Jack: You've come a long way from the Chicken Shack, my dear.

Erica: Congratulations, Opal.

[Opal laughs]

Opal: Well, everybody knows that without my exclusive side deal with Enchantment, I would be just another, what, run-of-the-mill makeup moguless. Thank you, Honey. Thank you so much.
Erica: You're welcome, Opal. It's so good to see you looking so happy, Opal.
Opal: Well -- yeah, I could say the same for you, you know. What gives?
Erica: Well, Bianca and I had a very warm and very, very friendly evening last night.
Opal: Oh.
Erica: I think we're really getting past some of the things that have been keepings apart.
Opal: Erica, that is great news.
Erica: Yes.
Jack: Yeah, and quite a tall order. What happened that makes you think that?
Erica: Well, let's not talk about me. This is Opal's morning.
Opal: Oh, no, Honey, I want to hear all about it.
Erica: All right. Well, then let's just say that I took steps to remove some stumbling blocks from Bianca's path. And I think that communicating is going to be a lot easier from now on.
Opal: Well, that's what it's all about, isn't it? Communication.
Jack: Yes, it certainly is.
Erica: So, back to the celebration. I want to propose a toast.

David: Hey. What a nice surprise. What is it?
Dixie: I just heard what Leslie said.
David: What exactly did you hear?
Dixie: She said that she wants something from you. That she's going to get it no matter what? What is it? Does she have something on you? Is she trying to blackmail you in some way?
David: No, no. Of course not. Why would Leslie be trying to blackmail me?
Dixie: I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with Libidozone?
David: What are you talking about?
Dixie: I was just with Tad, and he and Dimitri and Edmund feel that they have proof that you're responsible for drugging all the people at Ryan's party.
David: That's impossible!
Dixie: That's what I told them.
David: You defended me? Wait a minute, you defended me, but you have your doubts. Is that why yore here, for reassurance?
Dixie: Tad said that you drugged Leslie so that she'd go after him -- and then I come here and she's here and you guys are talking, and she's acting crazy.
David: You know something? If Libidozone didn't exist, Tad would've invented it. I mean, it covers up a multitude of sins, doesn't it? Why would I have to encourage Leslie to go after him? She wants him, Dixie, and she wants him bad.
Dixie: Yeah, but what does she want from you?
David: Dixie, look, don't -- don't ask me that question. I'm just -- I'm just trying to spare your feelings.
Dixie: Don't. Don't spare me, please. Tell me. What is she so eager to get from you?
David: Leslie wants me to poison your mind about Tad so you'll divorce him and then she'll have a clear shot at him.

Bianca: So last night was just a big lie, huh? When you said that y wanted us to talk and be close --
Erica: Of course not, Honey. Of course I wanted us --
Bianca: You had already gone behind my back and gotten rid of my friend. What did you tell her, Mom? Did you threaten to get her arrested or something?
Erica: Bianca, this is not the place to discuss this. People are looking. Just -- we'll talk about this at home.
Bianca: All right, then come home right now!
Erica: Bianca, you are being completely unreasonable. I am having breakfast with your Uncle Jack and with Opal. This is a celebration. And you're ruining it.
Bianca: I'm sorry. But after what you did, Mom --
Jack: Ok, ok, ok, listen, listen, listen, listen. Sit down he. I want to hear what you have to say, but I want you to settle down, ok, so I can understand what's going on here.
Erica: Look, I can explain everything.
Jack: Now, let's let Bianca explain. I'm sure she can do it without making a scene, can't you?
Opal: Here, Honey. Something to drink, if you need it.
Bianca: Last night I invited Rain to stay at the house because she's homeless, that's the only reason. Mom found out --
Jack: Ok, shh --
Bianca: And she kicked her out into the cold. And then she followed her and she paid her $10,000 to get out of town.
Opal: No, no, Honey, I'm sure that can't be right.
Jack: Is that right, Erica?
Erica: Yes, that's right. That's exactly what I did.
Opal: Oh -- Erica --
Erica: The girl is a bad influence on Bianca. Bianca: She's my friend, Mom.
Erica: How can you say that? Friend? She took money to give you up.
Bianca: She's broke. And she's homeless. Besides, she was probably afraid. I mean, God, who knows what you said to threaten her.
Erica: All I said to her -- all I did was make her promise never to contact you again, a promise she obviously turned around and broke right away.
Bianca: Wrong. Wrong. She was at the train station buying a ticket, and the police saw her whip out her big wad of cash and hauled her into the station for questioning.
Jack: Oh, boy.
Bianca: They called the house to check her story.
Jack: Let me get down to the station, get this straightened out.
Bianca: No, no, you don't have to. I vouched for her, because it sounded like exactly the kind of trick Mom would pull.
Opal: Oh, good. So at least the poor girl wasn't arrested?
Erica: Poor girl? That poor girl has Bianca skipping school and staying out all night and she started to panhandle.
Bianca: That's right, that's right, Mom, she did all that. But that's not why you got rid of her, is it? I think we all know why that is, don't we? Because you can't stand thinking we were sleeping together.

Hayley: Come on! Come on, Mateo. Why can't you be nice to me like you were two minutes ago? I know you like me.
Mateo: I do, I do like you. It's just -- uh, it's just, you know, I'm hungry. Why don't we have some breakfast? I'll make you your favorite -- pancakes. Blueberry pancakes. You want to help me cook? Come on.
Hayley: Yeah, I'll help you cook. Look, if you're not going to be any fun, I'm going back to bed. Mateo: Come on, come on. Hey, hey, just give me a hand here. Come on.
Hayley: What are you, slow? How many times do I have to tell you? Hayley is gone! She is finished, like yesterday's trash!
Mateo: Give that to me. Give that --

Mateo: Because you know how much I love Hayley and you know how much she loves me.

Mateo: And I think Hayley should know if she comes back, everything's going to be ok. Nothing bad is going to happen to her or to Arlene.
Hayley: Just leave me alone. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Hayley: No.
Mateo: I wish you could tell Hayley to come back. Tell her that everything's fine, that it's going to be ok, that she shouldn't be afraid because Mateo is here. And he's waiting for her.

Adam: Oh, Sweetheart. Thank God you're all right!
Mateo: Just stay away.
Adam: How are you, Sweetheart? Did Arlene hurt you? Did that drunken disaster hurt you?

Erica: I am not going to discuss this in public.
Bianca: I just want you to admit the truth, Mom. The reason that you got rid of Rain wasn't because of the panhandling and everything else. It's because she's gay. And you didn't think that we could have anything in common except sex.
Erica: You know, Bianca, as hard as you try to shock us, you will not succeed in making this about that issue. You invited someone to sleep in my house last night without my knowledge, someone you know I already disapprove of. Now, that person's gender is completely irrelevant.
Bianca: Yeah, right.
Erica: What do you think I would've done had I found you with a boy in your room last night?
Bianca: Oh, I don't know, Mom. Cartwheels? Of course you want me to sleep with a boy. I mean, that's why you bought -- tried to buy Leo for me, isn't it? I mean, wouldn't everything have been so much easier if he had just gone along?
Erica: You know, I think you deliberately misinterpret everything I say and everything I do. You are 16 years old. I don't want you to be sexually active at all.
Bianca: No? I don't know, Mom. All my life all I've heard is how you expect me to be like you. Well, weren't you the mo popular girl in Pine Valley High in your day? I don't think you got that way just platonically, did you?
Jack: All right, now, that's enough.
Erica: This is quite enough, Bianca. Why don't you just go home now.
Bianca: I am just trying to be like you, Mom. I mean, no, but I'm already too late for that, aren't it? Because, I mean, you were a lot younger than I was when you first had sex, weren't you?
Erica: I'm going to go make a phone call.
Jack: Should I --

Opal: Oh, Bianca, how could you?
Jack: What hell is the matter with you, huh?
Opal: Have you forgotten? Could you have forgotten that your mama was raped when she was at the age of 14
Bianca: Oh, my -- oh, my God -- I -- I wasn't thinking. I --

Dixie: I can't believe the nerve of Leslie Coulson! Like you could actually convince me to do something that I don't want to do?
David: Well, that's why I was so unpleasant with her. And in turn, she became belligerent. That must've been what you overheard.
Dixie: Well, she thinks you were unpleasant with her, wait till she gets an earful from me.
David: What, no -- Dixie, wait a minute. No, no -- no, just, look, stay away from Leslie Coulson. I think the woman is mentally unstable. In fact, I'm sure of it. Maybe she's suffering from lasting effects from the Libidozone she ingested.
Dixie: Can you tell me why Edmund and Dimitri are so certain that you're connected to the drug?
David: Because there is a connection. All right, look, maybe I should just be straight with you.
Dixie: Yeah, yeah, be straight with me, please.
David: Have a seat. Sit. I became aware of the drug Libidozone around the time that Jake was in need of it. I thought it would be a great idea -- in fact, even profitable for the foundation to set up a research program for it. So I contacted the Carlquist Lab in Sweden. But I couldn't get Alex to go on board, so I let it go.
Dixie: Is that the extent of your involvement?
David: No. No, there's more, Dixie. The lab sent me a sample of the drug from Sweden. But the sample disappeared from my office. I think somebody must've stolen it.
Dixie: You think -- you think somebody -- is that the person that probably could've put the drug, you know, in everybody's drinks at Ryan's party?
David: Well, I think it's certainly possible.
Dixie: Well, you have to go to the police. I mean, Edmund and Dimitri are really serious about pinning this on you! You have to tell them what you know. Otherwise, if you don't, you're going to look really suspicious when it all comes out.
David: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I need to get my own evidence before I go to the police. I think I know who stole the drug.
Dixie: You think it's Leslie?
David: Yeah.
Dixie: Why didn't you tell me before all of this happened? Or maybe after Ryan's party --
David: Because I thought that you would think I was guilty. I mean, even today when Edmund and Dimitri told you their charges against me, you still doubted me. Come on. Admit it.
Dixie: Well, yeah, I did. I guess -- you know, how could I not? You know, you -- you lie to everybody.
David: No, that is not true. I never lie to you, Dixie. Hey, I'm trying to be the person that you see me as.
Dixie: Ok. I'll let you get back to work.
David: Wait a minute, wait a minute. How did you get down here? Isn't your car still at that bar, the Armpit or whatever it's called?
Dixie: Yeah, I took a taxi.
David: All right, well, look, I got a rental car, all right? Let me -- let me take you home, ok? Or we could go to the bar and get your car and --
Dixie: Oh, please, let's not do that.
David: All right, fine, let me just take you home. Come on.
Dixie: Come on, I don't want to take you away from your work --
David: No, that's all right, that's all right. I have to leave my office anyway. I'm dealing with a slight pest control problem.
Dixie: Ooh.
David: Hmm, yeah, my feelings exactly. Come on. Oh, you know, actually, I forgot something. I'll be right there. One minute.
David: Why don't you meet me down at the lobby, all right? I forgot to leave a message for my brain-dead secretary.

Leslie: There it is -- my Libidozone. Ok, Tad. It's time for a repeat performance.

[Telephone rings]

Tad: Tad Martin.
Leslie: Ah, my favorite person.
Tad: Good-bye.
Leslie: Don't hang up. I have to see you.
Tad: Not a chance.
Leslie: It's urgent.
Tad: Leslie, I wouldn't come within a hundred yards of you.
Leslie: Look, wait. Ok? You're going to want to see me. It's about David. You were right about him.
Tad: What?
Leslie: You were right. He tried to use me to break up your marriage, but he has double-crossed me for the last time. I'm ready to give you all the proof you need.
Tad: What proof?
Leslie: Just meet me, ok? I will -- I'll hand it over. I'll wait for you in my room.
Tad: No, not a chance. No, no, no, no. Someplace public, a lot of people, like the park.
Leslie: Well, it's freezing out. I'll meet you in 15 minutes at the bar at the Valley Inn.
Tad: Leslie, so help me God, if you try anything, I'm out of there.
Leslie: I promise.

Bianca: I wasn't thinking about what happened to Mom when she was 14. I -- I was so upset about what she did. I --
Opal: Honey, you should know is for you and your mother to understand each other right now, she would never deliberately try to hurt you.
Bianca: Who cares if it's deliberate or not? All I see when I look in her face now is shame, embarrassment. I mean, how could I not get angry? I didn't do anything wrong.
Jack: Yeah, well, now wait a -- whoa -- you know, you'd have a lot better case if you hadn't stayed out all night with Rain, skipped school.
Bianca: If Rain weren't gay --
Jack: Oh --
Bianca: Then Mom would not have paid her to get out of town. I wouldn't have had to lie about having her in the house. You know that's right.
Opal: Well, no matter how it may look, your mother is trying hard in her own way to understand everything that's happened.
Bianca: Why does everything have to be on her terms?
Opal: It just does, that's all. With Erica Kane, you got to make allowances.
Jack: Well, God knows I've had to in my time.
Opal: I don't know why that should be, but it is. And you know something? It is worth it because there is nobody that is as loyal and can love as deeply as your mama.
Jack: Opal's absolutely right. So if you can just make up your mind to meet her halfway, Honey --
Opal: Or halfway and, you know, maybe a little smidgen more.
Jack: Like Opal says. If you can do that, I will be there to support you any way I can, ok?
Opal: And I will, too. I am in your corner. You know where to find me -- under the flashing Glamorama sign.

Erica: Opal, I was just speaking with my corporate consultants and everything seems to be in perfect order with our new Enchantment/Glamorama contracts.
Opal: Oh, well, good.
Bianca: Mom, I --
Erica: Jack? Could you please ask Bianca to go home now.
Bianca: Mom, I'm sorry --
Erica: We were having a very, very pleasant get-together and I don't believe she has anything else she could possibly say.
Opal: Oh, now, Honey --
Bianca: Ok, ok. Look, I'll go, but I -- I want to apologize for --
Erica: Bianca, you really ruined Opal's celebration. I'm very disappointed in you.
Bianca: There's a news flash. Uncle Jack, why don't you tell Mom that I know exactly how disappointed she is in me.

Opal: Go after her, Honey, quick.
Erica: No, no, no, no, no, no. I will not. Bianca has to learn that my life doesn't just stop whenever she wants it to.
Opal: Oh, baloney. It always will.
Erica: Look, this morning is about Glamorama. I just -- I refuse to discuss my personal problems anymore. Actually, there are some things I would like to go through before we sign the contract, so can we do that now?

[Erica sighs]

Erica: Good.

Adam: What was that for?
Hayley: Because you're a rotten, stinking piece of garbage! That's what for.
Adam: Hayley, Sweetheart, what's wrong?
Hayley: Jeez Louise! How many times do I have to tell you people? Hayley is gone, forever!
Adam: But, Mateo, she's --
Mateo: Adam, why don't -- why don't you give Arlene a break? You're right, Adam's just a piece of garbage, but don't waste your time. Why don't you let me take care of him, all right?
Hayley: Thank you, Sweetie. Good swift kick in the keister ought to do the trick.
Mateo: All right, all right. Just go freshen up, ok?
Hayley: For what?
Mateo: Um -- while I get rid of Adam, when I'm done with that, when you come back, if you're looking sexy, I'll -- I'll show you a good time.
Hayley: Now that's a proposition I can get behind. And if you play your cards right, you might get some behind yourself tonight.

Adam: What -- what the hell just happened here?
Mateo: I was so close. I was about to break through. I was getting through to her and you barged in and you ruined it, Adam.
Adam: What -- what is the matter with her? She acts like she's in a trance!
Mateo: She's lost touch with reality, Adam.
Adam: Hayley thinks she's Arlene!
Mateo: Yes, she thinks she's Arlene. My guess is that she's so guilty about strangling her mother that she's -- I don't know -- trying to live for her, live in place of her.
Adam: But -- oh! That -- that can't be.
Mateo: It can't -- why, because you won't allow it? Look. It's supposed to be Arlene's handwriting, right? Whose handwriting does that look like?
Adam: It looks like Hayley's.
Mateo: It is Hayley's. I mean, at first, she did a good job of imitating her mother's handwriting, but then she just --
Adam: Uh -- what do you mean, at first?
Mateo: Adam, it's been Hayley the whole time -- the break-ins, your wedding cake -- she destroyed your wedding cake -- the notes she's been leaving. It's been Hayley.
Adam: Oh, my God. That's what Vanessa Cortlandt meant when she said that Hayley was Arlene. Then -- then Arlene never came back. She's really dead.
Mateo: She -- she's dead, yes.
Adam: Well, oh, my God. What are we -- what if Derek hears about this? We've got to tell him that Arlene is alive but has left town. She's gone away somewhere and then we have to muzzle that Cortlandt woman.
Mateo: Are you still hatching your little plots, Adam? I mean, don't you think that that's why we're here in this mess to begin with -- because of your little plans? No, you do what you want to do. I'm going to go help my wife.
Adam: We're all going to help her. I mean, we'll find her a doctor, a good doctor. Maybe Barry can help. And we'll get her into a discreet, little, private clinic somewhere and they'll make her well again. We'll -- no one will ever know any of this happened. What the hell are you doing?
Mateo: You're not calling anyone.
Adam: What the hell are you doing?
Mateo: Well, I can tell you what I'm not going to do. I'm not going to put Hayley in a sanitarium.
Adam: Really? You have a better way to handle this?
Mateo: Yeah -- I'll take her away and I'll get through to her on my own.
Adam: Are you crazy? You're not equipped to handle someone in an emotional crisis.
Mateo: What, do you intend to tell a psychiatrist exactly why Hayley thinks she's Arlene? Do you want to tell her what she did? What you did? Huh?
Adam: I -- are you sure you can handle this?
Mateo: Yeah. I just -- listen, before you walked in, I was showing her this picture, this wedding picture. All right? I was getting through to her. I just need a little more time.
Adam: All I want is what's best for my little girl.
Mateo: Fine. Then let me take her away. Let me take her away. I don't need anybody barging in. I just need her -- I need her realize that it's safe -- that it's safe to come back here.
Adam: What do you plan to do?
Mateo: Give me your key to your cabin on the beach.

[Hayley sighs]

Hayley: You promised me you'd get rid of this piece of garbage.
Mateo: I know, I know. But you know what? He's staying. We're leaving.
Hayley: All right, then.
Mateo: All right?
Hayley: Yeah. And, Adam, if you think you're actually going to get a real live divorce from me, then you're even more stupider than you look. I guess you and Liza will just have to live in sin.

Mateo: Just a second. Just a second.
Adam: This had better work.

Mateo: Are you ready? Yeah?
Hayley: Oh, you have no idea.
Mateo: Come on. Come on. Got this?

Erica: I'm off to another meeting.
Jack: No, no, no, no, no, no. Please, please. Sit. Don't go.
Opal: You can't go, Erica. We can't let you.
Erica: Look, I'm warning both of you -- the last thing I need right now is another lecture on my parenting skills.
Opal: Oh, no, no. It's not about that at all.
Jack: Please. Opal: No, really. Sit down. I know that you are dealing with Bianca and her news in the very best way that you can.
Erica: I am attempting to set some boundaries for my 16-year-old daughter. And when I tell her what my rules are -- as any mother should -- then she says that I'm a horrible bigot.
Opal: Oh. You're right. You're absolutely right. It is not fair. But still --
Erica: Still what?
Jack: Still, Erica, you -- you had to know that bribing this girl to leave town could backfire.
Erica: You know, I don't believe I need to defend myself on that. Tell me -- do you two approve of Bianca hanging out with a girl who's a known thief?
Jack: No, no. I don't approve. But I don't think that buying this girl off to leave town behind her back was the answer, either.
Erica: Well, you weren't there, Jack. I did the best I could. The girl needed money, I gave it to her, and let's hope she has the good sense now to stay away.
Jack: Erica, don't you see -- taking Rain out of this equation -- that doesn't solve anything.

Leslie: Two coffees, please.
Bartender: Sure.
Leslie: Thank you.
Bartender: Sure.
Tad: This had better be good.

Dixie: All I'm saying is, is if Leslie is as dangerous as you say she is, if she stole that drug from your office --
David: No, no, no. I never said definitely.
Dixie: Well, I heard what she said with my own ears, so I'll draw my own conclusions. But if she did, then that means that she's made all of us her victims, including Tad.
David: You know, I'm not going to do what Leslie wants and disparage Tad. I won't do it.
Dixie: I know what you think. You think he didn't need Libidozone to cheat on me.
David: That's right. Look, let's not talk about Tad. All right? As far as I'm concerned, his greatest sin was letting you slip through his fingers.
Dixie: Thanks for driving me home.
David: No problem. So would you like to make plans to go pick up your car later?
Dixie: Well, I'm going to go with Becca. Thanks.
David: All right. Well, I guess I'll see you when I see you. You know, there really is something to be said about chance meetings. When I turned around in my office and saw you standing there unexpectedly -- I mean, all of a sudden, I became very happy.
Dixie: David.
David: As it turned out, you came because you were suspicious of me and you had your doubts and you needed answers. But when I saw you smile, I could pretend for one brief moment that you were the woman in my life and that you had come by just to brighten up my day.
Dixie: You know, I used to do that with Tad, drop by his office unexpectedly and he'd smile.
David: Do you think I have no feelings at all? I mean, I realize that you don't feel for me the way that I do for you, Dixie, but do you have to remind me of it every time that we're together?
Dixie: David, I'm -- I'm sorry. Where is this coming from?
David: You know something? I'm not going to do what Leslie wants. In fact, I'm going to do the opposite. Go back to Tad. Promise him anything. Maybe he'll take you back. It's obviously what'll make you happy.
Dixie: David, wait. Don't go.

Erica: You know, I think all that you see about that girl, Rain, is that she's gay. And maybe I made a mistake to pay her off, but it's not because she's gay. It's because she's a thief! Now are you telling me that's the kind of life that you would like for Bianca -- to be homeless, to be a panhandler, to live on the streets? I am trying to give Bianca some kind of guidance. I'm trying to help my daughter. I -- I am really at a loss.
Opal: Well, Honey, I know that this has got to rank right up there with some of the worst crises you've had to deal with in your life. But have you -- have you thought -- now, don't get mad at me -- have you though about as much as confused and as bewildered as you might feel, that Bianca is feeling even more so?
Erica: Of course I have. Of course I have. I just want to make Bianca's life better. I just -- oh, how I wish that her life could go back the way it used to be. Now, don't go looking so superior unless you have suggestions.
Opal: Well, you know perfectly well I don't have any suggestions, but I can say that I was there when Kevin Sheffield went through the same kind of problem as Bianca -- you know, the sexual identity thing. And I can say for sure that whatever his problem might have been, he would've made it through it a heck of a lot easier if he could've known that his mama loved him no matter what.
Erica: Opal, please believe me. That is not at all what it is between Bianca and me. I love her. She knows I love her. I mean, we may say the wrong things to each other, but there is no way that she could not know that I love her.

Mateo: Ok, all right, all right. We need the lights. Let's go.
Hayley: What, are you kidding? What'd you bring me to this dump for?
Mateo: What do you mean? I thought you'd like it here.
Hayley: Well, you thought wrong.
Mateo: Hey, hey. Darling, don't you want to be alone?
Hayley: Oh, I see. You want to make your own fun, hmm?
Mateo: I think we're up to it. Don't you?
Hayley: Oh, I'm with you so far.
Mateo: All right. Why don't -- why don't we go take a walk on the beach? It's such a nice night out, huh?
Hayley: Do I look stupid to you? Look, I don't know what kind of angle you're working here, but I'm pretty sure you're not interested in me. So I'm out of here.
Mateo: Hey, listen, listen. You're not going anywhere until you let me talk to Hayley.

David: You've made it painfully clear, Dixie, that Tad is the man that you love and that you'll never love me the way that you do him. I mean, it's -- you're just my fantasy, that we're together, you and me, and that we're taking on the world together.
Dixie: Don't say that. This feels very real to me.

Leslie: Your coffee's getting cold.
Tad: Look, spare me the small talk, ok? Just tell me what you know about David.

[Leslie sighs]

Leslie: I know that he is a terrible, unconscionable man. And you were right about him all along. He -- he did try to break up your marriage to Dixie.
Tad: You said you had proof.
Leslie: Yes. I am so sorry that I ever went along with David. I want him to pay just as much as you do. So you see, we're on the same side. We're allies. To total victory against David.

Mateo: Do you love your daughter? Show her that you're the mother she always wanted.

Leslie: Say my name. Say that you want me.
