Trey: You're doing this
for Greenlee.
I'm sure she'll forgive you when
we find the Proteus money.
Leo: And return it.
Greenlee: Don't get too
close.
They're going to think that
we're tailing them.
Anna: I need your help.
David has done enough damage,
and he needs to be stopped
before he causes any more pain.
But I can't do that
without your statement.
Will you help us?
TODAY’S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN
[Leo and Trey in Leo’s car]
Leo: Ok.
Now, when we see Vanessa, we got
to make sure --
Trey: She's Nessa now.
If she reverts back
to her Vanessa personality,
we won't get anything.
So don't do anything to trigger
her dark side.
Leo: Hey, I am always careful
with that woman no matter who
she is.
You know, maybe we should try,
like, a good cop/bad cop,
good son/bad son thing.
What do you think?
Trey: Yeah.
Yeah, that sounds good.
Leo: I mean, I think it
would, I don't know,
get her to spill something
maybe.
Trey: Yeah, and one of us is
kind and sensitive, the other is
cold and businesslike.
That could work with Nessa.
Leo: I wonder if it would
impress them.
Trey: Who?
Leo: Whoever's following us.
Looks like somebody's just
as anxious as we are to visit
Vanessa.
[Car accelerates]
[Greenlee and Kendall in Kendall’s car]
Greenlee: Take it easy.
You're practically on
their bumper.
Kendall: And you are
definitely getting on my last
nerve.
Greenlee: If you don't let up
on the gas pedal, I’m going
to get on a lot more than that.
Kendall: Would you stop
distracting me, please?
Greenlee: Leo and Trey are
going to see us, Kendall.
Kendall: Damn it.
Greenlee: What?
What, did they see us?
[Car accelerates]
Greenlee: What are you doing?
Kendall: Hang on.
They're trying to lose us
and I’ll be damned if I’m going
to let that happen.
[Wildwild]
[Anna talks to Maria on the phone]
Maria: I don't understand.
Who would David hurt?
Anna: I -- I don't want
to influence your deposition,
Ms. Gorman.
Maria: What am
I supposed to say about David?
Anna: Just the truth --
you know, what he did after
the plane crash, what he said.
Maria: I won't do it.
Anna: David is facing very
serious charges where you're
concerned.
Maria: Well, I’m not going
to do it without talking
to David first.
Anna: All right.
I'll bring him to the station
and then you and he can talk,
and then I’ll take your
statement.
Maria: No, I need to talk
to David alone, not --
no police, no lawyers.
Anna: I would advise against
that.
Maria: Well, those are
my terms.
Edmund: Maria, don't meet
Hayward by yourself.
Maria: Thank you.
I've -- I’m handling this, ok?
Look, if you find Dr. Hayward,
just call me back and we can --
Anna: He's right here.
[David takes the phone from Anna]
David: Maureen?
Maria: Meet me where
we talked before.
David: Why do you want to --
[Maria hangs up]
Maria: Where you told me all
those lies.
Edmund: I'm not going to let
You.
Maria: Edmund, you can't
stop me.
Edmund: Well, that's where
you're wrong.
Maria: No.
Look, if we are ever going
to have a chance, I have got
to do this for myself.
Edmund: If we're going to --
Maria: I'm -- I’ve got to go.
Edmund: What --
[Edmund opens the front door]
Brooke: I didn't know I’d find you here.
Maria: Obviously.
Brooke: No, I mean either
of you.
I -- I just thought that
you were out.
Maria: Well, I was just
on my way out.
Brooke: Don't leave
on my account.
Maria: Nope, I have somebody
I have to meet.
Edmund: Do -- listen,
I’m asking you, do not meet him
alone.
Maria: And we have already
had this discussion.
Edmund: Hayward is unstable.
Look, how do you know he's not
going to hurt you?
Maria: That would only get
him more jail time.
That doesn't -- look,
Edmund, I know that you probably
knew what was right for Maria,
but I’m not her and I don't feel
like I ever was.
Edmund: Yeah, we've already
established that.
Maria: Look, I’m sorry.
I'm really sorry.
I don't mean to hurt you.
I just -- you just push
and you push and I don't know
how else to get it through
to you, ok?
Don't follow me.
[Maria leaves]
Edmund: Welcome to our happy
home.
Brooke: I'm sorry I’ve
come at a bad time.
Edmund: Tough to pick a good
one these days.
So, you're back from wherever
you went.
Brooke: Aunt Phoebe's cabin.
I just had to sort some things
out.
Edmund: How'd it go?
All sorted out?
Brooke: Not entirely.
Edmund: Sorry I can't help
you.
Brooke: No, I didn't --
I didn't come here for help.
Edmund: Yeah, right.
Couldn't wait to see how Edmund
and Maria are doing, huh?
Brooke: That's not why.
Edmund: Yeah, right.
So, did you get an earful?
You happy now?
Brooke: I came because Maddie
called me.
She -- she just wanted me
to come over as soon as I could.
[Anna’s hotel room]
Anna: Well, you might be
disappointed.
David: You think so, huh?
Anna: Yeah, Maria wants
to talk to you, but I don't
think she'll listen to you.
David: You really sure about
that?
Anna: I don't know.
You tell me.
You were brainwashing
her for five years.
How well did it work?
David: Is this official?
You want to drag me down
to the police station
and question me, that's one
thing.
Apart from that, you and I are
divorced.
I don't talk with Anna Devane
unless it concerns my child,
and I don't deal with Chief
Devane unless compelled by law.
Anna: Don't think about
running.
You won't get more than 15 yards
away from Maria before you'd be
arrested.
David: As I already told you,
as long as you're here carrying
my child, I’m not going
anywhere.
Anna: You might go to prison.
David: Do you honestly
believe that I’m going to end up
doing time because some guard
clumsily fell on a syringe
I happened to be holding?
I'll end up getting community
service and a suspended
sentence, if you're lucky.
Anna: We'll wait and see what
Maria has to say.
You might not get out before
you need a walker.
David: Oh, I guess we'll see
about that, huh?
Anna: Oh, God.
[Knock on door]
Anna: Hi.
I thought you were David.
Jack: No, but I passed him
coming out of the elevator.
Anna: Yeah, it's ok.
I'm having him tailed.
Jack: Good.
And I would say that
from the bleak look on his face,
you probably told him
the divorce is final.
Anna: And I told him I’m
keeping his child.
God.
That's a huge mistake.
Leo: I don't see any more
headlights, do you?
Trey: No.
Leo: Oh.
Trey: I think you lost them.
Leo: Oh, God!
My heart, man.
I almost wrapped this thing
around a bridge structure.
Did you see that?
Who was that?
Trey: Whoever it was
or whatever they want,
I’ll take care of them.
Leo: What is that supposed
to mean?
Trey: It means don't worry
about it, Bro.
I've got us covered.
Leo: Are you carrying?
Trey: How smart would
that be?
I'm an attorney with an assumed
identity.
Leo: Yeah, that would be
incredibly stupid.
So I’m going to ask you again,
are you carrying a gun?
Trey: Hey, there's
the Bastille at 12:00,
The building where they're
holding our mother.
Leo: Oh, let's hope
she remembers something.
Trey: Nessa was so close
to telling us where the money's
hidden.
Leo: Chris Stamp thought
he could relocate her.
Trey: Maybe she's already
told the feds where the money
is.
Leo: I don't care.
As long as the good guys have
the stash, that's just fine
with me.
[Leo sighs]
Trey: Yeah.
Leo: I'm just -- I just want
this -- this whole money
situation to be over
with so I can stop lying
to Greenlee and start fresh
in Paris.
Trey: Then step on it, we can
take care of business.
Let's go.
Greenlee: Steering
and watching the road was too
much for you to handle?
Kendall: Will you shut up?
Greenlee: I knew hooking up
with you was a bad idea.
Why didn't I listen to my inner
voice?
Kendall: Maybe because it's
as grating and obnoxious
as your outer voice.
Greenlee: As of now,
our united effort to get
the scoop on Trey is officially
severed.
Kendall: Wait a minute. I know where we are.
The only thing at the end
of this road is -- is a gas
station and an old hotel.
Greenlee: There are
no intersections?
No driveways to private homes?
Kendall: Zero.
Greenlee: Then what are
you waiting for?
Step on it.
[Car accelerates]
[Outside Vanessa’s room]
Guard: Mrs. Cortlandt,
you in there?
Vanessa: Gary, you silly boy.
Where else would I be?
Did you get those books
I ordered?
Gary: They haven't arrived
yet, but something better is
on the way.
Vanessa: Well, don't keep me
in suspense.
Gary: You're about to get
some company.
Vanessa: Oh.
Gary: May I help you,
gentlemen?
Trey: I'm James Kenyon III,
Mrs. Cortland’s attorney.
I believe Judge Wilson’s office
contacted you.
Gary: Yes, sir.
You're free to meet
with your client.
Only Mr. Kenyon has clearance.
Leo: I'm Mrs. Cortland’s
son, so --
Trey: I invited Mr. du Pres
to accompany me.
Leo, you have ID, don't you?
Leo: Yeah, of course.
I haven't seen my mother since
she moved, so I’m a little
excited there.
Mm-hmm.
There we go.
Gary: This is
Mrs. Cortland’s room.
Knock before going in.
She likes her privacy.
Vanessa: Oh, Trey, dear?
Come in.
Oh.
Trey: Nessa.
Vanessa: Oh, dear,
I’m so thrilled you came to see
me.
Trey: I come bearing gifts.
Vanessa: Oh, my dear,
dear, dear boys!
Leo: Hello, Mama.
Vanessa: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Oh, you've both come for me!
Oh, this is the answer to all
my prayers.
Oh.
Kendall: Well, never mind
that.
We don't even know what we're
looking for.
Gary: Can I help you, ladies?
Brooke: Maddie sounded upset.
Edmund: She called tonight?
Brooke: Just a little while
ago.
She wasn't crying.
She -- she just said that
you were busy with her Angel
Mommy and -- and could I come
over and see her.
I'm sorry.
I -- I’m sorry I didn't check
with you or Maria before I came
over.
Edmund: Well, if you'd --
ahem -- if you'd check
with Maria, you would've gotten
Maureen, and I don't know what
she would've said.
Brooke: And if I had checked
with you?
Edmund: Probably would've
told you not to come.
Brooke: Do you want me to go?
Edmund: I don't know.
None of my answers seem right
these days.
Brooke: It'll get better.
Edmund: I keep trying to help
it along.
Look, Maureen doesn't
want my help.
And the kids -- they're more
confused than I am.
Brooke: Well, because
they don't know what's going on.
Edmund: Who does?
For the past five years,
I’ve had them worshiping this --
this mother that they don't
remember, and now she's here
physically, but --
Brooke: But Maria doesn't
remember being a mother.
Edmund: She doesn't feel
anything for them.
I mean, she's nice and kind.
She likes them for who they are,
but that's about as far as it
goes.
Brooke: For now.
But that will change, Edmund.
You have to believe that.
Edmund: I don't know what
to believe anymore.
Brooke: Listen -- you know,
none of you existed for Maria up
till a few weeks ago.
You know, you just have to wait.
Bits and pieces will come back
to her.
They --
what's wrong?
Edmund: I was just thinking
how different it might've been
if you succeeded
and Maureen stayed in Nevada.
Brooke: I was terribly wrong.
And I would do anything to make
amends, but I know that that's
not possible because what I did
was unforgivable.
I know that.
But if you would let me help,
I would try to do anything
I could to help you and Sam
and Maddie -- and Maria,
if I can.
Jack: Anna, what's the huge
mistake -- keeping the child
or telling David that you're
planning to keep the child?
Anna: Oh, no, no, no.
Not keeping the child.
No, I could never do anything
else.
I just --
I let David think that
I terminated the pregnancy.
I mean, I knew it would really
floor him that a mere woman
could tamper with the offspring
of the great David Hayward,
so --
Jack: Yes.
[Anna sighs]
Jack: Tell me, did that give
you the desired effect?
Anna: No.
It was cruel.
I really just thought maybe it
would give me a chance to go off
and have the baby without him
knowing.
Jack: Yeah, yeah.
Sounds like a good game plan.
Why didn't you stick to it?
I mean, I got to tell you,
keeping an innocent baby away
from David Hayward sounds like
just good maternal instinct.
Anna: I couldn't lie
about it.
Yeah.
And by the end of the fight,
I was already threatening him
with prison time to keep him
away from the child.
Jack: Well, that threat just
may become a reality once we get
Maria’s testimony.
When is she scheduled to give
her statement?
Anna: She won't talk to us.
Jack: She won't talk to us?
You know, Jake Martin warned me
that something like this might
happen.
Damn!
Anna: I told her that all
she needed was to give us
a statement, but she said that
she wouldn't consider it until
she spoke to David -- alone.
Jack: Oh, well, there's
a big, fat chance of that
happening.
Anna: Well, they're meeting
right now.
Jack: You're kidding, right?
Anna: No --
Jack: You agreed to that?
Anna: Well, it was the only
way that I could get
her to cooperate with us.
Jack: Cooperate with us?
She's going to cooperate
with him.
Anna, what the hell were
you thinking?
[The mausoleum at Wildwind]
David: Maureen?
David: If I knew back then
all the trouble you would
cause --
hey.
I'm glad you wanted to meet me.
Maria: I thought
you might be.
David: So,
what is it you wanted to say?
Maria: I'm sorry. I --
I thought maybe you might have
some things you wanted
to tell me.
Am I right?
Vanessa: Oh, my boys.
Oh, if only David were here
with us -- he isn't, is he?
Leo: No, it's just us.
Vanessa: Oh, that would make
the reunion complete.
My two boys -- oh, look at you.
There's no trouble is there?
Bad news?
Leo: No.
Vanessa: You did come to tell
me how close you've become?
Trey: Well, we're working
on it.
Leo: We've got a ways to go,
but, yeah, we're working on it.
Trey: We're definitely
getting to know each other
better.
Leo: But that's not why
we came here.
We came to see how you are.
Everything's good?
Vanessa: Well --
Trey: Yeah, we only found out
today that you'd been moved.
Leo: Yeah, nobody told us
anything about this.
Trey: I wanted to file
a lawsuit against them,
but everyone involved is
a little bit more powerful than
we are.
Leo: Well, that didn't stop
Trey from threatening everybody
from the supreme court
to the FBI with dire
consequences if they didn't let
him see you.
Vanessa: Oh, but you did all
that for me?
Leo: Oh, you can forget about
DNA because this guy's skill
for scamming people is proof
enough that he's your son,
my brother, and Vanessa’s blood
runs through all of us.
Trey: It always comes back
to Vanessa, doesn't it?
Leo: Yeah.
Vanessa: Well, thank God that
dreadful screw is gone and --
and you have me from now on.
I mean, Vanessa’s vanquished.
Trey: Well, yes, but we'll
never be completely rid
of her until the authorities
have the 10 million she hid.
Leo: That's right,
that's right, so if you can
remember anything, anything that
might lead us to the money,
that'd be great.
Trey: Yeah, yeah,
someone -- someone that she may
have spent a lot of time
with that you disliked.
Anything.
Vanessa: Well -- this is
dreadful.
I mean, the people I knew --
that wouldn't be hard at all.
Vanessa had terrible,
terrible taste in friends.
I suppose they were just all
hoodlums, you know,
sort of dreadful henchmen --
Trey: Can you remember any
unexpected trip she might've
taken to a place where
she could've stashed
$10 million?
I mean, please, just try,
rack your brain, anything.
This means everything to Leo.
Greenlee: Hmm.
Maybe you don't know what you're
looking for, but I do.
Gary: Ladies --
Kendall: Ooh, don't call us
that.
It sounds so old.
Greenlee: Trust me.
She's no lady.
Kendall: Hmm. So true.
Gary: So who are you?
What are you looking for?
Kendall: Well, ideally,
two men.
But we'll settle for one.
Greenlee: Could you possibly
be more forward?
Kendall: You want to find
out?
Greenlee: You know, the men
we know are so dull.
Kendall: Oh, so dense.
Greenlee: Yeah, really
boring.
And so we decided to take a sort
of mini road trip.
Kendall: Yes, like
prospecting, and it looks like
we've struck gold.
Greenlee: Mm-hmm.
Kendall: Well, is that a gun
or are you just happy to see us,
too?
Gary: It's a gun.
Now you answer something for me.
Kendall: Anything.
Gary: Which one of you girls
wants to be arrested first?
Jack: Really, Anna, what were
you thinking about?
I mean, this is some bonehead
move!
You can't make me believe that
you really want David to walk?
Anna: I don't want him
to walk.
He's not going to.
I did not compromise the case.
Jack: You didn't compromise
the case?
Right now he is alone and,
undoubtedly, intimidating
the hell out of the one
witness we have that could put
him away!
Anna: You don't know that!
Jack: Oh, I don't know that.
Ok.
Let's say, just for the sake
of argument, that all
of a sudden David Hayward is
above threats and blackmail.
You are living proof that
this man can be pretty damn
persuasive when he wants to be.
Anna: I didn't have a choice.
Maria didn't give me one.
She wanted to talk to him alone,
end of story.
Jack: Well, you should've
thought of one.
I mean, you should've kept her.
You should've stalled her.
You should've brought her in,
something.
Anna: I couldn't do that.
You know, David has not been
formally charged with anything
to do --
Jack: Yes, I know that.
Anna: With Maria’s
disappearance and she isn't
under subpoena, so to drag
her down to the station,
it's not going to bring her over
to our side.
Jack: Ok. You're right.
Let's just hope while we're
standing here talking about
this that he's not bringing
her over to his side.
Anna: If he still does have
an influence over her, isn't it
better to find out now before
we go to trial and she does
a whole 180 on the stand?
Jack: Yes, yes.
Anna: Makes us all look like
a fool?
You know, if I could have
stopped this, I would have.
Nobody, not even you,
wants to put him away more than
I do.
Jack: Ok.
I just hope --
I just wish he wasn't so good
at what he does.
Anna: Duping weak,
stupid women.
Jack: No, actually,
it's worse than that, Anna.
Given your history with this
man, it's obvious that he can
also dupe highly intelligent,
very strong women.
Anna: Oh, thank you, I think.
I don't know.
Whatever power he had over me is
finished.
I just hope I didn't wait too
long to end it.
David: Well, of course
you don't remember anything
about the night I found you.
Well, in that regard,
your memory loss is a blessing.
I thought I heard something
in the wind, some sound of maybe
an animal suffering.
And then when I trained
my flashlight across the sand,
that's when I saw you -- dying.
And, of course, I thought
immediately that I should put
you in my car and rush
you to the hospital, but after
closer examination, I realized
that there was no way, no way
that you would make it
to the hospital alive.
Maria: So you cared for me.
David: Well, I couldn't very
well just hold you in my arms
and watch you die, let you go
without doing everything humanly
possible, everything within
my power to save you.
I realized right then there were
no alternatives.
I needed to risk my career,
my entire future --
Maria: By using an
experimental drug on me.
David: By keeping you alive,
Maureen.
By using whatever methods
necessary -- however
unorthodox -- to save your life.
And thank God I was able to do
that.
So, here we both are,
affected by the path that
I chose to take.
But what would you have me do
otherwise, Maureen?
Hmm?
As difficult as your life ma
seem right now, would you really
have preferred death?
Brooke: Why is Maria going
to meet David Hayward?
Edmund: Oh, testimony.
The DA's trying to build
a case against him, and
they want her to testify
and she wants to speak to him
alone, in spite of what I told
her.
Brooke: I don't think that
you can take anything at Maria
says to heart, Edmund.
You know, she's -- she's under
a certain amount of pressure,
too.
Edmund: It's not getting
better.
Brooke: You mean,
because it's affecting Sam
and Maddie?
Edmund: That and
we had a session
with Dr. McMillan and
Maria said that she doesn't want
to live here.
Brooke: Well, she -- she's
just uncomfortable.
You know, Wildwind --
Edmund: She doesn't want
to live -- she doesn't live here
and she doesn't want
to move back
in with us.
Brooke: Well, she doesn't
remember, so it's not like she's
moving back in.
You know, when she remembers --
Edmund: She may never
remember.
Brooke: Edmund, you can't
think like that.
Edmund: That's Dr. McMillan’s
opinion.
Brooke: You have to give this
time, you know, for --
for people and places to --
you know, to jog her memory.
Edmund: People like
her husband?
Her children?
Brooke: Listen, she --
she was very protective
to Maddie that first night.
Edmund: Maureen's not
inhuman, Brooke, she's just not
Maria.
Brooke: But, I mean, I --
that's going to change because,
I mean, who could resist falling
in love with Sam and Maddie
and --
Edmund: Maureen?
It wasn't just an hour ago
she told my kids that she can't
be their mother,
that she can't find it
in herself.
Kendall: Well, excuse us!
Greenlee: If you're not
interested, just say so.
Kendall: Yeah, you don't have
to hit us over the head.
Greenlee: We can go elsewhere
for a good time.
Kendall: And we thought
you were so nice.
Gary: And so dumb?
Greenlee: It's been real.
Kendall: Yeah, surreal.
Kendall: Well, now what?
Greenlee: Leo and Trey are
in that room.
I can feel it in my bones.
Kendall: Yeah, but J. Edgar
Hottie is guarding it and he's
packing heat.
Greenlee: There's another
way in.
Kendall: What, and me
without my retractable spider
web?
What?
Greenlee: No, no,
no, we don't have to go through
the outside walls.
We can -- just the opposite.
Kendall: Translation?
Greenlee: Something I learned
when Leo married Laura.
Come on.
Kendall: No, no, no, no.
Maybe we should ask ourselves
why the guys lied to us about
where they were going
and ended up in a motel being
guarded by some FBI-type.
Greenlee: I'll fill
in the blanks later.
Come on, we can't waste time.
Vanessa: Oh, having you boys
with me is the beginning of all
my dreams come true.
Trey: Yeah, it's
the beginning for us, too.
But if we're going to be free
to have the kind of family
you're dreaming of, we have got
to find Vanessa’s fortune.
Vanessa: Oh.
If only I’d been stronger,
I could've kept Vanessa
from just taking over.
Trey: Yeah, but she did,
and here we are.
With Vanessa’s hidden funds
in hand, we can bargain
for your freedom, so
please think.
Vanessa: Well, I have been
thinking, Trey.
That's why I’m delighted you're
here to visit me because after
all this time, I think I’m
finally ready to help you both
get your hearts' desire
and more.
Edmund: I can't do this.
Brooke: I shouldn't have come
here.
[Footsteps]
Maddie: Brooke! You're here!
Brooke: Oh, Maddie!
Hi! Hi! Hi!
Maddie: I missed you.
Brooke: Oh, I missed you,
too.
Are you ok?
Edmund: Brooke said
you called her?
Maddie: I did.
Edmund: Well, did you have
to bring her all the way over
here?
I mean, couldn't I have helped
solve whatever's bothering you?
Maddie: You and Brooke make
everything better.
Brooke: Ok, why don't
you tell us how.
Edmund: What can we do
for you, Sweetheart?
Maddie: Since Angel Mommy
can't live with us, can Brooke?
David: I wish I could take
away the pain that you're
feeling right now, Maureen.
But back then, all I could think
about was how to relieve
your suffering.
But instead, it seems like I’ve
brought pain to both
of our lives.
Maria: Well, at least
you still have your career.
David: I wouldn't be so sure
about that.
And saving you has cost me
my wife and my child.
Maria: Didn't know that
you were a father.
David: Yeah, we just both
found out that my wife is
pregnant, and she's vowing
to keep me away from my child.
Maria: Really?
David: Yeah.
Maureen, I know how much you're
suffering right now, and I want
you to know that you are not
alone.
And you and I, we started
on this path five years ago
and -- and I am still right
there beside you, every
difficult step of the way.
I will not desert you.
Maria: David,
can you answer me one question?
David: Anything.
Maria: Total honesty?
David: Of course.
Maria: Given the price that
you have paid for having come
to my rescue, knowing all that
it has cost you,
tell me,
are you really glad that
you saved my life?
Or now do you wish you had let
me die back on that beach?
Leo: Ok, wait a minute.
Are you saying that you remember
where Vanessa hid that money?
Vanessa: But that's blood
money.
I mean, Vanessa profited
from the agony and the deaths
of these -- these desperate,
unhappy people.
She corrupted innocents!
Leo: I know.
Vanessa: No, that money
should just stay buried.
Trey: So -- so it is buried?
Leo: This is not for us.
We don't want to spend this
money.
This is not about personal gain.
All we want to do is just get it
to the police.
Trey: Yeah, to exonerate you.
What kind of life can we have
together if you're stuck
in a place like this?
Or worse -- or worse --
a psychiatric hospital
for eternity?
Vanessa: But, you see,
I didn't do anything.
I mean, and I hated everything
Vanessa did.
I tried to stop her.
Leo: Well, you can stop
right now.
Vanessa no longer control our lives, ok?
You're strong enough
now.
Trey: Yeah.
Leo: You're in control now.
Trey: You can finally free us
from the woman who tried to ruin
all our lives.
Leo: That's right.
So if you remember anything
at all, please, just -- tell us.
Trey: Is something coming
back to you?
Vanessa: You're right.
You are right.
Maybe some good can finally come
from this money.
I mean, maybe they'll build
a clinic or something.
Trey: So -- so you --
you remember something?
Vanessa: Oh, I think
I really do.
Yes, but first I thought it was
a dream.
Then I said, "no, no,
this is it.
This is where Vanessa hid
the money."
[Creaking]
Leo: What the hell --
Trey: Look out!
[Screaming]
[Greenlee crashes through the ceiling]
Greenlee: Oh. Oh.
Leo: Greenlee?
[Greenlee coughs]
Brooke: Honey, it's so nice
of you to think of me.
But I -- I can't move
in with you.
Maddie: Why not?
Weren't you going to when
you and Daddy got married?
Brooke: You know what?
You are such a lucky girl.
Maddie: Why am I lucky?
Brooke: Why are you lucky?
Well, because you don't have
to deal with all the junk that
adults do.
You know, sometimes the rules
get a little more complicated
when you get older.
Maddie: Is that good or bad?
Brooke: It's -- it's --
it's just not as easy sometimes.
And -- but even though I can't
move in with you, you know what?
I love you as much as I ever
did, and --
and I will always be
your friend.
Edmund: Yes.
You can call Brooke whenever
you feel like, ok?
Brooke: And you know what?
We can get together and we can
have girl talk over milk shakes
and burgers, ok?
Maddie: Promise?
Brooke: I promise, yes, yes.
I'll always be here for you.
Edmund: You feel better,
Sweetheart?
Maddie: Yeah, I think so.
You know, most kids have one
mommy, but I have two.
Even though you and Angel Mommy
don't live here, you both still
love me, right?
Brooke: Oh, yes, we do
with all our hearts.
Maddie: All right, I got
to tell Sam.
Brooke: Ok.
Brooke: Thank you for backing
me up.
Edmund: Thank you for giving
my little girl something to hang
on to.
Listen --
I could use some help,
with things being so
uncertain with Maureen.
Brooke: Listen, why did --
why did Maureen want to meet
with David Hayward alone?
Edmund: Probably
because I wanted to go with her.
I mean, I don't understand
her reasoning.
Brooke: Well, I can't imagine
that she would want to get
within a hundred yards
of Hayward.
Edmund: She doesn't see
the sociopath that we do.
I mean, he told her that
he saved her life and
she believes him.
Brooke: Right, and
he convinced her that she had
murdered somebody so that
she would stay away from town.
You -- what, you didn't know
that?
Edmund: What did you say?
Brooke: He told her that
she had killed somebody.
Edmund: Here? In town?
Brooke: Yes, yes.
Edmund: Where the hell did
you hear this?
Brooke: Maria.
[Jack talks on the phone]
Jack: I know it's tedious,
Skip, but I want you to stay
on top of this, all right?
I'll check back with you later.
Please.
Thank you.
Jack: I have my staff trying to find
some charges that we can hang
on Hayward, so they're going
over precedents and related
cases, but the problem is
the statute of limitations has
run out on most of the lesser
charges.
Without hard, physical evidence
that he kept Maria against
her will, that he did drug
experimentation on her, we don't
have a case.
Anna: Ok, so the only way
we can build a case against
David is on Maria’s testimony.
Jack: Exactly, absolutely,
and positively.
Anna: I think we're going
to get it, though.
No, I do.
Since she's come back to this
town, she doesn't want to be
pushed around.
And given what David did
to her and her family, I really
just don't see how she can let
him get away with it.
Jack: Yeah, well, your mouth
to God's ears.
But let me ask you this --
does it make you wonder what it
is that she has to say to David
that she couldn't say in front
of us?
David: Well, that's a really
good question.
But despite all the difficulties
I’ve encountered, of course I’m
glad I saved you, Maureen.
All life is precious to me.
And I’m sorry that yours feels
difficult and confusing
to you right now, but at least
you have it.
You have a future.
Maureen,
you mean so much more to me
today than you did five years
ago, and I can help you now,
just like I did back then,
but you have to trust me.
Do you think you can do that?
Maria: Hmm.
David --
you --
you are a pathetic,
self-serving SOB.
I would never trust another word
out of your lying mouth ever
again.
[Maria slaps David]
ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN
Jack: There's somebody I want
you to meet.
Anna: Is it someone special?
Jack: Only the love
of my life.
Vanessa: What is she doing
here?
Kendall: I'm here to cop
a quickie with your son.
Maria: Five years of my life
were wasted!
David: I'm sorry.
