ALL MY CHILDREN

AUGUST 4, 1999

Marian: Oh, Stuart, you're not helping me here.
Stuart: I'm sorry, but I -- you look beautiful in everything.
Marian: Well, it's sweet of you to say, but I'm not sure the Queen of England's going to agree with you. Oh, darling, run and get that navy blue tie, will you? I want to see if it matches this dress.
Stuart: You're so excited. I've never seen you so undone.
Marian: This is just past my wildest expectations. I mean, my life just keeps getting better and better. First, I -- I married the man of my dreams -- mmm -- I got lipstick on you -- and then I became Mimi to the most beautiful baby in the entire world. And now I'm going to meet the Queen on England. You know, just a couple of years ago, I was Marian Colby, the town joke. And now I'm Marian Chandler, starring in her own real-life fairy tale. Move over, Julia Roberts. I've got "Pretty Woman" beat by light-years.
Stuart: "Light" is so right. You're going to be the most beautiful woman at that party. And the Queen of England right now, I'm sure, is rummaging through her closet looking for something because you're coming.
Marian: Oh, Stuart. I love you. Oh, no, don't tickle me.
Scott: Hey.
Marian: Hi.
Scott: Someone going on a trip?
Marian: Oh, that's very funny, darling. Have you finished packing? And I hope you remembered to put that beautiful gray morning suit in. Oh, guys -- umbrellas. We all have to take umbrellas. Don't forget.
Scott: Oh, no.
Marian: Oh -- your suit's still in the cleaners, isn't it? Stuart, call the cleaners. Tell them we're going to England, to put a rush on it.
Stuart: Ok.
Marian: Never mind, darling. I'll do it myself.
Scott: No. No, that's not it. I'm sorry. I just -- I can't.
Marian: You just can't what?
Scott: I can't leave. I've canceled my reservation.

Trevor: Don't be standing out here. Come on. Come on in. I thought you were in court all day today.
Belinda: Yeah, I thought I would be, too, but the jury came back early. You can count it a win. And so I decided that the early finish was a sign, and that's why I'm here.
Trevor: What's up?
Belinda: Vacation. Now, if I don't turn over my caseload right now, I'm afraid I might change my mind. What do you think, partner? Can you help me out?
Trevor: Hand it over.
Belinda: Oh.
Trevor: Oh.
Belinda: Thank you, Trevor.
Trevor: Yeah, ok.
Belinda: I really appreciate it.
Janet: Did you hear about Dimitri Marick?
Belinda: Yeah. I heard.
Janet: It's awful.
Belinda: Yeah, it really is, which is actually what made me stop and think that maybe I should be taking some time for myself, you know, before it all passes by.
Trevor: And this vacation, I trust, you're not doing it alone.
Belinda: Well, I'm not sure. I mean, there is a spa that I had, I thought I'd check it out. I could do that solo.
Trevor: Solo? What about Mr. Sword?
Janet: Hey, Trevor, why don't you and Belinda concentrate on her cases, ok?
Trevor: Yeah.
Belinda: Thank you.
Trevor: You got any iced tea around, Hon?
Janet: Anything else?
Trevor: Oh.
Belinda: All right, let me tell you what's going on here.

Janet: Sweetie, what's all that?
Amanda: Laundry. I'm into it.
Janet: Ok. Let me know if you need any help setting the machine.
Amanda: Sure. Why are Daddy and Belinda doing work here?
Janet: Because Belinda is going away for a couple days. Your father's going to take over her caseload.
Amanda: No, he can't. Belinda, you can't go away.

Mateo: Yo, Dino, please tell me you ordered that margarita mix, huh? Dino? What do you want?
Ryan: Well, I think we got some stuff to clear up. You know, I've been trying to track you down. I left you messages.
Mateo: And I didn't return the messages, so that should have told you something, huh?
Ryan: It's about Hayley. You got to listen to me, Mateo.
Mateo: I ain't got to do nothing. I don't give a damn what you have to say, especially if it's about Hayley, all right? The two of you can go to hell for all I care.
Ryan: All right. That's fine. That's fine. You can be angry with me. I understand that. But don't try and take this out on Hayley. She's not the blame for all of this --
Mateo: Lavery --
Ryan: Not that loan that you couldn't get, not --
Mateo: Lavery -- Lavery, stay out of my business. Do yourself a favor.
Ryan: Hayley is your business.
Mateo: She was my business.
Ryan: Is that why you're going to Texas with Raquel and with Max?
Mateo: I'm going to Texas because my son needs me.
Ryan: Well, I'm here to tell you that Hayley needs you, too. She's in pieces, Mateo. Pieces. It's to the point where I think she can do almost anything.

Hayley: Hi, I'm Hayley, and I'm an alcoholic. I'm here today just like I've been here every day. And I got to tell you, I keep asking myself why am I going through the motions, why do I come to these meetings, because they're not helping me? I keep counting all the disasters in my life, and I'm really scared. I'm trying to take everything one minute at a time. But it is all I can do to not pick up a glass of vodka. It would be so easy. And so easy, it terrifies me.

Mateo: Hayley could do something, huh? Like what? Drink? She's always spouting off how she's the only person who can control that, and she will. You see, Hayley looks out for herself just fine. I figured that out. She always meets her needs. And when she can't, there's always dear old Dad.
Ryan: Maybe you're not hearing me. I'm telling you that Hayley's in a lot of pain.
Mateo: I did hear you. Not my problem.
Ryan: Why don't you just stand here and talk to me for a second?
Mateo: Right, so you came here to talk, huh? Or did you come here to fight? Please tell me you came here to fight.
Ryan: I came here to make you listen.
Mateo: What are you going to tell me? What are you going to tell me that I don't already know, huh? I've been through the drill. I've said it a thousand times. I've heard those words -- "Hayley needs me. Hayley needs help." But you know what? I was wrong. Hayley doesn't need me. She doesn't need my help. Hayley just needs! She's a big sinkhole of need. And if you get too close, she's going to suck you right in.
Ryan: This is amazing, man. She's in real trouble here, and all you can do is you can rip her to shreds. Do you understand this anger is killing her?
Mateo: Please, please. Find another reason to justify your little affair because I'm not taking the rap for this.
Ryan: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Get it through your head. There's no affair.
Mateo: Where'd she sleep last night? Oh. You didn't think I knew about that, right? Go ahead, tell me. Where'd she sleep?
Ryan: On my couch.
Mateo: Yeah, she likes it on the couch, doesn't she? But you know what? Did you try the floor, because she really, really likes the floor.

Hayley: Everything I started to believe in is mocking me now. There's a nonstop voice in my head that makes fun of me. And it says, "you know, you thought you could have a normal life, didn't you? Ha." You tried to escape, tried to break free of my mother's curse, you know. I tried to find and hold on to real love. I was so determined to prove that I was nothing like that woman -- empty and selfish and desperate. But now I think I was wrong. I don't know. I don't know, because life is going on all around me, and I don't feel connected to anything or anybody, even the people I love. I can't stand to be in the same room with them. I can't stand to see their eyes on me. They're so full of expectation. I will disappoint them. I always do. And their looks of pity -- because they're right. I'm very sad and broken. And I just want to make it all go away. I just want -- I want it to go away. And I can feel the cold glass in the palm of my hand. And I can hear the ice cubes and the splash of vodka. And I can -- I can feel the burn as it goes down my throat and into my chest. Oh, God, help me. I want drink.

Marian: No. You can't cancel, Scott. This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Scott: It's done. Look, I should have told you last night, but I've been so wrapped up in this project that I --
Marian: Well, certainly your video can wait one week. Ah, and what about that nice little assistant of yours, that Becca girl? Can't she take care of things while you're away?
Scott: I don't want to throw this in her lap. It's my project.
Marian: Of course it is. And you can do it next week. I mean, it is your project, so you can set your own pace, can't you?
Scott: Yeah, but I'm still in the middle of interviewing a couple right now, and I can't bolt now.
Stuart: Marian -- we understand, Scott.
Scott: Look, just because I'm not going doesn't mean that you guys can't go.
Marian: Did you tell Adam that you've backed out?
Scott: Yeah. I had to call him to cancel the tickets.
Marian: Oh. Oh, well, I guess it's all over, then. I mean, we were just going to tag along, you know, for you. I'm sure Adam canceled our reservations faster than you can say Mary Poppins.
Scott: I'm sorry --
Stuart: Scott, it's ok. It's ok.
Scott: I got to go. I just came to pick up my tripod.
Stuart: Yeah.
Marian: Mary Poppins. Yes! Mary Poppins! What a great idea.

Janet: Amanda, your father offered to help Belinda. It's his decision, not yours.
Trevor: Sweetheart, you owe our guest an apology.
Belinda: No, Trevor, it's ok.
Trevor: No, it was rude, and honestly, it's kind of strange.
Amanda: I'm sorry. It's just that my Dad has so much work already. And what about Tim? If you and Mommy don't go to Paris, he'll marry that French girl, Mademoiselle Quelque-Chose.
Janet: I thought you didn't know her name.
Amanda: I just remembered.
Belinda: Tim's getting married?
Amanda: Yes. In Paris.
Trevor: Don't worry. We got everything under control. Everything. And you deserve a vacation. And I don't even want you thinking about a single case. I don't care.
Belinda: Oh, but, Trevor, wait a minute. If this is a bad time -- I mean, how old is Tim?
Trevor: He's not old enough, and it's a good time. You just go and have that extra splash in that hot tub for me and rethink that solo thing, ok?
Belinda: Ok.

[Pager beeps]

Trevor: Do you want me to get that?
Belinda: No. Thanks. It's personal. I'll return the call later.
Trevor: All right.
Belinda: Thank you.
Trevor: Yeah. You have a safe trip and have a blast.
Belinda: All right. Bye.
Trevor: Ok?
Belinda: Ok.

Trevor: A tout a l'heure. What was that all about?
Amanda: Sorry. I just freaked. What about Tim and that floozy?
Janet: We sent Tim a telegram.
Trevor: And we told him not to get married until we meet this girl.
Amanda: But --
Janet: I think it's important that Tim knows that we trust his judgment. End of discussion, all right? Now, iced tea, anyone?
Trevor: Actually, I'm kind of in the mood for a frozen yogurt sundae. What do you say, Amanda, huh?
Amanda: Hold on. I need to call Carrie.
Trevor: Carrie? It's always with the Carrie thing. I'll be waiting.
Amanda: Hello, Brooke? It's Amanda. Can you come over right away? I need your help.

[Knock on door]

Adrian: Hello, stranger.
Belinda: Hi.
Adrian: May I come in?
Belinda: Of course.
Adrian: You know, I thought you had been kidnapped or taken hostage. Fortunately, your secretary assured me that you'd been seen alive and well on a daily basis.
Belinda: Adrian, it hasn't been that long.
Adrian: It's been since your birthday. You do the math. Look, I know it wasn't the most romantic spot in Pine Valley, but I honestly thought that you would enjoy the batting cages.
Belinda: I did, Adrian. It wasn't that.
Adrian: Then what was it? Why have you been avoiding me?
Belinda: I guess there's no other way to say it but just to say it. I've been having second thoughts about us.

Axel: You know, God's trying to shake the truth out of you.
Hayley: I'm so scared, Axel.
Axel: You're not sleeping, are you? Look, do you need to go somewhere? You really shouldn't be alone.
Hayley: No. No. If you have a couple of minutes --
Axel: I'm here. Pour it out. Don't pour it in. Can I buy you a cup of coffee?
Hayley: Yeah. I've never been this close to a drink before.
Axel: Look, what -- what triggered this? What's happened since I last talked to you?
Hayley: Well, you heard about Dimitri Marick suddenly dying.
Axel: Yeah. It's a real shock. You're related to him, sort of, right?
Hayley: Yeah, in a roundabout way. He was one of the good guys, Axel, you know? I guess I just always figured he'd -- he'd always be around. I thought of him as indestructible. I don't know why this is affecting me this -- this badly. You know, I -- I just think, like, why now? Why have to end like that? You know, he's been through so much. It's just not fair.
Axel: Look, a lot of stuff is not fair. I mean, like you and Mateo.
Hayley: Mateo is leaving me. He's going away with his first wife and their child.
Axel: So, in a way, two deaths. And that would do it.
Hayley: My God. You're right. That's exactly how I feel. I feel like we've died, Mateo and me, you know? He's turning his back on me, and he's turning to Raquel.
Axel: Look, are you sure of that, though? I mean, maybe -- maybe he's just taking space.
Hayley: No. He doesn't believe in me anymore. He doesn't trust me anymore. So why wouldn't he turn to her? I mean, she has been there waiting patiently, faithfully for all these years, never giving up hope. Maybe this is Raquel's happily-ever-after.

Mateo: Did Hayley ask you to come here, or you trying to be a hero all by yourself?
Ryan: No, Hayley has no idea that I'm here.
Mateo: Keeping secrets already? Ooh. You're off to a bad start.
Ryan: The woman that swore that she would love you forever is losing her grip on everything, and you're just taking these little shots at me.
Mateo: Do you think I can do something to help? No, you see, you're wasting your time. Ryan, I'm all out of the savior business. Yeah, I'm getting out. I'm not riding to the rescue anymore. I quit. That's your job now. But you better strap in tight. You're in for the ride of your life. Really. I know. I've been there. Since the moment I met Hayley, you know, on our beach -- that's where it began for us, and that's where it began for you. You see, I was saving her from some guy that she was about to marry -- you know, some guy she was running away from. Oh. That's what you were doing, too. Do you see -- do you see the pattern here? You know, Ryan, maybe -- maybe it's not Hayley who needs the saving. Maybe it's the sucker who takes her on.
Ryan: You know what? When I first met you, I thought you were this macho idiot. But you claimed that it was all about protecting Hayley, and I believed it. I had to believe it. Hayley laid into me for doubting you. She defended you. She stood up for you. And I thought to myself -- I thought, "this is unconditional love. It exists."
Mateo: And that's when you decided you should have her for yourself, right?
Ryan: You see, Hayley was not playing some stupid game for attention, Mateo. She's still not. She wouldn't do that. What she needs right now is some of that unconditional love from the guy that she stood up for all this time.
Mateo: You're telling me what she needs? You're telling me what kind of woman she is, like you know something profound and important about Hayley that I don't? You're a fool.
Ryan: Oh. I'm the fool?
Mateo: Mm-hmm. You see, normally I'd take you outside and I'd wipe the street with you. But this time what I'm going to do is I'm going to sit back, grab a bag of popcorn, and enjoy the show. She's going to destroy you. Because you don't get it.
Ryan: No, I don't think you do.
Mateo: No, I do. I do. I finally do, and I'm happy, because, you see -- if you -- let's say you could make her happy, ok? She'd screw it up. She can't be happy. You see, you turn yourself around and you run yourself in circles trying to make her happy, and you can bet she's going to have a guy lined up, ready to jump in to give it his all. You want to be the next guy in line? Go for it!

Hayley: My new thing is that I don't deserve Mateo.
Axel: No, look, whatever happens in your relationship has nothing to do with whether you deserve Mateo or not. You got to stop beating up on yourself.
Hayley: Right.
Axel: I'm know everything I'm sayings is just words, but you have to believe.. You've really got to own this.
Hayley: Yeah, but this is so hard now because we're not talking to each other anymore, and he's taking his ex-wife and their son away, and --
Axel: Look, you've got to focus on you -- yourself. Now, go ahead. Right now.
Hayley: Ok. What do I feel? What do I want?
Hayley: I want a drink. This is -- this is what happens when I focus on myself. Do you see?
Axel: Then why did you go up and share, hmm? You don't want to slip. Now, you've got to have faith in that as much as you have faith in anything, and that will get you through. Take it -- take it one day at a time. Don't get caught in the "any day now." And I think you're doing great. But I want to give you my beeper number, and I want you to use it anytime, day or night.

[Pager beeps]

Axel: Oh. That's probably my agent. Would you excuse me just one second?
Hayley: Yeah.
Axel: Hi, this is Axel. Did you page me? Oh, hi, Brooke. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Count me in. Ok. I'll talk to you later. Bye. Ok.
I'm serious about you using -- Hayley? Hayley?

Marian: Excuse me. Oh! Liza.
Liza: Mama. Where are you racing off to? You almost mowed me down.
Marian: I'm sorry, darling, but I had to find you before you left, and Winifred told me you were here. Oh, did Colby have her checkup?
Liza: Mother, did you --
Marian: Oh, look at her. You are so beautiful. Isn't she beautiful, darling?
Liza: Yes, she is, but --
Marian: That's why I'm here, darling. Listen, I had a flash of inspiration. While you and Adam are in England, you're going to be hopping from one soiree to the other, so you're going to need someone to look after little Colby.
Liza: Oh, mother --
Marian: And you don't want to hire a complete stranger, darling. So I'm going to go with you. I mean, why hire a stuffy old English nanny when you've got me -- Mimi Poppins.
Liza: No, that's not necessary.
Marian: Oh, I insist. I really do.
Liza: No, no, no.
We're not going. Marian: You're not?
Liza: No. We're not going. We just got done with the pediatrician, and Colby has an ear infection. We can't fly. So Adam's going to be going, and Colby and I will stay at home.
Marian: You're not going.
Liza: No. We can't go. It's a wonderfully thoughtful offer, really. I got to go get the prescription filled, so I'll call you later?
Marian: Ok, ok. Bye.

[Marian sits down and notices she has two different shoes on]

Marian: Oh. Oh, my God. Look at -- oh. This is embarrassing.

Belinda: Adrian, we can still be friends.
Adrian: Oh, no. I don't think so. Not yet. Not until you tell me what I did to cause this.
Belinda: I'm not saying that you did anything.
Adrian: Ok, then what did you do?
Belinda: Am I being cross-examined?
Adrian: You're damn straight. So start coughing up some answers, counselor, because I am not going anywhere until you do, hmm? Your birthday. Please continue.
Belinda: I had allowed myself to get carried away. I -- until that night when I came crashing down to the earth with a big old thud.
Adrian: That night wasn't what you expected? Then what did you expect?
Belinda: Oh, never mind. This is too embarrassing.
Adrian: Oh, sure. This is just great. Why don't we go ahead and break up? That way we'll spare you the embarrassment.
Belinda: Look. You know, I saw the little jewelry box, and I -- I -- I thought that --
Adrian: Oh. Ok. You thought that there was something else in that box besides a gold necklace. Maybe the third finger, left hand?
Belinda: Listen, you know, it's not even like I think that we're ready for that, you know? But for an instant, I saw it, and I thought that --
Adrian: And you were disappointed, huh? So you decided to regroup, retreat, duck, and cover. Was that it?
Belinda: Excuse me?
Adrian: We've been here before, remember? You decided to end our little three-week affair. Come on, Belinda. I thought you were going to call me in on all decisions regarding our relationship. And as far as I'm concerned, our relationship is still on.

[Doorbell rings]

Amanda: I've got it. Hi. Come on in.
Brooke: Hi.
Amanda: I'm so glad you're here.
Brooke: Ok. Listen, we're all set, ok?
Amanda: no, we're not. I'm in big trouble.
Brooke: Oh. I'll say. What happened?
Amanda: I was doing the laundry so Mom and Dad would have clean clothes to take on their trip, and one of dad's red t-shirts got in with the whites, so now everything is pink.
Brooke: Well, can you find something else to pack?
Amanda: Why pack? They're not going.
Brooke: What?
Amanda: Belinda's going on vacation, too, so my dad has to do her work along with his. It's a mess. That's why I called you. It's hard enough caring my dad's schedule. Now I have to clear Belinda's too. My mom and dad are never going to have a real honeymoon. What do I do?
Trevor: What are you going to do about what?
Trevor: What's all the fuss about, sweetheart?
Brooke: Look at this. Amanda told me she was helping with the laundry, and one of your red shirts got in with the whites, and --
Trevor: Oh.
Janet: It's ok, sweetheart. We'll just throw some bleach in with the wash and run it through again. Don't worry about it.
Amanda: You sure you're not mad?
Janet: Of course not. I made the same mistake myself the first time I tried to do the laundry. Only I shrunk everything, too.
Brooke: See, there? Now, look, you were worried for nothing, hmm? There's an easy solution to every problem.
Trevor: Honey, I'm going to head over to the office and jump on Belindar's briefs.
Janet: Ok. I'm just going to put this in the wash.
Trevor: Unless you wanted to talk to me about something? You stopped by to see me?
Brooke: Yes. Actually, I did. I almost forgot. I need some legal advice. There's a woman at the shelter I was talking to the other day. She's looking for a lawyer.
Trevor: Uh-huh.
Brooke: Well, it's a long, long story. It actually started about two months ago. I was there -- I was going over the books, and --

Belinda: Let me get this straight. You accuse me of making a unilateral decision about ending our relationship, then you turn around and tell me that it's not over. Now, which one of us is being unilateral?
Adrian: Look, I don't want to fight, all right? I really don't. And I definitely don't want to break up.
Belinda: Me, either. But now what?
Adrian: Maybe we have to be more clear about what it is we really want.
Belinda: Ok, Mr. Man with all the answers. Do you know what you want?
Adrian: Yes, I do. You. I want you. What about you? What do you want?
Belinda: Well, I'm not sure. I mean, I think we're ready for the next level. I just don't know what that is.
Adrian: Well -- ok. How about a partnership?
Belinda: Partners?
Adrian: Yeah. I mean, you need trust, honesty, communication, a little reliance. Mike and I worked together. We told each other everything. We had to. Our lives depended on it. We were always there for each other, you know.
Belinda: Yeah. I mean, Trevor and I are partners. We have that kind of relationship. That's what you mean, right?
Adrian: Well, I'm not quite sure I'm up to being a wisecracking white dude, but --
Belinda: Wait. But that's exactly what you're asking me to be.
Adrian: And I'll be sure to tell Mike you said that. So, what about it, hmm? Partners?
Belinda: Partners.
Adrian: I don't think so. We're going to seal this with a kiss so you don't sink.

Ryan: You want to know what the amazing thing is? The amazing thing is that I actually -- I used to admire you. I used to think you were this solid guy, and I held your love with Hayley up like it was this ideal -- this perfect love.
Mateo: Kind of like finding out there's no Santa Claus, huh?
Ryan: Yeah. Whatever. What I'm trying to tell you is that Hayley stood up for you. She stood by you. But when the real test came, you failed. Not her -- you. You're lucky enough to have the best woman that I ever met love you, and you can't see it. But I'm starting to think that maybe Hayley is really starting to see you.

Marian: Mary Poppins.
Stuart: Marian?
Marian: Oh, Stuart, look what I did. I was running around Pine Valley in mismatched shoes.
Stuart: Oh, I do that all the time. I brought you something. I decorated it myself. I thought maybe it'd go with that dress of yours. Do you like it?
Marian: Oh, Stuart. You did this, Stuart? It's absolutely beautiful, darling. Thank you so much. I don't know where I'm going to wear it, you know. America's not a big hat country.
Stuart: Wear it in England at the garden party when you meet the Queen.
Marian: We're not going, darling, remember? Scott canceled, and Colby's got an ear infection.
Stuart: Yeah. Adam told me.
Marian: You talked to Adam?
Stuart: Mm-hmm. I told him how disappointed you were, and I even asked him if maybe we could go along anyway. So you'd better keep packing, because we leave this afternoon.
Marian: Oh. Oh, Stuart. Oh, thank you. You dear, sweet, wonderful man. I love you so much. Let me try on your hat and see how it looks. Oh.
Stuart: Oh.
Marian: Oh, it's great! What do you think?
Stuart: Wonderful!
Marian: Watch out, Queen Elizabeth, here we come!

Belinda: So what do we do now, hmm?
Adrian: I have an excellent idea.
Belinda: As partners, right?
Adrian: Well -- yeah --
Belinda: Yeah, how quickly they forget. Come on.
Adrian: Well, they say that traveling is the best way to test a relationship, right?
Belinda: Mm-hmm.
Adrian: And we've been talking about it. So what do you think? Think you can get away?
Belinda: I think I might be able to manage that.
Adrian: Hmm. How soon?
Belinda: Tomorrow's good.
Adrian: Wait a minute. You were planning to take time off and jet out of here, weren't you?
Belinda: It was my last unilateral decision, I promise. So, where do you think we should go, partner? Someplace tropical or someplace tropical?
Adrian: Well, let's go to the travel section for a little inspiration, shall we?
Belinda: Ah. Ooh, ok. Oh, there's that spa in Arona we talked about. It sounds good, huh?
Adrian: Hmm -- no.
Belinda: All right. No, no, ok. Swim with the dolphins in Florida? Sounds good.
Adrian: I'm not sharing you. Ok, how about this spot here, huh? What about that?
Belinda: You got to be kidding me. Uh-uh.
Adrian: Why? I mean -- you know, don't rule it out so quickly. It could be the best way to test our mettle, partner. I'm up for it. Are you?
Belinda: All right. Bring it on.

Brooke: So I don't even know if her source is even for real.
Trevor: Thank you, sweetheart.
Brooke: Mm-hmm.
Trevor: You mean the lady at the shelter?
Brooke: Yes. Thank you, Amanda. And the thing is the magazine actually wrote an article very similar about a month o, and so --
Trevor: Wait a second. What does this have to do with the shelter?
Brooke: Oh. I didn't make the connection for you.

[Telephone rings]

Amanda: I got it.
Brooke: Oh.
Amanda: Hello? I think you're going to want to take this, daddy. It's Monsieur Quelque-Chose.
Trevor: Oh, that's Tim's fiancée's name. Mr. Something.
Salute, Monsieur Quelque-Chose. C'est Trevor Dillon ici. Tim's dad?

{Ryan asleep on the couch dreaming]

Ryan's voice: Hayley? Hayley?
Ryan: Where are you?
Hayley?
Hayley.
Hayley -- Hayley, don't. Don't, don't. Mateo, stop her! Do something!
Mateo: She's the only one who can stop it.
Ryan: No, Hayley, don't! Don't!
Trevor: It's up to you. Mateo can't help her. You can. She trusts you. She needs you. Go to her.
Mateo: Don't get too close. She'll suck you right in. Suck you right in.

[Knock on door]

[Frantic knocking]

Ryan: Hayley?
Hayley: Oh. Thank God you're here.
Ryan: What? Shhhhhh --
