was my father.
Trey: Oh. So he's the one who --
Kendall: Yeah. He was very famous.
Trey: He's a handsome guy.
Kendall: And he was very talented. And I like the movie way too much to share it with you.
Trey: I've got some calls to make. Remember our deal, Kendall. When I’m home, you'll make yourself scarce.
[TV turns on]
Man's voice: Remember our deal, Lola. When I’m home, you'll make yourself scarce.

Brooke: Edmund? Ed-- oh.
Edmund: Breakfast?
Brooke: Oh, wait, wait. I'll -- I'll get dressed.
Edmund: No, I meant in bed. There's a pancake palace right around the corner. I'll be right back.
Brooke: Are you going to spoil me like this after we're married?
Edmund: Apple cinnamon or blueberry?
Brooke: I want to be surprised.
Edmund: Ok.
Brooke: Here.

Aidan: Good morning.
Maria: Morning. You slept.
Aidan: Yeah, I was actually quite comfy. How about you?
Maria: Got about an hour or two.
Aidan: What is it, your head? Are you still in pain?
Maria: No, it's a dream.
Aidan: Dream? What kind of dream?
Maria: Just one that I live with. I'm in a fog and I’m looking for something, but I don't even know what it is and I -- I don't know where I am. And then I wake up and, guess what --
Aidan: You don't know where you are or what you're looking for?
Maria: Mm-hmm.
Aidan: Still, you know more than you're telling me. You know, you'd better -- in fact, you haven't told me anything. You know, Maureen, I’m only here to help you.
Maria: Well, how can you help me? How can you help me when I can't even help myself? I don't even know why I'm here.
Aidan: What is it, Maureen? What is it? Is it something -- something about your past, something you're trying to forget?
Maria: Forget? How can I forget? How can I forget what I don't even remember? I don't have a past!
Maria: I don't have a past.

Anna: All right. Oh, man. It has been a very long night. Chief is going home to her husband. You should go home to your wife.
Man: Look, I told you I wasn't even going for the lady's purse! You've got the wrong man!
Officer: That's why God invented lineups. Chief, could I park him here?
Anna: Is this our purse snatcher?
Officer: Yep.
Anna: Oh, good. Good work. You have a report?
Officer: I can't stick around. I'm going to miss my kid's dance recital at camp.
Anna: Ok. Yeah, go.
Officer: Thanks a million, chief.
Anna: Ok. Could I get a fresh cup of coffee? Thank you so much.
Man: Well, you look like a reasonable young --
Anna: Yeah, well, I'm not. And I'm going to warn you, I'm not in a very good mood.

David: Damn it. Why can't I reach you? All right, all right. If you left Nevada, where would you go? Maybe your cell phone is working again.

[Maria’s stolen cell phone rings]
[Phone rings]
Anna: Are you ringing? They didn't take the phone? Ok, give me the phone.
Man: No, the phone belongs to me.
Anna: I doubt even your teeth belong to you.
[Ring]
Anna: Hello? Hello? Who is this? Is anyone there?

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Greenlee: What could you possibly have that I would want?

Kendall: Access.

Maggie: You keep on trying to put us together, me and Tim. Why do you keep doing that?

Hayley: You lied to me again.

Aidan: You don't know who you are, do you?

Anna: Who is this? I can get a warrant and find out who you are.
