ALL MY CHILDREN

JUNE 27, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Kendall: I have enemies. I know you don't want to believe it, but I do.
Ryan: Would you listen to yourself, please? You remember you said that you were going to trust me? Start now.

Erica: It's Kendall. What if she's innocent, Opal?

Brooke: I just don't want to sign off on Maureen Gorman until we know that Enzo is completely well.

Woman's voice: Maureen, some nice people were here. They came all the way from Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, to talk to you.

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Trey: Looks like Ryan went over to the dark side. Sorry you had to see this.

Erica: Oh, honey, you are going to look gorgeous in that gown. You are going to turn heads.
Chris: Hi, sweetie.
Erica: Hi.
Chris: Bianca.
Bianca: Hi.
Chris: Ryan, Ryan, join us, sit down.

Trey: They make quite a nice team, don't they? But, then, right now they're winning.
Kendall: Ryan is not one of them.
Trey: Whoa, whoa. You want to give Erica the satisfaction of throwing you in jail again?

Erica: Well, it is so wonderful to see you together.
Ryan, I knew it was just a matter of time before you came to your senses about Kendall.

Tad: Man.
Tad: Oh, my --
[Tad dials the phone after he remembers kissing Brooke the night before]
Tad: Yeah, hi, Brooke, it's -- it's me. Would you do me a favor and call me at home as soon as you get this message? I think we should maybe talk about last night.

[Phone rings]
Woman: Hello?
Maria: Hi, Fran, this is Maureen Gorman.
Fran: Maureen, where are you? You left without a word.
Maria: Yeah, it couldn't be helped.
Fran: Are you --
Maria: I'm fine, but I got your message about some people looking for me. You said that they were from Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. Do you know what they want?
Fran: It's about a liver transplant for a sick child from there, and you're a match. Maureen? Are you there?
Maria: Yes, yeah.
Fran: They seemed so desperate. We were all very sad. Even your friend little Brittany, she wanted to help, so she had me send one of your drawings to the sick little boy.

[Phone rings]
Brooke: I was --
[Edmund answers the phone]
Edmund: Edmund Grey. Yes, put the senator through.
Brooke: Go on, go on. It's too noisy in here.

[Brooke opens an envelope mailed from Nevada]
Brooke: "The little girl that you met in pediatrics, Brittany, wanted to send this picture to your sick little boy. She thinks it will help him get well because it helped her. It's a magical castle drawn by Maureen, the potential donor you're searching for."
Cute. [Inhales]
[Brooke is shocked by the drawing]
[Brooke dials the hospital in Nevada] Brooke: Oh, hi.
Yes, is this pediatrics? Can I talk to Fran Chapman, please? Oh, she's not on duty? I wonder if you could help me. I was looking for Maureen Gorman. No, no, I know she doesn't work there anymore. I know this is going to sound strange, but it's important. Could you describe Maureen to me?
Brooke: Thank you.

Edmund: The senator -- he denies any wrongdoing.
Brooke: It's not surprising. I forgot, I have an important meeting.
Edmund: I thought you cleared your schedule today.
Brooke: No, no, it's not about " Tempo." Uh, Aunt Phoebe's doctor has wanted to talk to me for a while now.
Edmund: Oh, really? What's wrong?
Brooke: It's nothing. Nothing is wrong. I'm sure it's nothing serious. Uh, but I think that I should -- I should talk to him. I'm sorry, I -- you know what? I'll be home soon. Ok?

Ryan: It's important for me to have a relationship with my father, but I think I should tell everyone that I still believe that Kendall is innocent.
Chris: Look, as far as I’m concerned, they're two separate, entirely unrelated issues.
Erica: It just makes things a little more difficult.
Ryan: Well, it doesn't have to because I’ve warned Kendall to keep a distance, to keep a lot more distance between you and Bianca, and I think if you return the favor, I think we'll all be all right.
Erica: Ryan, Bianca and I have tried to keep our distance from Kendall.
Bianca: Yeah, that's right, Ryan, we'll gladly keep our distance. In fact, that shouldn't be a problem because Kendall is going to be in jail in a week.
Ryan: Well, I’m not going to let that happen. I'm not going to let her go to prison, even if you believe that's where she should be.
Chris: I have an idea -- why don't we just drop --
Ryan: You know what, not wanting Kendall in your life and her innocence are two separate issues, but they really don't have to be. I mean, you gave birth to Kendall. I don't understand how you could see her go to prison if there's any chance that she's innocent.

Kendall: You are so warped, Trey. I know Ryan. He would never, ever do anything to turn against me.
Trey: You saw him with them just now. Every bit of information that you share with Ryan goes right to Erica, her daughter, and Chris Stamp -- and they won't hesitate to use it against us in court.
Kendall: No, you don't understand, Ryan loves me.
Trey: Ryan loves his father, and his father loves him back. To be reunited with a long-lost parent who loves and accepts you -- can you imagine what that must be like? You think you can trust Ryan still?

Anna: Ok. You have gone up against spies, master criminals, and an insane mother-in-law. You can handle this.

Maggie: Help. The prom is tonight and nothing goes with anything else.

Tad: Oh, that was quick. I didn't expect you till later.
Brooke: This can't wait.
Tad: Yeah, I know. Look, I’m sorry, Brooke. Really, you know, I did something really stupid. I didn't mean anything by it. I didn't --
Brooke: What are you talking about?
Tad: What do you mean, what am I talking about? I kissed you last night, didn't I?
Brooke: Oh, for God's sakes, who cares? This is so much more important than that.
Tad: What is it? Is it Jamie? What happened?
Brooke: No, Jamie’s fine, everybody's fine. I think I might be insane.
Tad: What is wrong with you?
Brooke: I want you to look at this and I want you to tell me what you think.
[Tad looks at the drawing Brooke received in the mail]
Tad: I think you could use an art class.
Brooke: Just look at it.
Brooke: Tell me what you see.
Tad: I see a castle? Ok, fine, you know -- oh, ok. Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Oh, right, with a rose garden, obviously it would have been before the turret burned down, but -- yeah. Supposed to be Wildwind, right?
Brooke: No, no, no, no.

Anna: I think, in time, we'll get you looking more like yourself, eventually. Right.
Maggie: If I was smart enough to skip my own prom --
Anna: Yes, that's probably wise. My daughter, Robin -- she went to her prom. I mean, I wasn't there to -- to help her in any way, but I hope that she looked nice. I wish I had been there.
Maggie: Well, you know, you're doing a great job so far.
Anna: You think so?
Maggie: Yeah.
Anna: Thank you. Oh, the face. Stand up.
Maggie: Ok, so I was thinking about -- hmm -- something sassy, yet simple. Not too much, ok? Oh, God, shoot me now.
Anna: I have never seen you like this. Who is he?
Maggie: Oh, uh -- there is no "he." I'm going with Bianca. As friends.
Anna: Ok.
Maggie: You know, we have this whole connection/friend thing, you know, because of Frankie. Is that weird?
Anna: No, that's not weird at all, because men can be royal pains. You know, who needs them? Sit down. All right. Sassy, yet simple. This one?
Maggie: Yeah, yeah, that looks good.
Anna: Ok.
Maggie: I don't know. Look at the mess I made. Maybe I should clean up. David's going to be home soon.
Anna: Oh, forget about David.
Maggie: Really?
Anna: Yeah. Like I said, who needs him?

Trey: Ryan knows every bit of our strategy. I can't defend you when all of it is going over to the other side.
Kendall: Listen -- I love Ryan, and I know -- I know he loves me. What kind of a person would I be if I didn't trust that?
Trey: A smart person, a person who's learned from being kicked around her entire life, somebody who knows how the world works.
Kendall: No, stop it. Ryan's different. I'm lucky to have him.
Trey: How many people have really come through for you in your life, Kendall? How many people can you count who've totally and completely been on your side?
Kendall: Ryan. That's -- that's what I’m saying, that's what I’m telling you -- he's the only one. He loves me.
Trey: Yeah, but he's going to love you once a week through bulletproof Plexiglas for the next 20 years.
Kendall: Why should I trust you over him?
Trey: Because winning this case is the only thing that matters to me. It's what's best for the both of us. I'm suspecting that Ryan’s next move is going to be to try to convince you to fire me.
Kendall: You know, Trey, you're right about one thing -- the only person I can really trust it myself.
Trey: Exactly.
Kendall: But I’m not going to let them bring me down. I'm not going to let them bring me down. I'm going to save myself and Ryan. I've been thinking of a plan.
Trey: What kind of plan?
Kendall: I didn't -- I didn't want to go through with it, but now you've convinced me. I don't have a choice.

Erica: Look, even if Kendall didn't commit arson, she is not innocent.
Ryan: Well, I’m talking about the arson right now. That's all I’m talking about.
Erica: Ok, then. Here's what I know to be true -- my house burned to the ground and I lost everything in it. I almost lost Bianca and Chris.
Bianca: You were almost killed, too, Ryan, remember?
Erica: Exactly. And Kendall was right there, right in the middle of it. Ryan, Kendall herself said that she did it. And knowing what we do about her, I mean, we would just be fools to consider this a coincidence.
Ryan: Well, she told me that she didn't do it, and I don't really hear any other evidence.
Chris: Ryan, there is plenty of evidence.
Ryan: Well, it's not accurate. All right? She's alone right now. She's alone and she needs help. She needs a lot more help than I can give her. I don't -- I don't understand -- even if you hate her --
Erica: I don't hate her.
Ryan: It seems to me that you'd want to make damn sure your own flesh and blood doesn't go to prison for something that she didn't even do.
Bianca: Ryan, what do you expect mom to do?
Erica: Ryan, I just want to see justice done.
Ryan: And you think that's possible?
Erica: Yes, I do. I think that Jackson Montgomery is going to make sure that Kendall gets a fair trial. Look, we really need to go to the building site.
Bianca: Yeah, the renovations.
Erica: Will join us?
Chris: Uh --
Ryan: Go ahead, go ahead. We're done.
Bianca: I'll see you later.
Ryan: Ok.
Chris: I'll be right with you.
Erica: Ok.

Ryan: Forget about it, all right? I didn't mean -- the last thing I want to do is get between you and Erica and --
Chris: You won't. Look, it's about us, me and you. So we go through this together.
Ryan: I'd like that.
Chris: I'll call you later, ok?
Ryan: Ok.

Ryan: I've been meaning to call you.
Edmund: Yeah, that's what they all say.
Ryan: I have some news. I guess I didn't want you or Dimitri finding out from somebody else. I -- I’m getting married again.
Edmund: That is news. Congratulations.
Ryan: Thank you. And I can imagine what, you know, you guys must think. You know, it hasn't been a long time since we lost Gillian, but --
Edmund: Ryan, I’ve been where you are. I know how hard it is to say good-bye to someone you love.

Fran: So you'll call them? They acted as if you're their last hope.
Maria: Uh --
Fran: Maureen?
Maria: Yes, yes.
Fran: You could help a baby boy who's losing his life. Please call these people.
Maria: I have the numbers, Fran. Thanks.

Brooke: This came from the little girl in the hospital, the one that you bonded with when we went looking for Maureen.
Tad: Yeah, the -- the donor match for Enzo.
Brooke: Right, she sent it to Enzo. But get this -- Maureen Gorman drew it for her.
Tad: My God. That's so sweet. What, you're upset because somebody drew a picture for a little girl that happened to look like Wildwind?
Brooke, what do you want from me? It's a coincidence. So what?
Brooke: What if it's not a coincidence?
Tad: Well, what would it be?
Brooke: I don't know, but this woman, you know, is a perfect match for Enzo out of the blue, a total stranger -- the only one except for Maria. And then on top of that, she draws a picture of Wildwind? That's two huge coincidences.
Tad: And?
Brooke: And I have to know who she is. Who is she?
Tad: Oh, my God, I’m hung-over.
Tad: You can't be serious. You -- no. No. Come on.
Brooke: It's insane, isn't it?
Tad: Yes. Yes. Yes, that you think that Maureen Gorman is Maria is completely insane.
Brooke: What if it's not? What if it is Maria?
Brooke: I just want to drop this. I don't want to have this doubt.
Tad: So don't. Don't. Let it go, ok? Forget about it. If what you're in need of here is a friendly "snap out of it," then I’m your man because the fact is you are letting your imagination run away with you.
Brooke: I called the hospital in Nevada and I asked them to describe this Maureen Gorman to me.
Tad: Oh, my God.
Brooke: She's a slim, pretty brunette. She has olive skin. She has big, brown eyes.
Tad: Nevada's probably chock full of pretty brunettes with b, brown eyes.
Brooke: Who are blood matches to the Santos’s and who draw pictures of Wildwind?
Tad: No, no, no, who draw pictures of castles, ok, which you and I associate with Wildwind because Wildwind is the only castle that we know.
Brooke: You saw it, too. You said, "this is the turret before it burned down." This thing here on the gate, that's the Marick family crest.
Tad: It might as well be a blob of ketchup. It doesn't matter. And not for nothing, but just because a woman is a blood match doesn't make her a blood relative. Timothy Dillon isn't a blood relative and he's a match.
Brooke: I know that! I realize everything you're saying. I don't want to believe it. I don't even want to think it.
Tad: Sweetheart, come on. You know, deep down, you know what's going on here, don't you?
Brooke: Tell me.
Tad: It's perfectly obvious, ok? Look, you survived the accident, Maria didn't. And here you are, you know, you're --
Brooke: Marrying her husband. So you think that I’m having some sort of a delayed guilt reaction? Is that what you think?
Tad: Makes a lot of sense. And I’ll tell you something else that makes sense, ok? If -- if-- Maria were alive, she sure as hell wouldn't be in Nevada taking care of somebody else's kids. She would be home in pine valley with Edmund taking care of her own children. Nothing could keep her away.
Brooke: What if she's not with Edmund and her own kids because she doesn't remember them? And you can't tell me that it's not possible, because -- because the same thing happened to you.

Ryan: Well, Gillian will always be a part of me.
Edmund: Yeah. She wants you to be happy. Maria's been pushing me to do that same thing. For some reason, I’ve been hesitating, until now.
Ryan: So -- so we're doing the right thing?
Edmund: Absolutely. I have no doubts. Do you?
Ryan: Absolutely not.
Edmund: Good. Well, in that case, I wish you nothing but the best, and I’m sure Dimitri will, too.
Ryan: Thank you.
Edmund: So, who's the lucky girl?
Ryan: I'm marrying Kendall Hart.
Edmund: Well, you do not kid around, do you?
Ryan: I know, I know what, you know, people in this town think of her. With her history, I’m really not all that surprised, but she's not the person she used to be. She's changed.

Kendall: I overheard Chris Stamp talking to this guy who was doing work on Erica’s new penthouse apartment. Now, this guy is going to get total access to all of her e-mails, her phones, her faxes -- and he happens to be my new neighbor.
Trey: So what?
Kendall: So? So if somehow through this guy I can steal a key and get access to Erica’s place, I could plant a bug or tap into some incriminating e-mail or something.
Trey: You mean you could get proof that Erica and Bianca are going to try to frame you.
Kendall: So it would make all the other evidence worthless. The jury wouldn't believe anything else they have to say.
Trey: Now, this construction guy -- do you really think you can get him to give you what you want?
Kendall: You have your area of expertise, I have mine.
Trey: Hmm. I guess you do. But how far are you willing to go to get what you want?

Erica: Oh, Aidan. You're already so hard at work. Aidan, this is my daughter Bianca.
Aidan: Bianca.
Bianca: Hey.
Erica: I have hired Aidan as kind of a trouble-shooter.
Chris: So how's it going?
Aidan: Pretty good so far.
Chris: Good.
Erica: Bianca, we were just deciding exactly where all the rooms should go, and I want you to come with me so I can show you where we thought we would put yours -- I mean, if you would like to see a beautiful sunset.
Bianca: Wait, mom, what gave you the idea that I’d live here?
Erica: Well, why -- why shouldn't you?
Aidan: Excuse me. I've got to get back to do some work.
Erica: Ok.
Chris: See you later.
Aidan: See you.

Bianca: It's going to be an awesome place and I’ll come visit you all the time, but I think it'll be better if I live someplace else.
Erica: Well, I just -- but I always just thought of this as our new home -- yours and mine and Chris'.
Bianca: Well, I spoke to Uncle Jack and he got the judge to amend the conditions of my DUI., and so I’m going to move into Myrtle's. I think that if we have some space between us, it's actually going to bring us closer together.
Erica: Well, of course. We're just going to do whatever you want.
Bianca: Thank you. And I know that it's going to be a great place. You guys are going to love it. I'll see you later.
Chris: Bye, Bianca.
Bianca: Bye, Chris.

Erica: I think everything's all right between us, and then I just can't do anything right.
Chris: Aw, baby.

Trey: So what does this construction guy look like?
Kendall: Well, what does that have to do with anything?
Trey: Well, something tells me that this won't be such an unpleasant assignment.
Kendall: No, you are so wrong. I'm not going to like any part of this.
Trey: Yet you are still willing to follow it to its logical conclusion.
Kendall: I'm going to do what I have to do, whatever it takes. I'm not going to saddle Ryan with some wife who's stuck in prison.
Trey: Ok. But I’ve told you what I think about this.
Kendall: You can't talk me out of it.
Trey: I wasn't going to. Because as you've said, we are running out of options. But as your lawyer, I have to warn you, don't do anything illegal.
Kendall: All right, I’ve been warned. Well, I’m going to get ready to go. I'm going to go change into some work clothes and pay a visit to my new friend.
Trey: Well, I’ll be rooting for you.
Kendall: Thanks.
[Kendall leaves and Trey talks to himself]
Trey: Oh, thank you, Kendall. Because you're going to look all the guiltier and I’m going to get away with arson.

Chris: Bianca wants her independence, darling. She's growing up. She wants to live her own life. You got to understand that.
Erica: I do. I understand that. I just don't know why it's always like this, I mean, why Bianca can't get far enough away from me and Kendall won't leave me alone.
Chris: Yeah, well, things are going to change real soon.
Erica: I've heard that a lot. It doesn't change.
Chris: It will, no matter what happens at the trial, darling. Ryan told me that if Kendall’s found innocent, they're going to hop on his bike and leave Pine Valley.
Erica: She would do that? She would leave town? With Ryan?
Chris: Yeah. And don't think I’m too thrilled about it. I mean, heck, they can do whatever they want, and you know what, they will.
Erica: Are you saying that even if someone were to show up and clear Kendall of the arson charge that she would still be out of our lives?
Chris: Stick around, the end's in sight.
Erica: I have to go.
Chris: No, you have to work.
Erica: No, I have an errand to run. You know, it's prom night and maybe Bianca will let me share that with her.
Chris: You want company?
Erica: No.
Chris: All right, well, I’ll be here if you need me.

Anna: Ok.
Maggie: They work.
Anna: You shall go to the ball.
Maggie: Thank you. I'm sure everyone will be saying that.
Anna: Wait right here. Oh, shoot.

[Knock on door]
[Maggie answers the door]
Maggie: Oh. Oh, my God. What are you doing? Aren't we going to the prom?
Bianca: Yeah, yeah, we're going.
Maggie: Well, not like that!
Bianca: Oh, relax. I'm just about to go and change into my dress.
Maggie: Oh. Hmm, good. Sorry. I'm a little stressed.
Bianca: Oh, yeah? Well, you know, you can still back out if you want to.
Maggie: Well, not after all this trouble I’ve gone into. Well, if you back out, I’m sorry, I’ll have to find another girl to go with.
Bianca: Ok, fair enough. Um, we never really discussed which girl picks the other girl up.
Maggie: Well, we're both staying here, right, so why don't you just come pick me up when you're ready?
Bianca: All right then. I have to warn you, I might have my mother with me, so be prepared for anything.

Tad: Look, what are you going to do? Are you going to tear your way through half the country trying to track this woman down, trying to find Maureen Gorman?
Brooke: I have to go back to Nevada and I have to make sure that Maureen is not Maria. I think it's almost impossible that she would be, but I -- I have to find out, ok? Can I use your phone?
Tad: Nuts. Ok, this is just crazy. Look, you and Edmund, you've finally got a chance to be happy, finally. Why would you do something that's going to jeop--
[Brooke dials the phone]
Brooke: Hi. Where are you?
Edmund: I'm still at the Valley Inn. How's Phoebe?
Brooke: Oh -- um, it's nothing to worry about.
Edmund: Good.
Brooke: Listen, I -- I have to go out of town.
Edmund: Why, is there a problem?
Brooke: Well, Laura called and she has an exhibit for her photography, and it's sort of last-minute, I know, but I’d really -- you know, I can't miss it.
Edmund: No, no, of course not.
Brooke: Ok. So I’ll call you when I get there. Ok? I have to go because I’m going to miss my plane. Bye-bye.

Brooke: What else am I supposed to do?
Tad: I'll tell you what you're supposed to do, ok? For your sake, for Edmund’s sake, and for all the happy years you've finally got a chance at, you tear up that picture and you forget about Maureen Gorman and you allow yourself to be happy. Just be happy.

[Maria dials one of the numbers she was given by Fran]
[Edmund answers - thinking it's Brooke]
[Phone rings]
Edmund: Hey, beautiful. What, did you forget to tell me you love me?
[Maria listens to Edmund’s voice and hangs up]

[Erica remembers]
Ryan’s voice: I mean, you gave birth to Kendall. I don't understand how you could see her go to prison if there's any chance that she's innocent.
Erica's voice: What was she still doing in the house? What if she didn't set the fire?
Chris' voice: Well, Ryan told me that if Kendall was found innocent, they're hopping on his bike and leaving Pine Valley.
Erica's voice: So even if someone were to show up and clear Kendall of this arson charge, she'd still be out of our lives?

Erica: I know I’m going to regret this.
[Erica dials her phone]
Erica: Jack, it's Erica. Call me. It's about Kendall, and it's urgent.

[Knock on door]
Ryan: She's not here.
Trey: I know. I know. I need to speak to you privately.
Ryan: Oh, you mean behind her back?
Trey: Look, I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of a defense for her, you know, something that will actually work.
Ryan: And?
Trey: And what would you say to an insanity plea?

[Kendall goes to the building site and finds Aidan]
Kendall: You look hot.

Maggie: I hope the silence means I look ok, because we don't have time to start over.
Anna: You look amazing. You look beautiful.
Maggie: Ok, don't push it.
Anna: Look, do you think this will go with it? I think this will go. I'd like you to wear it. I bought it for Robin.
[Anna shows Maggie a bracelet]
Maggie: Oh, Anna, I couldn't.
Anna: No, no, no, it's ok. I'm just going to lend it to you, really, just for tonight. I want to see how it looks anyway and I’m sure robin would love you to have it -- for now. Here. That's pretty cool.
Maggie: Yeah.
Anna: Ooh!
Maggie: You know, you're pretty mushy for a police chief.
Anna: Yeah, ok, well, that's our secret, right?
Maggie: Ok.
[David storms into the room]
David: You know something -- you couldn't get any lower than this. Having your own husband arrested?

Edmund: Brooke? Who is this? We have a bad connection. This is Edmund Grey. Hello?

Brooke: Tad, more than anything else in the world, I want happily ever after with Edmund.
Tad: Well, you got a shot.
Brooke: I can't live my life thinking that Maria might be alive and lost somehow. I can't. You know, I can't do that to Edmund or his children or even to myself, you know?
Tad: Or to Maria, if by some miracle she is out there.
Brooke: Thanks. So I’m pretty certain you're not going to say anything to anybody about this?
Tad: Nah, I don't think I’ll mention it to anybody just yet.
Brooke: Ok, and when I get back, you'll be able to tell me how crazy I was.
Tad: No, I won't. Because the truth is you're doing a very brave thing. Neurotic, but honorable. But I wouldn't expect anything different. You wouldn't be you otherwise.
Brooke: Yeah, well, sometimes I really hate being me.

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Erica: Maggie is very lucky to be going to the prom with my daughter.

Tad: What is it?
J.R.: It's from Mom.

Anna: Even in death, Dixie means more to you than I ever will. Am I right?

Aidan: If you want me to kiss you, all you got to do is ask.

Leo: Elope with me, tonight.
