ALL MY CHILDREN

AUGUST 18, 2000

Leo: If I did turn down the chance to make love to Becca, it had nothing to do with not being attracted to her. Becca's incredible, and I respect her values. And if I'm ever lucky enough to get closer to her, we'll both know when the time is right to take that next step. I wouldn't expect you to understand. You don't know how to make love. All you want is a sensation to numb reality. You'd hit the sheets with anything with pants, Greenlee.

Greenlee: I could dim the lights. Might help with the temperature control in here.
Becca: God, Greenlee, what are you doing here?
Greenlee: I mean, really, hot as Hades. I can feel it all the way out here. What, daydreaming about naughty things? Close the door if I were you. Girl might get excited, need her privacy.
Becca: Look, I know that you eavesdropped on me.
Greenlee: Wasn't much to pick up on except for the heavy breathing.
Becca: No, no, I'm talking about me telling Tina about Leo and me at the lake. Don't even try and deny it.
Greenlee: Whose brainstorm is this, yours or Leo's?
Becca: That doesn't matter. Look, I know that you would look for anything to humiliate me.
Greenlee: I've found I don't have to look very far.
Becca: No, look, Greenlee. Leo would never tell you about him and me at the lake. Not after everything that we've been through.
Greenlee: Ahem -- oh, man.
Becca: What? What?
Greenlee: You trust him that much?
Becca: I trust him more than I could possibly say. But you can't understand that because you're so jealous your gills are green.
Greenlee: Jealous? Of what?
Becca: Of me.
Greenlee: You can't possibly believe that.
Becca: I have something that you wish you had.
Greenlee: Oh, Sweet Mama, you do not mean your virginity.
Becca: No, I mean Leo. You want him, don't you?

Bianca: Leo, it's cool. Just forget about it already.
Leo: Forget it? You did me the biggest favor by calling me from BJ's. I don't know if Becca and I would've patched things up if I hadn't gone down there to talk to her. So, like in ancient cultures, you saved my life, I must save yours.
Bianca: So now this is a matter of life and death?
Leo: The life and death of romance. I am hereby nominating myself your sole protector/cupid whenever you need me.
Bianca: Don't hold your breath.
Leo: Don't do that. You're a total babe.
Bianca: You are so full of it.
Leo: What, you don't think so?
Bianca: I'm not in touch with my confident side like my mother is. Speaking of which, if you really want to pay me back for getting you and Becca hooked up again, please stop the madness.
Leo: Aha. The party that your mother wants to throw you.
Bianca: No, no, it's not for me. I'm just the tool.
Leo: Ok. At the risk of sounding like an old guy, your mother adores you she wants you to be the center of attention because you're the center of her universe, that's all.
Bianca: That's not true. I'm the one she uses while she's waiting for the next guy to come in and tell her how perfect she is. It's the only kind of attention that she's ever given me, and it's not the kind I want.
Leo: That's a little harsh, don't you think, Bianca?
Bianca: Whose side are you on?
Leo: Bianca, listen to me. Sometimes giving in is way easier than fighting. You just slop on a fancy dress, shake a few hands, and scarf a few shrimp and come home. She'll consider the evening a huge success. She's happy. And you've basically spent a couple nice hours together, that's all.
Bianca: No. It's not that simple. I don't think I can do it.
Leo: I think you can --

Erica: Well, good morning, my beautiful daughter. And you, too, Leo.
Leo: Erica. Well, that's my cue. I have to go down to WRCW to talk to Becca. Good luck.
Bianca: Traitor.

Bianca: Mom, why are you looking at me like that?
Erica: Because I think you and Leo have a secret.
Bianca: No.
Erica: Ok. Well, then, tell me, why did he wish you luck?

Brooke: Eliot, are you ok?
Eliot: You look beautiful, Brooke.
Brooke: Is that why you wanted to see me here?
Eliot: Do you remember when we were at the lake? We were skipping stones?
Brooke: Vividly.
Eliot: Remember I told you that story about my friend and diving in the lake and knocking himself unconscious?
Brooke: You jumped in and saved his life.
Eliot: At that moment when I jumped in, I felt that I had a reason for living, a purpose that was never there before. Now, I want you to understand that that's why I came back here, back home to pine valley. I wanted to help people. I wanted to help -- myself.
Brooke: Ok, you're scaring me. I just want you to tell me what's going on. Please, Eliot, whatever it is.
Eliot: I've been transferred to another parish.
I'm leaving Pine Valley. We have to say good-bye.

Bianca: Mother, it did not mean anything when Leo said good luck to me. It was just sort of a private joke, ok?
Erica: You and Leo have been spending a lot of time together lately.
Bianca: He lives here.
Erica: Well, that's not the only reason.
Bianca: What other reason is there?
Erica: Well, Leo is -- he's very intriguing. He's very handsome. And sophisticated.
Bianca: Seriously?
Erica: You don't think so?
Bianca: Basically I think Leo is just like a big goofball.
Erica: Well, when I was your age, I used to live down the street from a boy who -- well, I guess he was actually a young man because he was in college.
Bianca: Ooh.
Erica: Well, it was pretty captivating to me at that time. I mean, I had such a crush on him, I can't even begin to tell you --
Bianca: Whoa, whoa -- crush? You think I have a crush on Leo?
Erica: Well, it would be perfectly natural, you know? I just want you to know that.
Bianca: Ok, but I don't have one.
Erica: Bianca, sweetheart --
Bianca: Mother, can we please just talk about something else?
Erica: Well, it's just not unusual to have these feelings, that's all.
Bianca: Mom, Leo and I are like roommates. He's like my older brother.
Erica: All right, look, I'm just saying that --
Bianca: Well, just stop saying it. It's not true.
Erica: Bianca, why are you so angry all the time at me?
Bianca: I'm sorry.
Erica: Your father told me that you had been spending a lot of time alone lately.
Bianca: I like being alone.
Erica: Why?
Bianca: I don't know. I just do.
Erica: Talk to me, please.
Bianca: I am.
Erica: Bianca, if you don't tell me things, then I can't help you.
Bianca: Help me? How? Do you think I need help, Mom? I get help, remember?
Erica: Do you hear how angry you sound?
Bianca: What I hear is that this is who I am and it's driving you nuts because I'm not like you.
Erica: What?
Bianca: I'm never going to be like you, Mother. And the sooner you realize that, the easier this whole trip is going to be.

Greenlee: Boy, you have way too much spare time.
Becca: Oh, come on, come on, come on, is it so hard to admit?
Greenlee: You think I want Leo? Please.
Becca: Well, then, why'd you do what you did on TV?
Greenlee: Sport.
Becca: No. You wanted Leo and I to fight, and we did. But you know what? In the big picture of things, you thought Leo was going to break up with me and then you'd move in.
Greenlee: You know, you're way so off base, you're in the hot dog stand. Here is what went down. I was asked to evaluate your relationship. You and Leo were about as exciting as Donny and Marie, so I asked questions that wouldn't put people to sleep.
Becca: No, you asked questions about our sex life. You were throwing what happened at the lake in my face!
Greenlee: I was there to decide if you two were compatible. Given what I knew --
Becca: Why do you hate me so much?
Greenlee: Hate you? Becca, I don't hate you. That would take way too much energy.
Becca: Oh, I see. When you wanted to go after Scott, I was in your way.
Greenlee: Are your memories so warped, Wynonna? The only thing that could ever get in my way is that hair.
Becca: Oh, no, no, no. I believe that you were turning cartwheels to get his attention and yet I was still in your way.
Greenlee: I would assume that there's a point within 25 city blocks of this conversation.
Becca: Well, I don't know if there is a point, but there definitely is a pattern.
Greenlee: What kind of a pattern?
Becca: You come after me when you're threatened. You did it with Scott. Now you're doing it with Leo. And speaking of Leo, you really didn't answer my question, so I guess we both know what the answer is.
Greenlee: What question?
Becca: How long have you wanted Leo -- since the beginning or since I got together with him?
Greenlee: This conversation is so 1956.
Becca: Look, look -- do you have feelings for Leo?
Greenlee: How could I? He's a baby. He has no job, no ambition, and a really nasty mommy complex. Why would I want that? I'm an adult. I need a man. And when I want one, I get one.
Becca: I believe that you're the one that told me that he was a man and needed sex, and now you're saying he's adolescent? Come on, which is it?
Greenlee: It's both, and I don't want either of them. Would you like me to tell you why?

Leo: Hey. What are you two doing here? What'd I miss?
Greenlee: I was apologizing.
Becca: What?
Greenlee: I'm really sorry for asking such personal questions on "Wave." It was uncalled for, unprofessional.
Leo: No, no, forget it. Becca and I have. It's one of the reasons I'm so nuts about Becca. She knows what she wants. I like that. No nonsense, no games. Know what I mean, Greens?
Greenlee: Uh-huh.
Becca: I am so glad that you're here. I just --
Leo: I just came by to see if I could buy you lunch.
Greenlee: On his allowance, I bet he could spring for a Falafel from the guy on the corner of Broad and Main.
Leo: What do you say I go get something and bring it back here?
Becca: Sounds perfect.
Leo: No, you are.
Becca: No, you are.
Greenlee: Aren't you going to ask me what I want?
Leo: I don't care what you want, Greens. Not anymore.

Becca: Liar.
Greenlee: What?
Becca: You care what Leo thinks about you big-time. And it's not just because you guys are friends, is it?

Erica: Bianca, I don't expect you to be like me. I've always tried to encourage your individuality.
Bianca: Well, you know that's not true.
Erica: Why are you talking to me like this? Why are you saying this to me?
Bianca: You encourage my individuality? Yeah, as long as I do what you want me to do and wear what you want me to wear and talk the way you want me to talk.
Erica: Oh, this is about the party, isn't it? You're still upset about that.
Bianca: Yes, thank you. I just want you to accept the fact that I know what I want. Am I such a criminal if I don't want what you want?
Erica: Of course not, Honey.
Bianca: Then why do you insist on going along with this party when you know it's not what I want?
Erica: Because it might be fun. Because you might actually enjoy yourself.
Bianca: Because you just broke up with your boyfriend and you have nothing better to do.
Erica: Oh. Yeah, my mother told me that there would be days I'd have a daughter and she would talk to me just the way I talked to her when I was angry at her, and, boy, I guess I understand how she feels now.
Bianca: I'm sorry. It was a totally mean thing to say, and I shouldn't have said it.
Erica: No. Look, frankly, I'm really glad you say what you think because I like us to be open. It's the secrets that come back to haunt you. Believe me, I know. And, besides, you're partially right -- I mean about the party. I do enjoy going out and being social.
Bianca: You like the attention, Mom. It makes my skin crawl.
Erica: But the attention is good, Honey. You're a beautiful girl.
Bianca: Mom, could you, like, stop saying that to me?
Erica: Why?
Bianca: You've been telling me that I was beautiful since I was a little girl.
Erica: Because you are. And now you should rejoice in that, not hide it.
Bianca: But, Mom, don't you get it? I mean, that stuff doesn't matter to me the way it does to you. It's just not me.
Erica: All right, Bianca. All right. That's fair.
Bianca: Thank you.
Erica: But tell me something. Who are you, exactly?

Brooke: You're being transferred out of town?
Eliot: Yes.
Brooke: Eliot, you just got here.
Eliot: Brooke, I don't know. This happens all the time. The need arises somewhere --
Brooke: I don't buy that.
Eliot: What do you -- what don't you buy?
Brooke: I don't buy the fact that you're being transferred because of a need somewhere else. You're needed here, right here.
Eliot: Rev. Taylor decided that my ministry would be better serving another congregation. I cannot fight that.
Brooke: You sound like you're reading a prepared statement. Did -- did somebody see us? That's it, isn't it? Somebody complained to your supervisor because they saw us kissing in public.
Eliot: That's not what's important, Brooke. What's --
Brooke: For crying out loud. You're not a priest. We didn't do anything wrong.
Eliot: Brooke, I was counseling you when we first met. Our relationship began in an official capacity.
Brooke: Relationships change.
Eliot: Rev. Taylor feels that it's inappropriate.
Brooke: Then I will set him straight.
Eliot: That's not your place, Brooke.
Brooke: The hell it isn't. I'm not going to have him treating you like you're some delinquent teenager.
Eliot: Brooke, it's too late. It's done. Look, I shouldn't even tell you this, Brooke. Leaving you now is the hardest thing that I've ever had to do.
Brooke: Then don't go.
Brooke: Eliot, I need to ask you something.
Eliot: What?
Brooke: Did you fight Rev. Taylor's decision? I mean, did you even consider turning him down?
Brooke: Ok. You know, there isn't any reason that you should give your work up because of us. We could just start over. We can be friends. You know, we don't have to see each other. We can -- we don't have to take this any further than we already have.
Eliot: I couldn't be near you now and not want to hold you in my arms. I couldn't do it.
Brooke: Neither can I. Eliot --

Boy: Reverend --
Eliot: Ricky -- hey, what -- what the hell happened? Who did this to you?

[Ricky cries]

Erica: Oh, listen to me. Can you believe I just asked you to tell me exactly who you are? My goodness, if anybody had asked me that question when I was 16, I --
Bianca: Mom -- I am Erica Kane's daughter.
Erica: You are Bianca Montgomery. And I am proud to say that you are your very own person, through and through.
Bianca: Mom, I'm not my own person in this town.
Erica: Of course you are, honey. You're new.
Bianca: No. Everyone here knows that I'm your kid, and so they expect me to act a certain way because I am. And trust me, I've got big shoes to fill.
Erica: I just want you to fill your own shoes. I just want you to live your own life for your own self and be happy. That's all. That's all I truly wish for you, Sweetheart.
Bianca: Ok. So why don't you call off this party? It's just not me.
Erica: I think it could be you if you would just relax into it. Bianca, will you just hear me out? Please, just this once.
Bianca: Ok. I'm listening.
Erica: Ok. Nothing in the world feels better than owning your own power. Nothing. And one of the times that I el most in touch with that is when I walk into a room full of people and I feel proud of myself. I feel confident. Gives you strength. And I'll tell you something else. I am terrified every time I have to work a room. Every single solitary time.
Bianca: No way.
Erica: Oh, yes. I am just as shy and insecure as you. But I face my fear. And every time I do that, I win. Do you know what I'm saying?
Bianca: Yeah, I guess so. Erica: Do you know what
courage is?
Bianca: Yes.
Erica: If I were to bungee jump off a bridge but it didn't scare me, would that be courageous?
Bianca: Sure. Yeah, I guess so.
Erica: Well, no, not for me. It wouldn't be. Because I'm not afraid of that, so there's no courage there, not for me. I'm afraid of walking into a room full of strangers and acting like I own the place. So when I do that, I'm being brave. I'm taking action in the face of my fear. That's courage.
Bianca: And every time you do that, you win.
Erica: Exactly. I want to give that to you, Sweetheart. I want to give that to you because I love you more than anything else in the whole world. And I want you to know how that feels. I want you to be proud of yourself. I want you to believe in who you are. And I'll tell you something else. You know, if you can't get by this party idea, if you really can't get by it, I'll call the whole thing off. Of course I will. But if you let me do this for you, I swear I will be with you every step of the way and I'll make it a night you'll never forget. It's up to you, Bianca.

Greenlee: What's with this insane need to challenge me, Becca? Would you like me to tell you that I'm after your new boyfriend? Is this the only thing that gets you turned on?
Becca: I have a question for you.
Greenlee: Do I look like I care?
Becca: Look -- when you decided to humiliate me on national television, did you really think that Leo was going to break up with me and come running to you?
Greenlee: This is so pathetic.
Becca: No, you're pathetic, Greenlee. And Leo thinks so, too.
Greenlee: Look, you smug little twit. You want me to tell you what Leo thinks of me? I'll tell you what he thinks of me --
Becca: No, no, no.
Greenlee: When he looks at me, he sees a woman --
Becca: I think I'm going to tell you what he sees when he looks at you because he told me himself. After we made up, he said that you're desperate. He said that you're bossy, you're mean, twisted, and you're empty inside. You're a lost cause, Greenlee, and he hates you for what you did. And he will never, ever forgive you.
Greenlee: If you think that's going to make me melt into a little puddle, you're way wrong.
Becca: Oh, God. I feel so sorry for you. I just -- I can't imagine what it's like to be you every day of your life, how lonely it must be.
Greenlee: Go to hell, Becca.

Man: Leo. Thought that was you.
Leo: Oh, Wade Randall. How you doing? What are you doing here?
Wade: I heard you were living in Pine Valley.
Leo: Yeah, you looking for me?
Wade: Hardly. No, I'm working out of Center City these days.
Leo: Great.
Wade: So, I hear your mother married Palmer Cortlandt.
Leo: Yeah. Big news. Old news.
Wade: Hey, what's the story with you and Erica Kane? Are you working for her?
Leo: What don't you know, Wade?
Wade: Are you working?
Leo: Look, that beautiful young woman you just walked in with -- she looks pretty hungry. Why don't you --
Wade: Ah, she's a rock. Come on, tell me, is Erica Kane covering your cash flow?
Leo: No.
Wade: Leo, you got the most expensive taste of anybody I know. How're you getting by?
Leo: Well, Wade, I've embraced minimalism. Look, as soon as my burgers are up, I got to get going, so --
Wade: Hey, I'm looking for some help. You know how well I pay.
Leo: I've recently come to the understanding that I wouldn't do well in prison, but thanks.
Wade: I offer you work, and you insult me.
Leo: Look, I just can't take anything on illegal right now, alright? I'm already walking a thin line in this town.
Wade: Yeah, well, it never stopped you before. You were the first one in the door and the last one to leave every one of my parties.

Greenlee: Hey, if you're discussing parties, I'm your girl.
Leo: Greenlee.
Greenlee: Smythe. Nice to meet you.
Wade: Wade Randall. Your first name is Greenlee?
Greenlee: Yes. It's mother's maiden name, actually. Sound familiar?
Wade: As a matter of fact, it does. You're a Greenlee?
Leo: Beautiful.
Greenlee: I am. And you know what that means?
Wade: As a matter of fact, I do.
Wade: Hey, Leo, why don't you give that away to the poor --

[Greenlee chuckles]

Wade: And then you and your friend Greenlee here can join Olivia and me for lunch.
Greenlee: That would be great.
Leo: Impossible. Greenlee's coming with me.
Greenlee: I am?
Leo: It was nice catching up with you, Wade.
Wade: You, too, Leo. And it was especially nice meeting you, Greenlee.

Greenlee: Why did you do that? Who is he? Why did you tell him I was coming with you? He totally wanted me.
Leo: No, he totally wants your trust fund, Greenlee. Suffice it to say that Wade Randall dresses the way he does because women just like you sign over the family jewels to him.
Greenlee: What are you talking about?
Leo: The securities trading is just a cover. He runs high-stakes gambling parties, and I've known a lot of people who've lost everything to him.
Greenlee: He looks pretty harmless to me.
Leo: Yeah, well, he's not. He's the polar opposite of harmless. He's mob-connected. Just let it go, all right?
Greenlee: Fine.
Leo: Fine. Why are you following me here, anyway?
Greenlee: Becca said that you hate me. Is that true?

Eliot: Ricky? Ricky -- hey, hey. It's ok. Look -- just tell me what happened.
Brooke: Were you attacked? Did you see who it was?
Ricky: It was my father, ok? He got in trouble at the bar today, and he came home and took it out on me -- again. This is the last time, Rev. Freeman. If he comes near me again, I'll kill him. I swear I will.
Eliot: I can guarantee you that he's not going to do this again to you, Ricky. We're ending this today.
Ricky: You can't.
Brooke: Why don't you let Rev. Freeman take you to the hospital?
Ricky: No.
Brooke: You need a couple of stitches, all right? Let us take you there, and then we'll talk some more.
Ricky: I can't. They'll call the police. I can't go to the hospital.
Eliot: I'm calling them anyway, Ricky.
Ricky: Don't you get it? My old man's a cop. There's nothing you can do. There's nothing anyone can do.
Brooke: Yes, there is. I'm going to take you to the shelter.
Ricky: No.
Brooke: All right? Yes, yes. Listen to me. I'm going to take you to the shelter. We'll call child welfare, we'll get your cuts cleaned up, and then we'll talk about this and see how you're going to get through it, ok?
Ricky: Rev. Freeman?
Eliot: Let us help you, Ricky.
Ricky: I don't know where else to go.
Eliot: Hey, I'm glad you came to us.
Brooke: Come on. I'll get you settled. Ok? It's all right, it's all right. I'll be right back.

Erica: Bianca, maybe giving you this party is a way to kind of make up for all the time I don't get to spend with you.
Bianca: Mom, you don't have to do that.
Erica: I know. I don't get to show you off nearly enough.
Bianca: I don't want to be shown off.
Erica: Maybe it's a way that I can be your mother more. I mean, when you moved in with Travis, I really was so afraid that you and I would never have the kind of relationship that I had with my mother.
Bianca: But, Mom, you and Grandma fought all the time.
Erica: That's true, we did. But we loved each other, Bianca. Your grandmother and I had a bond that could just never be broken no matter how much we fought. And that's what I want for you and me, Honey. That if you need anything -- if you need anything at all, you don't ever have to go anywhere except here, to me.
Bianca: I don't know, Mom. I mean, do you think that -- that if I say yes to this party, suddenly we'll have that?
Erica: Well, I think that it would be a good beginning. Is that a yes?
Bianca: If it's going to make you so happy, then, yeah, I guess.
Erica: Oh! Oh, Honey, it's going to make us both happy, I promise you.
Erica: Well, we have a thousand things to do. A thousand!
Bianca: Wait, wait, Mom. Wait. Stop. I -- I -- since I said yes to having this party, I need to ask you a favor.
Erica: Oh, do you want to have a DJ instead of live music?
Bianca: It's not about that. I really want it to be casual, super easy, no fuss. Just Uncle Jack and Myrtle and Opal, Leo -- that's it.
Erica: And I'm going to call Henri about dresses.
Bianca: Mom, you have about 10,000 dresses.
Erica: Yeah, but you don't. Bianca: I don't want a new dress. I will put something together myself.
Erica: Oh, no, Honey, you don't have to worry about anything. I am going to take care of all the details, from soup to nuts to organza.

Bianca: Hey, Daddy. I'm good. Everything's cool. She's fine. She's throwing me a party. Yeah. It could be fun, I guess. I miss you, too. A lot. Listen, Daddy, I know that I've been kind of a pain these past few months, and I didn't mean to be. Ok, well, we'll talk about it more when I come home, I guess.
Bianca: I love you, too.

Leo: I don't hate you, Greenlee. You see, that would take way too much energy.

Greenlee: Mr. Midori. What are you doing here?
Mr. Midori: Looking for you, Greenlee.
Greenlee: Me? Why?
Mr. Midori: We have a serious problem.
Greenlee: No, Ryan cut me back in. Everything's ok.
Mr. Midori: Ryan dipped into the incredibledreams corporate account and took several million dollars for his personal use.
Greenlee: That's not possible. Really --
Mr. Midori: Yes, it is. And it's true.
Greenlee: No, it can't be true.
Mr. Midori: I won't stand for this. I am guardian of your grandfather's investment, Greenlee, and this was not part of the deal. I am going to send Ryan Lavery to prison for most of his life.

Eliot: I was trying to get hold of Ricky's father. Nobody seems to know where he is. Where's Ricky?
Brooke: He's at the shelter. Grace is looking after him.
Brooke: You can't leave here, Eliot. People like Ricky, they seek you out, and they would be lost without you. I can't let you give this up because of something that we're becoming.
Eliot: I don't have a choice.
Brooke: Yes, you do. You're just not making it. There's something else. You're not -- you are not telling me the real reason that you have been asked to leave.
Eliot: Brooke, why don't you just listen to what I'm telling you. The way that you're handling this is making it so much more difficult than it has to be.
Brooke: Because I know you and I know that you're lying to me, damn it. Just tell me! Just -- whatever it is, for God's sake, just tell me the truth.

ON THE NEXT - - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Hayley: Tell him to be a good boy. Hit it, Alex.

Greenlee: Leaving the country right now would make you look really, really bad. Don't do it.

Dixie: Where are you going?
Dimitri: I'm leaving the country.
