ALL MY CHILDREN

FEBRUARY 12, 2001

Ryan: What are you talking about, Jake? You're full of it.
Jake: Well, it's true. Gillian is pregnant with my baby.
Ryan: No, no, no. No way.
Jake: Well, do the math, Ryan. Gillian and I made love right here on this yacht the night of your party.
Ryan: It happened once.
Jake: Basic biology. Once is all it takes. Especially when you're not using birth control.
Ryan: You know what? I know what this is. Gillian said your divorce is final tomorrow. You're just trying to stall.
Jake: Yeah, well, just forget about this divorce. I am worried about Gillian. She's in total denial with this pregnancy. I tried to get her in to see Dr. Clader for a prenatal, and she refused.
Ryan: Well, that's because her body is none of your business, Jake.
Jake: It's my baby, damn it. You can bet it's my business. This baby deserves the very best start in life, and that includes prenatal care.
Ryan: What do you want from me?
Jake: I want you to have a talk with Gillian. Maybe you can make her see that she has got to take care of our baby.

Erica: Joe. Joe, thank God.
Joe: This the young lady you told me about on the phone?
Erica: Yes, yes. Joe, she's anorexic. We don't know the last time she had anything to eat. She actually passed out on the way here. She can hardly walk.
Joe: All right. Wheelchair. Take her into cube one.

Nurse: What's your name, Honey?
Bianca: Sarah. Her name is Sarah.
Nurse: Miss Sarah, you hop on my chariot here, and we'll go for a ride.
Sarah: I'm scared.
Bianca: It's ok. It's ok. Dr. Joe is the best. He took care of me when I was sick.
Sarah: Don't --
Bianca: Don't what?
Sarah: Don't let them call my mom. Please, don't let them.
Bianca: I won't. I won't, I promise.
Sarah: And don't leave me.
Bianca: I'm not going anywhere, Sarah. I'm going to be right here. I will always be right here. We're going to get through this -- together.

Jack: Your arraignment will be heard by Judge Bailey. We're up in 20 minutes.
Liza: Do you know him, Jack?
Jack: Yeah, he's tough, but he's fair.
Barry: Doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Adam: Meaning?
Barry: You're on his honor's turf, so behave yourself.
Jack: It's very good advice, Adam. I hope you're smart enough to take it.
Adam: Well, no one asked you.
Liza: Adam, Jack is Hayley's lawyer.
Adam: Yes, well, that's a debatable premise. Why can't Barry represent both of us?
Barry: Conflict of interest.
Jack: Plus, you're going to be charged with two different crimes.
Adam: Barry will get the case dropped. They can't convict us. They've never found Arlene's body.

Liza: Hayley, where is Mateo? Hayley: I'm not sure. He told Uncle Stuart he had something to do.
Adam: Oh, wonderful. Your life's in danger, and your husband is off running errands.
Hayley: I'm glad he's not here because seeing me like this would only upset him.
Adam: We'll be out of here in an hour. Tell her, Jack.
Jack: This is a preliminary arraignment. The judge will read the charges against you, and then he'll hear arguments for bail.
Hayley: How often do murderers get bail?
Adam: You're not a murderer. When you're asked for your plea, you will plead not guilty. You did not kill your mother.

Arlene: Oh. Hey, Honey. What happened to that boat I chartered?
Man: It won't return to port for a couple of hours.
Arlene: Can't you radio the captain to go full steam ahead?
Man: Sorry, Ms. Smirnofski. The time has been paid for by a fishing party.
Arlene: Fishing party? I hope I never see another fish again. Hey, what am I worried about? They can't connect me to Vanessa's necklace. I'm sleeping with the fishes.
Bartender: What's funny?
Arlene: Oh, just me lying in an oyster bed with Charlie the tuna. Is that for me?
Bartender: Compliments of the hotel.
Arlene: Free refills? Now I know I died and went to heaven. You know what would go real good with this? A back rub. Get out all those kinks.

Arlene: Oh, yeah, get those magic fingers to work.
Mateo: It's so good to see you, Arlene.

Jake: Gillian won't listen to me. You have got to get her in to see a doctor, Ryan. This baby's health is at stake.
Ryan: This is ridiculous! There is no baby!
Jake: You remember the night you took her into the hospital? She had the fainting spells? I ran tests on her.
Ryan: Yeah. They all came back negative.
Jake: Not all of them.
Ryan: Gillian told me that --
Jake: No, I ran a pregnancy test on her, and it was positive.
Ryan: No, no, she would have said something.
Jake: Well, she's in denial.
Ryan: What?
Jake: Because, Ryan, she's afraid to tell you that she's carrying my child.
Ryan: Why would she be afraid?
Jake: Because a baby connects me and Gillian for life, all right? And that can't thrill you.
Ryan: I don't believe this.
Jake: I'm sorry you feel that way, but you cannot deny the symptoms. She's having fainting spells. She has fatigue, morning sickness. She has got to get in to see a doctor as soon as possible. I'm telling you, man, it's for her sake and the baby's.
Ryan: Where is she?
Jake: I don't know where she is.
Ryan: Don't be here when I get back.

Bianca: I remember when I first met Sarah. She was -- she was sitting on her bed and I was unpacking, and she was just staring at the ground. I tried talking to her, but it was like she couldn't hear me, like she was somewhere I couldn't reach. It scared me. I wanted to find some kind of way to bring her back, but I didn't know how. And in my heart, I made a promise that I would make her life better. But I didn't know how to keep it. Then I -- I went for a walk one day and I found this flower on the ground, just a little bud about to bloom. And it was -- it was still cold out at night and I was afraid it was going to die, so I dug it up and I put it in a cup with some dirt and I gave it to Sarah. And she looked up at me and gave me the most radiant smile. It was as though I had given her a sunrise. Later on, she told me that when I gave her that flower, I saved her life. But what she didn't know was that when she looked up at me and smiled, she saved me. They have to save her, mom. They have to make her well because if she dies, I'll die, too.
Erica: Honey.

Arlene: Small world, isn't it? So, how did you find me?
Mateo: Greed. Greed. It always trips you up, Arlene. Or is it Katarin?
Arlene: Like my alias?
Mateo: You picked a top-shelf vodka. Brilliant.
Arlene: Well, that's me -- first class all the way.
Mateo: You know, selling that stolen necklace on the internet wasn't so smart, though.
Arlene: Ok, now you found me. Now what do you want?
Mateo: You're looking good, Arlene. Death becomes you.
Arlene: Don't be ridiculous. My daughter and my husband almost killed me.
Mateo: She was drugged, and she walked in and saw you on top of me.
Arlene: Yeah. Yeah, I heard about that drug -- Libidozone. Releases one's innermost desires. What about you, Mateo? You seemed to want me pretty bad.
Mateo: Like a hole in the head, Arlene.
Arlene: Mm-hmm.
Mateo: Now, tell me what happened that night of the party.
Arlene: What, you mean after Hayley left me for dead and I was pushed over the side by Adam like some piece of -- all right. Suffice it to say that once I hit the drink, the water revived me. And thank goodness a very nice gentleman in his private yacht rescued me. He dried me off, and I expressed my gratitude.
Mateo: I'll bet.
Arlene: Anyway, I told Jasper about how my family had turned on me like a pack of rabid dogs, and he -- he took pity on me. And we've been sailing around the Caribbean for the past few months.
Mateo: And as soon as he got tired of your boozing, he dumped you.
Arlene: He had important business back in the states.
Mateo: He left you for broke, so you had to sell the stolen necklace on the internet for big bucks. Yeah?
Arlene: Gee, it's nice catching up with you, but I've got to go.
Mateo: You haven't even asked me about Hayley.
Arlene: How is she?
Mateo: How do you think she is? You're down here in the Caribbean living it up while she's in hell.
Arlene: What, you want me to take pity on her? She almost killed me, Mateo.
Mateo: She -- she thinks she succeeded. The guilt's been eating her up. It got so bad, your daughter had a nervous breakdown. She became you in some twisted way of keeping you alive.
Arlene: She -- she became me?
Mateo: Yes. She couldn't live with herself. But that's all over now. Now your daughter -- she wants to tell the cops what she did. She wants to confess. She wants to pay for what she did to you. Now, her whole life -- her sobriety, her future, everything -- it's up to you.
Arlene: This whole time, I've been thinking that she'd be dancing on my grave and glad that I was dead. And to think that she felt sorry, I -- maybe she does love me.
Mateo: Ok.
Arlene: Wait. What --
Mateo: Time to do the right thing.
Arlene: Wait. Who are you calling?
Mateo: I'm calling your daughter.
Arlene: No! No, no, you can't do that. She's going to call the police, and they're going to connect the necklace to me. You can't do that.
Mateo: Focus. Focus, Arlene. Focus on your daughter.
Arlene: No.
Mateo: Here you go. Sit down right there.
Arlene: Mateo --
Mateo: Because she's got to know that you're not dead. Stuart. Hi. It's Mateo. How are you? Great. Listen, I've got some great news. Great news, but I want to break it to Hayley first. What? She's where?

Hayley: Dad, will you please chill out?
Adam: You have a death wish, darling. You keep this up, you're going to be facing murder charges.
Jack: Ok, ok, could we please just take this down a level, Adam, please?
Liza: I think you're making things worse.
Adam: My God. My daughter and I are facing murder charges and the possibility of death by injection. How much worse could it get?
Liza: Could I just have him for a minute?

Adam: What? What?
Liza: I am just as frightened as you are, but Jack is a former DA. He knows how to handle these courts. Let him handle Hayley.
Adam: Yeah, well, he's doing a bang-up job so far. She thinks she's -- she thinks she's Joan of Arc, and you know what happened to her. I'm not going to sacrifice my daughter to atone for Arlene's death.
Liza: Do you understand this is not in your hands? It's out of your hands.
Adam: My name still carries some clout.
Liza: Now is not the time for you to go throwing your weight around.

[Telephone rings]

Liza listen to Barry. Please. Hello.
Mateo: Liza, it's Mateo. Listen, where are you?
Liza: At the courthouse.
Mateo: Ok, is Hayley there?
Liza: Yes, she's right here.
Mateo: Can I speak to her?

Liza: It's Mateo.
Hayley: Oh, thank you.

Hayley: Hello.
Mateo: Yes, hey.
Hayley: Hi. Oh, Mateo, please don't be mad at me.
Mateo: Baby, listen, it's ok. I'm not mad.
Hayley: I'm in really big trouble.
Mateo: No, you're not. Actually, you're -- you're home free. I found Arlene.
Hayley: What?
Mateo: Yep. Your mom's alive. You didn't kill her after all.

Gillian: How did you know I was here?
Ryan: I ran into Jake at the yacht. He said you had an argument. And I couldn't find you, so I just -- I thought you might be here.
Gillian: Did he tell you what we were arguing about?
Ryan: You're going to have a baby.

Erica: Sweetheart, she's going to make it. She beat this once before. She's going to beat it again.
Bianca: How do you know?
Erica: Because you gave her the courage to fight. You look at her. Look at her now.

Joe: Sarah, I want you to squeeze my finger as hard as you can, ok? First with your left hand. Squeeze. Good. Good. Now your right hand. Very good. Very good. How's the blood pressure?
Nurse: 120/80.
Joe: Perfect.
Nurse: Heartbeat's strong and steady, Dr. Joe.
Joe: Good. Means the electrolytes are doing their job. You still feeling lightheaded?
Sarah: Just ashamed.
Joe: Oh, come on, none of that. None of that.

Bianca: Thank you, Mom.
Erica: I didn't do anything.
Bianca: Yes, you did. You did. When you found Sarah and I and I asked you to help us, you didn't -- you didn't ask questions and you didn't get mad. You just -- you treated her the way you treat me when I'm sick or in trouble. You were amazing.
Erica: I just wanted to help you any way I could, Honey.
Bianca: I should have told you about Sarah.
Erica: Well, you didn't because you didn't know that you can trust me.
Bianca: I was wrong. I was so wrong.

Bianca: Sarah's mother. What's she doing here?
Erica: I called her.

Hayley: Mateo, I love you, but please, Honey, please don't try to stop me from doing the right thing, ok? We both know Arlene is dead, and pretending she's alive only makes this harder for me.
Mateo: Hayley, this isn't a joke, ok? I'm standing here with your mom. She's alive. I'll put her on the phone with you, ok? One second. Talk to your daughter and be nice. Check, please.

[Arlene hits Mateo in the head with the phone and hangs up]

Liza: Hayley?
Adam: What did Mateo have to say to you?
Hayley: He's trying to convince me that Arlene is alive. He's so desperate to talk me out of this, you know. Liza: Well, don't be too hard on him.
Hayley: I'm not, I'm not. I love him for what he's trying to do, but I didn't believe the story and apparently neither did he, since he hung up on me.
Liza: Oh, I'm sorry.
Hayley: I'm sorry. It's your future, too. You don't know how many times I wish I could go back and take that night away.
Barry: Adam, Judge Bailey will give you five minutes before the hearing.
Adam: Five minutes is all I need. Have faith, my darling.

Jack: Hayley, can I speak to you for a second, please?
Hayley: Dad, no matter what happens in there, just know I'm doing this because I love you.
Adam: Now you're beginning to sound like me. I'll see you inside.

Liza: Please, don't go in there and do something you're going to regret.
Adam: The only thing I regret is not having you in my life and loving you years ago.

Barry: Your honor, this is my client, Adam Chandler.
Adam: Judge bailey, I appreciate your giving me this private moment.
Judge: State your business, Mr. Chandler.
Adam: I knew a Judge Bailey in West Virginia. Any relation?
Judge: Not that I'm aware of.
Adam: Ah, yes. He was a fine man. Didn't suffer fools gladly.
Judge: Your point, Mr. Chandler?
Adam: Yes, of course. I was being sued by some disgruntled factory workers. The case had no merit. Judge Bailey threw it right out of court. He's now sitting on the state's federal bench thanks in no small part to my petitioning on his behalf.
Judge: Mr. Chandler, are you aware of the penalty for attempting to bribe a member of the court?
Adam: Your honor, you completely misunderstand my intentions.
Judge: No, I understand perfectly. Bailiff, will you usher Mr. Montgomery and his client inside, please? Mr. Chandler, that's probably an expensive suit you're wearing. I'm sure the pockets are lined with judges and civil servants. But I'm here to inform you that I can't be bought.
Adam: Your honor, I would never presume --
Judge: Save your breath and your bribes. I have no intentions of dropping the charges against you, even if I forfeit a seat on the supreme court.

Jack: Tell me you didn't try to bribe this judge.
Adam: It wasn't a bribe, damn it.

Judge: Mr. Shire, stifle your client, or I'll hold him in contempt.
Barry: Yes, your honor. I'll do my best. Adam.

Judge: Calling this hearing to order. Mr. Garnett, you have a copy of the charges? Thank you. Ms. Santos, Mr. Chandler, would you and your counsel please approach the bench? Ms. Santos, Mr. Chandler, you are charged in the murder of Arlene Vaughan Chandler. The charges specifically are as follows -- one count of aggravated assault, which is a first-degree felony, maximum sentence 20 years. One count of involuntary manslaughter, first-degree misdemeanor, maximum sentence five years. One count of voluntary manslaughter, second-degree felony, maximum sentence 10 years. One count of third-degree murder, which is a first-degree felony, maximum sentence 30 years. And one count of first-degree murder with a maximum life imprisonment or death by lethal injection.
Adam: No! I won't allow this. Charge me, not her.
Barry: Adam.
Adam: I'm the one who should be punished. I'm the one who's guilty!

Joe: Mrs. Livingston, I understand your daughter's been battling anorexia.
Mrs. Livingston: Nonsense. She's a newlywed, Dr. Martin. She went on some crazy crash diet to fit into her wedding gown.
Joe: Well, she is suffering from dehydration, exhaustion, and, I think, probably depression.
Mrs. Livingston: That's ridiculous. Sarah has nothing to be depressed about. She has a husband who adores her, her whole life ahead.

Bianca: Dr. Martin, how is Sarah? Is she going to be all right?
Joe: I'm going to keep her here a couple of days. I expect her to make a complete recovery.
Bianca: You're not going to put her on a feeding tube or anything?
Joe: That depends on Sarah.
Mrs. Livingston: I'd like to see her.
Joe: Yes, of course. It's right through there. Mrs. Livingston, this hospital runs a workshop for parents of children with eating disorders. I can put you in touch with the director
. Mrs. Livingston: That won't be necessary.
Joe: Well, I will be in my office later on if you'd like to talk in private.

Bianca: Mrs. Livingston, I don't think that Sarah is ready to see you yet.
Mrs. Livingston: Haven't you caused enough trouble, young lady?
Bianca: I know what she needs.
Mrs. Livingston: So do I, and I'm here to see that she gets it.

Erica: No, Bianca -- Bianca, don't. Don't.
Bianca: Mother, how could you do this? I promised Sarah that we wouldn't call her mom.
Erica: Her daughter is sick, Honey. I had to call her.
Bianca: She doesn't want her here, Mom. She doesn't need her, she needs me.
Erica: Bianca, her mother has a right to be here, and maybe she can help her get through this.
Bianca: Oh, stop it, Mom. Stop acting. You don't care about Sarah. You just wanted her mother to come and take her away from me.
Erica: Bianca, that's not true.
Bianca: I was wrong about you, Mom. I was wrong to have ever trusted you.

Ryan: Want to talk about it?
Gillian: When I found out I was pregnant, I should have told you right away. I don't know why I didn't.
Ryan: Jake said that you were -- that you were afraid.
Gillian: I want this baby to be yours.
Ryan: Maybe it is.
Gillian: How can it be, Ryan? We always use protection.
Ryan: I know that, but it's not guaranteed. Nothing's for sure, you know that. Jake also said that you haven't been to the doctor yet. Why not?
Gillian: Because getting checked out and seeing this child on a sonogram and finding out its birthday -- I'm just -- I'm not ready. And I -- you know, I tried to do what was best for everybody, and in the end, I just hurt everybody.
Ryan: Our love has made us stronger, Gillian.
Gillian: I want to -- I want to plan our wedding. I don't want to buy baby clothes. Especially when this child is not yours.
Ryan: We're going to have our wedding. We're going to have our life together.
Gillian: With you and Jake both coaching me when this child is born? Whose name is it going to have? Who's going to hold it first? Who's it going to call Daddy? I just -- now it's you and me and Jake with this innocent child caught right in the middle, and it's all my fault because of one stupid mistake I made.

Judge: Mr. Shire --
Barry: Your honor?
Judge: Control your client, or I'll hold you both in contempt.
Barry: Yes, I'll try, your honor, and I'm very sorry. Adam, Adam, Adam -- what is wrong with you?
Adam: Did you hear that list of charges? Hayley doesn't stand a chance.
Barry: But you're not helping. Now, sit down, shut up, and let us do our job.

Jack: I can't believe your father tried to bribe this judge.
Hayley: That's his way of showing he cares.
Jack: Well, he could hurt your case.
Hayley: Jack, don't worry about my case.
Jack: Don't worry about your case?
Hayley: I know what I'm doing.

Judge: Mr. Shire, with your client's permission, we will resume.
Barry: Yes, your honor.
Judge: Mr. Garnett, do you have recommendations for bail regarding the accused? The assistant district attorney advises, and I concur, that due to Mr. Chandler's attempt to coerce judgment in this proceeding that he and his daughter are considered a flight risk, therefore bail is denied. The accused will be remanded to the city jail where they will remain pending trial.
Adam: I object!
Barry: Adam!
Adam: I object!
Barry: Sit down!
Adam: My daughter voluntarily surrendered herself to the police. She's not about to leave town. I give you my word for that.
Judge: Mr. Chandler, your word has little meaning in my court.
Adam: Then this court is an ass and so are you!
Barry: Adam --
judge: Mr. Chandler, I find you in contempt and fine you $10,000. Would you like to go for 20,000?

Hayley: Your honor, may I say something, please?
Judge: You should take a lesson from your daughter. At least she said "please." Be brief.
Hayley: I don't want a trial.
Adam: Neither do I, Darling, but they're not giving us --
Hayley: Dad, please, I know what I'm doing. Your honor, my family has already been through hell because of me. I don't want to subject them to a prolonged jury trial and all the publicity that goes with that, so I would like to waive my rights to a jury trial and plead guilty and accept my punishment.
Adam: No. No! I won't allow that!
Barry: Will you sit down?
Adam: I will not allow it!
Judge: Order! Order!

Ryan: None of this is your fault, Gillian. You were trapped between Jake and me, and neither one of us made your life any easier.
Gillian: I should have listened to my heart.
Ryan: What are you talking about? We all could have done a million things differently. We can't cry about it now. There's a baby on the way. We have to figure out a way to make that child feel welcome in this world.
Gillian: I love you so much. You know, once this child is born, Jake is going to make our lives -- it's going to get very complicated.
Ryan: You don't believe that it could be yours and mine?
Gillian: The only way to find out is to do a paternity test. That's what Jake would want.
Ryan: Well, then we'll just have to wait until the child is born and take it from there.
Gillian: It's not going to be that simple. Jake's going to fight for this child. He's going to fight for it for all he's worth. He already lost me. He lost Colby. He's not going to want to lose this child.
Ryan: That's great. That's great. So this child will come into the world kicking and screaming and be caught in the middle of a war zone. Well, then we can fight back and we can -- I don't know. We can get married before the child is born so at least it will have my name. What do you say? What do you say, Princess? Your divorce is final tomorrow. We can go to Elk Green and get married this weekend.
Gillian: Jake is -- Jake threatened to stop this divorce. He wants legal rights as the father. Ryan, this whole pregnancy caught me by surprise, but that doesn't mean that I don't want it. I want to have this child. I'm just -- I'm just tired of fighting.
Ryan: Well, then we don't have to fight. I have the answer to all our problems, Gillian.

Mrs. Livingston: Sarah, the doctor says you're going to be just fine. And aren't you ashamed of yourself for giving us such a fright? Well, never mind. Ian will be here soon to pick you up.
Sarah: Ian -- I can't see him.
Mrs. Livingston: Why not? He's your husband. I phoned him as soon as I got the call from Ms. Kane. And don't you just bet she's loving this.
Sarah: She was actually very nice.
Mrs. Livingston: She's irrelevant. Your life is back in Boston with Ian. The poor boy's been worried sick since you took off.
Sarah: Mother, I can't go back to Ian. I can't be his wife. I tried. It just -- it won't work.
Mrs. Livingston: That's just a new bride's jitters. I was the same way with your father. I didn't want him to come near me on the honeymoon. After it was all over, I wondered what all the fuss was about. It was all over so quickly. Well, it was good enough for me.
Sarah: I don't want your life. I don't want Ian.
Mrs. Livingston: What is wrong with Ian? He's a perfect lamb.
Sarah: Nothing is wrong with him. We're just not right for each other. I can't be happy with him.
Mrs. Livingston: You can. You can if you force yourself.
Sarah: No. I'm tired of trying to live up to other people's expectations. I'm tired of living a lie. Look at me, Mother. Look how sick I am of the life that I have.
Mrs. Livingston: Ian will know just what to do to make you feel better. Do you remember your 10th birthday party when you broke the piñata? You cried for the papier-mâché donkey, wouldn't come out of your room? Ian knew just what to do to cheer you up.
Sarah: Mother, I am not 10 years old anymore, and I don't need cheering up. I need a life of my own. I need for you to understand who I am. I can't love Ian, not the way that you mean, because I'm gay.

Adam: Jack, are you just going to sit there while Hayley hangs herself? Object or make a motion or something.
Jack: You're doing fine by yourself.
Adam: Your honor, you can't listen to my daughter. She's too stressed to know what she's saying. She's delusional.
Hayley: Your honor, I am in my right mind, and I know exactly what I'm saying.
Adam: Hayley, don't say anything that will incriminate yourself.
Hayley: Dad --
Adam: I'm begging you, Sweetheart.
Hayley: Dad, it's ok. Please let me do this.
Jack: Hayley, if you'll just listen to me for a second. My advice would be to not do this.
Hayley: Jackson, thank you for your help, but I'm on my own now. Your honor, please go easy on my dad. If he's guilty of anything, it's loving me too much, but he committed no crime. He did not kill my mother, I did.
Adam: Hayley, please.
Hayley: Dad, you don't have to clean up my mess anymore. Your honor, with all due respect, I am asking that you release my father and let me plead guilty to the murder of Arlene Chandler.
Judge: Ms. Santos, both you and your father will have your day in court. I've set the pretrial hearing for the day after tomorrow. Mr. Montgomery, your client can enter a guilty plea and waive her right to a trial at that time.
Jack: Yes, judge.

Judge: Do I smell smoke?
Bailiff: Your honor, there's a fire!
Judge: Get a fire extinguisher!
Adam: They'll have to do that pretrial hearing without us. Come on.

Gillian: Ryan, do you have a plan? What are we going to do about Jake?
Ryan: Nothing.
Gillian: Nothing?
Ryan: We're going to pack our bags and kiss Pine Valley good-bye.
Gillian: You mean we're going to run away?
Ryan: Name it, Gillian, anywhere you want to go, and we can start over, just you and me and the baby. All you've got to do is say yes.

Mrs. Livingston: Sarah, you're delirious. You don't know what you're saying.
Sarah: No, I'm not. I know exactly what I'm saying. I know who I am, and I've known for a long time. I'm gay.
Mrs. Livingston: Oh, stop it. I won't hear such perverted filth.
Sarah: Mother, please. Accept me for who I am. Love me for who I am.
Mrs. Livingston: Have you lost all sense of propriety? Sarah, what am I supposed to tell your husband?
Sarah: I think Ian already knows. Or he's guessed most of it. I hate that I've hurt him, but I can't go back and live with him. If I go back, it'll kill me, Mom, and I don't want to die. Please just help me. Love me.
Mrs. Livingston: How can you do this to me? How?

Erica: Excuse me. Just where do you think you're going?
Mrs. Livingston: Back home.
Erica: Without your daughter? You can't leave your daughter. Sarah needs you. She almost died.
Mrs. Livingston: As far as I'm concerned, she is dead.
Erica: How could you say that? Somehow you may be able to turn your back on your daughter, but you will not walk away from me -- not until I am finished with you.

Adam: Just follow my lead. The car's right out front.
Hayley: What are you doing?
Adam: I'm getting us the hell out of here.
Hayley: Are you nuts? Bailiff: Hey, you two, stop!
Hayley: Let me go! Dad!

[Hayley and Adam gasp as they run into Arlene and Mateo]

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHLDREN

Hayley: You let me think you were dead all this time? How could you do that?

Bianca: I need to ask you a favor, Mom.

Leslie: If anyone is going to go down for this, it's going to be you.

Tad: Dixie, Sweetheart, can't we work this out?
