ALL MY CHILDREN

FEBRUARY 22, 2001

Mateo: I'm just saying is that you throw a rock these days, you'll hit a psychic. They're everywhere.
Hayley: Yes, but the one we booked on our show --
Mateo: Uh-huh --
Hayley: Was legit.
Mateo: Oh. Yeah, right. I bet you her business doubles now that she's on your show.
Hayley: You just don't want to admit it, do you?
Mateo: Admit what?
Hayley: The fact that maybe she's right.
Mateo: Do you think she is? I mean, you said you had a feeling you were pregnant.
Hayley: I've been hoping and praying. You know, I want a baby more than anything. I mean, what if I've just tricked myself into believing that I'm pregnant? You know, people do that. People have these hysterical pregnancies.
Mateo: You want to know for sure?
Hayley: Where did you get that?
Mateo: Snagged it while you were in the checkout line. What do you say?

Tad: Hi, Adam. It's me. I just want you to know that I've got J.R. here at the house and he's fine.
Adam: Who the hell is J.R.?
Tad: It's short for Junior. I'm sure he'll tell you about it later.
Adam: Oh, thank God. Is he -- is he hurt?
Tad: No.
Adam: Do they have Leslie Coulson?
Tad: The cops haven't found her yet. As a matter of fact, I think she may have Dixie someplace.
Adam: What? How did that happen?
Tad: Adam, don't start with me, please.
Adam: You got yourself a mistress and you can't control her. That is so typical.
Tad: Why don't you just shut up and listen. Leslie set me up, ok? She let me rescue Junior just so she could get to Dixie.
Adam: And you couldn't see that coming, right?
Tad: If I did, would it make any difference? I'd still have to find Junior.
Adam: Well, find Dixie. If anything happens to her, my son will be traumatized for life. And keep me posted. And try to keep your pants on.

Adam: Think. One crisis narrowly averted. Several more to go. This -- damn this house arrest. I have to get out of here. I bet I can be halfway there before they even sic the dogs on me.
Officer: Going somewhere?
Adam: Ahem.

Tad: You don't remember anything Hayward said before he took off?
Officer: He didn't say anything. He just bolted.
Tad: Damn it.
J.R.: Do you think he went to go find Mom?
Tad: He had to. That's the only reason he would've taken off. Did he have his cell phone with him?
Officer: I'm afraid I didn't notice. Excuse me.

Tad: Listen, your mother keeps every phone number under the sun around here someplace.

Dixie: I am sick of trying to reason with you, Leslie. Now, you tell me where my son is or I swear I will push you over.

[Dixie screams]

Leslie: Finally getting some use out of this mace. That's it. You're going over.

[Telephone rings]

[Dixie screams]

David: Dixie!

[Dixie screams]

[ring]

David: Hold on, Sweetheart! Hold on!
Dixie: Oh!
David: Leslie, please, you don't know what you're doing! Leslie, come on!
Dixie: Oh, Leslie! Don't, please!
Leslie: Let go! Let go.
Dixie: David, help me!
Leslie: That's not going to happen. I said stay back! There's nothing you can do!

[Ring]

J.R.: Why isn't Hayward answering his phone?
Tad: I don't know. So we're just going to let it ring.

[Ring]

[Dixie screams]

David: Leslie!
Dixie: Help me!
David: You don't know what you're doing, Leslie. Come on, you don't want to do this! You don't want to go down for murder!
Leslie: What murder?

[Ring]

Leslie: What's about to happen here is a very tragic accident.
Dixie: Help me!

[Telephone rings]

David: Stop!
Dixie: David!
David: Oh!
Dixie: David!
Leslie: I said get back. I hate heroes. Except for Tad.

[Ring]

Leslie: Did he ever tell you how we went to high school together and how he was so nice to me when everyone else treated me like dirt.

[Ring]

David: Leslie, it's the phone -- my phone. It's Tad.
Leslie: You're so full of it!
David: No, no, he said that he was going to call to see if I found Dixie.
Leslie: Look, I swear, I will spray this mace in her face and she will fall off the ledge.
Dixie: No!
David: I'm just getting my phone. That's all, that's all.
Leslie: I guess I missed my chance.
David: Leslie. Leslie, think about this. How do you expect Tad to be with you if you kill his wife? You know that's not going to work.
Leslie: I don't know anything anymore.
David: Well, you love him, don't you? Don't you want this to work out? Please, please, let me call him back.

J.R.: What's Leslie's problem? I mean, you're the one she's mad at. Why is she going to hurt my mom?
Tad: We don't know that she's going to hurt your mom. I'm hoping maybe she just wants to talk to her.
J.R.: About you?
Tad: Yeah, about me.
J.R.: But who knows what she'll do, Tad? She's totally whacked. When she kidnapped me, all she talked about was how hard it was to be the other woman.
Tad: Unbelievable.

[Telephone rings]

Tad: Yeah. Hello.
David: Tad, it's David.
Tad: David, where the hell are you?
David: Just listen to me.
J.R.: Did he find my mom?
Tad: No, you listen to me. Did you find Dixie?
David: Yes.
Dixie: Does he have Junior?
Tad: I can hear her. Listen, tell Dixie that he's here and he's safe.
David: Yeah. Junior's with Tad. He's ok.
Tad: You sound like you're in the middle of the street. What's going on?
David: Tad, listen to me. We've got a problem here, ok? You need to speak with Leslie right away.
Tad: Why?
David: Because you've got to tell her how much you care for her and you also have to let it be known to her that you could never be with her if she lets Dixie die.
Tad: What?
Leslie: Don't put words in his mouth.
David: I just want him to know what's at stake for all of us, ok? Especially you.
Leslie: Just -- just turn up the volume so that I can hear him.
David: Ok. All right, Tad, go ahead. Tad, go ahead. Speak as loudly as you can.

Tad: Hello, Leslie? Leslie, this is Tad. Look, I have no idea what's going on there, but I -- I care about you. You have to know that. I always have. Ever since high school. If you need help, I'll give it to you. Anything you want.

David: You see, Leslie, he does care for you. Come on, let me give you the phone.
Tad: Hello?
David: Go ahead, take it.
Tad: Leslie, are you there?
Leslie: Give it to me

Derek: What have we here? Did you need something, Adam?
Adam: Ahem. No, you can call off your attack dog, Lieutenant.
Derek: Stand down, Officer. I don't think we're going to have to use force on Mr. Chandler.
Adam: You'd think I was public enemy number one.
Derek: Look, Adam, if you're upset about Junior, you can relax. They were telling me that Tad's found him.
Adam: No, I already got notice on that, thank you.
Derek: Then why are you trying to leave the house?
Liza: Oh, did I hear the operative word -- "leave"? Were you really trying to escape?
Adam: Escape from my own house. Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds?
Derek: Hi, Liza. I was just telling Adam that Junior's been found. He's fine.
Liza: Well, that's great!
Derek: Yes. Now, Adam, understand something. You are under house arrest.
Adam: Yes.
Derek: That ankle cuff you are wearing will set off alarms from here to Center City if you go six feet out that door.
Liza: And tell him what's going to happen if he gets caught.
Derek: We lock you up, we throw away the key, and they'll probably tack on additional charges for attempted flight.
Liza: Are you listening?
Adam: I'm all ears.
Liza: Barry has worked very hard to get you released.
Adam: That's what I pay Barry for.
Sweetheart, would you give me just a moment alone with -- I have something I need to discuss with Derek.
Liza: Yeah, I do mind leaving you alone. I don't think Derek is going to take any bribes.
Adam: Liza!
Liza: Forget it. I'm not going to let you screw this up.
Derek: Which is why Officer. Baird will be right outside. And I have to warn you, Adam, he's been briefed on all the little tricks that you might try. He won't listen to you, he doesn't trust you, and he probably doesn't even like you.
Adam: And he'll be checking parking meters for the rest of his life if he helps me escape.
Derek: That's right.
Adam: Yeah.
Derek: Liza, Adam, I'll be in touch.
Adam: Thanks for the warning.

Liza: So the judge wants to throw the book at you and you want to escape. How far did you get?
Adam: Almost to the front steps.
Liza: Hmm.
Adam: My escape attempt has left me famished. Think maybe we could round up a sandwich or something?
Liza: I'll see if there's anything in the fridge. Oh.

Adam: Stuart. Stuart, it's me. Look, can you come up here right away? I'll tell you when you get here. And, Stuart, there's a cop right outside the front door, so use the tunnels and don't let anyone see you.- especially not Liza. Yeah.

Hayley: Is it time yet?
Mateo: Not yet.
Hayley: How much longer?
Mateo: Not much.
Hayley: You know, maybe we should just throw it away before we get disappointed.
Mateo: Who said we're going to be disappointed?
Hayley: The way I see it is we'll figure out sooner or later --
Mateo: Mm-hmm.
Hayley: Whether it's positive or negative, so we might as well just wait and see if I start throwing up in the mornings.
Mateo: Are you sure?
Hayley: Yes.
Mateo: Ok.
Hayley: I'm sure.
Mateo: I'll throw it away.
Hayley: But don't look at it.
Mateo: I'm not going to look at it. Now, listen --
Hayley: What?
Mateo: You can change your mind still.
Hayley: Right.
Mateo: All right?
Hayley: Do you see anything?
Mateo: I haven't looked at it, no.
Hayley: Is there not a positive or a negative?
Mateo: I'm not looking. I'm going to the garbage can, and I'm going to throw it away.
Hayley: Well, wait, wait --
Mateo: Going once --
Hayley: No, no, no, no, wait. How much longer?
Mateo: About six minutes.
Hayley: What? Six minutes? What kind of a pregnancy test is that?
Mateo: I know it seems like a lifetime. Let's throw this thing away.
Hayley: No, wait, wait, wait.
Mateo: What?
Hayley: I can wait six minutes.
Mateo: Are you sure?
Hayley: No. Yes. I am.
Mateo: Ok. Well, you know what? I can't. I can't wait. I don't want to wait. You know, forget about you. I'm the one who can't take all the pressure. I'm throwing it away.
Hayley: No, no, no. Wait, wait! Don't you dare. Stop, stop. I mean, stop. We can, you know, find out, and then we'll be -- we'll be happier.
Mateo: Right.
Hayley: You know, instead of later if we find out that it's positive now.
Mateo: Ok.
Hayley: Don't -- don't throw it away.
Mateo: So you want to look at it?
Hayley: I -- yes. How much longer? Five?
Mateo: Yeah, about five minutes.
Hayley: Five minutes.
Mateo: Mm-hmm. Can you wait?
Hayley: I can wait five minutes.
Mateo: Yeah, you can wait?
Hayley: Yeah.
Mateo: I'm lying. It's ready.
Hayley: What -- what?
Mateo: It's ready.
Hayley: What do you mean?
Mateo: I told you six minutes -- it only takes a minute -- because I know how impatient you are and you probably -- it was going to drive you crazy. That's why I told you longer. We can look.
Hayley: We can look?
Mateo: We can look. Are you sure you want to look?
Hayley: Yes.
Mateo: Yes?
Hayley: Yes.
Mateo: Ok, now, listen to me, listen to me. Now, if it's not -- if it says no, we'll just try again. I don't want you to be disappointed, ok?
Hayley: Trying again is all the fun.
Mateo: Yes, it is. Ok.
Hayley: Oh, God, ok.
Mateo: So you want to look at it, right?
Hayley: Yeah, show me.
Mateo: Ok, here it comes.
Hayley: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Don't show me.
Mateo: You're killing me.
Hayley: No, show me, show --
Mateo: Show you?
Hayley: Show me.
Mateo: Yes?
Hayley: Show me.
Mateo: Listen, honey, you know, these things, sometimes they're not very accurate, so --
Hayley: We are.
Mateo: We are?
Hayley: We are. We're pregnant.
Mateo: Oh, God.

[Tad hangs up]

J.R.: What happened?
Tad: Line went dead.
J.R.: What? Why?
Tad: I don't know. Maybe he dropped it or the phone lost the signal --
J.R.: Or they're doing something to her. Tad, please, you look just as scared as I am.
Tad: All right, I admit it. I'm concerned, ok? I just don't think we should start panicking right now.
J.R.: And what was all that talking to Leslie about how much you cared about her?
Tad: Because there's something going on. David let me know that's what she wants to hear.
J.R.: Who cares what she wants to hear! I hate her, Tad!
Tad: I know you do, Junior.
J.R.: Stop calling me that!
Tad: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
J.R.: This is all your fault.
Tad: J.R., Please -- hey, J.R., Come on.
J.R.: Get away --
Tad: Wait a minute, wait -- wait a minute! Come here, come here.
J.R.: Get off of me! I hate you!
Tad: It's all right.
J.R.: I hate you, Tad! I hate all of this! This is all your fault! You trashed this family! You trashed it!
Tad: I know, I know. Take it easy. It's ok. It's ok. It's all right.

Leslie: You idiot. Tad was on the phone!
Dixie: I can't -- I can't -- I can't breathe! I -- I -- I -- I -- I can't see.
David: Leslie sprayed you with mace, Honey. It's ok. It's ok. It's causing your breathing problems. But you have to try to calm yourself.

[Dixie hyperventilates]

David: Junior is ok.
Dixie: Junior -- Junior -- David: Yes, Junior is fine. He's home with Tad. He's ok. All right, now, you're hyperventilating. Listen, Dixie, I want you to breathe into this, ok? It'll prevent you from passing out. Here. Go ahead. It's ok, it's ok. It's all right.
Dixie: David, I can't see my --
David: I know, Sweetheart --
Dixie: I think somebody's behind you!
David: Leslie, put down the knife!
Dixie: David -- David, what's happening?
David: Dixie, no, don't try to move. Just stay where you are!
Dixie: David? David! David, what's happening? David?

David: Leslie --
Leslie: You had your chance and you blew it, David. I'm going to destroy your life, your reputation, your career -- everything that means anything to you.
David: It won't, Leslie, because you're finished. Your credibility is shot.
Leslie: Well, yours is next. How long do you think it's going to last with Dixie, anyway, once she learns the truth?
David: Shut up!
Dixie: David?
Leslie: Don't you see? I'm not going to be the one who kills Dixie. She's going to die soon enough after you break her pathetic little heart!
David: You've gone far enough, Leslie.

Mateo: Oh, we're pregnant, we're pregnant, we're pregnant.
Hayley: Let me see it again.
Mateo: It's real. What do you mean you have to see? Look, two lines -- pregnant, pregnant. It's -- it's all there. It's positive.
Hayley: I know.
Mateo: What are you thinking?
Hayley: Just -- I'm just thinking about I never wanted anything more in my whole life.
Mateo: Are you scared?
Hayley: I'm just thinking about when and -- you know, it had to happen a few weeks ago, after the Libidozone and --
Mateo: You're worried about the baby.
Hayley: I mean, what if when I was carrying on and acting like my mother, what if maybe I did something?
Mateo: You didn't.
Hayley: Well, how do you know?
Mateo: Well, remember what you told me? You told me that you felt like maybe you were pregnant before, right? Remember that? You told me that?
Hayley: I know, I know, but --
Mateo: And you had these feelings?
Hayley: Yes, but I was suppressing a lot of feelings then.
Mateo: I know, but you -- there's no way you could have hid those feelings. I mean, they were still there, right? They were still there, and there's no way you would've done anything like your mother, ok? You didn't drink. You didn't take a whole barroom of guys home or anything like that, did you? You didn't, right?
Hayley: How do you know?
Mateo: I know -- because I know you. And I know that you would never do anything to jeopardize our child. Never, no matter what.
Hayley: Thank you.

Adam: Have you finished the financials on Chandler Enterprises' fourth quarter?
Liza: Yeah, they're pretty much done. Why?
Adam: Oh. Just curious. Then they're complete?
Liza: Well, there's some divisions that have sent over some numbers I haven't seen. Why?
Adam: Nothing.
Liza: You don't trust me?
Adam: I never said that.
Liza: Hmm. You sound like you're implying it. Adam: Well, I'd just assumed all the numbers were in, that's all.
Liza: We will have the report finished and to the SEC. By the end of the week.
Adam: So Wall Street's working on projections right now.
Liza: Yes, but they know that Chandler Enterprises is doing quite well.
Adam: Even after the Col-Mar disaster?
Liza: Adam, stop it.
Adam: The company is just -- it's under scrutiny right now. And I hate to see repercussions just because we've got a fourth-quarter report that was late.
Liza: Hmm. What kind of repercussions?
Adam: Well, stock prices could fall. They could downgrade our rating. That sort of thing.
Liza: Well, you think they'd do that?
Adam: It's possible. I really think that maybe you should check those numbers out, sign off on them, get them in the mail first thing in the morning. I'll be glad to help you if you'd like.
Liza: Are you taking baby steps to weasel your way back into the company?
Adam: Of course not. You're doing an excellent job.
Liza: Well, thanks.
Adam: Where are you going?
Liza: I'm going to the office. I'm going to pick up the numbers. And then, if you're really good, I might let you help me.
Adam: I'll be wearing my halo by that time. I'm going to read a story with Colby.
Liza: Adam --
Adam: Yes, Dear?
Liza: This is not escape from Alcatraz. Please stay put.
Adam: I am here for the duration, Warden.

Stuart: Hi. I got here as soon as I could. What's going on?
Adam: I need you to switch places with me, Stuart. Just wait a minute. You think I called you up here to give me moral support?
Stuart: Uh-uh, Adam. No way. No.
Adam: Stuart --
Stuart: I'm not going to break the law for you.
Adam: You know this is an emergency.
Stuart: Everything with you is an emergency. Besides, you still have that jail thingy on your leg there. No, I -- I'm not going to lie for you again.
Adam: Skye called from Llanview
Stuart: Oh.
Adam: It's the old business again. She needs to see me right away.
Stuart: Did she sound upset?
Adam: Yes, very.
Stuart: You think this is it?
Adam: Yeah, I'm afraid so.
Stuart: I'm sorry, Adam.
Adam: I wouldn't ask it otherwise.
Stuart: How are you going to get that thing off your leg?
Adam: That'll take a little work. I want you to hide yourself again. I'll call you when it's time.
Stuart: I wish this could've turned out different.
Adam: Yeah. So do I.

Adam: Officer. Baird. Would you mind stepping inside for just a moment?
Adam: Can I offer you a drink?
Officer. Baird: Why do people ask that when they know a cop's on duty?
Adam: Maybe they're just trying to figure out how far he's willing to go.
Officer. Baird: Excuse me?
Adam: What's your name -- your first name, Officer. Baird?
Officer. Baird: Bill. Bill Baird. Are we done?
Adam: Any kids?
Officer. Baird: Three.
Adam: Oh. I have four -- three girls and a boy.
Officer. Baird: Three boys.
Adam: You got a dynasty in the making there.
Officer. Baird: I like to think so.
Adam: And you love them very much.
Officer. Baird: Family means everything to me.
Adam: Oh, good. Good, good. You'd do anything for them, wouldn't you?
Officer. Baird: What's coming next is a bribe or a threat. I don't want to hear either one, so I'm going to step back --
Adam: No, I'm sure Derek has filled your ears with all sorts of tales about me.
Officer. Baird: He said you'd try to pull something.
Adam: Could we have a serious discussion for a moment, just family man to family man?
Officer. Baird: You got 30 seconds, Mr. Chandler.
Adam: Well, all right, I'll try to paint with a broad stroke. How are your kids in school?
Officer. Baird: Honors, all three.
Adam: Oh, that's great. How about college?
Officer. Baird: We've got our fingers crossed.
Adam: Yeah, well, obviously they have the grades. They just have to worry about the tuition. That's going to be tough. Three boys, four years of college on a cop's salary. It'll be difficult.
Officer. Baird: They'll get loans.
Adam: What would you say if I told you that I had a foolproof way of walking out of here for a few days without anyone ever knowing that I was gone or being able to prove that you'd helped me do it.
Officer. Baird: I'd say you were crazy.
Adam: Yeah. But you know I can do it. And you know what I'd give you in exchange?
Officer. Baird: I don't care. Now, go back and sit down.
Adam: All three boys, any college they want, full rides.
Officer. Baird: Come again?
Adam: That's tuition, books, fees, room and board, spending money -- all of it, four years, three boys. Won't cost your family a cent.
Officer. Baird: Mr. Chandler --
Adam: Before you say anything, I'm going to show you something. Excuse me.
Adam: Meet my brother Stuart. Or, for our purposes, meet Adam Chandler.

Tad: Ok, it's ok. I want you to calm down. Ok, calm down. Listen to me, listen to me. Listen to me for a sec, please? I know how you feel. I know how angry you can get when you're powerless to help somebody that you care about. But once you let go of that anger, once you destroy this place, you're still going to have the problem, right?
J.R.: Yeah, and your house is going to be trashed.
Tad: Forget about that. Look at me. Something really good can come out of a moment like this.
J.R.: What?
Tad: This is the moment where a man realizes he's got to redirect his anger, ok? He's got to use it rather than let it use him. You got to stay focused. You got to be smarter so you can figure this out.
J.R.: Smarter how?
Tad: Any way you can. In this case, we got to go over everything we know about Leslie. Ok, everything she did, everything she said in that attic. Every detail, no matter how small.
J.R.: What good is it going to do?
The cops couldn't even find her.
Tad: They didn't have you. And you're the key. Junior, I swear to you, if you stay calm and focused, you're going to remember something that's going to help us bring back your mother safe and sound. So what do you say, huh? Help me figure this out?
J.R.: I'm still mad at you.
Tad: No kidding.
J.R.: So, what do you need me to do?
Tad: All right. Now, listen to me. I want you to walk me through this thing, ok -- very slowly, step by step, from the second you realized where you were and what Leslie was doing.
J.R.: Ok, I -- I was in the park, and all of a sudden she came up from behind me and --

David: It's over, Leslie.
Leslie: It's over when I say.

Dixie: David!

Leslie: I'm going to blow you so far out of the water that everyone in Pine Valley's going to get a piece.
David: How much did you take?
Leslie: What?
David: Libidozone. You're high on it right now. How much did you take?
Leslie: A lot, enough. Like I care.
David: Leslie, you would never be doing this without it.
Leslie: I've wanted to see you suffer for so long, and I'm going to make sure that you do!
David: I'm telling you, Leslie, you don't want to go up against me.
Leslie: I have never been afraid of you, David. Why start now?
David: Because it would be the smart thing to do.
Leslie: I'm going to ruin you, David. You won't get Dixie. You'll lose your medical license. You'll go to jail.
David: Wait a minute. What are you doing?
Leslie: Get away from me!
David: What, are you going to go to the other terrace? You're never going to make it. That ledge won't hold you.
Leslie: It's only a few feet.
David: Leslie, give me your hand.
Leslie: Stay away from me!

[Leslie screams]

Hayley: I'll go first thing in the morning.
Mateo: I'm coming with you.
Hayley: Ok, I'll call Dr. Clader.
Mateo: All right. So then we'll know for sure.
Hayley: Gosh, I'm getting nervous all over --
Mateo: No, no, I didn't mean that. I mean, come on, they say these things are really accurate, so --
Hayley: I know.
Mateo: We do know for sure.
Hayley: But only the doctor can give us, like, a definitive answer.
Mateo: What's definitive is what you feel inside. Right?
Hayley: I want to believe that.
Mateo: Just trust yourself.
Hayley: You know, I'm not really good at doing that these days.
Mateo: But the good thing is that this is a whole new time for us. Nothing in the past matters except how far we've come. This is where we've always wanted to be, right?
Hayley: Starting a family?
Mateo: Yes. Yes. You're so beautiful. I hope our kids look like you.
Hayley: No, they have to look like you. You're the beautiful one.
Mateo: She'll be as gorgeous as her mother.
Hayley: Well, "she"?
Mateo: Mm-hmm.
Hayley: Oh, you know we're having a girl? Any names picked out?
Mateo: Don't want to jinx it, but I'm going to refer to her as "she" until you tell me otherwise.
Hayley: Why "she"?
Mateo: Well, because her mother is a beautiful, intelligent, caring soul and I think that God would want more women like that on this planet.
Hayley: Same goes for a boy, especially since he'd be just like his daddy.

Stuart: Blast this infernal --

[door closes]

Stuart: Ooh, that's good, that's good. "Infernal" -- that's a good Adam word. Blast --
Liza: Ahem.
Stuart: Blast this infernal thing!
Liza: Yeah, I guess you're just going to have to get used to it. Maybe we could get your trousers rehemmed.
Stuart: Oh, for heaven's sakes, Liza, it won't take that long. Um -- why are you back so soon?
Liza: Oh, I got those quarterly reports -- you know, the ones that you wanted to see ASAP.
Stuart: Oh, right, right. Yes, I'll -- how do they look?
Liza: Oh, well, a little slow, but the whole economy is slipping a little.
Stuart: Good, good. That's good, that's good. Well, I'll just take a look and you -- maybe you'd like to go off to bed. You look like maybe you'd be ready to go off to bed. And I'll just take a look. Is there something wrong?
Liza: When I left earlier, I waited to see how long it would take you before you tried to take off again.
Stuart: Oh -- well, I didn't, did I? Shows how much you know.
Liza: Yes, I was surprised by your restraint.
Stuart: I've learned a few things about not flying off the handle and -- and not -- not taking matters into my own hands and --
Liza: You know what I'm happy about?
Stuart: What?
Liza: I am so happy that we're going to be able to spend the entire evening together, cuddling by the fire and -- doesn't that sound nice?
Stuart: Hmm, well -- sounds a little dangerous.
Liza: Hmm. Well, I won't bite. Unless, of course, you want me to.
Stuart: Oh, you know, don't you?
Liza: Yes, I do.
Stuart: How wouldn't you know.
Liza: Knew the minute I walked in the door. Adam should know better.
Stuart: Well, I know. I know. But it's such a worthy cause.
Liza: You know what? Just for the record -- I am never going to confuse Adam with his brother ever again. I love him very much.
Stuart: I know, I know.
Liza: Excuse me, but what is the good cause?
Stuart: I can't tell you.
Liza: Oh, Stuart, come on.
Stuart: No, I really can't. I promised Adam and I swore on it. Swore.
Liza: I can't believe that he would risk everything. How could he pull something like this with the cops right outside?
Stuart: Well, he thinks anybody can be bought, and I guess it's true --
Liza: Oh, jeez.
Stuart: Mostly. No, look, you're going to believe this. You got to believe in this cause. Once Adam explains it to you, you'll understand.
Adam: Hmm, another explanation. I can't wait.

Tad: Come on, come on, J.R. There's got to be something else you remember.
J.R.: I feel like my brain is going to explode.
Tad: Ok, ok, take it easy. Let's just go over the phone call one more time.
J.R.: We went over it a million times. Tad: Just one more time. Just tell me again -- what exactly did Leslie say?
J.R.: She was talking about how hard it was to be the other woman.
Tad: No, after that, after that.
J.R.: Um -- she was saying how -- that somebody was -- somebody was going to take a fall or -- fall a long -- fall a long ways.
Tad: Wait, you mean somebody was going to fall or somebody was going to take a fall?
J.R.: More like -- more like the second one, the second one.
Tad: Ok.
J.R.: Yeah, yeah, she said somebody was going to take a fall, a long, long fall.
Tad: You know, that's just a figure of speech. She was probably talking about Hayward. What else did she say?
J.R.: Nothing. I mean, all she did was play with these keys with a --
Tad: What keys? What kind of keys? Car keys?
J.R.: They had a rabbit's foot on them. I don't know. They were a bunch of keys --
Tad: A rabbit's -- a rabbit's foot, like the ones on my keys?
J.R.: Yeah.
Tad: The ones on my office keys?
J.R.: What does that have to do with it, Tad?
Tad: My office keys are gone.
J.R.: That was them, then.
Tad: Yeah. You did good, ok? You did real good. I'm proud of you.
J.R.: You going to go find Mom?
Tad: Sure as hell going to try. Get in here. You keep your eye on him. Don't let him out of your sight. Call Lt. Frye, tell him to meet me at Chandler Enterprise.
Officer: All right.

Leslie: David! Help me! Help me! I'm losing my grip!

[Leslie screams]

David: No. Leslie: You won't let me die. Please! David!

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Greenlee: Do that thing to him where you massage his organs.

Gillian: You were with the doctor a long time. Did he say I could get pregnant again?

Leslie: Give me your other hand! Oh, David! David!
