ALL MY CHILDREN

AUGUST 13, 1999

Greenlee: Just one more. Let me show you the Cobra.
Scott: Enough yoga for today, ok? I got to get back to work.
Greenlee: I suppose I should get these tapes back to the studio.
Scott: Right. Becca, could you sit here? I want to check a camera angle.
Becca: Ok.
Scott: I think I'm going to get Dixie to sit there. I want her to feel comfortable. What do you think?
Becca: Well, maybe we could give her a photo album, and she could talk about the pictures of Tad and the boys. She could do that.
Scott: You're a genius. Have you seen a photo album around here anywhere?
Becca: Uh-uh.
Greenlee: The photo album thing's a good idea, but have you forgotten turnabout?
Scott: How could I forget about it?
Becca: Oh, you guys had that at your schools, too?
Greenlee: You know about turnabout?
Becca: Well, sure. I guess all high schools have them.
Scott: We talking about the same thing?
Becca: Isn't that where the girls get to ask the guys to the dance?
Greenlee: That's cute, but the girls in my school didn't need a dance to do that. We're talking about an exercise we did in film class at UCLA.
Scott: It's where the filmmaker interviews himself first, you know, kind of to see how it'll feel in front of the camera for the subject.
Greenlee: It's intense, but it really drives home the empathy factor. Ok, so your topic's love affairs, right? So, Becca, tell me about your love life.
Becca: What? No.
Greenlee: Why not?

Raquel: I'm sorry about Dimitri. We tried to come as soon as we could. Mateo and I left for Texas right away. We just got here.
Mateo: Yeah, we came straight from the airport.
Edmund: Ok. Come on in. Come on in.
Raquel: Thanks.
Edmund: Where's Max?
Raquel: He's spending some time with my folks in Texas. See, they have a ranch, and he fell in love with all the animals.
Edmund: Oh, that sounds great. Sounds like fun. Your folks? That's a new development, yeah?
Raquel: Yeah, and they're already spoiling Max like mad. My dad bought max his very own saddle. It's really been good for him.
Edmund: How about you? Must be kind of hard to be away from the kid for a while, huh?
Raquel: Yeah, it is. How are your kids? I'd be happy to baby-sit anytime.
Edmund: Oh, thanks, Raquel.
Gillian: Hi, Mateo. Hi, Raquel.
Raquel: Hi.
Gillian: Hi. You look great.
Raquel: Oh, thanks, thanks. Thank you so much. Well, I finally -- I finally feel healthy again, you know? You, you're looking gorgeous as ever.
Gillian: Oh, thank you. How was Texas?
Raquel: It was so much better than I expected.
Mateo: I'm really sorry about Dimitri.
Edmund: Thanks.
Mateo: You know, I came by before I left, but I had to go before I saw you.
Edmund: Yeah, Peggy told me you were by.
Mateo: Yeah. Did you talk to Mama?
Edmund: Yeah, she called from Chicago. That was very nice.
Mateo: Yeah, good.
Edmund: You know, Mateo, you know I think about you as family.
Mateo: Sure. Yeah, well, we're brothers. You know, so if you need anything, just tell me, ok?
Edmund: Ok.
Why don't you start by telling me what's going on with you and Hayley.

Hayley: What's going on here is friendship. Connection. We've talked about this.
Ryan: Yes, we have. We analyzed it, we rationalized it, we justified it. We talked circles all around it.
Hayley: Around what? We were emotionally raw and hurting. We needed each other like bandages. We were bandages for each other. That's it.
Ryan: That's not it. You know it and I know it. I think it's time that we admit what's really going on between us.

David's Voice: Now, there are symptoms that by themselves would mean nothing, ok? But because of your condition, they could be indicative of something even greater. Fever, back pain, dizziness -- now, all of these things could point to kidney failure.
Dixie's Voice: David, you don't have to scare me.
David's Voice: Listen to me. If you experience any of these things, even for one moment, you are to contact me immediately. Do you understand?
Dixie's Voice: Yes, ok, sure.
David's Voice: Now, if I see any development that raises concern, we might have to rethink this pregnancy.

Dixie: No, I just need to sit down. I just need to sit down for a minute.
Dixie: Oh -- come on, sweetheart, it's going to be ok.
Nurse: Do you need help? Can I help you?

[Dixie imagines the nurse saying…]
Can I take your baby?

Dixie: No! Get -- get away from me!
Dixie: Please just leave me alone. Please, I'm fine.
Ruth: Hey. Hey, Dixie. Is everything all right?
Dixie: Ruth. Hi. Hi.
Ruth: Hey, baby. What's the matter? What -- what's wrong? I mean, you're trembling. What happened?
Nurse: All I did was ask her if she needed my help.
Dixie: And I said I am fine.
Ruth: Ok, you sit down, then, will you, please? Just get off your feet there for a second. Thanks very, very much. I'll look after her. She's my daughter-in-law.
Nurse: Ok.
Dixie: Ruth, I really don't need looking after. If I needed looking after, I'm sure tad would hire a nurse, bodyguard, or the equivalent of some Saint Bernard.
Ruth: People fussing over you too much?
Dixie: Exactly. I mean, you remember Uncle Palmer when I was sick before. He was constantly hovering over me. It's exactly what I want to avoid now, you know? People jumping if I hiccup too loudly.
Ruth: Well, you know it's because we love you.
Dixie: I know. I know. I just want to concentrate on my pregnancy, you know, instead of having people constantly remind me of complications, of worst-case scenarios --
Ruth: Well, Tad is making an effort to be more supportive, isn't he?
Dixie: Oh, yes, yes. He reminds me of my doctors appointments, monitors my fluid intake, my salt, my sugar --
Ruth: Well, if he's micromanaging your pregnancy, it's only because he loves you so much.
Dixie: You're right. Of course you're right. You're right. You're so right. Oh, and at least now he wants the baby, you know.

[Pager beeps]

Dixie: Oh.
Ruth: Oh. Well, I'd better go see what that's all about.
Dixie: Oh.
Ruth: Hey, are you feeling better?
Dixie: Yes, I feel fine.
Ruth: You sure? I mean, what brought you to the hospital today anyway? Do you have an appointment of some kind?
Dixie: What?

[Dixie imagines Ruth saying…] Ruth: Are you here to terminate?

Dixie: No. No, I just -- I'm just going to go home, ok? I just -- I just have to -- I just have to go.
Joe: Dixie. How are you -- what was that all about? Everything all right?
Ruth: No. No, I don't think so.

Mateo: I haven't talked to her since I left, so I guess nothing's going on between us.
v Edmund: Really?
Mateo: Yeah.
Edmund: I'd say just the opposite. Look, Mateo, you know how much I care about you guys and how good I think you are for each other.
Mateo: Did you talk to her?
Edmund: Not since the funeral.
Mateo: Ok. Well, did she tell you what's going on?
Edmund: She didn't. She talked mostly about Dimitri and --

Raquel: Teo?

Edmund: Kept to herself.

Raquel: Hi. Gillian wants to take me out for a girls' night since I'm kid-free.
Edmund: Oh, that's great.
Gillian: So we can catch up with each other.
Raquel: Do you mind?
Mateo: Do I mind? No. Go. Please. Have fun. I'll take the suitcases back to the condo, all right? Then I g to go to the club.
Raquel: That's right. I have my suitcase in the car. Only I didn't pack anything dressy for Texas.
Gillian: Oh, you know what? That's ok because I think I might have something that you can wear that's upstairs in my room.
Raquel: You moved back to Wildwind?
Gillian: Yeah, for now. Come on, let's go change. Bye!
Raquel: Ok. I guess I'll see you at the club.
Mateo: Ok.

Edmund: It's good for Gillian to get out. You know, she's lost without Dimitri.
Mateo: I bet.
Edmund: So, you and Raquel seem to be getting along. Anything happen in Texas?
Mateo: Her parents happened in Texas. I told you the whole story, how they sent her away so we couldn't be together, right? It was like that never happened. All right, it was like we were still a couple. They did everything but put us in the same bedroom.
Edmund: Well, you know, you're the father of their grandson, and feelings change.
Mateo: Yeah.
Edmund: Yeah.
Mateo: Some feelings change.
Edmund: What do you mean?
Mateo: I went to get away, you know. I left so I could -- but I really wanted to come back. You know, the whole time they were pushing Raquel towards me, even though I wasn't trying not to think about her, all I could think about is Hayley.

Hayley: Maybe coming here was a lousy idea after all.
Ryan: Well, why did you come here?
Hayley: I told you. To make amends.
Ryan: And a phone call wouldn't cut it?
Hayley: Fine. Ok, I didn't realize that you would be so thrown by my presence. Next time I'll write you a letter.
Ryan: Hayley, you can come here and talk to me anytime. You know that. That's not the point.
Hayley: What is the point?
Ryan: That there's a lot more going on. Yeah, we've been there for each other and we share deep, intense things, but we also -- we kissed. And we came very close to taking it to the next level.
Hayley: Yeah, well, I take responsibility for that.
Ryan: Well, I'm in it just as deep as you are. It took everything I had to pull myself away from you that night -- everything. I mean, look at you. You are this beautiful, fantastic woman. And I am -- I'm very attracted to you.

Greenlee: I warned you it was intense. But don't worry, I won't put you on the spot. The real turnabout should be done on Mr. Chandler since he's the filmmaker.
Scott: It's a videotape.
Greenlee: Still applies. What's wrong? Can't take the heat?
Scott: No. I've already done the exercise.
Greenlee: Well, I'm sure becca would like to see it firsthand, wouldn't you, Becca? Becca: Oh, I don't know.
Greenlee: I mean, think of how many people Scott's interviewed. And has he ever taken the heat?
Becca: Well, he's told me a few stories.
Greenlee: On camera?
Becca: Well, no, but --
Greenlee: Then it doesn't count. Come on, Scott. Put up or shut up. Let your assistant see how fearless you are.
Scott: All right. Shoot your best shot.
Greenlee: Fair enough. Ok. This is about relationships. So how about -- have you ever slept with a woman on the first date? Be honest.
Scott: Yes.
Greenlee: More than once?
Scott: Where is this leading?
Greenlee: Did you see this woman again?
Scott: Yeah.
Greenlee: How many times?
Scott: A few.
Greenlee: Two, three times a week, maybe?
Scott: Something like that.
Greenlee: Hmm. Sounds pretty hot. And you two kept having a physical relationship?
Scott: And the point you're trying to make would be what?
Greenlee: Are you and this woman still friends? Lovers? Or did you break her heart?
Greenlee: So? Is it A, B, or cC? Friend, lover, or heartbreaker? Tape's rolling, and Becca and I are waiting.
Scott: I don't know. You'd have to ask the lady.
Greenlee: Oh. Such a gentleman. I'm sure a conversation with the lady can definitely be arranged.
Scott: Well, then I hope she'd say we're still friends.
Greenlee: Boring.

[Telephone rings]

Greenlee: Should I get that?
Scott: Yeah.
Greenlee: Hi.
Oh. Hi, Tad. Yeah. Yeah, I've got the tapes right here. Will do. I'm heading back to the station right now. See you in a few. Well, how'd I do? Do I still have it?
Scott: You treated me like a pro.
Greenlee: Hmm. What can I say? You look great. The camera loves you.
Scott: Thank you.
Greenlee: Going back to the station?
Scott: No. I took the day off to do this.
Greenlee: Catch up with you later, then.
Scott: Ok.
Greenlee: See you around, Becca.
Scott: Greenlee always had a knack of going for the jugular.
Becca: What are you doing?
Scott: Rewinding the tape.
Becca: Don't you want to see the interview?
Scott: Nope. Don't need to.

Gillian: Oh. Feels good to be around music and people again.
Raquel: Oh, yeah. Ooh. It sure is. After Max was born, nights on the town were pretty nonexistent for me.
Gillian: Well, we can make up for that while he's away. We can go out dancing, go to the movies. Excuse me. Could we please get two margaritas, straight up, no salt? Is that ok?
Raquel: Sure. So, have you seen much of Ryan?
Gillian: Yeah. You know, actually, I have. He's been -- he's been really wonderful since Dimitri died. But how about you? How was it going away with Mateo, being together, huh?
Raquel: Well, we weren't really together together. You know, my parents were around and Max was there. I got to tell you, I was really terrified. I thought they were going to treat him like the enemy. He was taking a real chance showing up with me.
Gillian: Right.
Raquel: But they made a real turnaround. They apologized for keeping us apart, and they want us to be together for Max.
Gillian: So how did Mateo feel about that?
Raquel: He was as surprised as I was. I mean, he sure wasn't expecting such a warm welcome. Mom was cooking him all his favorite meals, and Dad kept taking photos of the three of us.
Gillian: And what about Hayley? I mean, how does Mateo feel about her?
Raquel: That was the best thing. Nothing. He never even mentioned her name the entire time we were gone.

Edmund: So you want to stick around, have some dinner here?
Mateo: I'd love to. I got to get to the club.
Edmund: Hayley going to be there?
Mateo: I don't know. Last conversation I had with her, I accused her of lying and cheating.
Edmund: You still believe that?
Mateo: I don't know. I don't know anything anymore. I did almost call her a couple times when I was in Texas.
Edmund: So why didn't you?
Mateo: I couldn't. I mean, I said so many horrible things to her. I wouldn't know where to begin.
Edmund: Mateo, I've been there -- you know, when your sister and I were through the worst of it. But after I had chance to calm -- after we both had a chance to cool off, we found out that trying to figure out who was to blame was a hell of a lot less important than trying to find our way back to each other.
Mateo: Yeah, well, maybe that's what I want for Hayley and me. But we're not there yet.
Hayley: I don't know what to say. You're a dream from your head to your toes, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice.
Ryan: Don't. There's a lot more to this than just physical attraction. And when I look into your beautiful, beautiful eyes, your big, blue eyes, and I see -- I see a woman that is equally as beautiful on the inside. It's just easy for me to get lost in them.
Ryan: No, no. No, no, no, no, no. You see, this -- this is why we can't. This is why we can't. We can't see each other anymore.
Hayley: That's it? You're cutting me off. What -- "Sorry, miss, no more friendship for you, you've had enough"?
Ryan: That's not what I'm saying --
Hayley: That's funny, because I thought I heard you say that we couldn't see each other anymore.
Ryan: Alone. Ok? Alone, when we're like this, when we're vulnerable.
Hayley: Isn't that when friends need each other the most?
Ryan: Yes. Yes, it is. It is, but it's too dangerous. Hayley, we're going to screw everything up if there aren't people around us.
Hayley: Are you serious?
Ryan: Your friendship has kept me honest, and at this rate, we're going to lose that. We're going to lose that completely.
Hayley: Is this about Gillian? Because I saw you two together at the funeral, and you looked like you were getting closer, to me.
Ryan: I promised Edmund that I would help her through this rough time.
Hayley: So you were just honoring your promise?
Ryan: Well, no, I was glad that I could comfort her. I like to come through for people that I care about, which is exactly why I don't want to jeopardize us, our friendship. Because if there's a way to screw it up, I'll find it.
Hayley: Ryan, don't talk that way about yourself. Come here. Knock it off. I understand. I do. I am glad that you were there for Gillian. And I don't want to lose you in my life. And since we can't take any more chances with having another miscommunication, we can go public.
Ryan: So, no hard feelings or whatever?
Hayley: Uh-uh. Not a one. How about you?
Ryan: So still friends?
Hayley: Always.

[Telephone rings]

Hayley: Sorry. Hello? No. Are you serious? Well -- no, no. No -- ok, I'll be right there. That was the club. The almost brand-new air-conditioning unit has broken down. I don't know. It seems to be having some sort of meltdown or something. I have to get over there.
Ryan: Oh. The guys who installed it told me this kind of thing might happen. That's why they showed me -- there's a checklist. There's a checklist and a reset button for troubleshooting and a -- you know, it'd be a lot easier if you just let me show you.
Hayley: You really wouldn't mind coming to the club?
Ryan: No. No, there'll be people around. At least it happened while Mateo's out of town.
Hayley: Yeah.

Mateo: Ok. Edmund: Where are you headed off to? The club?
Mateo: Yeah. Got to go to work.
Edmund: Any phone calls along the way?
Mateo: Good try. All right, look, let's say I do want to work things out. I'm not saying I am, all right? But let's say I do. You know, I -- I don't think it's the type of thing that I should do on the phone. I think it should be done face to face. What do you think?
Edmund: Face to face is good. What about Raquel?
Mateo: I don't know. I don't know what her plans are. I know she came back to get Max's things, so I assume she's going back to Texas.
Edmund: Hmm. We'll see what happens in time.
Mateo: Whatever. I can't control that anymore. Listen --
Edmund: What? Mateo: So you think I should work things out, huh?
Edmund: Good luck.
Mateo: Hey, listen, if you ever need to talk to me about something --
Edmund: Yeah.
Mateo: Ok.
Edmund: Right back at you.
Mateo: Thank you.

Raquel: My mom -- she still had my high school yearbook. It was so funny seeing Mateo and I as freshmen.
Thank you.
We looked like babies. Oh, then the county fair was going on, so we took Max. And we rode the Ferris wheel and drank slushies, made corn dogs. It was so great. Oh, and then Mateo won max this giant armadillo.
Gillian: Oh, really? They give those away? Where do you keep it?
Raquel: No, no. It was a stuffed toy, Gillian. You see, Mateo had to knock down these bottles with a ball, and --
Gillian: Oh
Raquel: You win a prize.
Gillian: Yeah.
Raquel: On the way home, Max fell asleep in the car, and Mateo and I were riding underneath the big, starry sky with the windows rolled down and the wind blowing in our hair, the radio on. It was just like old times.
Gillian: So did any of this lead up to anything?
Raquel: Well, Max was right in the back seat. But I got the definite feeling that it could have. It still might.
Gillian: Are you sure? I mean, you were just together for a whole week and nothing happened. So what makes you think that something still might happen?
Raquel: Well, my parents were around, and Max was always under foot. But now we're alone and right across the walkway from each other. It might just be a matter of time. Cheers.
Gillian: Cheers.

Becca: Look at this picture Tad in that chicken suit proposing to Dixie. Remember when she told us that?
Scott: Oh, how could I not? It's legendary.
Becca: Yeah, Tad and Dixie have a lot of history together. There seems to be a bunch of that going around.
Becca: Hey.
Dixie: Oh, you're still here.
Becca: Dixie, are you all right? Dixie?
Dixie: Hmm?
Becca: Come on. Why don't you sit down. Something's wrong.

[Dixie imagines Becca saying…]
Give me the baby.

Dixie: Nothing is wrong.

\ Ruth: I stopped by Tad's office earlier.
Joe: Oh? How's he doing?
Ruth: Well, he's still, you know, pretty concerned about Dixie and about this pregnancy.
Joe: Well, judging from the way she looked just now, I'd say he has good reason to.
Ruth: You didn't see the half of it. I mean, I walked in on Dixie, and she was -- she was actually screaming at one of our nurses.
Joe: Why?
Ruth: Well, because the woman asked her if she needed some help. She said no, she didn't want any -- all this fussing over her, and there's too many people fussing, including Tad.
Joe: Yeah. Well, he's worried about her. We're all worried about her. Actually, I still go back and forth about this. I would really love having another grandchild, especially one created by those two.
Ruth: Oh, me, too. Me, too.
Joe: But the risks involved in this pregnancy are just overwhelming.
Ruth: But, darling, I mean, she is under Dr. Clader's care, and David is working with her. And I tell you, her spirits are absolutely marvelous.
Joe: Still, the statistics are not in her favor.
Ruth: No, but I can understand her wanting not so much doom and gloom around this pregnancy. She wants to enjoy it more. I mean, it is a very special time for a woman.
Joe: Well, for a healthy woman, yes.
Ruth: Oh, well, darling, now, you know her. She's not focusing on risk-taking. She's focusing on having this baby.
Joe: Well, I guess medical science is no match for an optimistic mother. I don't think Tad is, either.
Ruth: Well, it is a very stressful situation, you know? But I guess they're just going to have to handle it the way we did, you know. After all, it's their life. And they're -- they're both really responsible adults.
Joe: Funny -- thinking of Tad as a responsible adult. Not so long ago, that would have been an oxymoron.
Ruth: Yeah, I know. Our son has come a long way.
Joe: Yes, he has. He has. And I credit that all to Dixie. But now, the way she has her head in the clouds about this baby, he's the one with his feet on the ground.

Becca: Whoa, Dixie. I'm sorry. You just looked like you needed to chill out a bit. Come on. Do you want to sit down? I can make you some lemonade.
Dixie: God. For the last time, I'm fine. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Becca. I didn't mean to -- I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. I'm so sorry. I'm just tired. I didn't sleep well last night.
Becca: It's no problem.
Dixie: I just -- I walked in, I saw the camera and all that gear, and it just reminded me of this time I was in front of a video camera, ok?
Scott: Did something bad happen?
Dixie: No. No. I was just saying good-bye, you know.
Scott: We've set up for the interview, but if you'd rather do it tomorrow --
Dixie: No, no. Let's do it now. Unless I look too frazzled.
Becca: No, no, no, no, no. You look beautiful, as always.
Dixie: Ok.
Scott: Take a seat on the couch. Ok?
Dixie: Ok.
Becca: Yeah. You can sit down. Just sit down right here.
Dixie: Ok.
Becca: Why don't you look through the photo album, talk about a picture of Tad and, you know, the kids.
Dixie: Ok.
Becca: Whatever you want.
Scott: Whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Dixie: Ok.
Dixie: Well. I opened up to a picture of Junior when he was just a little baby. Oh, he's so tiny. You know, it's just so hard to believe that anybody is ever so little and fragile, isn't it? It's such a wonder. You know, when I think about women -- how we've been giving birth, you know, ever since civilization began -- you know, it's just -- just such a beautiful thing. It makes me -- it makes me very proud to be a woman.
Scott: So you're very excited about this baby, yeah?
Dixie: Oh, excited doesn't even begin to describe. I mean, Tad and I -- we've been just given this marvelous second chance, you know, in so many ways. This baby is so much a part of that, you know? We've been wanting to have a baby, and so she's just like a dream come true, you know? I can't wait to see tad martin as the father of a little girl. Right? Oh, and when she starts dating, it's just going to be crazy because, you know, tad -- there isn't a line in the book that he hasn't used, you know, or an excuse. And -- oh, yes, he's going to walk her down the aisle someday. I can see that. Oh. No, I -- I don't want to think about that myself. Gets me all -- oh. But it's a good thing I don't have to think about that, right? Because there's going to be a lifetime of memories and dollhouses and skinned knees, cramming for tests. Oh, don't worry, sweetie. Be a long time before I have to let you go.

Gillian: You know, Raquel, I used to wish that I would wake up in the morning and hoping that Ryan would realize how much he missed me, too.
Raquel: I'm sorry. I can't hear you.
Gillian: I was just talking about Ryan. No, actually, I was talking about Mateo.
Raquel: Oh, Mateo. I wish he'd hurry up and get here.
Gillian: Yeah, well, like I was saying, maybe you should just keep hoping.
Raquel: I'm sorry, Gillian. I didn't hear what you said. The music's so loud. But I love this song, don't you?
Gillian: Yeah.
Raquel: Well, you want to dance? I haven't danced in a while, but I'm sure I can show you a few Latin steps.
Gillian: Yeah, I know a few.
Raquel: Oh, then show me. All right.

Hayley: Thank you, Ryan. It would have taken me forever to find the manual and the whole sequence code. By that time, the customers would have melted into their not-so-frozen daiquiris.
Ryan: No problem. What I'll do is I'll write it out, I'll post it by the unit so if it happens again, you'll know what to do.
Hayley: Ok.
Ryan: And I'll explain it to the new bartender. Alright?
Hayley: Yeah, great. Thanks, Ryan.
Ryan: Ok.
Hayley: Ok, thanks.
Ryan: Yo, Jeff. Come on back for a sec.

Raquel: Whoo! You know what? I need a break.
Gillian: Yeah, me, too.
Raquel: Maybe later. Thanks.
Gillian: Thanks.
Raquel: Thanks. Don't tell me they dance like this in Hungary. Because you got the moves, my friend.
Gillian: So do you.
Raquel: Thank you so much for bringing me out. I forgot how much I love to dance.
Gillian: So why'd you stop?
Raquel: Well, I wanted to save my slow dances for Mateo.
Gillian: Well, there are lots of guys, and there are lots of dances.
Raquel: As far as I'm concerned, there's only Mateo.
Gillian: I -- I thought you moved on.
Raquel: I did, but life moved me back. I guess I just have to be patient, give it some time.
Gillian: Give what time?
Raquel: Gillian, I came to Pine Valley to get my husband back, but I couldn't because of Hayley. But now that Mateo and Hayley are broken up, there's nothing in my way, and I intend to get what I came for.

Ruth: You know, Tad and Dixie have overcome almost every obstacle imaginable. And despite the odds against her getting pregnant, now they have this baby. So you know, maybe it's just meant to be.
Joe: Maybe. She certainly thinks so. I will be the first to celebrate the arrival of our grandchild. Just don't want to lose our daughter-in-law in the process.
Ruth: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Neither do i. I was very -- I was very nervous about her, especially after the way she acted today. But I don't know. I'm just trying -- I'm trying to keep the faith. You know, Kate was the one who taught me how important that was. And -- after all, it's really out of our hands now, you know.
Joe: They're both committed to the pregnancy now. It's in Tad and Dixie's hands from now on in.
Ruth: No, darling. It's in the hands of someone even more powerful.

Dixie: Just never underestimate the power of love. Because sometimes, you know, breakups -- they don't necessitate endings. Sometimes they can be new beginnings. Tad and I are a perfect example of that. And this baby -- this new life -- it's living proof.
Scott: That's a wrap. Thanks, Dixie. That's -that's a great ending.
Becca: You were so wonderful.
Dixie: Well -- well, thanks. It was a pleasure. But you know what? I am a little tired, so I think I'm going to lie down -- unless you need me for anything else.
Scott: No, I got it. Thank you.
Dixie: Ok, good.
Becca: Dixie? Dixie, your leg -- you're bleeding.
Dixie: Oh, God. Oh -- God. It's my baby.
