[Tapping on window]
[Greenlee gasps]
Man: Knock if off, you two. You're busted!
Brooke: You got your miracle. Damn me to hell for trying to destroy it. I
deserve that.
David: Maggie, I can't be who you want me to be. I'm sorry for letting you
down.
TODAY’S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN
Mrs. Tuttle: Made them myself. Quince muffins with apple butter.
Greenlee: I'd rather eat --
Leo: Mmm. Just like Mom used to make. I haven't even had breakfast yet, so
this is great.
Mrs. Tuttle: Oh, it's the most important meal of the day -- especially when
you're spending the rest of it in the lockup.
Greenlee: You can't be serious.
Mrs. Tuttle: Well, soon as the sheriff's open for business.
Leo: Ma'am --
Mrs. Tuttle: Please, it's Lureen.
Leo: Ok, Lureen -- I think this was just a big misunderstanding. We didn't
have any idea where we were parked.
Lureen: You were making whoopee -- in front of The Church of the Light, for
goodness sake.
Greenlee: Technically, we never got that far. We were interrupted by your --
Leo: That's right -- maybe we can just work this out if we just talk --
Earl: What we have to work out is your jail sentence. Hmm.
Bianca: Maggie? It's Bianca. Did you oversleep again? I'm buying you an alarm
clock. Hey, what -- Maggie, what happened?
Maggie: I'm leaving this stupid town. Today.
Brooke: I expected to be gone before you got back.
Edmund: Ahem. But you're still here.
Brooke: Maddie wanted me to stay with her until she fell asleep. I'm -- I’m
sorry. I fell asleep, too. I'll be on my way.
Edmund: That's it? That's all you have to say?
Brooke: It would take a lifetime to explain. I'm still trying to understand.
Edmund: I never will.
Photographer: Ms. English, right here!
Reporter: Mrs. Grey? Mrs. Grey, are you still living at Wildwind?
Second reporter: Mr. Grey --
Edmund: How about some privacy, all right? I said no interviews.
Reporter: Where's your first wife?
Second reporter: How was she discovered?
Tad: Knock it off!
Reporter: Any comments, Mr. Martin?
Edmund: What are you doing here?
Tad: I came to check on Brooke. Are you ok? I'm going to drive you home --
Brooke: I have to get out of here.
Tad: Wait, Brooke, don't --
Reporter: Ms. English, how long did you know --
Tad: Brooke --
Reporter: -- Mrs. Grey was alive?
Tad: Brooke!
Tad: So, is this how it's going to be?
Greenlee: Jail? What the hell is going on here?
Lureen: We don't use that language around here, young lady.
Leo: Lose that language here. What she meant to say was that we really,
really just want to go home.
Earl: You violated two city ordinances and a parcel of other laws, not to
mention common decency. Now, in this town, we don't look kindly upon lewd acts,
especially when they're committed in front of the ladies' auxiliary.
Lureen: In front of The Church of the Light.
Earl: Yeah, four young ladies were just waiting for their motor coach ride to
Atlantic City, and they got a burlycue show at the break of dawn.
Lureen: Garnet Squire said she saw you all --
Earl: This is a police matter, Lureen, not a hen party.
Leo: We -- we didn't mean to offend anybody. Ok? We meant no offense. But, I
mean, can you blame me? Look at this goddess. I love her to distraction, and I
just wanted to show her -- you understand. You can understand what it's like to
love a good woman.
Earl: I would never disrespect my wife with a public display of affection.
Now, as for you two, you can just wait right here until Sheriff Pike gives the
all clear.
Leo: All clear?
Earl: Yeah, well, we've had a little problem with wolf spiders and the like.
The jail's being fumigated. It should be safe by lunch -- unless you're a spider
or a silverfish.
Leo: What about bail?
Earl: No, you just stay right here till your arraignment.
Greenlee: Are you out of your God Da--
[Lureen gasps]
Leo: Greenlee --
Greenlee: Cotton-picking mind? There is no way in heck that I’m going to
spend one minute in some bug-bombed fleabag of a jailhouse. All I did was have
some intimacy with the man I love in the privacy of our own limo. It's not my
fault a bunch of blue-haired looky-loos pressed their noses to the window. I'm
out of here.
Earl: Take one more step, missy, and your next one will be into a cell --
fumes or no fumes.
Bianca: You're serious about leaving?
Maggie: Why should I stay?
Bianca: Well, for one thing, you're enrolled at PVU. You're going to be a
doctor --
Maggie: No, that was David’s brilliant idea, and he's gone, so --
Bianca: He's gone?
Maggie: Yeah.
Bianca: Maggie, why don't you just tell me what happened?
Maggie: Bianca, it's total sci-fi. You don't understand. David kept Edmund
Grey's wife under wraps for, like, five years. She had amnesia, and he decided
not to tell her that she had a life, kids, the whole nine yards. How screwed up
is that?
Bianca: Wait -- David knew that Maria was alive?
Maggie: Oh, yeah. And he actually sat there at the wedding with us and
watched her husband marry another woman. I mean, my family is just so screwed
up.
Bianca: I'm so sorry. Does Leo know?
Maggie: I can't find him. David's gone. It's just me and Anna, and she has
enough problems right now. The last thing she needs is me hanging around.
Bianca: Look, just because David pulled another one doesn’t mean you have to leave home
Maggie: Home? Home is three drawers and a shelf in
the bathroom. I don't know what I was thinking. I -- David’s gone, Leo's
married, and Anna just wants to get rid of me, so --
Bianca: She does not -- Anna cares about you.
Maggie: No, I stayed too long already. I thought that -- you know, I was such
an idiot. I actually bought that whole family crapola that he gave me. I don't
know. What's the point?
Bianca: Well, what about friends? You have me.
Kendall: Are those for me?
J.R.: Um -- yeah. Here.
Kendall: Thanks. Do you want to come in?
J.R.: Are you busy?
Kendall: Hungry. I thought you were my breakfast. I just ordered a sandwich
from the deli. The guy who delivers it is used to catching me like this, so --
J.R.: A lucky guy.
Kendall: Otherwise, I would've put something else on.
J.R.: I think you look fine like that.
Kendall: Well, if you want to share egg and bacon on a roll, come on in. I
can get you Coffee Oró--
J.R.: I'm sorry.
Kendall: Coffee. I'll get you coffee.
J.R.: Kendall, I can't stop thinking about you, about last night.
Kendall: Ok, I better get dressed.
J.R.: Lame, J.R. Totally lame.
Leo: Greenlee, just -- shh -- take a breath. Take a breath. Have a muffin.
Mr. Tuttle? Can I speak to you for a minute? Great muffins. Thank you. Um -- we
never meant to embarrass or harm anyone.
Earl: Ah, you city folk are all about free love, but we don't believe in
letting it all hang out here in elk green. Yeah, we believe in keeping our
clothes on in public, and we expect visitors to do the same.
Leo: I'm going to be real honest with you, ok? Greenlee's going through a
very difficult time right now. She just lost her father. Yeah. And my mother,
believe it or not, actually tried to kill Greenlee not once, but several times.
Earl: Well, I can see how she wears on your nerves.
Leo: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Earl. That's my girl. This is no joke, buddy.
All right? My mother tried to kill my girlfriend. That's why we're on the run.
I'm trying to protect the woman I love.
Earl: Oh, that's some story.
Leo: No, it's the truth, ok? I'm telling you the truth. Now, maybe we can
work this out. You know, maybe --
Earl: Are you bribing an officer of the court? Well, you just opened yourself
another hot kettle of trouble!
Tad: How can you be so cold?
Edmund: Oh, don't judge me.
Tad: How can you -- how can you watch her go though something like that and
just stand there and do nothing?
Edmund: How could she find my wife and do nothing?
Tad: Edmund, you can't seriously believe that she put her heart and soul into
searching for Maria just so that she could keep it from you.
Edmund: Hmm. First of all, she lied to me and you helped her, all right?
Second of all, that is exactly what she did, all right? She stood there, she
looked me in the eye, and she took my name, and she had no right to.
Tad: I was with her the entire time. I am telling you, she would die for you.
Edmund: No, she would use anything and anyone just to get what she wants.
Tad: You know that's not true. So, what are you saying? That you don't love
her anymore? That you can just turn it off and go numb in spite of everything
she's meant to you?
Edmund: Stop defending her --
Tad: Well, somebody's got to. She made a mistake -- a miserable, colossal,
mind-bending mistake.
Edmund: She knew exactly what she was doing. That mistake -- she didn't care
what it would cost my children or their mother.
Tad: Well, how many times have you done something you regretted? How many
times have you asked for forgiveness?
Edmund: This can't be forgiven.
Jamie: If you're going away, what happens to me?
Maggie: Great. We're friends. I'll send you a post card.
Bianca: So that's it? You're just going to bail? Look, just because David is
totally messed up doesn't mean he doesn't love you. And, you know, so does Leo.
And, frankly, you're everything I could've asked for in a friend.
Maggie: Well, you're the first friend I’ve ever had, so don't expect much.
Bianca: You know how when we split some nachos, you let me have all the hot
sauce? And when my mom does something that makes me completely insane, you let
me vent forever. That's what being best friends is all about.
Maggie: That's not so hard.
Bianca: Well, I guess you're a natural.
Maggie: Bianca, what do you want from me?
Bianca: Nothing. I'm just -- I'm just saying that you've made a life for
yourself here and I don't know why you would turn your back on that.
Maggie: Well, in case you haven't noticed it, it's sort of in meltdown.
Bianca: Well, we won't let it. I won't let it.
Maggie: Oh, what, you're going to patch up my whole freaky family while
you're at it?
Bianca: If I have to, I'll be your family.
Maggie: You think Erica would freak out if I called her Mom?
Maggie: You know what? I've been blubbering all morning. I'm -- I’m going to
go wash my face.
[Bianca makes a phone call]
Bianca: Tim, it's Bianca. When you get this message, come over to the Valley
Inn as soon as possible. I need reinforcements.
Maggie: I don't believe it. How many times are you going to do this?
Bianca: Well, it's just Tim. I thought that you might want to talk --
Maggie: Don't you get it? Bianca, I don't need Tim. I don't need anyone.
Kendall: So, how about that coffee?
J.R.: Yeah, sure.
Kendall: Well, you are in luck because I am an expert at instant coffee.
J.R.: I'm an expert at being an idiot.
Kendall: You're not an idiot.
J.R.: I shouldn't have barged in like this, ok, Kendall?
Kendall: No -- you know what? I asked you to come in, ok? I invited you in
here. As for last night, we can't act like nothing happened.
J.R.: But we wish it didn't?
Kendall: I'm not sorry, J.R. We were both feeling low. It was just one of
those things.
J.R.: That's all it was?
Kendall: That's all.
J.R.: So what? Ok, we kissed. It's not like -- it's not like we can't be
friends and hang out.
Kendall: We're having coffee, aren't we?
J.R.: Look, I know you were totally all about Ryan and everything, and I
understand that.
Kendall: I still am.
J.R.: I know this is going to sound weird, but I'm saying if we could just
maybe, like, hang out every once in a while. You know, it's not like -- you have
a boyfriend? Already?
Kendall: Jeez. Do I look like I would go out with someone who put these on
his feet?
J.R.: How am I supposed to know?
Kendall: They are my roommate's, Trey’s.
J.R.: That's all? He's just your roommate?
Kendall: Yes, that's all. Like you and me are just friends.
J.R.: God, I’m sorry. That was stupid.
Kendall: No, no, it's all right. It's ok. People have thought worse of me.
J.R.: Ryan believed in you.
Kendall: Well, he shouldn't have.
J.R.: You know, it's weird because I thought -- I thought you guys were
really in love, you know, like no lying and no games. I thought -- I thought you
guys were going to be together forever.
Kendall: Well, I'm not very good with forever.
J.R.: You miss him?
Kendall: Only when I breathe.
J.R.: You know what the cool part about Ryan was? He didn't care about my
screw-ups. He didn't -- he didn't lecture me. He was just -- just there. And he
made me feel like I really mattered.
Kendall: Yeah. Ryan had a way of doing that.
J.R.: So do you. Look, maybe -- maybe that's why being with you the other
night felt so good. It wasn't just the fact that -- that we were -- you know.
It's just I’ve never felt that connected before.
Kendall: J.R., Last night helped me. It did. But even if we connected, that
doesn't mean that --
J.R.: That it's going anywhere. Ok, thank you, Kendall. I think I got that.
Kendall: Hey.
J.R.: I embarrassed you by bringing these to you, didn't I? God, I’m sorry. I
embarrass myself. I can't help it.
Kendall: No, no.
J.R.: It's just --
Kendall: Don't -- don't be sorry.
J.R.: You're so -- you're so beautiful.
Kendall: Thank you. And you're adorable, J.R. You really are. But no matter
how good this felt -- what happened between us -- it can never happen again.
Bianca: Maggie, what are you afraid of?
Maggie: I'm not.
Bianca: Well, then, why are you so harsh about Tim?
Maggie: Because you're always doing this.
Bianca: Oh, don't put this on me. Tim has been honest and kind, and you're
constantly pushing him away.
Maggie: And he is not what I need right now. I don't need him yukking
everything up. I'm not in the mood for the Tim show right now -- or ever.
Bianca: Well, you kissed him. You must feel something for him.
Maggie: I am not doing this again, Bianca! I'm not!
Tad: How can you just shut her out when she's given everything she has to
make your life better?
Edmund: This is different, and you know it.
Tad: Listen -- look, the only reason that Maria is back in pine valley is
because of Brooke.
Edmund: Oh, that's sick.
Tad: It's the truth, and she deserves your forgiveness.
Edmund: I can't give it.
Tad: You tried to kidnap Erica. You practically killed your own brother.
Edmund: You're crossing a line here, Tad --
Tad: How many times did you beg for their forgiveness and get it?
Edmund: All right, all right --
Tad: Doesn't she deserve the same consideration?
Edmund: Get out of my house.
Tad: She made a mistake because she loves you. After everything you've shared
with her, you can't just turn your back on her forever.
Jamie: Were you just going to take off?
Brooke: Oh, no. Jamie, no, I -- I was going to tell you.
Jamie: Yeah.
Brooke: I'm going to call your dad and ask him if you can stay there a little
while. Is that ok?
Jamie: Sure. Whatever.
Brooke: You're taking heat for what I did. I'm so sorry.
Jamie: Why did you do it, Mom?
Brooke: There were a lot of reasons at the time -- none of them good. That's
why I have to go away and sort of sort things out.
Jamie: Will you come back?
Brooke: Oh, Honey, you are what's right in my life. I would always come home
to you.
Jamie: What if something happens to you?
Brooke: I'll be fine.
Jamie: You told Dad you didn't deserve to live.
Brooke: You heard that? Honey, I’m so -- I’m so sorry.
Jamie: J.R.'s mom left and she never came back.
Brooke: I swear to you, I will never do anything to hurt myself. And I could
never stay away from you, Jamie.
Jamie: I just want you to be ok. So you made a mistake. You're the best mom
ever.
Brooke: I love you so much.
Jamie: I love you, too, Mom. I love you.
Leo: A bribe? You think that this -- you think that this is a bribe? No, that
would be against the law. I was just offering you the money as services
rendered.
Earl: What services?
Leo: The sign outside. It says you're a justice of the peace, right?
Earl: Yeah.
Leo: Well, I want you to marry me and Greenlee.
Leo: [Quietly to Greenlee] Just go along with this.
Earl: Is this some kind of a trick?
Leo: No, sir, I’ve never been more serious in my life. Greenlee Smythe, will
you marry me?
Greenlee: What if I say no? Yes, I’ll marry you!
Leo: Oh, baby. Oh, that's so great. The best day of my life. Well? So, will
you do us the honors? Will this 50 take care of it? And then maybe after we're
gone, you can let us go? I mean, I'd hate for my new bride to have to spend the
night in jail.
Earl: Well, I'm not so --
Lureen: Earl --
Earl: What?
Lureen: I want to talk to you.
Greenlee: What if he finds out we're married? He'll arrest us for lying -- or
bigamy, or pigamy, or whatever --
Leo: Shh. Trust me, ok?
Leo: Hey, Earl, I have a confession to make. A few months
ago, you married my brother.
Earl: Oh, is that right?
Leo: Yeah. He goes on and on about how beautiful the ceremony was, and, well,
I’d be honored if -- if you'd do the same for me and my girl.
Lureen: What's your brother's name?
Leo: David Hayward?
Lureen: Oh, the doctor.
Leo: Yeah.
Lureen: He married that lady with the funny accent -- Anna something?
Leo: That's right.
Lureen: You remember, Earl. They were so shy about saying their vows. But
there sure was a lot of rambunction in the bridal suite.
Earl: Lureen --
Leo: So, what do you say, Earl? Will you do the honors?
Lureen: Young love -- it's just so romantic.
Leo: Oh, well, we're going to live till we're old on this love, Lureen. When
I first met her, she changed me. She -- well, she made me a better -- anyway,
she's like a bubble bath in Paris. She's like a perfect day in Central Park.
She's like poison berries on a deserted island.
Greenlee: You were allergic.
Leo: No matter where I am, Greenlee, when I’m with you, I'm home.
Greenlee: Leo --
Leo: I would renew my vows with you every hour --
Earl: Renew your vows? You married already?
Leo: No --
Earl: Missy -- is anyone in this room going to tell me the truth anytime
soon?
Leo: Mr. Tuttle --
Greenlee: It's only because we didn't--
Earl: Oh, zip it. I'm a professional. I know true love when I see it. Do you
really want to renew your vows?
Leo: Absolutely.
Earl: Well, then, let's have a wedding.
Leo: Uh -- 20, 30, 40, 50 --
Earl: Well, you may be a little big for your britches, but Lureen's a
romantic and so am I. Honey Cups?
Lureen: I think we still have the bouquet his sister-in-law used. It'll bring
you luck.
Earl: Ok, young lovers, now, get down here in front. Ahem. All right. Now, we
are gathered here together --
Greenlee: You can skip that part.
Earl: Skip that part? Yeah, all right. Do you, Leo du Pres, renew your vows
to have Greenlee Smythe as your lawful wedded wife?
Leo: I do.
Earl: Do you promise from this day forward to be her faithful husband, for
better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and
cherish as long as you both shall live?
Leo: I do.
Earl: And do you promise from this day forward to be his faithful wife, for
better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and
cherish as long as you both shall live?
Greenlee: I do.
Earl: Well, then by the power vested in me by the commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, I pronounce you man and wife -- again. You may kiss your wife.
Greenlee: Wow. That was good, even if it was a stunt.
Leo: It wasn't a stunt, baby. Here, let me -- I meant it. I'm going to spend
every minute of the rest of my life loving and protecting you.
Greenlee: Don't you wish we could do this --
Leo: As soon as we can get out of here --
Greenlee: Don't you wish we could do this all the time?
Leo: What, get married?
Greenlee: No, hit the road, have adventures. Too bad we'll be sleeping with
spiders for the rest of our lives. Ugh!
Leo: Yeah, wish we could just bust out of here.
Lureen: We usually give this to the newlyweds who stay in the bridal suite.
Greenlee: Ooh, is this the jailhouse special? Where's the nail file?
Lureen: Um -- if you slip away right now, I'll talk the mister down. Consider
it a wedding present.
Greenlee: Oh --
Leo: Oh, Lureen, you are such a classy woman.
Lureen: Oh. How are David and Anna doing?
Greenlee: Fine.
Leo: Great.
Greenlee and Leo: Fine.
Lureen: Well, give them my best. Oh, bye-bye now.
Leo: Bye-bye. Thank you.
Edmund: Whatever I do or don't do with Brooke is none of your business --
even though that's never stopped you before.
Tad: She was willing to give up years of her happiness for my sake. I won't
let her go through this alone.
Edmund: Oh, I'm sure you won’t.
[Phone rings]
Tad: Excuse me.
Tad: Hello?
Brooke: Tad?
Tad: Hey, are you ok?
Brooke: I'm going away.
Tad: What?
Brooke: Can you look after Jamie?
Tad: Sure. Where are you going?
Brooke: That's not important.
Tad: Brooke, come on. Just --
Brooke: Don't, Tad.
Tad: Well, where's Jamie now?
Brooke: He's here with me, and Aunt Phoebe is going to be with him.
Tad: I'll pick him up.
Brooke: Thank you.
Tad: Ok. Well, you know where to find me if you need anything. Just promise
me you'll try to take care of yourself.
Edmund: Brooke's going away?
Tad: Yeah. Do me a favor -- don't tell me you're surprised.
Brooke: Are you ok with this?
Jamie: As long as you promise to come back.
Brooke: Look at me. I love you. That will never change. We're going to be ok.
I promise you.
Brooke: Oh, Jamie. What have I done to you?
Bianca: Ok, look -- truce. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called Tim. I just
thought that maybe if you wouldn't stay for me, you would stay for him.
Maggie: If you say his name again, I’m leaving.
Bianca: Ok. Look, I just wanted you to know that you have people in your life
who care about you. Get used to it.
Maggie: I'm sorry. I was just freaking out this morning about David and Anna
and -- I just wanted to get the hell out of here.
Bianca: And now?
Maggie: Well, I mean, leaving is all I know, you know -- get up, walk out the
door, clean, fresh start. And then you showed up, which is the last thing I
wanted -- or the only thing I wanted. I don't know which.
Bianca: Look, there's nothing wrong with needing people who you care about.
Maggie: Yeah, and then just be set up for the whole, big letdown? I mean,
what's the point of that?
Bianca: It doesn't have to be that way.
Maggie: You know, you have to understand that my dad left, my mother was in a
bottle, and Frankie got out as soon as she could. I learned that the best way to
go is just to go solo.
Bianca: So that's it? Maggie against the world and you're just going to take
off?
Maggie: Well, that was the plan until you showed up at my door and read me
the riot act. And then you called Tim, which really ticked me off. But it hit me
-- you know, put Anna and that whole David thing aside. I mean, I feel safest
here when I’m with you.
Bianca: So you're going to stay?
Maggie: Well, I'm the only friend you've got. Maybe you're right about the
whole Frankie thing -- it being her fault and all. And she would be cracking up
over this mush fest right now.
Bianca: Well, the first time that I told Frankie that I loved her, she
freaked out. She said that nobody had ever said those words to her in her whole
life. But when you love someone, you should tell them. I love you. That's just
the way it is. As a friend. I'm not going there. Don't get me wrong. I'm just
saying --
Maggie: I know what -- I know what you're saying. I'm -- I'm not worried. The
question is, are you?
Kendall: J.R., You are a great guy. You're -- you're smart. You're funny.
You're charming. You're fabulous --
J.R.: Right, but I’m just a kid. I got it.
Kendall: No. I think you are a major hottie who is going to rock some girl's
world.
J.R.: But I don't want to be with some other girl.
Kendall: You say this now, but you just wait until the right one hits your
radar.
J.R.: I like you, Kendall.
Kendall: I know.
J.R.: Then why does it matter? What's the big deal?
Kendall: I told you last night I will mess up your life. That is what I do
best. Especially to people who take a chance on me.
J.R.: I don't know if you've noticed this or not, but my life is screwed up
as it is. I don't think it can get much worse.
Kendall: You have no idea what I’m capable of.
J.R.: I'd like to know.
Kendall: Thank you for the flowers and for last night, but we can only be
friends. Do you understand?
J.R.: Do I have to?
Bianca: The only thing that I’m worried about is seeing you walk out that
door.
Maggie: Well, until now, when in doubt, leaving is all I knew.
Bianca: Well, I guess you're just going to have to stick around and see what
happens.
Maggie: All right, you want to help me unpack?
Bianca: Nachos when we're done?
Kendall: J.R., This is a very good thing. This is a good thing. We're going
to be friends and --
J.R.: Stop. Stop. Listen, I got it. Ok? Can I -- can I tell you something as
a friend?
Kendall: Of course. Sure.
J.R.: Your coffee's lousy.
Kendall: Thanks a lot.
Leo: Did you mean what you said earlier?
Greenlee: That Lureen's muffins were good?
Leo: No -- about living a life of madcap adventure.
Greenlee: Every word. We can't just take off, can we?
Leo: Want to not go home?
Greenlee: More than anything.
Leo: To New York City it is.
[Greenlee laughs]
ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN
Opal: What kind of hi-jinks are going on in there?
Liza: Have you been talking to my husband behind my back?
Maggie: There's a patient here who says she's going to die without you.
Tad: I found out where David was around the time of the crash.
Anna: Do we have enough to nail him?
Edmund: What's wrong?
Mateo: Maria wants to leave.
