ALL MY CHILDREN

JANUARY 24, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Hank: You don't feel the same way about us that I do.

Tad: I don't want this divorce.
Dixie: Well, I do.

Ryan: Some idiot just trashed my bike and nearly killed me.
J.R.: That would be me.

Mateo: Why are you drunk?
Chris: She could have told me about the boy.

Judge: Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you are hereby charged to find Erica Kane either guilty or not guilty in the murder of Mary Frances Stone.

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Liza: Oh, Ryan, I'm sorry I'm running late, but just stay there.
Ryan: Listen, if -- if you're busy, you can -- you know, we can do this another time.
Liza: No, no, no. I want to see you before next year's Crystal Ball.
Ryan: I'm here.
Liza: Ok, I'll be right there.

Adam: You're going out?
Liza: Oh. I thought you were through checking on me.
Adam: More like an observation. You know Tad and Dixie are on their way over here right now.
Liza: Oh, you know, whatever they want to talk about, it probably doesn't involve me.
Adam: Well, why don't we ask them.
Liza: Oh.
Adam: Well, what's so important I had to postpone my 9:00?
Dixie: Well, Tad and I are going to the Caribbean.
Liza: Oh. Congratulations.
Adam: Why "congratulations"?
Liza: Well, I figured it's a second or third honeymoon?
Tad: No, actually, it's a third divorce.
Liza: Well, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

[At SOS]
J.R.: Hey, you haven't seen Hayley Santos around here anywhere, have you?
Ryan: No, he hasn't. You know why? Because she's been avoiding this place since her and Mateo have been on the outs.
J.R.: Oh.
Ryan: Haven't been keeping up with family much?
J.R.: I've been busy.
Ryan: Busy? What, playing, like, demolition man? So tell me the truth, you were going to hit Hayley up for the cash you owe me, right?
J.R.: Actually, I'm looking for a job.
Ryan: Here? No, you weren't. You're too young to serve booze. Don't lie to me, Kid. Don't even try.
J.R.: Don't call me kid. You know, I don't have to take that from you.
Ryan: Oh, well, actually, you kind of do. You know what I mean? Because you trashed my bike, remember? You massacred it? So here's the thing -- either you sweat for the money that you owe me, or I tell the court that you broke probation to take an underage girl on a drunken joy ride and then you just trashed my wheels.

[Phone rings]
Chris: Hello?
Anna: What? You sound so far away.
Chris: Who is this?
Anna: Do you have a bit of a hangover?
Chris: Oh. What do you want?
Anna: I've been waiting for you for 40 minutes.
Chris: Oh. Sorry.
Anna: Yeah, you should be. You wanted info on Frankie Stone's murder and you stand me up?
Chris: All right what do you got?
Anna: If you want that, you drag your butt out of bed, staple your eyes open if you have to, and get over here. Bye.

Erica: Well, it doesn't mean anything, Honey.
Bianca: But, Mom, only one page is missing. Why? Why that page?
Erica: Well, I don't know. I mean, I guess because someone wanted it or something spilled it or, I don't know, somebody hated the sonnet.
Bianca: Or maybe Frankie cut it out as some kind of message for me.
Erica: Honey, don't do that. Don't do that to yourself. Just put that right out of your mind.

Erica: Opal, hi! Oh, what great timing.
Opal: Hey, there. Hi, girlfriend. No sign from the courthouse yet, huh?
Erica: Well, you know what they say, the longer they deliberate, the better for me.
Opal: Hmm. Well, that's the spirit. Still, I wish we could just sprout wings and bust out of this place, fly off to Paris or Tahiti or someplace.
[Bianca focuses on Opal's butterfly pin and starts to remember - - ]
Erica: Bianca?
Bianca: Frankie --
[Bianca sighs]
Opal: Bianca, Honey, what is it?
Bianca: A memory, sort of, about Frankie.
Opal: Frankie? Really?
Erica: Bianca, what brought this on?
Erica: Bianca. Honey, you are just stressed about the sonnet.
Bianca: I don't know how, but I have to make myself remember it. I have to remember it. It's so close. It's like I can almost --
Erica: But, Bianca, don't!
Erica: Just -- please, just promise me that you will stop, ok? Stop trying to force memories that aren't even really even there.
Opal: She's right, Sweetie Pie. I mean, what are you going to get from all this brain straining except headaches?
Erica: Exactly. Honey, look, you want to do something for me? Please, go get something to eat, ok? Just get out of here and eat something.
Bianca: What if the jury comes back with a verdict while I'm gone?
Opal: I'll call you. Not to worry.
Bianca: Ok. I'll get some lunch.
Erica: Oh, that's wonderful. You just take your mind off everything, ok? Call Leo. Why don't you call Leo?
Bianca: Ok.
Erica: Ok.
Bianca: I'll see you later.
Erica: All right.
Bianca: Good-bye.
Opal: Bye-bye, Honey.

Opal: Well, what set her off?
Erica: Your pin.
Opal: My butterfly?
Erica: Frankie was wearing a butterfly design on her T-shirt the night that she was killed, ok? Just get rid of that thing.
Opal: Well, I can't do that. This is a cherished gift.
Erica: Well, I don't care. throw it away.
Opal: I can see to it that Bianca never sees it again, but you know, I've got to remind you, this isn't the only butterfly in Pine Valley.
Erica: Well, unfortunately, I don't have any control over that.
Opal: My point exactly. And besides which, spring is just around the corner. Before you know it, there's going to be the real thing flying all over the place.
Erica: Oh, no. Opal -- look, it is time to take drastic action.
Opal: What means?
Erica: We have got to get Bianca out of Pine Valley, away from here, far away from this town and this trial as we possibly can.
Opal: Honey, she won't go.
Erica: She won't have any choice because I'm going to get her out of town no matter what!

Liza: Have you two forgotten everything that you've been through together?
Dixie: Of course - all right ,we're both miserable.
Dixie: And why are we getting this lecture/pep talk?
Adam: Hey, don't look at me.
Liza: I just don't think that you should lose sight of what you've got.
Dixie: What difference does it make to you, Liza?
Tad: I'm starting to wonder that myself.
Liza: Oh! How many times could I have divorced him? And I didn't, and why? Why not?
Tad: I don't know. Is this a trick question?
Dixie: It doesn't matter.
Liza: Because of you two. You made me realize that "happily ever after" happens, that it can be a reality in my life.
Dixie: Well, yeah, you're happy until the next problem comes along and slaps you in the face.
Liza: Well, you can't just throw everything away because you're too lazy to work on it.
Dixie: How dare you.
Liza: No, you know what? I meant it exactly the way it sounded.
Dixie: We didn't come here for your approval, Liza. Or Adam's, either.
Liza: "We"?
Dixie: I didn't come here for your approval. All right? I came here to find out if it's ok if J.R. stays here with you while we're away.
Liza: J.R.?
Dixie: Yes. And if it's a problem, I can make other arrangements.
Adam: No, no, no. We'd love for J.R. to stay here. For good, if you like.
Liza: Adam, I think we should discuss this.
Adam: This is J.R.'s house, too, Liza.
Dixie: I am not asking for J.R. to move in with you.
Tad: Honestly, Liza, these divorces take all of five minutes.
Dixie: And when I get back home, J.R. will come and move back with me.
Adam: Yes, of course, of course. But in time, if you change your mind and think J.R. would be better off here, we'd love to have him.
Liza: Well, I'm so glad we figured all that out. Thank you for all the discussion time. I'm leaving. Have a fabulous divorce trip. I'll call you later.

Adam: I have nothing to say. I don't give a damn what your marital status is.
Tad: Oh, thank you. We appreciate that.
Dixie: You know, I asked J.R. to meet us here. He should be here in a few minutes.
Adam: Yeah, well, I'll ask Winifred to make up his room.
Dixie: Thank you.

Dixie: Can you believe her?
Tad: She does have a point about one thing -- when it comes to this marriage, you and I are the only two people on the earth who could tear it apart. And I know I've done more than my fair share of that in the past few weeks, but I'm also the guy that doesn't want to throw in the towel. There's got to be a way I can convince you that you and I belong together.

Ryan: I won't tell anybody as long as you don't try and pass me any money from Chandler. Daddy's not going to buy you out of this one.
J.R.: Look, I'm not going to ask my dad for any money. I swear.
Ryan: Ok. Well, then it'll stay our little secret.
J.R.: Thanks. No, really, I mean that. Thank you.

Anna: Ah.
Chris: Can we make this fast?
Anna: Fast? You've got places to be looking like that?
Chris: You'd be surprised.
Anna: I got you a hair of the dog.
Chris: So what do you got on Frankie Stone's murder?
Anna: You're right about Vanessa Cortlandt. She's not the airhead she pretends to be.
Chris: So what'd you find out?
Anna: That she has perfected a very useful smokescreen. I watched her do some pretty savvy manipulation using that ditsy act of hers.
Chris: Did you get a chance to talk to her about Frankie?
Anna: No. The subject of her niece didn't come up because, apparently, her marriage is falling apart.
Chris: Totally unconnected to Frankie's death and the trial?
Anna: Oh, yeah. Lady Cortlandt has admitted to dallying with the chauffeur, whereupon the Cortlandt gravy train screeched to a halt. That's a lot of metaphors --
Chris: Oh, please, please, please, stop. Just stay on it, ok?
Anna: Yeah. Why don't you take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

Bianca: Hi. I'm sorry to interrupt.
Anna: No, you're not.
Chris: You're not interrupting.
Bianca: I hope this doesn't seem weird. I could use your help with something.
Anna: My help?
Bianca: Yeah. I know that we barely know each other, but I understand that you had amnesia, didn't you?
Anna: Yes.
Bianca: And you got your memory back.
Anna: Yes, I did.
Bianca: Well, that's why I came to you. I can't remember what happened the night Frankie, my girlfriend, was murdered. I get these flashes, but nothing concrete comes back, and I really need to remember. With your help, I think I might be able to.
Bianca: I can't be hypnotized without my mother's consent, Dr. McMillan wouldn't think of it.
Anna: And of course Erica refused.
Bianca: Yeah, she wouldn't even consider it. She doesn't want me to know the truth, but I think I might be able to remember something important.
Anna: You think you know something that could help clear your mother?
Bianca: It's possible. I could be the only person alive who knows what really happened that night.
Anna: Should we be having this conversation in front of your mother's attorney?
Chris: Ahem.
Anna: Well, I mean, should we?
Bianca: Well, I think that Chris agrees, don't you? I mean, you think that Anna should help me?
Chris: I think if she can help, I'm all for it.
[Phone rings]

Chris: Excuse me.
Anna: Mm-hmm.
Chris: Stamp.
Erica: Chris, it's Erica. Can you get over here right now?
Chris: I'm in the middle of something right now.
Erica: This can't wait. Please?
Chris: All right, I'll be right there.

Chris: I'm sorry. I've got to take care of some business. You'll be ok?
Bianca: Fine.

Liza: Hey.
Ryan: Hey.
Liza: Oh, thanks for waiting.
Ryan: Well, you know, Liza, we really didn't have to meet. I'm not going to forget about the playground. It's a memorial to Gillian. I'll take care of it.
Liza: Oh, I don't like this.
Ryan: What? You can't possibly mean getting back together with Adam?
Liza: You're still angry about it.
Ryan: Honestly, Liza, I really haven't given it a lot of thought.
Liza: I value our friendship.
Ryan: Well, you've got other friends.
Liza: Really? Hmm, quick, name three. Even if you could, none of them -- listen, you matter to me. I care for you. And I don't want to lose you.

Dixie: You know what? You don't have to come with me to get this divorce. Why don't you just sign the papers, and I'll take care of it.
Tad: No. No. I told you, Dixie, I'm not going to end it like that.
Dixie: I've given this a lot of thought, Tad.
Tad: So give it some more thought, please. Please, I am begging you. Don't do this, ok? Don't rush into something like this.
Dixie: You've said that so many times in so many different ways.
Tad: Yeah, and every time I say it, I was right, ok? I'm right now. I know I am. I'm not -- look, I'm not standing here denying that we don't have, like, huge problems, ok? And sometimes, you know, we veer off the track. But the truth is we always find one another.
Dixie: And you have said that numerous occasions, as well, and you've been right until the next time.
Tad: Dixie, I messed up. I don't know what more I can say --
Dixie: And I mess up, too, and we keep messing up. And why do y think that is? I think it's because we're not really right for each other. You know, not like the forever kind of right? And I think we just keep saying it because we want it to be.
Tad: Well, Liza seems to think we have it all.
Dixie: Leslie Coulson did, as well, and look what she did.
Tad: Yeah, and David Hayward. Dixie, we got something. I mean, we've managed to dodge a hell of a lot.
Dixie: Maybe that's why I'm so tired.
Tad: So stop thinking.
Dixie: Hey, hey. That's a bad idea.
Tad: Well, can you sit down for a second? Please? It's not such a bad idea. Just turn off your mind, ok? Stop pondering all the "would haves" and "should haves" and the plans and the regrets, ok? Can't you just let yourself feel for a minute? I mean, how does it feel to be sitting here with me, the two of us together? I mean, it's perfect. Look, I mean, we're in the Chandler mausoleum, where it all started, right? You remember. Adam treating you like some kind of brood mare because he wanted an heir for his dynasty.
Dixie: Yes, that's a lovely memory, Tad. I'm being driven crazy and thrown in an insane asylum and --
Tad: Not that part.
Dixie: Yeah, I remember you and Nico and Cecily getting me out.
Tad: And you remember how it felt, right? How it felt when you first realized that I would do anything, anything for you. I swear to God, I still would. I mean, when I fell in love with you, I didn't have a choice. I certainly, you know, I didn't, you know, I never dreamed we'd have a future together. I didn't have any expectations.
Dixie: You were the best thing that ever happened to me. Ok? And I will always love you for that.
Tad: But it doesn't have to change.
Dixie: I am not letting -- I've done that before. I'm not letting you talk me out of something that I know deep in my heart is the right thing to do. I mean, how many times have we broken up and how much pain has it caused us? Every time it gets worse and worse, and I don't want to end up hating you. I just want to keep all these nice, good memories and nice feelings and walk away. Can't we do that?

Erica: Opal, I'm sorry that Hank is gone. But we have to protect Bianca. You can take time away from the Glamorama, can't you?
Opal: Well, sure, but --
Erica: Well, then you can take her on a long trip. Opal, you've got to take her away from here, as far away from anything that will remind her of this trial as possible.
Opal: But, Erica, the child is within a hair's breadth of remembering whatever it is she's buried. Who's to say it's not going to all come flooding back before we can get her out of town?
Erica: It doesn't have to be that way, Opal. Not if we help. Opal, for heaven's sakes, I mean, Bianca's life depends on this.
Opal: I told you I would do whatever you need me to do, all right?
Erica: Ok, then. We have got to make this happen, Opal. We can't afford to fail.
Opal: I'll go make the arrangements right now, but I'm telling you, it isn't going to be easy to convince Bianca.
[Opal leaves]

Erica: Thank you for coming.
Chris: No problem.
Erica: Chris, are -- are you hung over?
Chris: Let's just say it was a long night.
Erica: Kendall had no right to say to you what she did, you know, about your killing Ryan's father.
Chris: Yeah, well, my situation with Ryan is difficult, to say the least.
Erica: I can see that. Chris, do you think that you could put that aside for a while?
Chris: Sure. Sure, what do you need?
Erica: Chris, I need you to help me get Bianca out of town.
Chris: Out of -- what are you thinking of doing?
Erica: This could get ugly. I may have to send Bianca back to the clinic.
Chris: I don't think that's the way to go.
Erica: No, please don't question my decision. Because no matter how hard it is, it is for Bianca's own good.
Chris: Yeah, well, she just might disagree.
Erica: No, you can't understand, Chris.
Chris: Oh, I'm incapable of understanding now?
Erica: That's right. You can't understand because you don't have a child who depends on you to do the right thing all the time.

Bianca: I went over to Opal's, which is where Frankie was staying, and I -- I walked into her room and she was in bed and a boy was with her.
Anna: That's all you remember?
Bianca: Yeah, that's it. I woke up in the hospital and they told me that I had been riding, that I had been thrown from my horse and that I had a minor concussion.
Anna: Well, that could account for your memory loss.
Bianca: Yeah, except that Frankie died during the hours that I can't remember. I know that I saw something or I know something. I get these flashes and I get nervous and sick headaches.
Anna: Well, that's because you feel pressured to bring it all back, but you can't.
Bianca: I don't know why I'm blocking it. Is that the way it was for you?
Anna: Yeah, oh, absolutely, yes. I mean, I would get these -- bits of memory would suddenly just flash into my head, confusing me. You know, my sister tried to help, but most of my memory was triggered by my daughter. Just hearing her voice.
Bianca: It brought things back?
Anna: Oh, yeah, yeah. It brought back feelings, you know, the love I felt for her. And I suppose that was a large part of what I was blocking because I had lost my memory in an explosion that had killed her father.
Bianca: Well, the only person who could bring back feelings like that for me would be Frankie and it's too late.

Ryan: I remember you being scared for Colby. And yet, you didn't want her growing up with Adam.
Liza: Well, things change, people change.
Ryan: Tell me about it.
Liza: Adam is different.
Ryan: He's responsible for our child dying.
Liza: Ryan, it was a miscarriage. It was an accident.
Ryan: He was badgering you and you were fighting. That's why you fell, Liza.
Liza: It was an accident.
Ryan: All right, if believing that makes you feel better, that's fine. But you better do a hell of a job protecting Colby because he has already screwed up J.R.

J.R.: You wanted to see me?
Dixie: Yes. Thanks for coming, Sweetie. Tad and I are going to the Caribbean, as you know, and I thought it would be nice for you to stay here with Adam.
J.R.: What's the drill? You sign a few papers and then Frisbee your wedding rings out into the surf? Is that how it works?
Dixie: Very funny.
Tad: Something like that.
J.R.: Sure, no problem. Just don't bring me one of those "my parents got a quickie island divorce and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" shirts.
Dixie: Don't worry about it. It's not going to happen. I have a list for you, though.
J.R.: Oh, for the love of -- Mom.
Dixie: It's not a "brush your teeth, wash behind your ears" list. J.R. is thinking about getting a job.
J.R.: It's not just thinking. I am.
Adam: Good, that's great. You can't start too soon.
Dixie: Oh, here it is -- duh. It's a list of some places I thought you might try.
J.R.: "Myrtle Fargate"? You're kidding, right?
Dixie: What are you talking about? You love Myrtle.
J.R.: Mom, I'm not working in a dress shop. "Opal"?
Dixie: I know you think working at the Glamorama is beneath you, but they have a very nice storeroom there.
Tad: The Glamorama was pretty good to me once upon a time.
J.R.: After that -- that mess with Frankie Stone, do I really have to draw you guys a picture?
Adam: No, son. We get it.
J.R.: Thanks, but I think I can get a job on my own.
Dixie: Fine.
Adam: You won't have to. I have a perfect position for you in my new corporate finance division.
J.R.: No. No way in hell am I working for you.

[Knock on door]
Palmer: Oh. Oh, it's you.
Opal: Yeah, I -- I just need a second of your time, please. I'd like you to -- well, I'm here to ask you to pick Petey up after school this afternoon and to look after him for a few days.
Palmer: Oh, throwing over our child for your Las Vegas wannabe?
Opal: I beg your pardon?
Palmer: Some cheap crooner looks at you twice, and boom, it's good-bye motherhood.
Opal: Where do you get off, you sanctimonious old snake in the grass?
F.Y.I., I am going to the aid of my best girlfriend, ok? Erica needs me to help with Bianca and I can't have Petey dragging along.
Palmer: Oh, oh.
Opal: Oh, yeah, and here I thought you were so sincere about feeling like Erica was one of the few people in the world you honestly cared about.
Palmer: I do, yes, it's true, I do. Of course I do, yes, and I'll be happy to look after Peter.
Opal: Well, thank you. And I don't want Vanessa corrupting him, either, and that means no stuffing him with candy just to keep him out of her snarly old hair.
Palmer: No danger of that.
Opal: Yeah, well, I think I better talk to her myself.
Palmer: Well, she isn't here. Our marriage is kaput.

Chris: You're --you're actually prepared to have Bianca committed against her will?
Erica: I'll do anything to keep her safe.
Chris: Erica, she is not sick. She is not incompetent. You cannot commit someone --
Erica: Chris, I stood by once before and watched her almost kill herself with anorexia. Now, I won't do that again. I'm not going to see her hurt like that.
Chris: Look, so no matter what happens, we'll just see her through it.
Erica: No, I can't afford to wait until maybe it's too late. I have to take action now, Chris. In fact, I'm thinking that maybe the best thing to do is even give Opal temporary guardianship.
Chris: Isn't that kind of drastic?
Erica: Well, nothing's too drastic if it keeps Bianca safe.
Chris: What?
[Phone rings]
Chris: Excuse me.
Erica: Mm-hmm.

Chris: Stamp. Thank you.

Erica: What? What is it?
Chris: Jury's reached a verdict.

Opal: So you found out, huh? Found out your chauffeur was making Vanessa's engine purr?
Palmer: Go on. You knew that Vanessa and Larry were, you know --
Opal: Much to my disgust, I did, yes.
Palmer: And you didn't use it against her? You didn't rub my face in it?
Opal: Well, Palmer, I guess I just didn't have the heart.

Adam: It's not as if I'm offering you a free ride.
Tad: On the other hand, there is something to be said for being a self-made man, like you, Adam.
Adam: Yes, as a matter of fact, there is. Takes a lot of imagination and drive to work your way up from the bottom.
J.R.: And you think I can't cut it?
Adam: Son, I'm offering you an after-school job. That's about as close to the bottom as you can get. You don't have to bite the hand that offers it.
J.R.: Fine. You guys figure it out, ok?

[Adam sighs]
Tad: Bravo. What is your problem? Why can't you give your own son a break?
Adam: That's what I was trying to do.
Tad: No, what you were doing was stifling him.
Adam: Don't tell me how to deal with my son.
Tad: Well, somebody's got to tell you how to deal with him.
Adam: You had your chance to be a role model to J.R. I don't think he was impressed.
Tad: Oh, and you did impress him, is that it?
Dixie: Oh, guys, come on, please.
Tad: No, wait, just -- just for the record, all right? I just want to say one thing, ok? I don't care what happens between you and me. If J.R. calls me for anything, I'm going to be there for him, and no Caribbean divorce is going to change that.
Dixie: Are you done? Look, I -- this is not a contest between you two. It's obvious J.R.'s having a lot of difficulty with you and I splitting up.
Tad: Yeah, well, he's not the only one, is he?
Dixie: Can we just all three pull together for the mutual benefit of our son and see if we can help him out, just put him first? Or would you rather see him turn to drugs again?
Tad: No, of course not.
Adam: I will always act in J.R.'S best interest.

Liza: I wish I could make you understand.
Ryan: Hey, we all settle, Liza. You've just convinced yourself that Adam's a new man.
Liza: You know, I wouldn't go that far. I mean, he doesn't know where I am this morning. I didn't tell him I was meeting you, and this is all perfectly innocent.
Ryan: So, wait a second. He's changed, but not enough for you to trust him.
Liza: I just don't want to cause any problems.
Ryan: Well, this should last a long time.
Liza: You know, speaking of lasting a long time, Tad and Dixie came over to the house to let us know they're getting divorced.
Ryan: Wow. Another couple bites the dust.
Liza: Yeah, you know? And this couple, this perfect "till death do us part" couple, you know. And I have to be honest with you -- I freaked a little bit.
Ryan: Well, it's their decision.
Liza: Yeah, but, you know, they gave me hope. They made me realize that old sins can be covered over and that broken hearts can be patched together.
Ryan: Well, now you know it's all a lie. Welcome to real life.
Liza: No. This made me realize I have to keep trying.
Ryan: It's your life.
Liza: Yeah, you know, I am no finished miracle. Neither is he.
Ryan: Actually, he is a power-hungry control freak.
Liza: He has good qualities. I know they rarely surface, but he's loving and loyal.
Ryan: And he's ruthless and immoral.
Liza: And, you know, he has lasted through a lot because he's strong and determined. He loves me and Colby.
Ryan: You deserve a lot better than Adam Chandler.-

[Phone rings]
Bianca: Oh, my God. Already? Ok. All right, I'm coming. Ok, I'll be over there.
Anna: What is it?
Bianca: It's -- it's the jury. They have a verdict.

Liza: Whoa, whoa -- where you going?
Ryan: Well, you heard her. They have a verdict.
Liza: Yeah, but what do you care about Erica's trial?
Ryan: I don't. But this is going to keep Chris Stamp busy while I find out his real story.

Liza: Oh -- I'm glad you guys are still here.
Tad: Yeah, I'm afraid it's a little late to lock us in the west wing.
Liza: I just wanted to say that your decisions are your business, and I apologize for overreacting.
Dixie: Thank you. Apology accepted.
Tad: Actually, it was rather flattering.
J.R.: So you guys are taking off?
Tad: Yeah, I'm afraid it's about that time.
Dixie: Be good, ok? Give me a hug.
J.R.: She keeps thinking that I'm 5 years old.
Dixie: It's not true. As if I could.
Tad: Just remember that, you know, we're always behind you, no matter what.
J.R.: Whatever, Dude.
Dixie: We'll see you soon, ok?
J.R.: Sure.
Adam: I'll walk you to the door.

Liza: Just a second.
J.R.: Ok.
Liza: I think you and I need to have a little talk. I'm not experienced with having a teenager in the home. I think that we should lay some ground rules.
J.R.: It's your house.
Liza: Yeah, well, I'm concerned about Colby.
J.R.: Hey, no, look. Me and -- me and Blondie, we're cool. Don't worry about it.
Liza: Colby's had a lot to deal with this year that she doesn't understand. And if I catch you doing drugs or anything illegal, even questionable, around her, the cops will have you so deep that not even Adam will be able to pull you out.

Palmer: So you wanted to prolong our marriage.
Opal: Well, I figured that sooner or later, you'd have to wise up and give her the boot.
Palmer: Yeah, I suppose so.
Opal: Yeah. Of course, you should have booted her out eons ago. I mean, that woman is colder than sleet and just as mean-spirited. And as Hank would say, we are all part of a big heart. And unless we are pumping to make it stronger, then we deserve to be bypassed.
Palmer: Tell me he really didn't say that.
Opal: Well, those are my words, but that's the gist of a very, very poetic and meaningful song lyric that he wrote just before he moved on.
Palmer: Hank-Panky's gone?
Opal: I told him that I thought he should be sharing his musical gifts with the world, yes.
Palmer: I have to make a phone call. Oh, yes, I'll be very happy to take care of Peter. I'll pick him up after school.
Opal: Yeah, 3:00.
Palmer: Mm-hmm. I can handle that.
Opal: Thanks.
Palmer: Mm-hmm. Give my love to Erica.

[Palmer dials the phone]
Palmer: Yes, Palmer Cortlandt here. Now, about that tour of Hank Pelham's? Mm-hmm. Well, I want you to extend it indefinitely.

Ryan: Let's see what you're hiding, Stamp.
Ryan: Check book. "Myrtle Fargate, 'Pine Valley Bulletin,' Lacey's." Nothing, nothing, nothing.
[Ryan finds a note pad]
Ryan: That's my birthday. Why the hell does he give a damn about that?

Chris: Your honor?
Erica: Chris, don't. Let's just get this over with.
Judge: What is it, Mr. Stamp?
Chris: Your honor, I have a rather unorthodox request.
Judge: We're about to admit the jury here to hear the verdict. Bailiff?
Chris: Your honor, if justice is truly to be served in this case, you must let me put one last witness on that stand.
Erica: Chris.
Chris: I want Bianca Montgomery to testify.
