ALL MY CHILDREN

JANUARY 9, 2001

[Knock on door]

Leo: Can I come in?
Greenlee: Um, now is not a good time.
Leo: My heavy coat -- I forgot it here.
Greenlee: Leo, please, can't you come back later?
Leo: I could, but I'm here already. What's with the parole board outfit, Greenlee?
Greenlee: I have a meeting. Get your coat.
Leo: All right, I'm going.
Greenlee: Did you find it?
Leo: These are mine, too.
Greenlee: Fine. Good-bye.
Leo: What is it, your legal problems? Is this about your meeting, what?
Greenlee: No, it's not. Can you go now?
Leo: Oh, I forgot the --
Greenlee: Leo, come on. Get out of here.
Leo: What's the matter with you?
Greenlee: Nothing. I just don't want you here, all right?
Leo: All right. All right.
Leo: Greenlee, what's going on?

Adam: Stuart, that's -- that's absurd. You don't know what you're talking about.
Stuart: Well, yes, I do. Arlene is back in Pine
alley. I wanted you to be the first one to know because when we talked to her over at the motel we were both so excited because we thought we had both felt that she was kind of -- kind of close by, kind of -- you know, just in spirit, maybe. But she was here the whole time. She was back from Amsterdam all along.
Marian: Stuart, did you see Arlene?
Stuart: Oh, no. But Naomi did.
Adam: Who is Naomi?
Stuart: Oh, Naomi. She's my new part-time girl -- part-time lady -- employee.
Adam: Stuart.
Stuart: She works for me at the gallery, and she told me this lady came in and, well, she sure sounded a lot like Arlene to me. You know, very pretty face and long blond hair and tight clothes and very strong perfume.
Adam: What is so unique about that?
Stuart: Well, it wasn't. It was Arlene.
Marian: Stuart, did the woman say anything?
Stuart: Well, no, not much. But she said enough. When Naomi asked if she could help her, she said, "Sweetie, I'm fine."
Liza: "Sweetie"?
Stuart: And then she left.
Junior: Does this mean that the wedding's going to be canceled?
Liza: I should speak to the judge and apologize.
Adam: Yes, thank him for me.

Hayley: Stuart is right.
Mateo: We don't know that.
Hayley: No, no, no -- about what I said to him at the Pine Cone. It was as if my mother was there. The smell of her perfume was so fresh and strong, it was like she'd just left the room. So what if -- what if he's right? What if she's back from --
Mateo: Honey, she was never in Amsterdam.
Hayley: I wasn't going to say Amsterdam.
Mateo: Let's go sit down for a little bit, ok?
Hayley: No, no. You don't understand. No, I can't stay here!
Mateo: Where are you going?
Hayley: If my mother is alive, that means I didn't kill her, and that means I have to find her.

Tad: Where the hell is my ring? I'm sure I was standing right here and put it -- Dixie? Baby, have you seen my ring? Dixie? Dixie, are you down there?
Tad: Now I've lost my wedding ring and my wife.

[Leslie hums "Bridal March"]

David: Dixie.
Dixie: Oh, you scared me. David.
David: What are you doing here?
Dixie: I'm going to see Leslie Coulson.
David: Here?
Dixie: Yes, yes. I have a few things that I have to say to her, and she is in there.
David: Wait a minute. What is this about?
Dixie: Tad told me what happened.
David: About what?
Dixie: Leslie apparently has been after him, and he has tried to stop it, but she won't listen to him. She keeps calling. She called when we were in bed together last night. She's, like, totally out of control and I won't put up with it, so she's just going to have to deal with me, ok?
David: Dixie, don't.
David: Have you given this any thought? Do you know what you're doing?
Dixie: I know exactly what I'm doing.
David: Does Tad know that you're here?
Dixie: No.
David: Well, what do you think he would say if he found out that you came?
Dixie: It doesn't matter, ok? This is my marriage. She can't call me when I'm in bed with my husband.
David: Dixie, take a deep breath. It's obvious that you rushed over here to confront Leslie without knowing all the facts.
Dixie: I know plenty, ok? I have a few things I have to say to her, and she is just going to have to listen to me.
David: Dixie, I'm worried about you.
Dixie: Why? I can certainly face Leslie.
David: It's what you're not facing that concerns me.

[Telephone rings]

Tad: Yeah, hello?
Leslie: Did you sic Dixie on me?
Tad: Leslie, what are you talking about?
Leslie: Well, she's outside of my room at the Valley Inn. She's having a big argument with somebody. I don't know what's going on, but it sounds like she's looking for trouble.

Mateo: Come on. Where are you going to go?
Hayley: I'm going to get in the car and I'm going to drive to the Pine Cone. And if she's not there, I'm going to drive around some more and look around, and I'll talk to that woman at the gallery and get some more information.
Mateo: Hayley, come on. It can't be true.
Hayley: Why? Why? I mean, what if it is true? What if my prayers have been answered? My God. I mean, if Uncle Stuart is right and she's not --

Junior: Why is everyone making such a big deal about Arlene coming back to town?
Mateo: She's -- she's not. We don't know if she is yet.
Junior: But Dad and Liza postponed the wedding.
Hayley: Well, that's because -- you know, we all got to talking about the possibility of Arlene being back in town, and that judge had to go. I mean, he was in a hurry. You heard him say that, right? So anyway, it's not the first time he's had to go, right?
Junior: I guess. I mean, Dad and Liza have to get married one of these days, right?
Hayley: Oh, of course.
Junior: Hayley, I'm sorry. I know she's your mom and all. But everyone was happy that Arlene went to Europe, you know?
Hayley: Well, I don't want you to worry about that, Junior, because if Arlene is back for good this time, things are going to be different. She's -- we're just going to forget about the past and start all over -- you know, a whole new, fresh start, a new beginning.

Liza: Are you ok?
Junior: Yeah. Sure.
Liza: I know that we're not having the wedding, but we can still have the cake. We can cut the cake, we can give some to Colby, and it might be a nice story for when you grow up.
Junior: I have a lot of those already, thanks.
Liza: Well, we'll have the wedding. Promise.
Junior: I'll go check on Colby.

Adam: You sent the judge away?
Liza: I made my apologies.
Adam: I'm sorry.
Liza: No, we can't have the wedding today.
Adam: No, not today.
Liza: No. Every time we try, every time -- something like this happens, something to do with Arlene. Now this.
Adam: You can't actually believe Stuart is right.
Liza: You know what? I don't know what to believe. I really don't. I've been afraid that Arlene's body was going to wash up onto shore and everything that you did was going to come to light, but if she's alive -- well, she's going to want everybody to know everything that happened. She's going to want to see you and Hayley behind bars. You can't actually believe this experience has made Arlene a better person.
Adam: Well, we can't really discuss this, not with Stuart and Junior in the house.
Liza: No, I understand that. So maybe you should send them home because I don't think I can be quiet. I mean, what's going to happen? Alive or dead, how are we ever going to rid ourselves of Arlene?

Marian: Stuart, a lot of women, you know, wear cheap perfume and tight skirts. And some of them even have blond hair and call people Sweetie.
Stuart: But all at once? What are the chances? It'd be freaky if it wasn't Arlene.
Marian: Stuart, Arlene is in Europe.
Stuart: Well, I know, but there must be six to a half dozen flights a day coming from Amsterdam. Why should Arlene stay away just because she said she would?
Marian: Well, because the police are looking for her. I mean, she would be a fool to come back here to Pine Valley.
Stuart: That's it. She's coming back to return the stolen necklace.
Marian: Oh, Stuart. Come on. Does that sound like Arlene to you?

Adam: We -- we sent the judge away. I'm sure you understand.
Marian: Oh, of course, of course.
Stuart: I don't. Why aren't you getting married today? You're divorced, aren't you, Adam? You told me -- you came back from Amsterdam with a signed divorce agreement.
Stuart: Yes, yes, I did. I came back from Amsterdam with signed divorce papers. We'll -- we'll be married someday soon.

Junior: Colby's asleep.
Liza: Oh, Junior, thanks. Would you mind taking Junior home?
Stuart: No.
Marian: Oh, wouldn't you like me to stay here with you and Adam, and we could figure out another date for your wedding?
Liza: No.
Adam: The fewer people who discuss the wedding, the better. Do you understand?
Stuart: No. I don't -- I don't understand, but I think I'm going to leave anyway because you people are getting a little weird. Liza, I'm really sorry if I ruined your wedding. I mean, if I thought talking about Arlene would spook everybody so much, I would have waited till after.
Liza: Stuart, you didn't do anything wrong.
Stuart: Ok, well -- yeah. Here we go, Junior.
Adam: You, too. Take Stuart to a movie or something.

Stuart: Bye-bye, Hayley. Are you sure you're ok?
Hayley: Oh, yeah. Yes. And thank you for the news about Arlene.
Stuart: Yeah. Well, you tell Arlene that -- well, if she needs anything, anything at all, just to let me know
Hayley: Ok.
Stuart: And tell her I'm really sorry I missed her at the gallery, and if she should come back some other time and I'm not there, tell her to leave a number where I can reach her.
Hayley: I will.
Stuart: And I'll tell Naomi to be on the lookout for her, ok?
Marian: Come on, Darling. Come on, we'd better get going.
Stuart: Ok.
Marian: Oh, it's freezing out.
Stuart: You should have brought your coat, silly. You left it in --

Mateo: What the hell are you doing?
Adam: What are you talking about?
Mateo: This reeks of you. You setting up fake Arlene sightings again? Is that what you're doing?
Adam: Are you insane? This is my wedding.
Mateo: Like that really matters to you.
Adam: Back off, Mateo.
Liza: No, Adam didn't do this.
Mateo: So what are you saying? It's true that Arlene was in the gallery? Adam: I'm saying Arlene wasn't in the gallery because Arlene is dead, and it is preposterous and perhaps cruel to consider anything else.
Mateo: Well, what's Stuart talking about?
Adam: Stuart doesn't know what happened at the yacht party that night. We do. He doesn't know she died by strangulation, and if that didn't work --
Hayley: No, no, no --
Adam: She was frozen to death in --
Hayley: Please, no! Stop! Stop it! Just stop it! Please, stop!

Leo: Why are you so nervous, Greenlee? You expecting someone?
Greenlee: No.
Leo: Yes, you are. Who is it?
Greenlee: No one. You just don't live here anymore. You can't come by anytime you want. Now go, please.
Leo: Oh, I get it. You have a date who's obviously into plain Janes.
Greenlee: No. What do you care anyway?
Leo: I don't. But I'd better get going before you threaten to jump out the window.
Greenlee: Good.

[Knock on door]

Greenlee: Leo, wait, wait, wait. Go out the back door.
Leo: Why?
Greenlee: Just do it.
Leo: Are you kidding me?
Greenlee: Leo. Leo, don't. Leo, don't --
Leo: Who is that guy? He looks familiar.
Greenlee: You don't know him. Leo: He looks rich.
Greenlee: Come on, get out of here.

[Knock]

Greenlee: It's not what you think.
Leo: Do you think that I care who you entertain in your own home?
Greenlee: Well, then why aren't you leaving?
Leo: I am leaving. Have fun.
Greenlee: That way.

Greenlee: Hello.
Greenlee: I am so glad you came.
Man: We don't have much time.
Greenlee: I know.
Man: Well, you're looking more beautiful than ever. But then you've always been beautiful. And thank God for that, because if you didn't have looks, I don't know what would become of you.
Greenlee: How do you like my new apartment? Man: It's very cozy. But if you don't mind, I'm not up for the tour just now. I don't appreciate being summoned across the ocean by your irate grandfather.
Greenlee: Granddaddy made you come?
Man: Watch out, Greenlee. The kindest, most patient of all men is this close to washing his hands of you.
Greenlee: I know he's angry, but --
Man: What? You'll wrap him around your finger like you always do? How long do you think you can behave in this childish, irresponsible manner and continue to get away with it?
Greenlee: This was different.
Man: Yes. This was criminal behavior. You pushed a young lady off a yacht. You almost killed her.
Greenlee: But it's not my fault.
Man: No. It never is, is it? When you were a child, your psychiatrist was certain that you would outgrow these cries for attention. Obviously, you haven't.
Greenlee: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.
Man: Well, you have. Now, pack your bags. I'm taking you back to Europe with me.
Greenlee: No, Daddy, please.

Mateo: I'm sorry I went off on your dad.
Hayley: Why can't it be Arlene? Why? She knows how to swim.

Adam: This is a disaster. Everything I've done since Arlene's death has been to protect Hayley. Look at her.
Liza: I don't know why we thought that lies would do it. You did everything you could to conceal it from Hayley, and Hayley found out that she killed her mother. And if Arlene isn't dead --
Adam: She is dead. Of course she's dead. What do we have here? A description by somebody who never met Arlene.
Liza: Stuart is convinced.
Adam: Stuart -- you heard what he said. He met her over at the motel. He picked up on her sadness. It was wishful thinking on his part.
Liza: Before Stuart arrived, I was feeling apprehensive. Adam: I think the word is "guilty." Sweetheart, we were ready to start a new life together. We were happy. I don't think it's entirely out of character for you to feel a pang of guilt over what we had to do. Believe me, I feel it, too.
Liza: I don't.
Adam: Well, I think about Arlene all the time. And I truly regret what happened, but it did happen. It's over. And I promised you that Arlene would never come between us again. And she won't. She can't. Not if we don't let her.
Liza: You're right. Stuart was probably not sure of what he was saying, and he wanted Hayley to feel better.
Adam: Yeah.
Liza: Yeah.
Adam: And we're going to be married someday very soon. Hayley will get over this. What we have to do is hang together as a family, and we'll make it.

Winifred: Mr. Chandler, I am so sorry, but something awful happened in the kitchen.
Liza: What's wrong?
Winifred: I don't know who or how this happened, but --
Hayley: Oh, my God. The cake -- she smashed it, just like at our wedding.
Liza: Arlene.

Tad: Where is she? Where's Dixie? Leslie, what have you done?
Leslie: Please let go of me. I didn't do anything to Dixie. After I got off the phone with you, she wasn't out here. She was gone.
Tad: What do you mean she was gone? I don't understand.
Leslie: Well, I don't either. And frankly, I don't care. I'm in the middle of a business meeting.
Tad: In there?
Leslie: Yes, a very important client.
Tad: At the Valley Inn? What are you doing with a hotel room?
Leslie: Well, I rented my house, and the tenant needed it right away, so I moved in here until I leave for Singapore.
Tad: You just got the job this afternoon.
Leslie: Well, you know me. I'm results-oriented. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to my client.
Tad: I do mind. If Dixie tracked you down, then how did she find you? And if she came to see you, then why didn't she?
Leslie: Well, you'll have to ask her that yourself. I'm sure that she will surface eventually.
Tad: No, there's something going on. There's something you're not telling me.
Leslie: Listen, I have a very nervous client in there, ok? He's very upset that I'm deserting him for this new job. I have to soothe him as best I can. Now, I hope you don't mind. Tad: No, no problem.
Let me give you a hand. I'm coming in.
Leslie: Excuse me?
Tad: Get out of my way, Leslie.

Greenlee: I can't leave the country. I'm --
Mr. Smythe: You're under indictment for attempted murder. Do you have any idea how painful it is for a father to have to say that about his own daughter?
Greenlee: I'm sorry.
Mr. Smythe: Well, fortunately, thanks to your grandfather, all charges have been dropped. Apparently, the attorneys were able to make the case that you ingested some drug accidentally, so you're not responsible for any of this.
Greenlee: But if that's all over with, then you don't have anything to worry about. I'll behave myself.
Mr. Smythe: Your mother and I would like nothing more than to trust you, but you've gin us no evidence that we can.
Greenlee: I promise I won't do anything to embarrass you again.
Mr. Smythe: We simply can't take that chance. Your grandparents have had to put up with your delinquent behavior, and so now it's our turn to have to take care of you even though it disturbs our plans.

Leo: Excuse me. I forgot these.
Greenlee: Leo.
Leo: And you're Greenlee's dad. I couldn't pass up this opportunity to meet you, Mr. Smythe. You are everything that I expected.

Adam: Winifred, how could you let this happen?
Winifred: I -- Sir, I had nothing --
Adam: Who's been in and out of that dining room?
Winifred: Just the staff, sir.
Adam: Just the staff? All right, fine. Bring them all in here, every last one of them. I will not be vandalized by people I pay good money to.
Liza: Just a second. I think we should hear Winifred's side of the story before we bring the entire household staff out here. Now, when the cake was delivered, it was fine.
Winifred: I know. And you saw Harris and -- and Dale. They put it on the table in the servants' dining room.
Adam: All right, who went in there and out of there after that?
Winifred: Nobody, Sir. We all went into the kitchen. We were getting ready for the wedding. I would have noticed, sir, if a member of the staff had gone back into the dining room.
Liza: There is another door in that room that leads to the garage.
Winifred: That is what I have been trying to tell you. Someone came in from the outside.
Hayley: Someone came in from the outside.
Adam: Weren't you guarding the cake?
Man: Guarding the cake, Sir?
Adam: Yes. Is that not your responsibility?
Man: I was placing out the silverware.
Woman: I was chilling the champagne.
Adam: Well, one or both of you is lying, and so help me --
Mateo: Oh, will you stop browbeating them? You know a member of the staff is not responsible for this. You know who smashed this cake. We all know, and it's not the first time she's done it.
Adam: Winifred, that'll be all for now. We'll have more questions later. Just -- just go. No, no! Come back. Take that blasted thing out of here.

Hayley: Why can't you accept the fact that Arlene is responsible for this? It's obvious.
Adam: No, it's impossible. The servants are covering for one another. Believe me, it wouldn't be the first time.
Hayley: Arlene comes back, and the first thing she does is she smashes up your wedding cake, just like she did to us before. It's her sign to us. Something tells me she doesn't want to forgive and forget.
Mateo: Let's go home. Let's go home. Come on.
Hayley: You know what? I don't care. I don't care. She doesn't have to forgive me. After what I did, I deserve it. I deserve it.
Adam: Mateo, go ahead. Take her home, take her home. Sweetheart, try not to think about this. I'm sure it has a very simple explanation.
Hayley: Oh, oh. Oh, I know there is.
Adam: Yeah, well, we'll get to the bottom of it. I promise.
Mateo: Let's go. Come on, let's go.
Hayley: I'm tired. I've got to -- I'm very sorry. Good night.

Marian: What's happened?
Hayley: The wedding cake.
Marian: Oh, no, thank you, I couldn't.

Liza: Mother, what are you doing here?
Marian: Well, what do you think? I asked Stuart to take Junior home by himself. Now, we have got to think of a way to get this ridiculous notion out of Stuart's head before he tells somebody else.
Liza: Are we sure it's ridiculous?
Marian: Of course it's ridiculous, Liza. You know it is. Arlene is dead. I saw her with my own eyes, and so did Adam.
Liza: Well, Winifred found our wedding cake, ruined and smashed.
Marian: What? Who would have -- oh, my God.
Adam: No, no. No, it can't be. We both saw her dead.
Marian: This is just some kind of horrible, ghastly practical joke. Unless, of course, it's another one of your power plays, Adam.
Adam: Or some creation of yours to keep me from marrying Liza.
Liza: All right, all right, all right. Enough of that. We need level heads if we're going to figure out what has happened.
Adam: All right, fine, fine. But right from the top, I want it understood that Arlene is not to be considered alive because she is dead. Do you understand?
Marian: I agree with Adam on that, Liza.
Liza: All right, all right, fine. So somebody's walking around pretending to be Arlene --
Adam: Who?
Liza: For whatever reason.
Adam: Who? Who? No one knows Arlene was on that boat except Hayley and Mateo and the three of us.
Marian: Oh, no.
Liza: What, Mother?
Marian: Oh, my God. There's someone else that might suspect.
Adam: What?
Marian: Vanessa Cortlandt.
Adam: Oh.

Tad: That's it, isn't it? She's in there.
Leslie: I don't believe this. Tad, I am leaving the country. I don't have time to ease your mind about your wife's whereabouts.
Tad: Well, you better make time because you're the one who called me and told me she was outside your hotel room.
Leslie: Because I thought you had sent her. Look, I have finally accepted the fact that it is over between us. I took a job halfway around the world to make it easier for everyone, and you think I have your wife locked inside my room? I mean, don't you think that's a little silly?
Tad: At this point, I wouldn't put it past you.
Leslie: I would take objection to that, but I don't have time. You want to find your wife? Go someplace else because she isn't here.

Dixie: Uh, I should go.
David: Where? Down the hall to Leslie's room?
Dixie: No. Thanks for letting me sit here for a while.
David: I'm sorry you're upset, Dixie. I didn't mean to s anything to hurt you.
Dixie: You said exactly the right thing.
David: So, what are you going to do?
Dixie: You're the last person I should be discussing that with.
David: I'm the only person that you can discuss this with.
Dixie: Ok.
Dixie: Tad told me that he -- that Leslie had some sort of fixation on him and that it was all one-sided and nobody wanted it to stop more than he did, and I had no reason to doubt him.
David: But now you do.
Dixie: Well, I did because I just -- I don't know -- let all my fears come to the surface.
David: Well, I'm sure that's because of his history.
Dixie: Well, yeah, he has cheated on me before. Who's to say he wouldn't do it again?
David: And yet maybe he hasn't.
Dixie: I had to find out. That's why I went to see Leslie. Then you came along and -- I don't know. I think I know what my problem is.
David: I just thought it was important for you to be honest with yourself.
Dixie: Yes. This really doesn't have anything to do with Leslie. Or Tad, really. There's only one real threat my marriage, David. That's my feelings for you.

Adam: You can't be serious.
Liza: Mother, what exactly did you tell her?
Marian: Well, we had a big argument at Greenlee's loft, and I said, "the only friend that you ever had in this town was Arlene Vaughn, and no one has seen her since the night of the party on the yacht." And she said, "you mean Arlene was on the yacht?" And I said, "no, no, I didn't say she was on the yacht." She said, "but she probably was. It makes sense. She probably stole my necklace." I said, "no, I never said she was on the yacht." She said, "I've got to go call Palmer about this." And then she went, and I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to let it slip out, and --
Adam: I should have known a blabbermouth like you couldn't keep a secret for long.
Liza: Adam.
Adam: Could it be Vanessa pretending to be Arlene?
Liza: Oh, why would she go to all that trouble? She just wants her stupid necklace.
Adam: Well, one thing that we know for sure -- the secret is out, and we don't know who knows it. And we don't know who is out there, determined to do us harm.

Mateo: I'll tell you what -- we'll just get a good night's rest, huh? We'll wake up and --

Mr. Smythe: If you don't mind, I'm having a private conversation with my daughter.
Leo: Actually, it really wasn't all that private. I've been over there listening ever since you got here. By the way, kudos on beating the rap, Greenlee.
Greenlee: Leo, please leave.
Mr. Smythe: Never mind. There's nothing more to talk about. Do you have a passport handy?
Greenlee: Daddy, I can't just up and leave.
Mr. Smythe: Why not? What do you have to keep you here?
Greenlee: Nothing, I guess. This place.
Mr. Smythe: Your grandmother can send some of her staff to close it up. It'll still be here next year if you really want it.
Greenlee: Next year?
Mr. Smythe: Your mother and I have made arrangements for you to take our place in Geneva while we're off gallivanting.
Greenlee: So you're just going to dump me in Geneva.
Mr. Smythe: A companion will keep you out of trouble, an excellent psychiatrist for you to see. It'll give you the time and the space to rethink your life and get over this
Leo: Well, she may as well just stay, Daddy.
Mr. Smythe: Well, it'll be up to you, then, won't it? If you're willing to risk losing Woodruff's money, don't expect your mother and me to support our plane leaves in two hours. Pack a small bag. You can get whatever else you need when you get there. I'll see you at the airport in an hour.
Leo: Why don't you have a seat, Roger. Due to unexpected turbulence, your flight's been delayed.

Dixie: When Tad told me that there was something going on between him and Leslie, I just pounced on it, you know. I could stop feeling guilty for what was going on with us. I could blame Tad, you know he was being unfaithful, you know? He had been before, so, you know, I was off the hook.
David: But is there something going on between Tad and Leslie?
Dixie: Here's my evidence. Lipstick on Tad's collar. You know, I had to be pretty desperate to grab onto that, and -- I guess I was, you know, because -- because of what I've been feeling for you.
David: But you did say that there were phone calls.
Dixie: Yeah. Tad told me the truth, and under ordinary circumstances, I probably would have believed him. But you know, she was trying to seduce him. He didn't want to have anything to do with her. He's not guilty of anything.
David: And neither are you.
Dixie: Oh, really? You know, at the new year's party when Tad was supposedly having an affair with somebody else, I was with you. I was kissing you. I was ready to make love to you.
David: But you didn't.
Dixie: No. Because God was good to me that day. I got the biggest break of my life when Tad knocked on the door. Now I'm causing trouble when there isn't any -- you know, when I've been given another chance to be happy with my husband.
David: So now you're going to forget all about Leslie.
Dixie: Well, she's nothing to me. She's leaving town. I'm just feeling guilty. There's nothing -- there's nothing going on, you know? I just needed to take a step back and take a breath like you suggested.
David: I just wanted you to think clearly before you spoke to Leslie. So now you're convinced that Tad isn't capable of being unfaithful?
Dixie: Well, he's not perfect, and neither am I. I just shouldn't imagine things that aren't there.
David: Well, then I guess there's nothing standing between you and your going back to Tad and living happily ever after, right?
Dixie: I should go.
David: Dixie? Good-bye.

Tad: Leslie, come on! All right, she's not in the lobby. I checked.
Leslie: So she went home.
Tad: I called. She's not there.
Leslie: Oh for heaven's sake, Tad. What is your problem? Does she not have a name tag on her underwear?
Tad: Don't joke. Because I swear to God, if there's something you're not telling me --
Leslie: I didn't do anything to Dixie.
Tad: Did you say anything?
Leslie: No! Would you just relax, Tad? If Dixie ever finds out about us, it won't be from me.
