ALL MY CHILDREN

OCTOBER 8, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Stuart: This house used to be full of love. Now it's just about winning. You two are making poor little Colby the prize.

Maria: Last night, when we kissed --
Aidan: I know. Don't tell me. I overstepped. I shouldn't --
Maria: No, you didn't overstep. No, you didn't.

Edmund: I'm going to do some research, and I'm going to figure out everything there is to figure out about memory, and I'm going to reach her.
Brooke: Can I lend you a hand?

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[CHANDLER MANSION]
Liza: Hi.
Tad: Don't "hi" me. We have a full-fledged crisis on our hands.
Liza: Oh, well, I wouldn't have chosen that tie to go with that jacket, but --
Tad: That's good. That's so funny. Have you seen these?
Liza: What?
Tad: Letters, notes from anxious stockholders. People concerned about their investments. I'd say we're a couple of beats away from a full-fledged stampede.
Liza: Well, we have a stockholders meeting on the 31st.
Tad: We can't wait till the 31st. We got to take care of this now.
Liza: How much sleep have you gotten? And a caffeine-free meal? You know, because security told me you've been there 24/7.
Tad: With good reason, Liza. This is important.
Liza: Yeah, but, you know, so is your health. You're running on empty.
Tad: Don't talk to me about my health, ok? What about your heal? You're the one that's married to the Marquis de Sade. You two stopped playing The War of the Roses?

[Adam strolls in with a smile on his face]
Adam: Liza? Darling? Your breakfast awaits you.
Liza: Oh, Sweetheart, you are so kind to worry about me.
Tad: Some kind of parallel universe.

[TEMPO - BROOKE'S OFFICE]
Edmund: Ok, well, you fax that information to me ASAP. Great. I appreciate it.

Brooke: Oh. How long have you been here?
Edmund: I wanted to get an early start.
Brooke: Did you turn up anything promising?
Edmund: The field is huge. I mean, we got treatments for amnesia ranging from Chinese herbal extracts to regression, past-life therapy. How about you?
Brooke: There's a neuropsyche research lab in Arizona that focuses on posttraumatic memory loss and retrieval, so I put in a call to the director.
Edmund: Ok, great. Great. We'll double-team, collect the raw data, then brainstorm, choose the best option. Standard op.
Brooke: Edmund, I can't treat Maria like she's just another cover story for "Tempo," and I don't think that you can, either.
Edmund: This story's not about Maria. It's about memory loss.
Brooke: It is about loss. It's about us and what I did to you.

[PV HOSPITAL]
Hayley: Hey, Carmen. How are you?
Carmen: How's my little guy?
Hayley: Oh, we're good. We're here for our post-op checkup, my little powerhouse.
Carmen: Great. Ok, go ahead and sign in. I need to make a new copy of your insurance card.
Hayley: Ok. Come on. Oh, your father is always warning me about that bottomless pit that is my purse. Oh, Enzo --
[Enzo walks over to Maria]
Maria: Hey, you little runaway. You are so cute. What's your name, Cutes McBoots? What's your name?

[ERICA'S PENTHOUSE - UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
Mateo: This place is really coming together. We met at the hospital.
Aidan: Mateo Santos, Maria's pit bull baby brother. If you've come to warn me off of Maria, you can save your breath because you're not the first.
Mateo: No warnings. No showdowns. We're on the same side.
Aidan: What side is that?
Mateo: Maria's. We want the same thing, right?
Edmund: Look, Brooke, if you have a problem teaming up with me, I can handle the research on my own.
Brooke: Edmund, I know you. Just because you choose to ignore the elephant that's sitting right here --
Edmund: Why don't you give me the number of that research lab in Arizona.
Brooke: Forget the story. I know you're mad as hell. I know you blame me for everything that's wrong in your life. And you have every right to say it straight to my face.
Edmund: Look, letting it all out is just not my style, ok?
Brooke: No, I know you'd rather brood and let it fester so that it doesn't have a real chance to begin to heal.
Edmund: What good is us talking going to do? I mean, is it going to change anything?
Brooke: It's not just about talking. We have to be practical. We have to take the next step.
Edmund: Brooke, what do you want from me?
Brooke: We have to end our marriage.

Maria: What is your name, you precious thing, huh? Oh, you're too little to tell me. Way too little. He'll figure it out.
Hayley: Runaway's mine.
Maria: He is beautiful. What a beautiful little boy.
Hayley: Thanks. He takes after his father.
Maria: Oh, and away he goes. Hey, cutie. Is he sick?
Hayley: No, not anymore. We're just here for our post-op checkup.
Maria: Oh. Oh -- hold on. I -- I know you.

Tad: What the hell is wrong with you?
Liza: Adam and I patched things up.
Adam: It was inevitable.
Tad: It's unbelievable. Are you insane? Have you forgotten everything that he's ever tried to pull -- the blackmail, the gas-lighting, the backstabbing? What about -- what about --

[Colby runs in]
Liza: Oh, hi.
Colby: Mommy, Daddy, it's time for breakfast.
Liza: Well, thank you so much for the official warning. We would love it if you would join us.
Adam: Yes. Allow me.
Liza: Well, let's go in together.
Adam: Ooh, look at --
Tad: My God. I've got to switch to decaf.

Marian: Oh, good morning, Tad.
Stuart: Hope you're hungry. Lucretia made some of her cinnamon French toast.
Liza: Mother, is that the coffee? Could you pass the coffee, please?
Adam: Oh, allow me. There we are.
Liza: Oh, you spoil me.
Adam: Oh, that's what I'm here for, my Darling.
Adam: There we are. Sweet, just like you.
Marian: So, what do you two lovebirds have planned for the rest of your day?
Adam: Oh, I'm afraid most of my day is taken up with business.
Liza: Yes, I have a meeting that I can't really get out of, but I am going to be here when you come home from school.
Adam: So will I, Sweetheart.
Liza: You know what we'll do? We'll have dinner, and then maybe we'll play a game, and we'll read your favorite bedtime story.
Marian: Uh-oh. Colby, let's get your backpack. It's time to go.
Liza: You going to be a good girl today?
Colby: Yes.
Liza: Yeah, I know you will. I love you.
Adam: Me, too, Princess.
Colby: Bye, Uncle Tad.
Marian: Come on, you gorgeous little creature.
Stuart: I love you. Come on. Here we go, off to school.

Liza: Could you put, like, five sugars in this cup of coffee? Can you not do anything right?
Adam: What's with this meeting?
Liza: Meeting?
Adam: Are you hell-bent on driving my company into Chapter 11?
Liza: Your company? You know, your company is the only company that has posted a third-quarter profit.
Adam: Kindly make sure you keep your sticky fingers out of the till.
Liza: You know what? I'll tell you what. Go to hell.
Adam: I'm already there, Sweetheart. You're it.
Liza: Why don't you just stay in the east wing? Could you do that for me? Why don't you go up there and rot.
Adam: What, and miss out on the pleasure of goading you?
Liza: I'll tell you what. I cannot even do this one more day, all this pretending.
Adam: What the hell are you grinning at?
Tad: You had me scared half to death. Thank God there's things you can count on. You going to eat your croissant?

Aidan: Look, Mateo, I don't have any problem with you, ok? I've heard nothing but good stories about your family.
Mateo: Well, good. Then you understand what a weird place we're in with Maria.
Aidan: Yeah, I do. And really, I sympathize. The only person who can call the shots in Maureen's life is Maureen, and you've got to respect that.
Mateo: So do you.
Aidan: Meaning?
Mateo: Meaning Maria was always able to take care of herself and now that she's back, she doesn't need a bodyguard.
Aidan: You're right. She's made that crystal clear to me. But what she does need right now is somebody that she can trust. And like it or not, that person is me.

Hayley: You know me?
Maria: Yeah.
Hayley: That's great. I mean, your memory --
Maria: Of course, I know you from TV, but also -- I saw you at the wedding for Edmund and Brooke.
Hayley: Right. Yeah, yes.
Maria: I -- I crashed the wedding.
Hayley: I guess you could say that.
Maria: Ok, so then you know me, too. Did we know each other from before? Come on, Sweetie. Want to go be with your mommy?
Hayley: I mean, I know that this is really awkward. It's strange for you and for me. I just -- I mean, you could have been a stranger. You could have been my best friend. You could have hated my guts. I honestly wouldn't know.
Hayley: Well, I'm Hayley, and this is Enzo. And we're real pleased to know you, Maureen.

Edmund: End our marriage? You mean legally?
Brooke: Yes. Whatever we need to do. Edmund, I -- I know that things are crazy in your life right now, and I don't want to add to it, but we have to -- we have to look at reality.
Edmund: Whatever that is. Ok. I'll call my attorneys. Isabella. Come in.
Brooke: Hi, Isabella.
Isabella: Brooke.
Brooke: I'll be in my office.
Isabella: I want you to stay. I need to speak to both of you.
Edmund: What's this about?
Isabella: Your marriage.
Edmund: Well, it's -- it's interesting because Brooke and I were just discussing -- I'm going to call my attorneys.
Isabella: Edmund, forgive me for interfering, but it's not that simple.
Brooke: No, divorce is never easy.
Isabella: There's something you may not have considered. I took the liberty of speaking to Father Claude. A divorce is not enough.
Tad: So, what's with you two? One moment it's kissy face, the next family feud.
Liza: It's a front.
Tad: For who?
Liza: Colby.
Tad: Hmm. Whose idea was this?
Adam: Don't look at me.
Liza: Adam was playing tug of war with Colby, and so Stuart and Marian and Mia had this family intervention. Now Adam and I, when Colby's around, have to play the adoring couple.
Tad: And when she's not, everything's back to normal.
Liza: Listen, we live in separate wings.
Tad: So this must be the DMZ.
Adam: Where in hell do your mother and sister get off giving orders?
Liza: Your brother is the ringleader, for goodness sakes. They're trying to put Colby's needs first.
Adam: Well, they're fools if they think this forced peace is what's best for my daughter.
Liza: As if Adam is going to live by anybody's rules but his own.
Adam: I've been the soul of cooperation.
Liza: You know what? I know that you have been on the phone every moment of every day with Barry, plotting your next move.
Adam: I only want what's best for Colby.
Liza: You know, I can't do this anymore.
Adam: Good. On that, we agree. I can't stand this torture one minute longer.
Liza: You know what? Why don't you just give me a divorce, give me sole custody of Colby, and let me raise her the way I want to?
Adam: Turn my daughter over to you? Never.
Liza: You see what I have to put up with? Do you see this? You know, I love Stuart, but this time he has made the wrong call.
Tad: With all due respect, I think Stuart's outsmarted the lot of you.

Maria: Ok, fine. Thanks.
Hayley: My son is such a cheap date. You know, the nurse offers him a lollipop, and he's like, "Mom? Mom, who?"
Maria: Oh, I like them fearless.
Hayley: Ever since Enzo's stay here, the hospital has been so super nice to us. They really spoil him.
Maria: What is he in for?
Hayley: He had a liver transplant.
Maria: He -- was he the little boy that -- oh, my God. So you found me on the donor list. I was a tissue match for -- are we related?
Hayley: Sort of. We're sisters-in-law. My husband is your brother. Are you ok?
Maria: Yeah. Yeah. It's just ever since I've come back here, it's like being in the ocean or something, and one wave crashes down on you and as soon as you recover, the next one kind of knocks you out again.
Hayley: I can only imagine what it must be like for you.
Maria: So -- is he ok?
Hayley: Yes. Yes, he's fine. You know, I -- I don't intend on driving you kicking and screaming down memory lane at all.
Maria: Thank you. Thank you.
Hayley: I just have to know -- what are you doing in the hospital?
Maria: Oh, Joe Martin hired me as a nurses' aide.
Hayley: In pediatrics?
Maria: Yeah. And I just got off the night shift because I don't really sleep very well and also it kind of keeps me from running into a bunch of people who knew me back when, so --
Hayley: Hey, I understand. And you know what I say -- whatever works for you, go for it, Maureen.
Maria: Thank you, Hayley thanks.
Hayley: Hey, look, the way you took to Enzo, I think you're a natural for the job.
Mateo: Maria, you're working here?
Maria: Yeah, I'm a nurses' aide.

Edmund: Isabella, this has been a difficult time for everyone. But you have my word, I will do what's right by Maria and by Brooke.
Isabella: Maria's still your wife, Edmund, in the eyes of God.
Edmund: You know, just before you got here, Brooke and I were discussing -- she's been incredibly understanding, and I don't foresee any problems having our marriage annulled.
Isabella: It must be declared invalid.
Brooke: I'll do whatever I have to.
Isabella: I know you're busy. I'm sorry to take up your time.
Edmund: Thank you for your concern.
Isabella: You understand I had to come?
Edmund: I do, and I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything, ok?
Isabella: Thank you.

Brooke: I'll have my lawyer talk to Father Claude, too.
Edmund: You want me to handle it?
Brooke: No. No.
Edmund: You sure?
Brooke: Absolutely. You know, when you think about it, our marriage was really over before it began, so I'm just -- I'm just ending it officially.
Edmund: Brooke, wait.
Edmund: Brooke, you were right. I've been dodging this discussion about you and me and Maria.
Brooke: I know.
Edmund: I want you to know that I got your letter and I -- I got the ring. And I should have said something before.
Brooke: I didn't give it back to get something.
Edmund: I know. I know. But I just -- you know, it should be acknowledged, and I haven't, and I used all the craziness as an excuse.
Brooke: Craziness that I'm to blame for.
Edmund: I still can't wrap my head around what you did, but what you wrote helped me kind of make some sense out of it.
Brooke: I'm glad -- for you.
Edmund: I just want you to know that since Maria came back and all hell broke loose, you've been amazing.
Brooke: Edmund, please don't.
Edmund: No, listen, I got to say this. I've watched you, Brooke. I've watched you put your feelings aside and comfort my children and help me with this memory research and handle the news of the annulment with incredible grace, and I don't know how you do it, but I'm grateful.
Brooke: I'm thankful for that, you know, but it doesn't forgive or take away what I did. And saying "I'm sorry" will never be enough.
Edmund: Then stop saying it.
Brooke: I just -- I'm still not sure about, you know, the two of us working together.
Edmund: Why?
Brooke: Because you're such a damn gentleman, and you're just too professional to pull the plug on our working relationship, but if it's too much, Edmund, I --
Edmund: Brooke, look at me. I'm still standing.
Brooke: I know, but sometimes it's just too much to handle.
Edmund: If it is, I'll let you know. But right now, it feels right, ok? So -- if it's ok with you --
Brooke: Of course it's ok. How would I ever replace you?

Liza: You're not saying that Stuart was right, are you?
Tad: Well, when you think about it, I mean, your life is gravy, isn't it? I mean, you have a beautiful house, good friends, and, most importantly, you have this gorgeous baby girl who adores you. And here you are bitching and moaning like it's too hard for you to pretend to be halfway civilized while she's around? Take it from me, do yourself a favor and do it anyway while you got the chance.
Liza: Yeah, I guess I have been foolish.
Tad: You just don't know how good you have it. Think about it. You don't want to just waste your life on a lot of stupid things that don't mean anything to anybody. When you get to the end of the ride, what do you want to look back on? A lot of regrets and wasted time?
Liza: Yeah, I guess I've -- I've just lied to myself. I thought I was doing what I was doing to protect Colby, and I think I was just protecting myself. Stuart was right. You're right.
Tad: Don't look at me. I'm no model of behavior. My quality time with my son consists of watching television because I'm too numb to speak. Brooke's life is a train wreck, and all I do is hide behind a mountain of paperwork.
Liza: Maybe you need to ask yourself the same question. At the end of all of this, what do you want to look back on?
Tad: My family. The family I have left, people who need me. Thank you, baby.
Liza: Wait, where are you going?
Tad: Family reunion. Mind if I take the rest of the afternoon off?
Liza: You know what? Why don't you take the whole week off. In fact, that's an order.

Mateo: You're a nurses' aide?
Maria: Yeah. It's a great job. I really like it.
Mateo: Yeah, well, that's -- that's great.
Maria: Ok, why do I not feel like it's great?
Hayley: He thinks it's great, don't you?
Mateo: Yeah, it's just you see yourself as a nurses' aide, and us, your family, knows you as a doctor.
Maria: Well, that was a different life, Mateo.
Mateo: You were the first member of the family who went to college. I remember how proud we were when you graduated from medical school.
Hayley: You know, I don't think this is exactly what your sister needs to hear right now.
Maria: I just -- I think you're letting your memories of me get in the way of who I am now.
Mateo: My memories are the only thing that connects us. I mean, I know you don't remember, but they mean something to me.
Maria: Well, Maria -- Maria had a dream of being a doctor, all right?
Mateo: That was our dream. It belonged to us. I know you don't remember, and I can't believe that it doesn't mean anything that we were connected, that we were together as a family.
Maria: Look, I know this is really hard for you, Mateo --
Mateo: No, it's driving me nuts, ok? Knowing what you did for me. You never let me down. And now when it counts most, I can't pay you back. And what kills me most is that Aidan, who came out of nowhere, means more to you than I do.
Maria: I have had to make my choices, and you have to respect them, even if you don't want to, you know.
Mateo: Well, can we at least talk about your living arrangement? I mean, I don't see why you should be living in a dinky, run-down motel.
Maria: Well, that's just temporary, that's until I can save some money.
Mateo: Well, you can save some money living with us. Right, Honey?
Hayley: You know me -- the more, the merrier. But that's entirely up to you, Maureen.
Maria: Well, you see, I would really be happier living on my own, I think.
Mateo: I bet Enzo would be excited to have his Tia Maria around.
Maria: Yeah, but it would really be a little strange.
Hayley: I have an idea. The condo across the courtyard from us is vacant, and you'd have privacy galore, and we own the place.
Mateo: That's a great idea.
Maria: Yeah, but I -- I really doubt that could afford it, so -- and I'm not going to take charity.
Mateo: Hey, you're family. I mean, whether you remember or not, I remember. I remember the time when you stood up for me against that bully who tried to steal my bike and how you helped me deal with losing papa. It's not charity. I owe you.
Maria: No, Mateo, you don't. You don't.
Mateo: Our mom, our sisters, we would feel a lot better if you would stay closer to home instead of some cheap roach hotel.
Maria: Well, why do I feel like you're not going to take no for an answer?
Mateo: I promise you're not going to regret it.
Maria: Well, I'm paid up at the roach motel until the end of the week, so --
Mateo: Great. That'll give us some time to get ready for the condo, get it ready for you to step in.
Hayley: We'll call you, ok?
Maria: Ok. Ok. Bye. I'll see you.

Hayley: You know, whether she remembers it or not, she's so lucky to have you for a brother.

[Knock on door]
Edmund: Come in.
Brooke: Edmund, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Sammy's on line four. He wants to talk to you.

Edmund: Sammy. What's going on? Really? When did they leave? Ok. All right, thanks. No, we'll talk about it. Don't worry. We'll talk about it when I get home. Ok. See you.

Brooke: Is everything ok?
Edmund: Isabella took Maddie to see her mommy.
Brooke: Did you know?
Edmund: No. She didn't say anything. I wish she had. A surprise visit is the last thing Maria needs.
Brooke: Well, maybe you could head her off.
Edmund: Do you mind?
Brooke: No, go. I'll set up some E-files for our research.
Edmund: Ok, great.
Tad: Edmund.

Edmund: Tad.

Tad: So, you two are still working together side-by-side, sharing the same airspace?
Brooke: Uh-huh.
Tad: Whose notion of a good idea was this?

[Knock on door]
Maria: Who is it?
Aidan: It's your next-door neighbor.
Maria: Oh, hey, come on in.
Aidan: I just thought I'd pop by and see how your first night on the job went.
Maria: Oh.
Aidan: But I can come back later after you got some sleep.
Maria: No, that's all right. I'm totally wired. Please, come on in. Come on in.
Aidan: So -- well, how did it go?
Maria: Well, no major disasters. Just one of the nurses slipped and called me "doctor." I got a little visit paid me by my brother, Mateo.
Aidan: Oh, really?
Maria: Yeah.
Aidan: He came to see me today, too.
Maria: Uh-oh. Did he give you a hard time?
Aidan: Well, I don't know. He was fairly decent, but his message was clear -- you mess with my sister, and I'll mess with you.
Maria: He's a little overprotective. I really, really like his wife, Hayley. She's great, and they have the cutest, cutest little boy, but -- oh, did you know that this nurses' aide who can barely cover her rent has got a foundation in her name that they -- they donated this awesome ay space to the kids in the pediatric ward. It's amazing. I've got this big plaque with Maria's name on it.
Aidan: Wow. There will be no living next to you soon.
Maria: Yeah. Oh, yeah, that's the other thing. Mateo talked me into taking the condo that's next to him. I'm already starting to regret it.
Aidan: Why don't you stay here?
Maria: I just must seem so ungrateful. And I understand why they want me close by, but, Aidan, I just don't know these people. They're total strangers to me. And just the idea of having this overprotective, hothead, macho brother overlooking -- you know, looking over me and watching my every move, I just -- I don't need it right now. I can't take it right now. And it's not their fault. It's not like they did anything wrong. I don't want to hurt their feelings, and -- I don't know. I don't know. I feel like this is going to go on forever. I'm going to be hurting these people, every single person I come in contact with.
Aidan: Well, you haven't disappointed me. Not once.

Adam: Tad's gone?
Liza: Uh-huh.
Adam: Finally remember he has a home of his own?
Liza: Adam --
Adam: Have you seen my briefcase?
Liza: Could we talk for a minute?
Adam: If this is about Colby.
Liza: No, it's about all of us, the way that we've been living. Not really living. Do you remember the way that it used to be?
Adam: Vaguely.
Liza: Well, I can't keep living like this. I know that -- that you hate this, too, and I was thinking that maybe we could make some sort of an agreement where we could coexist peacefully. I would really be willing to come halfway.
[Doorbell rings]
Adam: Who's that?
Liza: I don't know. Excuse me.

Liza: Yes?
Woman: I'm Carol Miller, Assistant D.A. Are you Liza Chandler?
Liza: Yes. What seems to be going on?
Carol: Serving a subpoena.
Liza: What have you done?
Carol: No, this is for you, Mrs. Chandler.
Liza: Oh, there must be a mistake. I had an agreement with Chief Devane for full immunity for the evidence and information I gave her on David Hayward.
Carol: No, no, no, this has nothing to do with the Hayward case. I'm here to investigate charges of embezzlement at Chandler Enterprises. We have a lot of questions for you, Mrs. Chandler.

Brooke: Get off my case, Tad.
Tad: What's this?
Brooke: It's research.
Tad: "Amnesia -- Memory Loss and Retrieval." I can't believe it. You're working for the cure, trying to get Edmund back with Maria? Why?
Brooke: Because I owe them that much. Edmund is suffering.
Tad: He's suffering from a chain of events that have nothing to do with you.
Brooke: You don't get it.
Tad: Yes, I do. You're still feeling guilty, like you're the one that has to be responsible, to pay for it in some way. Well, tell me something, how much do you have to suffer before you consider the debt paid? Watching your husband chase after Maria is probably tearing your heart out.
Brooke: I have no choice.
Tad: Sure you do. You don't have to turn yourself into some kind of martyr. Honestly, if you go on like this, I'm afraid it's going to kill whatever life is left in you. I'm sorry, but personally, I'm too selfish. I've lost enough. I'm not going to lose you, too. Wait, wait, wait. Shh. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, ok? I understand. You made a mistake. You're trying to make good for it. It's ok. But you've got to give yourself a break, you know? Please, stop worrying about Edmund's life and start focusing on your own.
Brooke: Being the town pariah, I didn't know I had my own.
Tad: Well, this is where I come in. I met with the mob outside -- you know, the pitchforks and torches and all that stuff -- and I told them to go home, so you should able to wander around the streets this evening unmolested.
Brooke: Yeah? Where would I go?
Tad: Well, for starters, how about -- how about sharing a porterhouse with a rakishly good-looking gentleman?
Brooke: Are you asking me to dinner?
Tad: No, I was talking about Jamie. I'm a couple of years past rakish. Whatever. Anyway, I could make it a threesome, gladly.
Brooke: I don't know.
Tad: Come on, please? I don't want to do this to you. Let's go out to dinner. Let's do something fun. I'll tell you what, if I don't make you laugh out loud at least twice by the end of the evening --
Brooke: Yeah?
Tad: Dinner's on me.
Brooke: And if I don't laugh?
Tad: Dinner's on me. See? There you go. I'm one for one already. The day's looking better and better.
Brooke: Yeah.

Mateo: You're worried about Enzo's checkup?
Hayley: No, no, I'm sure he's fine.
Mateo: You have a problem with Maria moving into the condo, huh?
Hayley: No. Hey, it was my idea.
Mateo: Well, what's bothering you? Come on, baby, talk to me. What's going on? What's got you spooked?
Hayley: Just the very real possibility that Maria might never remember -- ever.

Maria: You're very good for me, Aidan.
Aidan: Well, that's nice to hear.
Maria: It's just it's been so nice to have somebody tell me that I'm not the horrible monster that I secretly think that I am.
Aidan: What is so horrible about not wanting to hurt people?
Maria: I just shouldn't have told Mateo I was moving into that condo. That was really dumb.
Aidan: You can always change your mind, Maureen, and not feel guilty about it.
Maria: Thank you. Finally. Finally, somebody understands.
Aidan: I take it you're not too keen about bunking in with your brother.
Maria: No, I'm -- I'm not too keen about leaving here.

Isabella: The desk clerk says your mommy's in room 17, right there. These are your mommy's favorite.
Maddie: Can I give them to her right now?
Isabella: Let me brush your hair first. Maddie, wait.
