ALL MY CHILDREN

JUNE 20, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[All shouting at once]
Roger: Ooh.

Anna: I love you. Are you happy now?

Chris: If you really loved him, you would let him off the hook and get out of his life for good.

TODAY’S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[REVELON – GREENLEE’S OFFICE]
[Greenlee talks on the phone while Mary listens]
Greenlee: You couldn't possibly be more upset by this than I am, Mr. Weyburn. Didn't Casey explain that none of this was my fault? Ahem. Yes, it's me in the pictures.
Mary: Tell him -- tell him you were set up.
Greenlee: But I -- I was set up. Of course I know by whom -- Kendall Hart. Well, Enchantment is our competition. Ahem. Yes. Yes, I know that our station was left unattended at the bridal fair, but -- but I swear I’ll make it up to this company if it takes the rest of my life. No, no. No, no, Mr. Weyburn. No, no, I won't make any statements independent of the company. Thank you, Mr. Weyburn. Yes, sir.

Mary: Well?
Greenlee: Well, he didn't tell me to empty my desk.
Mary: Thank God. Ok. Why don't we go to Poisson Rouge, have some lunch, and we'll celebrate.
Greenlee: I can't go to New York. I have to kill Kendall Hart. Ugh.
Mary: Now, I don't want to dwell on this unpleasantness, but you've got to remember that somebody else's actions caused all this trouble that you're having today.
Greenlee: Simone is my best friend, mother.
Mary: I know she's your best friend, but the fact of the matter --
Greenlee: I don't want to hear about it!
[Leo walks into the office]
Greenlee: Oh, Leo, thank God! Thank God you're back.
Leo: Mary. Mary, Mary, Mary. What did you do now?

[PV PARK – SIMONE HAS JUST SLAPPED ROGER]
Roger: Ooh. Feel better, slugger?
Simone: You are so hateful. How could I have let myself be used like this by you?
Roger: Oh, don't be silly. You had a good time.
Simone: I was taken in by you. You -- you convinced me to have the affair.
Roger: Simone, I didn't twist your arm.
Simone: And now you go to my father for therapy?
Roger: Well, he's a well-respected therapist. I always pursue the best.
Simone: And now you're threatening to tell him about this?
Roger: I don't have to.
Simone: You're threatening me to spill everything to Greenlee for what? Huh? For what, Roger?
Roger: To strengthen my bargaining position.
Simone: Why? Why didn't you just propose the book deal upfront, huh? Like a professional.
Roger: Because I’m not a professional. What are you so angry about? That I didn't approach the project the way you would have? So what?
Simone: I slept with you. And you don't even care, not a damn about me. You're on some sick power trip.
Roger: Simone, you're an adult. Everything you did, you did of your own free will.
Simone: You're right. I am free to do what I like. So guess what -- I’m finally going to do what's right.
Roger: What's right? Simone? Don't be hasty. Damn it.

[PINE CONE MOTEL – RYAN’S ROOM]
Ryan: Did I hear you right? You're pushing Kendall to break up with me?
Chris: I just want what's right for you, Ryan.
Ryan: Yeah, well, apparently you don't know what's right for me.
Chris: This -- this isn't going to work.
Ryan: Well, I may just have found you, Dad. But if you don't stay out of this, I swear you're going to be sorry that you ever found out about me.

[VALLEY IN DINING ROOM]
[Aidan and a waiter collide – water is spilled on Erica’s plans for her new house]
Waiter: Oh, God!
Erica: Oh! Oh!
Waiter: I'm so sorry, Ms. Kane.
Erica: It's ok, it's ok.
Waiter: I'm sorry.
Erica: It's just water.
Waiter: I -- I’ll get a new tablecloth. Hold on.
Erica: Ok.

Aidan: Sorry about that.
Erica: Yeah. It's all right.
Aidan: This will never work.

[VALLEY INN – DAVID AND ANNA’S ROOM]
Anna: David, you can't seriously expect me to hand you my heart, can you? Because you don't know how to take care of it.
David: Since when? And where is this coming from?
Anna: From experience with you. Experience.
David: I have given more of myself to you than anyone on this planet.
Anna: Really? Anyone?
David: You're damn right, anyone.

Chris: I can't ignore what you're doing, Ryan.
Ryan: Well, you better try. Because if you can't get behind it, you can just let yourself out.
Chris: I am not going to give you up. Ryan, we just -- we just found out what your mother went through after all these years.
Ryan: You're not here about my mother. You're here because Erica can't stand Kendall and you -- you want to score points or something.
Chris: No, no, no, I don't have to score points with Erica. This is all about you, son.
Ryan: All right, hear me out. Kendall is the only thing that matters to me. That's why I asked her to marry me.
Chris: Look -- look at her track record. Look at her history. Look -- look at the evidence against her.
Ryan: You're wrong, Chris. You are dead wrong. Kendall did not torch Erica's place. And if you're here just doing her dirty work, then you can just go and stay away.
Chris: Just wait. Just wait till the trial is over. Then make your decision.
Ryan: Why don't you run back to Erica and tell her this didn't work.

Ryan: Hey. Sorry about that.
Kendall: God, you were wonderful.
Ryan: Well, you know, he was out of line.
Kendall: I -- I don't want to wreck your relationship with your father.
Ryan: Of all the women in the world that he could date, he's got -- he had to pick your mom?
Kendall: I got to get out of here.
Ryan: What? You want to just, like, go for a walk by the lake or something?
Kendall: No, I -- I think I need to be alone.
Ryan: Hey. Hey, hey, hey. Don't let Chris get to you, all right? I mean, we're all right. You and I are --
Kendall: No, just -- just let me walk it off. Ok?
Ryan: Ok.

[Aidan peeks at the plans for Erica’s new house]
Erica: Excuse me? What won't work?
Aidan: The wall of windows. But you probably already knew that.
Erica: Why won't it work?
Aidan: Oh, it can be built, but it won't stand up for the long haul.
Erica: Why is that?
Aidan: A bearing wall like that needs more supports.
Erica: Are you an architect?
Aidan: No, but I am familiar with that sort of thing. Gorgeous, but impractical.
Erica: Where are you from?
Aidan: I'm from England.
Erica: Are you visiting Pine Valley or are you a recent transplant?
Aidan: That's yet to be determined.
Erica: By what?
Aidan: I came to see family. It's turned out more complicated than I anticipated.
Erica: Well, yes, in my experience, family is always complicated.
Aidan: I'm sorry again about the drawings. I hope there's no permanent damage.
Erica: No, no. I'm sure that they'll still be perfectly fine -- I mean, if they are executed properly. I certainly could use someone like -- oh, what's your name?
Aidan: Aidan. Aidan Devane.

David: Anna, you know how I feel --
Anna: You just proved my point.
David: Proved your point about what?
Anna: This is precisely what is wrong with us.
David: What is that supposed to mean?
Anna: We fight, then we kiss, then we go to bed, and it's never worked for us.
David: Well, you could have fooled me. My mistake.
Anna: It's -- it is. It is your mistake because this is what we do. This is our pattern. And then nothing ever changes. I mean, the next day is -- is exactly the same. There's no improvement.
David: You're oversimplifying this.
Anna: No, sex is oversimplifying.
David: You are wrong that this doesn't work for us, and you know it.
Anna: Oh, God. It's a diversion. David, it's a diversion because then the next day you are out again, evading the truth and risking your life.
David: Risking my life?
Anna: Yes.
David: Well, that's -- that's very interesting coming from you, chief Devane.
Anna: No, see, this is -- I am not going to do this. I'm going to be smart and I’m not going to set myself up to have my whole life blow up in my face a second time.
David: Would you please stop overreacting? If there's anything that we've accomplished from this discussion, it's that we love each other, right? Why is that so hard for you to handle?
Anna: David, pay attention. Please hear me for a change.
David: Fine. Fine, then say something that I can understand. Go ahead, Anna, tell me. What the hell is it that you want from me?

Greenlee: Mother's completely innocent.
Leo: Oh. Hmm. A natural mistake.
Mary: Yes, I suppose it's understandable, given your experience with your own mother.
Greenlee: No, no -- no Vanessa talk. Kendall is bad enough.
Leo: So, what -- what did Kendall do?
Greenlee: Only attempted to destroy my life as we know it.
Leo: Really? What, another chapter in the great cosmetics conflict?
Greenlee: No, no, no, no. She stooped to a new low, Leo. We ran into each other at the bridal fair. She provoked me. I fell for it. Voila -- cat fight on the catwalk.
Leo: You guys actually duked it out?
Mary: Yes. You should have seen it. It was absolutely devastating.
Greenlee: It was a setup. Kendall was trying to humiliate me. I was in this beautiful, beautiful wedding gown. She attacked me and ripped my dress to shreds.
Mary: But you should have seen how she defended herself.
Greenlee: It's Kendall's revenge. I came into this position and made a success of it. And what is it Kendall accomplished in the same amount of time, huh? She burnt her mother's house down.
Leo: Greenlee. Greenlee, remember what we talked about at our room in Paris? Hmm? How ideal life is?
Greenlee: Without Kendall.
Leo: Come here. And how you and me are only going to look into the future? Come on, don't let Kendall mess things up for us.
Greenlee: You're right --
Leo: Mm-hmm.
Greenlee: As always.
Leo: I know.
Greenlee: Kendall's a pathetic nothing.
Leo: That's right.
Greenlee: I have you. We'll always have Paris. The count. What happened when you left Paris?
Leo: The count. Well, we're having a DNA test done.
Greenlee: How long will that take?
Leo: A week, maybe two weeks. I'm not sure. But then we'll know whether or not Guy du Pres is my father.
Mary: The count. I wanted to ask --
Simone: Greenlee, this can't wait any longer.

Mary: Simone, how nice of you to drop by.
Greenlee: We were wondering what happened to you.
Simone: I had to run out of the bridal fair.
Mary: Yes, you did, and it was most unfortunate.
Greenlee: Yeah, I just realized you don't even know about the fight.
Simone: What?
Greenlee: Me and Kendall and the crowd. Oh, no, no, it gets worse. Photographs were delivered to the company --
Simone: Oh, no.
Greenlee: And because you left, our station was left unattended at the bridal fair.
Simone: Oh, I -- I couldn't stay --
Greenlee: Listen, it's not a big deal right now. The company is being saintly about it, but we have to do damage control.
Simone: I'm sorry, I can't do this. I can't do this.
[Roger slithers into Greenlee’s office]
Roger: Simone? Have you announced our news?
Simone: No, Roger, I --
Roger: Oh, come on. Don't be shy, Simone. We're all practically family here and we sure can't keep it a secret much longer.
Greenlee: Daddy, what's going on?
Roger: I hope this won't disturb you. Simone and I --
Simone: Roger --
Roger: Simone and I are writing a book.
Mary: A book? Simone and -- who are you supposed to be, darling? Schuster?
Roger: Mary. No, no. The Proteus story from an insider, namely me.
Leo: What? Simone, that was -- that was our book deal.
Roger: Well, you passed on it, Leo, and I thought, "what a waste."
Mary: What a waste of cold, hard cash, right, Roger?
Roger: Well, it's a cautionary tale, Mary. Now, I hope this won't disturb you, sweetheart.
Greenlee: I had no idea that you had discussed this.
Simone: It just sort of happened.
Roger: Yeah, it happened while we were planning your wedding with you. I don't know who made the first move. Do you, Simone?
Mary: My money's on you, Roger.
Simone: I'm sorry. I've been lying to you, Greenlee.
Roger: You know what? She feels guilty because she thinks that this book deal will take her away from working with you.
Greenlee: Oh. No, I’m -- I’m happy for you, Simone, and I’m grateful that you're taking on my dad. He needs someone experienced to help him through the publishing world.
Roger: That's exactly what I told her.
Greenlee: When are you going to leave me?
Roger: Well, she'll be leaving right after the wedding. And then from that point on, we'll be joined at the hip 24/7.
Mary: What an uncomfortable position.
Leo: Greenlee, with the fight and all this news and everything, maybe we should take a break for a little bit. What do you say? Greenlee: Ok, ok.
But I can't be gone long, all right?
Leo: That's fine.
Greenlee: Well, I’ll see you guys later. And thank you for telling me, Simone. I'm sorry you were worried about it.
Simone: Oh. Greenlee: Bye, Daddy.
Roger: Bye, sweetheart.

Simone: I have to do some work.
Roger: Can I help? Simone: No. I have to make some calls. Like Greenlee said, there's some damage control to do.
Mary: Where's your bracelet?
Simone: What?
Mary: The bracelet you had on before, I was admiring. Did something happen to make you take it off? No? Oh, well. Ta-ta, you little bookworms.

Simone: I really, truly hate you.
Roger: Come, come, come, come. All collaborators have their ups and downs. Now --
Simone: Get out of here. Right now, Roger, I mean it.
Roger: This is no way to begin our working relationship. I think you and I have got to get something straight, baby.

Erica: So you -- you are Anna Devane's nephew?
Aidan: Known her a while, have you?
Erica: What makes you think that?
Aidan: Your knowing tone, Ms. Kane.
Erica: Please, call me Erica.
Aidan: Erica.
Erica: I frankly don't recall Anna, or even Alex, for that matter, mentioning that they had a nephew.
Aidan: Long story. I arrived in town as a surprise.
Erica: Pleasant one, I’m sure. Please, please, won't you sit down? How did you learn so much about architecture?
Aidan: I can read blueprints. Construction is one of my fields.
Erica: One of them?
Aidan: Yeah. I'd run those plans by some engineers before you start the remodeling.
Erica: Yes, yes, I certainly will. Aidan, if you do stay in Pine Valley, would you come onboard on this project?
Aidan: My life's pretty much up in the air right now.
Erica: My friend Chris stamp is actually overseeing the architect and also the construction crews. I could have him call you.
Aidan: Why don't you let me figure out what I’m doing, and then I’ll come and find you. I have to meet my aunt. She's probably waiting for me upstairs. But it was nice chatting with you, Erica.
Erica: Well, thank you. Nice chatting with you. And, please, please do get in touch.
Aidan: Ok.

Chris: Found you.
Erica: Hi.
Chris: First thing that's gone right with my day.
Erica: Chris, I just met this really fascinating man. He claims to be Anna Devane’s nephew and he seems to be an arc-- what's wrong?
Chris: What's wrong, huh? I'm afraid I’m losing my son to your Kendall, and there's not a damn thing I can do to stop it, Erica.

Anna: I shouldn't have to tell you what to do.
David: Oh, I get it. That's female-speak for "I don't know," right?
Anna: Don't patronize me.
David: That's every woman's fantasy, isn't it? Having some confused man asking the woman he loves for direction? Look, why don't you break tradition for a change, ok? Why don't you tell me what you want and stick to it?
Anna: Oh, this is an exercise in futility. That's what this is.
David: It's a hell of a lot more than that. It's ironic. You know why? Isn't this interesting that you're creating this fight with me right --
Anna: I'm creating this fight?
David: Yes, yes -- hours before we're supposed to go to the Day of Compassion ceremony --
Anna: This doesn't have anything --
David: A ceremony that I know is extremely meaningful for you because your daughter is HIV positive.
Anna: Don't you use that against me.
David: I am not using it against you.
Anna: Don't you dare use Robin or her struggle for your own purposes!
David: That is not my intention, and you know it!
Anna: You leave me the hell alone. Just get out of my -- ugh!

[Aidan walks into the room]
Aidan: Anna?
David: Oh, great. Reinforcements.

Greenlee: Get out of my sight, Kendall. Now. I've had enough of you for a lifetime.
Kendall: I don't take orders from you.
Greenlee: Don't make me hurt you.
Kendall: Oh, bring it on, Greenlee. Bring it on! Show me what you got! Come on. Come on!
Ryan: Hey, whoa, whoa!
Leo: Whoa, whoa!
[Leo grabs Greenlee and Ryan holds Kendall]
Ryan: Hey, hey, hey!
Kendall: Let me go!
Greenlee: Piece of trash!
Ryan: Whoa!
Leo: How's it going, man?
Greenlee: Ryan's doomed.
Ryan: All right.
Greenlee: He and Kendall are engaged.
Leo: Get out! Congratulations.
Greenlee: Sucker!
Kendall: Ryan, I want to rip her face off!
Ryan: Whoa.
Leo: I'm really happy for you guys.
Kendall: No, Ryan -- five minutes. Just give me five minutes with her!
Ryan: No, no, not without restraints.
Leo: Do you know of any peaceful co-existence training programs we might be able to take these two at the yoga center?
Greenlee: Let me go, Leo! I'm perfectly calm!
Leo: You promise me? You promise me?
Greenlee: Yeah.
[Leo lets go of Greenlee and she attacks Kendall]
Ryan: Whoa!
Leo: Hey, hey, come on! Kendall: See? She cannot even be honest with you, the man she's supposed to marry!
Greenlee: Yeah, I am marrying him, Kendall. You better pray Ryan doesn't wise up before you drag him down the aisle!
Leo: Would you stop it already?
Greenlee: Not while I’m still breathing!
Leo: Come on.
Kendall: Oh, come over here! I'll take care of that! Come on over here!
Leo: Ok.
Greenlee: Ugh!
Leo: Ok! Hey, hey, hey, hey! I got an idea. All right? Why don't we give Pine Valley something they'll never forget? Huh? How about a double wedding?
Kendall: What? No! That's not even funny!
Greenlee: I'd rather be nibbled to death by tiny animals!

Simone: Let go of me! And stop torturing me.
Roger: I'm doing you a favor.
Simone: When Greenlee finds out about this, she will hate you.
Roger: Well, I already suffer from that knowledge. Now, why do you think I’m going to psychotherapy with your father?
Simone: My father will understand.
Roger: He will understand at you have disappointed him yet again. And the next time that you screw up your life and call Daddy for some bucks, he might not be quite so eager to fork it over, dear.

Aidan: Are you ok?
Anna: Yes.
David: All right, look, maybe this will translate from American to British. She's my wife, ok, and if she has a problem, I’ll take care of her.
Anna: Oh. Why don't we just continue this later, you know, after dinner.
David: Oh, that's right. So this whole thing was just to build up our appetites, is that it?
Anna: You know, I just can't -- can't you and Aidan please just start over? You know, Aidan and I are going to have dinner together, and I figured that you would be on call, so I didn't -- if you're free, you know --
David: Oh, listen and learn, Aidan. You see, communication is the key to a great marriage. Now, I know that Anna’s very busy, so sometimes details slip by her. Honey, Sweetheart, I am on sabbatical. Remember? The hand? Can't operate?
Anna: Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot.
David: Oh, that's all right. No big deal.
Anna: But would you like to join us?
David: No. No, that's ok. I can't. I have things I have to take care of, but go ahead. Go ahead. Have a great time with your nephew. It's all right.
Anna: Thanks.

[Phone rings]
David: Hello? What? Wait, say that again.

Chris: It's not like I’m picking out a car. They can't expect me to choose between you or Ryan.
Erica: Oh, Kendall could. You dumping me would make Kendall's year.
Chris: Ryan and I, we just started making some terrific headway, and now it could be over.
Erica: None of this is your fault.
Chris: She -- she's like -- if she would just stop lying to him, it would --
Erica: Look, Ryan is snowed right now, but it won't last.
Chris: Ryan's in love right now, and there's no telling when he's going to come to.
Erica: Before long, he's going to realize that she's using him just like she's used everybody else.
Chris: Just seems crazy. I mean, he can't see that he'll never have a full, satisfying relationship with her. It's me and his mother all over again. It took me ages to get over Gail, and when I did, I -- I was lucky. I found you. I fell in love again.
Erica: Chris, have you ever had any second thoughts? I mean, do you think that it's possible that Kendall wasn't the one who set the fire?
Chris: Where are these doubts coming from? Look, Jackson’s built a case and it's going to stand. This time Kendall's going to pay for what she's done.
[Erica thinks about the night of the fire]
Erica: Bianca, go!
Kendall: Erica, Erica, Chris said to stay back! Chris said to stay back!
[Siren]

Erica: Oh!
Chris: Erica? Are you all right?

Anna: Is this silent treatment of yours supposed to shut me out?
Aidan: I'm not naturally a talkative person.
Anna: Your brain's loud.
Aidan: What?
Anna: Yeah, you know, you really don't have to dislike David quite so much.
Aidan: Is that what you're reading in my mind?
Anna: Because you don't know him well enough to hate him yet.
Aidan: That's a bit of a sad endorsement, isn't it?
Anna: I know. I didn't mean it to sound quite like that.
Aidan: Why can't we talk about the weather and that team the locals can't get enough of -- the "fillies"? Like horses?
Anna: "Phillies," like Philadelphia. But you knew that. How's your room?
Aidan: I left my bags at the front desk.
Anna: Why didn't you take them upstairs?
Aidan: I don't want to stay here on your money.
Anna: Well, it's hardly charity. I mean, you are family.
Aidan: Family that can pay his own way in somewhere less fancy.
Anna: And somewhere further away from David.
Aidan: Would that be so bad for you and the husband?
Anna: Well, no. I just think that it would be more convenient if you were staying here at the Valley Inn.
Aidan: Hmm. I don't want to get in between you two.
Anna: Well, you’re -- you're not going to get in between us. But if you're here, then we stand more of a chance of bumping into each other. And you and David -- you know, maybe --
Aidan: It won't work, Aunt Anna. I don't trust David Hayward as far as I can throw him. And seeing more of him is not going to change a thing.

[David talks on the phone]
David: No. I said no, damn it. Don't tell Tad. Look, I’ll -- I’ll take care of it, all right?

Roger: See? I knew you'd listen to reason.
Simone: I don't know how, but you will pay for this, Roger. I swear you will.
Roger: Baby --
Simone: Roger, don't ever touch me again!

Greenlee: Like I’d be caught dead --
Kendall: I didn't want to --
Ryan: Whoa, hey, hey! Come on, hey, hey!
Leo: Would you guys just shut up!
Ryan: I'd say the double wedding is out.
Leo: Yeah.
Ryan: Probably, but, you know, whenever we do the deed, I’d love you to be the best man.
Leo: Really? That's great. I'm there.
Ryan: Good! Great. One thing settled.
Leo: I can't return the favor, though. I already asked David to -- to stand up for me.
Ryan: No. No return favors necessary. Just whenever we do it, I’d love to have you on hand.
Leo: Ok.
Ryan: All right.
Leo: What about you? Hey -- you going to be ok with that?
Kendall: That --
Leo: Me being the best man?
Kendall: She is not coming within 50 miles of me on my wedding day.
Greenlee: As if I’d want to.
Ryan: All right. You know, we're not always going to be around to keep you kids apart on the playground.
Leo: That's right. If you guys don't get over this, somebody's going to get hurt seriously.
Greenlee: Yeah, well, it's too late, Leo. I'm already fielding calls at work thanks to that she-devil!
Leo: Good God! Ok, let's get you back to work. Come here.
Ryan: That's a good idea because, you know what, we have something we got to do here anyway.
Leo: All right, now, I want you to congratulate Ryan.
Greenlee: For proposing to Kendall? He ought to be committed.
Leo: Come on, Greenlee, congratulate Ryan.
Greenlee: Oh, I’d rather stick knitting needles in my eyes.
Kendall: That'd be my choice for you, too.
Greenlee: Drop dead!
Ryan: Well, always good to see you, man.
Leo: Good to see you.
Ryan: All right. I'll call you.

Ryan: Man, you really know how to show a guy a good time.
Kendall: Look, I said I wanted to be alone. I didn't plan any of this. Why are you looking at me with that weird look on your face?
Ryan: Well, you should see your face.
Kendall: I'm glad I can't. So you told Leo we had business here or something?
Ryan: Yeah, I think I’m probably going to wait till you're in a better mood.
Kendall: Well, it may not happen.
Ryan: Kendall, I was -- I was going to do something, but this -- this isn't right. Wrong time, wrong place.
Kendall: You're -- oh, God, you're -- you're canceling. You're calling it off!
Ryan: Kendall, come on.

Roger: Simone, don't be this way.
Simone: I mean it, Roger. Keep away from me!
[Simone runs out of Greenlee’s office – past Mary]
Mary: Was that blur I just saw Simone?
Roger: Oh. Busy girl.
Mary: Hmm. You make a very interesting couple, Roger.
Roger: Why, thank you, Mary. What are you up to these days, hmm? What are your plans for the future? You know, after Greenlee's wedding and your father's waterfall of cash dwindles to droplets?
Mary: You know, some of us care about more than just money.
Roger: Well, who would that be? I mean, we're alone, so you can speak.
Mary: Are you totally unconcerned with our daughter's happiness?
Roger: Say, what's this? This devoted mother routine?
Mary: And do you have any idea how totally in love she is with that young man? And maybe if you and I had shared a similar experience, things could have been different for us.
Roger: Mary, Mary, these bouts of enlightenment always seem to fall around trust fund disbursement time, and they always prove to be temporary. Well, good luck playing the loving mommy dearest. Ta!

[Rogers leaves and Mary dials the phone]
Mary: Burke. Hi. Oh, thank goodness I didn't get your machine. Oh, no, the photographs were wonderful. They accomplished exactly what I was looking for. Right. Now, listen, you know that I revere your work, and next time I’ll give you credit and billing galore, but this time you've got to remain the phantom photographer. Oh, good. I'm glad you understand. You're a lovebird. Ok. Bye-bye.

[Greenlee returns to her office as Mary hangs up the phone]
Greenlee: That wasn't my boss?
Mary: Oh, no, darling, it was -- I just -- I had to cancel dinner with Googie Wagner.
Greenlee: Hmm.
Mary: Ok. Listen, I’ll see you later.
Greenlee: Ok.
Mary: Take care.

Greenlee: This day has been a complete and utter disaster.
Leo: Forget about today. It was lousy.
Greenlee: Except for you coming home.
Leo: And yesterday's gone. Just think about tomorrow, Greens, and how great our life is going to be together.
Greenlee: Did I tell you how much I missed you?
Leo: Um --
Greenlee: You make everything right for me, Leo. Everything.

Chris: You see, Ryan's a caretaker type, probably because of that abusive creep that raised him. Ryan and the rest of the family had to protect themselves against Patrick --
Erica: Yes, yes, so you told me. Chris: And the attorney to Gail’s estate told me that Ryan was sending her checks and writing to her up to the very end.
Erica: Ryan is very loyal.
Chris: Exactly. Look how he stood by his brother. You know, when Ryan is with you, he's with you 1,000%. He doesn't buy into any of that bad stuff. He's got your back covered, and I think -- I think that's what's happening with Kendall. He has a need to take care of her and to protect her. But what if he doesn't -- what if he doesn't break the pattern? What if he just never, you know, catches on? Erica, that's enough. Erica? Sweetheart, there's something not right. Does this have to do with the case against Kendall? Tell me, please.
Erica: Actually, I was just sitting here thinking how fantastically lucky Ryan is to have you. You are such a great father.
Chris: Yeah, I’m a great father. I can't even get my own son away from the woman who's going to run his life.
Erica: There is something wrong.
Chris: Thank you. Tell me.
Erica: I have this splitting headache. I'm actually going to go upstairs and get a -- get some aspirin.
Chris: No, sweetheart, stay here. I'll go get it for you.
Erica: No, I can get that. Don't worry about me.

Anna: I mean, I understand. You know, since David had you arrested after the first meeting, I can understand why you're not impressed with him.
Aidan: And why I don't want to live in the same building?
Anna: He's -- he's having these serious problems with his family right now.
Aidan: And he's an adult. He's got you. He'll pull through.
Anna: Look, Aidan, despite everything you've seen and heard, -- we are working on our marriage. I mean, we're -- we're very supportive of each other and -- hi. Did you decide to join us?
David: No, I can't. Listen, I got to leave town.
Anna: Well, where are you going? How long are you going for?
David: Well, I can't get into that right now. It's a medical emergency, ok? But we'll talk when I get back.

Ryan: Calling it off? Do you think I want to back out of the wedding? I'm sorry, was it you that was here when I asked Leo to be my best man? Was that you?
Kendall: Yeah, but maybe you were just saying that.
Ryan: Why? Why would I say that and then want to bail out on you?
Kendall: I don't know. I don't know, ok, but it could happen.
Ryan: You know what you are?
Kendall: What?
Ryan: Astoundingly, incredibly dumb. You see the way you make me fall off balance?
[Ryan gets down on one knee]
Kendall: What are you doing?
Ryan: I'll tell you what I’m not doing. I'm not leaving you. I'm not. Not now, now ever. And I wanted to make an official proposal to you, somewhere more romantic than a cemetery, but this is just going to have to do. So what the heck. Ahem. This is for you. Chris gave it to my mom. And before you say anything about how weird it is that I’m giving it to you, this ring -- it was supposed to mean something special, something sacred between them, only it never could. So, I don't know, I want to give it a second chance, like we have. Whew. So, officially -- Kendall Hart, will you marry me? Give me a yes.
Kendall: Yes. Yes. Yes, please.
Ryan: Ok, this is the part where you're supposed to give me your hand so I can try and put the ring on, you know?
[Ryan puts his mother’s ring on Kendall’s finger]
Ryan: It fits perfectly.

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Liza: You and Mia are discussing me behind my back?
Mia: You know, it's not enough that I care about you. I have to hate Adam, too? Forget it. I happen to love the man.

Bianca: I will take that stand and lie that I saw my sister set that fire.
