ALL MY CHILDREN

AUGUST 16, 2000

Dixie: Hello.
Dimitri: Hi.
Dixie: You're smiling. That's awfully nice.
Dimitri: Well, I just got a God shot. I think he's giving me yet another chance.
Dixie: What does that mean? Dimitri: It means that whatever David's therapy is doing, it seems to be working.
Dixie: But your treatment isn't over, is it?
Dimitri: No, no, no. I got to go back to Seaview for more of the same, but they feel the prognosis is excellent.
Dixie: That's wonderful. That's so wonderful. I'm so happy for you. What are you doing, though? You shouldn't be out of the hospital, should you?
Dimitri: Kind of snuck out.
Dixie: Hmm.
Dimitri: Thought I should show up here tonight.
Dixie: Oh, well, sure.
Dimitri: You know, Dixie, I have often been very quick to call him out, and I truly believe that he enjoys playing with me. But tonight I now know the reason why I have been given chance after chance to stay in this world.
Dixie: Of course. After everything you've been through, you deserve to be happy.
Dimitri: I was able to live long enough to see Alex safe and at peace.
Dixie: You know, it's because of Alex that you're getting better. It's your love for her that's making you well just as much as David's treatment is.
Dimitri: Alex is the brightest, most vivid image in my heart.
Dixie: Well, now that you're getting better, what are you going to do? Are you going to go to her? Are you going to tell her that you're alive?

Edmund: Hey, guys. You look great. Look who this is. You must be Puck. And you must be Mustardseed. And you must be very uncomfortable in that.
Mateo: You owe me big.
Edmund: Yes, I do.
Mateo: Anything for love. Besides, I think I'm scoring big points with my wife, if you understand.
Edmund: All right. I do.
Mateo: Ok.
Edmund: The staff did a great job, didn't they?
Mateo: Yeah.
Edmund: It looks like a magic forest, doesn't it?
Mateo: Are you sure that Alex is into this Shakespeare stuff?
Edmund: Oh, yeah, yeah.
Mateo: Because if she's not, we're --
Edmund: "Midsummer Night's Dream" is her favorite play.
Mateo: Ok.
Edmund: She knows every line.
Mateo: All right.
Edmund: That's why we're all dressed up, guys. And that's why we're going to put on a play. And afterwards, Daddy's going to ask Alex a very important question.
Mateo: And we're all going to cross our fingers and hope she says yes.
Edmund: Cross your fingers. Where's Alex now? Is she ready?
Mateo: Yeah, yeah, she thinks we're playing some game with the kids, and Hayley's waiting for my cue, so -- whenever you're ready.
Edmund: Excellent. Ok. You guys know your lines? Ok?
Mateo: You know your lines?
Edmund: All right.
Sam: Yeah, yeah, yeah --
Edmund: Yeah, yeah, yeah? Ok, cool.
Mateo: Ok, ok.
Edmund: Well, here we go. Wait till you see Daddy later.

[Music plays]

Mateo: Lord, what fools these mortals be.
Hayley: Are these the Enchanted Woods?
Alex: Oh, the iron tongue of midnight hath tolled 12, and there is strange magic in the air.
Edmund: Fair love, my heart unto yours is knit so that one heart we can make of it.

Arlene: I, um --
Marilyn: Hello? Are you there?
Arlene: Yes, Sweetie, I am, but this isn't a good time.
Marilyn: Didn't you hear what I said? Stuart is gone.
Arlene: I really can't talk now. But do you know where he is?
Marilyn: No. He just left a note saying he'd gone fishing. You don't know where he is?
Arlene: No, I don't, Sweetie.
Marilyn: Well, that means he's missing. What are we going to do?
Arlene: We? It was your job to watch him. Don't come running to me if you screwed up.

Vanessa: Oh, what is it? Are you missing someone?

Barry: I only wish I could take my boat out more often. You know, when I'm standing on that deck, looking out at the sea and the sky, I -- I feel so close to nature
. Marian: I understand. Because --
Barry: Go on.
Marian: No.
Barry: What? Oh, Marian, you were going to say something about Stuart, weren't you?
Marian: Oh, Barry, I am such a bore. I mean, I've been talking about Stuart all night. I am really so sorry.
Barry: No, no, no, Marian. Please, I -- I can't tell you how I enjoy hearing you talk about Stuart.
Marian: You do?
Barry: Absolutely. I mean, I envy so much what you two had together. What do I have to look back on but two failed marriages, sacrificed on the altar of Chandler Enterprises?
Marian: Stuart was very in tune with nature and --
Barry: Yes, he was.
Marian: Knew how to cut right to the essentials, you know.
Barry: Yes.
Marian: Did you know that was one of the definitions of "genius" in the dictionary?
Barry: I didn't know that, but I just wish Adam had more of the qualities of Stuart. Then maybe I wouldn't have had to --
Marian: Adam is getting exactly what he deserves. And you shouldn't worry about turning your back on him, Barry.
Barry: Oh. I can't help it. What else do I have?
Marian: You gave him years of your life, you know.
Barry: Yes, and that's why it hurts me that his -- your daughter and her partner are shutting me out of the inner circle now that they're running the company.
Marian: Well, Tad and Liza have a way of working, but I'm sure they're not consciously trying to cut you out.
Barry: For instance, his office tower, the new office tower -- ever since I closed the real estate deal, Liza has not said word one about her plans with me. I -- I bet you know more about it than I do.
Marian: No, no, no, she's not told me anything about it, either.
Barry: Yeah, but I bet if you asked her what her plans were, she'd tell you.
Marian: Well, I suppose so, right.
Barry: You know, Marian, maybe -- maybe you could ask her and then tell me. I mean, it would be less humiliating than my finding out in the newspapers.

Liza: There's no use pumping my mother for information. If you have a question, Barry, you can come into my office, you can ask me, and I'll tell you you're on a need-to-know basis.
Barry: I see. And -- thanks. You just saved me a trip to the penthouse floor.
Liza: We have a staff meeting, 9:00 A.M. I'll see you there.
Barry: Good night, Marian. I enjoyed our evening
Marian: I did, too. Thank you, Barry.
Barry: See you tomorrow morning. 9:00 A.M. Sharp.

Liza: What are you doing? Mother?
Marian: Liza --
Liza: What are you doing with Barry?
Marian: Please, would you stop this? Just stop it. You have no right to scold us.
Liza: Oh.
Marian: No right to scold us like that.
Liza: Yes, I do.
Marian: Well, actually, yes, you do.
Liza: Yes, I do.
Marian: I just don't know what I'm doing here, Liza. I'm so sorry.
Liza: Come on. You know you can't trust Barry.
Marian: I know.
Liza: Of all people.
Marian: I know, I know. But he was being nice to me, and he let me talk about Stuart. And that's all I want to do now is think and talk about Stuart. That's the only thing that makes me happy.
Marian: Oh, Liza.

Stuart: Oh, Walt, the fish are hungry today.
Walt: Yeah? Well, how many did you bring back?
Stuart: None. I threw them all back.
Walt: I never heard of such foolishness. The point of fishing is to bring them home, scale them, gut them, cook them, and eat them.
Stuart: Oh, no, I never could, no. They always look so sad when I pluck them out of the water.
Walt: I got the feeling you're from California.
Stuart: I don't think so. The reason I throw them back is because the water is the fish's home. Nobody should be taken away from their home. Not even the fishes.
Walt: Well, it's a free country. For the time being, anyway.
Stuart: Well, I better get back to work. Looks like all the flies I tied yesterday are gone.
Walt: They're flying off the shelf. Customers can't get enough of them.
Stuart: Well, great. I can make 10, 12 more today if I stick with it.
Walt: I did good letting you work off your room and board.
Stuart: Oh, you're a nice man.
Walt: Yeah, well, normally a stranger walks in here, no ID, No money, no nothing, first thing I'd do is check that my loaded shotgun's behind the counter. But you've got a nice face.
Stuart: Thanks.
Walt: Thing I can't figure out is why someone who throws a fish back would wander into my fishing camp.
Stuart: Oh, well, there's a lot more here than fishes. It's just there's the --
Walt: The fish -
Stuart: No, there's something more than that. Something else. Something I'm supposed to find here. And if I stay long enough, I'll find it.

Marian: I keep telling myself that I've got to stop doing this, and then I think about Stuart and I see his smiling face. I feel better for a few minutes and then I realize what I've lost and then I fall apart all over again.
Liza: You just can't go on like this. You have to find something to fill your days.
Marian: I don't know anything else, Liza, because in my life, there has been Stuart and there has been sitting on a barstool with a man, and that's all I know.
Liza: With Barry?
Marian: Barry is a very loving man.
Liza: No, mother, don't. You've got to be strong. For Stuart's memory.
Marian: I know I do. I do. I swear, I'm going to try to hold out as long as I can, Liza. And I promise you I won't let Barry pump me. For information, that is.
Liza: God.
Marian: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, darling. I'm sorry. Oh, God. Liza?
Liza: What?
Marian: Don't you miss having a man in your life?
Liza: No, I don't.
Marian: Well, I don't believe you.
Liza: Well, I have a child, a TV station, corporation. I'm tired.
Marian: No, I'm not necessarily talking about sex. I'm talking about someone to laugh with, someone to share your day with, to put their arm around you when you're feeling cold, and, yes, someone to make love to you like you're the last person in the world.
Liza: Don't. Don't. Please.
Marian: I know you miss Adam as much as I miss Stuart.
Liza: You know what? My feelings about Adam have nothing to do with the way you're comporting yourself.
Marian: Oh, really?
Liza: Yes, really. So, darling --
Marian: Darling.
Liza: We're going to have a good meal together.
Marian: We are, are we, darling?
Liza: Yes. It's going to be lovely, and we're going to have a good time, and we are not even going to think about Adam or Stuart.
Marian: Ok. I doubt that very much, but ok. Let's go.

Walt: So, you say you're meeting someone here in Riggins?
Stuart: Well, I don't know. All I know is that a voice told me to come here.
Walt: A voice?
Stuart: You say your customers really liked the flies I tied?
Walt: Yeah, well, we're sold out, ain't we?
Stuart: Uh-huh. The -- yesterday I used all yellow. This red is really pretty. Maybe I should stick with the yellow if that's so popular.
Walt: Well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Stuart: But the red looks so good.
Walt: Use your best judgment.
Stuart: Well, maybe some yellow and some red. Walt: I like them. And every one of them is a little bit different, ain't they?
Stuart: Yeah.
Walt: Where'd you learn to make them?
Stuart: Oh, I don' know. I just think of them as little, tiny sculptures. And the fish come along, and they enjoy the sculptures like they're in a museum.
Walt: Well, you are a real artiste. You say you hear voices?
Stuart: Not voices, just one voice. It sounded a lot like me, only not quite.
Walt: You're hearing a voice that sounds like you? Well, what's the voice telling you to do?
Stuart: Other than to come here, nothing. So, I just -- I think maybe the voice is telling me to come here so I can find myself
Walt: Well, if you're not from California, you'll be right at home there.

Vanessa: Arlene, dear, is there anything I can do?
Arlene: No. That's very sweet of you, Vanessa, but, thank you, no.
Vanessa: Well, goodness. You're shaking all the way down to your toes. Who was that you were talking to?
Arlene: It's nothing, really. No one, thanks.
Vanessa: Well, look, if someone is missing, I'm sure that palmer, with his connections, can find some way --
Arlene: Vanessa, give it a rest.
Arlene: Would you excuse me for a minute?

Arlene: Where's Adam?
Barry: He went fishing.
Arlene: Don't you give me that bull. Where is he?
Barry: He really went fishing. He had some other plans, but he changed his mind and decided to go off to Idaho -- Riggins, Idaho, where he and --
Arlene: Oh, my God. Oh, my God, they've both gone fishing. They've both gone fishing!
Barry: Arlene -- Arlene, for God's sake, get a hold of yourself.
Arlene: Call him.
Barry: I can' ? He shut off his cell phone.
Arlene: Well, where is He?
Barry: I told you - fishing.
Arlene: This can't be happening. It just can't be happening.
Barry: Arlene, what can't be happening?

[Telephone rings]

Vanessa: [Imitating Arlene] What you want, Sweetie?
Marilyn: Don't you dare hang up on me again.
Vanessa: Ok, I won't. What's the problem?
Marilyn: I'll tell you what the problem is. Now that he's gone, you think that you don't have to keep up with your side of the bargain.
Vanessa: Bargain?
Marilyn: Oh, don't pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about. You said you would send me money as long as I kept them here in Nevada, which you did. But you also promised to get me a screen test in Hollywood if I kept my mouth shut.
Vanessa: What?
Marilyn: I would have never lied to Stuart for money, never in a million years.
Vanessa: Stuart?
Marilyn: He is the sweetest, kindest man, and I really like him. But you promised me I would meet a Super Agent.
Vanessa: Stuart's in Nevada? Marilyn: Well, not anymore, no. Are you listening to me? Look, I kept him here for as long as I could. Now I want my screen test. Hello? Hello? Are you still there?

Vanessa: [Normal voice] sweetest, dearest man? Oh, my God. Stuart Chandler is alive?

Dimitri: Dixie, I -- I love Alex. I want to go to her and hold her in my arms. I want to look into her face, see the disbelief, and then watch it break out into that wide smile of hers. At least she smiles when I imagine it. But what would it really be like to walk back into her life now? Dixie: Do you know that Alex has been helping David plan your treatment?
Dimitri: That patient is someone in Palo Alto.
Dixie: Yes, but I've heard her say many times that she wishes she could have done the same for you.
Dimitri: And we both know that Alex would be happy to know I'm alive. The question is, is it the right thing for her now?
Dixie: Well, I don't know the answer to that. I used to think I did, but I don't. Only you can make that decision.
Dimitri: Alex is just starting to build her life again. She's gotten used to the fact that I'm dead. Her love for me has changed to loving Edmund.
Dixie: But now that it seems that you're going to live, can you really just walk away and never see her again?
Dimitri: Oh, no, I can't.
Dixie: Then you should go.
Dimitri: It would be like throwing a grenade into the life she's trying to build for herself, a life with Edmund.
Dixie: Well, how about when you've prayed about this? What answers do you get?
Dimitri: Well, I almost feel that we are back together again, the last happy moments on the plane coming to Pine Valley, and our lives are taken up from there and we go on together. Dixie, when -- when you think God is talking to you, can you really believe in it?
Dixie: Well, sure. Why not? I can.
Dimitri: All right. Oh, I'm getting a little ahead of myself. But if I am going to make the attempt to see her, I have to sit down with Hayward and Silbert and make sure that I am finally recovering.
Dixie: No, no, no, no, you don't have to do that. Look, if you want to go see Alex, you should go, ok? Don't wait. Just do it now.

Mateo: Ok, sprinkle, sprinkle. And when she wakes, she will fall in love with the first man she sees.
Hayley: Forsooth! What goodly man is this who filleth my heart with such abounding love?
Mateo: 'Tis I, Demetrius.
Hayley: Oh. I would kiss thine lips, the fairest lips in all of Chrisendom.
Mateo: Forsooth, I doth hope no British lady is listening to us dost murdering the English language.
Edmund: Oh. Off with your heads.
Alex: No, the Queen is well pleased.
Hayley: Oh, thank you.
Mateo: Now, who else gets to be sprinkled with magic petals?
Alex: Me. I -- I'm suddenly feeling very sleepy. Hmm.
Hayley: I wonder who she'll fall in love with.

[Edmund moos]

Alex: What angel wakes me from my flowery bed? Oh, I pray thee, gentle mortal, sing again. My ear is much enamored of thy note. So is mine eye enthralled to thy shape.

[Edmund grunts]

Alex: And thy fair virtue's force, perforce, doth move me on the first view to say -- to swear -- I love thee.
Mateo: That's how you say that stuff.
Hayley: I said it just like that.

[Edmund roars]

Hayley: Oh, oh. Right, right. It's time for the magic cookies in the kitchen. Oops. Come on. Come on, kids.
Alex: Bye.
Hayley: Bye.

Edmund: Fairest Titania, the only thing that can turn me back into a man again is if you will answer one question.
Alex: What is that question, handsome beast?
Alex: What, is the play over?
Edmund: The play's over. But not the magic.
Alex: Oh.
Edmund: Alex, the magic will never be over if you marry me.

Arlene: All right, all right, you don't know where he is? Fine. But when he calls, tell him to come home.

Barry: That woman should be in detox.

Vanessa: Well, got everything sorted out?
Arlene: I need a map. I mean, how close is Idaho to Nevada? I don't even know.
Vanessa: Well, I don't -- I suppose it's farther away than Nevada and Pine Valley or Nevada and Hong Kong or Nevada --
Arlene: Thanks. Thanks, Vanessa.
Vanessa: Well, you know, Arlene, dear, why don't you just ask your brother-in-law when he gets back from there.
Arlene: What did you just say?
Vanessa: Stuart. That's where he's been, in Nevada, right?
Arlene: How do you know that?
Vanessa: Good news travels fast? Won't it be wonderful news for the Chandlers to learn that their beloved Stuart did not die in that fire? Of course, it might mean a little explaining on your part to, you know, let them know why you've kept him hidden from them all this time.
Arlene: I didn't keep him hidden, I --
Vanessa: It's true. Stuart Chandler is alive? And you've kept this news from his loved ones?
Arlene: Oh, Vanessa, there's a very simple explanation for all this. You see, a call came --
Vanessa: Oh, save it. Save it, please. Oh. Save it until you can tell all three of us -- Liza, Marian, and myself, after I let them know the wonderful news.
Arlene: Wait. You can't tell them.
Vanessa: Arlene, dear, what on earth would keep me from telling this wonderful news?

Vanessa: Liza, Marian, it has been far too long.
Liza: Really? I hadn't noticed.
Vanessa: Oh, listen, you two, I have the most wonderful news, and I wanted to be the one to tell you.
Arlene: You know, Marian, it's really --
Vanessa: It happened in Nevada.
Marian: What happened in Nevada?
Vanessa: Well, I just got the most wonderful news. You see, this film that I did, oh, a hundred years ago or so. It was with Rory Calhoun, Slim Pickens -- I have just been told that it's going to be re-released on DVD, And I am so thrilled.
Liza: Oh. Well, we'll have to put that on our shopping list.
Arlene: Liza, how are you?
Vanessa: Oh, you do that. You do that, and then let's sit down and have a nice long talk. I would love to have an in-depth chat with both of you anytime.
Liza: Great. Um -- can I give you a piece of advice?
Vanessa: Hmm?
Liza: I think even you could do better for a dinner companion.

Arlene: Why did you do that?
Vanessa: Oh, I suppose I was just demonstrating how easy it would be to expose your nasty little secret.
Arlene: And are you going to do that?
Vanessa: Well, now, Arlene, dear, that is entirely up to you.
Arlene: Vanessa, you are Palmer Cortlandt's wife. What in the world could I get for you?
Vanessa: Holy God, woman. Are you so self-involved that you're not aware of my humiliation? Palmer has cut me off. I can't even afford to open the mini bar in my hotel suite.
Arlene: That's great. I mean, fine. If you need money, I can give you money.
Vanessa: Well, how can I be certain you're swimming in ready cash?
Arlene: Oh, please. Stuart needs to stay dead just a little longer. My future depends on it.
Vanessa: But haven't you just lost Stuart?
Arlene: Yeah, I lost him.
Vanessa: Hmm. Well, rather careless of you, isn't it, dear? We certainly can't have him showing up somewhere unexpectedly, now, can we? It would spoil everything. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. I think I can help you out there, Dear.
Arlene: Oh, thank you, Vanessa. It's such a relief to be able to -- how much is this going to cost me?

Stuart: I'll leave this one for you in case you want to try it out on a fish. Only --
Walt: Only I got to promise to throw the fish back, right?
Stuart: Yeah.
Walt: Well, come to think of it, it'd be a shame to keep him. It'd be like kidnapping someone in a museum.
Stuart: Yeah. It's getting dark. I'm going to go out and try to get you a batch of night crawlers. I'll be back.
Walt: No, no, no. Don't bother with that. You've done more than your share today.
Stuart: Oh, no, it's -- it's a beautiful night. I like to be out in nature. I'll be back.

Edmund: You said in the play that my fair virtue moved you to love me. Methinks, Mistress, you should have little reason for that. And yet, to say the truth, reason and love keep very little company these days. And I should know because I am out of my mind in love with you. Alex, you've done more than just make me a man again. You gave me back my heart. And all I want to do with it is share it with you. Alex, will you marry me?
Alex: Yes, Edmund, I'll marry you.
Alex: You built this whole Enchanted Forest just for me.
Edmund: I'll build a whole enchanted world for you. For you and Sam and Maddie. We'll always be a family, and I always want you to feel like you belong with us.
Alex: I do. I already do. I love your children. I can't wait to watch them grow into happy young adults.
Edmund: You know what? Little by little, all the terrible things that have happened to us that actually brought us together -- they're going to fade from our memory. And the only thing that's going to remain is the love that we have for each other.
Alex: That love will never die.

Dimitri: Dixie, if I go back to Alex, I want it to be for good.
Dixie: Look, I don't mean to tell you what to do. I'm -- I'm not telling you what to do. You came up with the idea on your own. You love Alex, you want to go to her, so go.
Dimitri: What? You mean right now?
Dixie: Yes, right now. You know your chances of getting better are much greater once you and Alex are back together again.
Dimitri: I have to admit that thought has crossed my mind.
Dixie: So? You've asked. Your prayers have been answered. What more do you want?
Dimitri: All right. All right, I'll trust what's happened here tonight and not think I'm playing a trick on myself again. Dixie, I am going to my wife right now.

Edmund: Ok, I got some really great family news, ok? Now, do you know how much we love Alex because she's so nice and she's so pretty?
Alex: Oh.
Edmund: Well, now we get to love her even more. You know why? Because Daddy is going to marry her. Yes.
Alex: And that means --
Edmund: That means Alex is going to be my wife. And that means she's going to be part of our family and live with us.
Alex: And I'm going to love you forever and ever. I know you had a mommy and she was lovely and she's in heaven. And I'm t trying to replace her. But I want to do all the wonderful things that a mommy does, what she's supposed to do. And if you let me do that, you'll make me the happiest person in the whole wide world.
Edmund: What do say, guys? Yay!
All: Yay!
Alex: Yeah?
Edmund: High-five.
Alex: Yeah?
Edmund: Excellent! High-five.
Alex: Oh.
Edmund: Give me two.
Alex: I think that went well. What are you doing?

Arlene: I don't have this kind of money.
Vanessa: Oh. Too bad. I was really thinking we could help each other. Well, the very least I can do is waltz over there and make Marian Chandler be a very happy woman.
Arlene: Wait! Wait. You're right. We can help each other.
Vanessa: I've told you my price.
Arlene: Yeah, and I'll pay it. See, Adam's gone to this fishing place that Stuart and he used to go to.
Vanessa: What, do you think Stuart's gone there, too?
Arlene: I don't know. It's possible. But we have to get him back here before he runs into Stuart. And then I can get your money from him, every penny of it.
Vanessa: Well, we will have to use your credit card since mine have all been drawn and quartered.
Arlene: It's a deal.
Vanessa: Deal. So, we're off to Iowa.
Arlene: Idaho.
Vanessa: I thought you said Iowa.
Arlene: No, Idaho.
Vanessa: Ok, Idaho.

Adam: Hello? What the hell am I doing? I don't belong here without -- hello? Anybody home?
Walt: Yeah, sure there is. Here I am. You back so soon?
Adam: What? Walt: You forgot your bucket. Can't go digging up worms without a bucket.
Adam: I have no intention of digging up worms.
Walt: Well, suit yourself. Nobody asked you to. Oh, hey. I just opened a can of beans out back. You want some?
Adam: No, thank you. Could you tell me perhaps where --
Walt: Hey, where did you get this nifty vest? Now, don't tell me you made this yourself.
Adam: I will thank you to keep your hands to yourself, please.
Walt: Hey, hey, hey. Just being friendly.
Adam: Well, I'm not a friend of yours. I don't know you, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Walt: Is that right?

Hayley: That was really good.
Mateo: I am so hungry. I want a big, fat filet mi-- oh.
Hayley: Damn! I thought I was through acting for the night.
Mateo: What is she doing here?
Hayley: When is he going to leave her so we can stop pretending?
Mateo: Maybe she didn't see --

Hayley: Hi.
Mateo: Hi.
Arlene: Hi, Sweetie. Hi, Mateo.
Hayley: Hey.
Mateo: How are you?
Hayley: Did you have a nice dinner?
Arlene: Oh, yeah. Look, I was wondering if I could ask you two a favor.
Mateo: Sure.
Hayley: Yeah, anything.
Mateo: Anything for you, Mom.
Arlene: Oh, how sweet of you. I was wondering if you could close up the bar for me tonight. See, Vanessa and I are -- we're going on a shopping trip together.
Hayley: Oh. Well, yeah, that's no problem.
Mateo: You and Mrs. Cortlandt, huh?
Vanessa: Vanessa, please.
Arlene: Well, you know how it is. One of those spur-of-the-moment things. So we'll -- we'll see you.
Hayley: Yeah.
Vanessa: Bring you back something special.
Mateo: All right.

Hayley: That was weird.
Mateo: What, Arlene and Mrs. Cortlandt? They're two of a kind if you ask me.
Hayley: No, that's not what I'm talking about. Did you see the look in my mother's eyes? I know that look. She's terrified. She's about to do something desperate.

Walt: Now, why shouldn't I know you? Come up here from the city to soak up nature. All nice and friendly till you get bored with the whole thing. Just took you longer than most.
Adam: Look, I don't know what you're talking about.
Walt: Forget about it. I don't need an apology.
Adam: I wasn't giving you an apology.
Walt: Good. Do me a favor -- don't slam the door on your way out.

Adam: Just what I deserve. What the hell have I come here for?
Adam: Stuart.

Edmund: Ok, guys. Now that Alex is officially part of our family, there's only one thing we have to do, and that's find out where she's ticklish! That's it!
Alex: No, no, no, no! I'm not ticklish at all. Wait, I bet Sam is ticklish.
Edmund: Oh, Sammy? I'll tell you where Sammy is. Sam's got it there, and you got it there. How do you like it so far?
Alex: I'm not used to all this happiness.
Edmund: Well get used to it. I'm going to give you a lifetime's worth.
Alex: You know what? If you hadn't asked me to marry you, I think I'd have asked you myself.
Edmund: Yeah?
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Edmund: What do you think about that, huh? What do you think about that? Come here.
