ALL MY CHILDREN

JULY 17, 2000

Leo: Leo and Becca's first date, take two.
Becca: I'm really sorry about last night. You know, it was a complete mix-up. Petey and his friends weren't at the miniature golf course.
Leo: Really?
Becca: Yeah. It was a false alarm. He was at home with Opal the entire time. I guess Greenlee wanted you all to herself last night.
Leo: Greenlee?
Becca: She was with you at the Valley Inn when I got there. Who else would have the nerve to call me pretending to be Opal, or the desire?
Leo: No, Greenlee isn't into me, Becca. She's just too wrapped up in Ryan right now.
Becca: I wouldn't put it past her. Not after betting you could deflower me.
Leo: Whoa. Whoa. Could we please banish that to the forbidden zone? Please?
Becca: Poof, it's banished.
Leo: Thank you.

Young man: Zack, you recognize that little slice of heaven?
Zack: It's her.
Zack: Miss Cyber Virgin.

Marian: It's a little disconcerting to think that young men will bet on a girl losing her virginity.
Scott: Exactly. It's war. And now that I've done it, I just --
Marian: What, are you having second thoughts, darling?
Scott: Not about Becca. Look, I'm being like Adam, but I just -- I don't know if I got the right stuff. You know, and I don't want to end up hurting Becca.
Marian: You're going to be showing Leo up for the scoundrel that he truly is.
Scott: But I'm being just as scoundrelish.
Marian: Oh, no, you're not, because Leo was involved in the plot that killed your father. That man contaminates everything he touches. And, plus, you'll be saving Becca from getting her heart broken.
Scott: So you're saying that the ends justify the means.
Marian: What I'm saying is if it meant for me to get Stuart back again, I would sell my soul to the devil.

Arlene: Not going to say hello?
Stuart: Hello. You look familiar. Kind of like Annie Oakley.
Arlene: Well, I can pack a pistol, especially if it's loaded.
Marilyn: Sorry, we don't have any more beer. That's the last of it. Stuart, would you go get the new delivery? It's on the house.
Stuart: Yeah, ok. I'll be right back.

Marilyn: So, what's with the corny getup? You with one of those rodeos? One came through here last month. It's the sorriest show in the west.
Arlene: Are you Marilyn?
Marilyn: Yeah.
Arlene: We spoke earlier today on the phone. I'm Arlene.
Marilyn: You're the lady that knows Stuart?
Arlene: Yeah. Shh, shh. That's right.
Marilyn: Who is he to you, anyway?
Arlene: Well, he's kind of a distant cousin. Now, what's Stuart doing in this --
Marilyn: Dump?
Arlene: Yeah. No offense.
Marilyn: No, none taken. Stuart wandered by here a few months ago. His trailer broke down, and he and his wife came in here to get some help.
Arlene: Wife?
Marilyn: Yeah. Esther. You do know he's married, right?
Arlene: Well, it must've slipped my mind.
Marilyn: Yeah, well, Esther's kind of easy to forget.
Arlene: So, what are Esther and Stuart doing in this --
Marilyn: Godforsaken hellhole? Well, according to Esther, they were on their way to Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows, and -- well, Stuart doesn't Stuart remember getting hitched the first time. You see, he's got amnesia. It's like I said on the phone.
Arlene: Well, that's one mystery solved.

Dixie: Knock, knock.
David: Dixie. You didn't have to come back.
Dixie: Well, I said I would. Iced tea with mint.
David: Thank you.
Dixie: You're welcome. What's that? Is that Dimitri's file?
David: It's as baffling as any case I've ever come across. I've charted Dimitri's illness from its inception. I reviewed Alex's course of treatment. And in light of the progress he initially made, the results and his current condition make no sense.

Dimitri: What do you mean Alex is on her way here?
Edmund: Dimitri, Alex has a right to know the truth, ok? Now, I already filled her in on some of the blanks.
Dimitri: You had no right!
Edmund: She has -- she didn't believe her mother was a psychotic, so I told her that Charlotte kidnapped you and that you didn't kill yourself.
Dimitri: All right, you call her and you tell her you were mistaken, that Charlotte wanted to hurt her, lied to give her false hope.

Alex: Edmund? Hello? Who's there?

Marilyn: So, Arlene, you came all this way to see Stuart, yet you didn't let on that you know him. What gives?
Arlene: Well, Marilyn, the situation's a little complicated.
Marilyn: Oh, but he'd be so primed. You're a face from home. That's all he talks about.
Arlene: Really?
Marilyn: Yeah. He's such a sweetie. I bet he's got tons of people wondering where he is. If you brought him home, you would be a hero.

Adam: Arlene, what is it with this blind man's bluff? Where are we?
Arlene: Oh, would you just be patient. I have a surprise in store for you.
Adam: I hate surprises. I'm going to take this damn blindfold off.
Arlene: No, wait, wait. Watch your step.
Adam: Oh --
Arlene: Ok. First, you got to make a wish. What do you want most in the whole wide world?
Adam: The one thing I want is the one thing you can't give me.
Arlene: Oh, don't be so sure. Now, hold still. Ready?
Adam: Come on, come on, come on --
Arlene: This is all for you, Sweetie.
Adam: Stuart? Stuart. It's really you.
Stuart: Adam!
Adam: Oh --
Adam: My God, it's really you!
Stuart: How'd you find me?
Adam: It wasn't me. It was Arlene -- my wife, my angel. She's given me my brother back.
Arlene: Happy?
Adam: For this, I will love you forever.

Marilyn: It's just like one of those sappy movies that my dad watches on late night, you know, where half of the world has amnesia and the other half has this, like, evil twin somewhere.
Arlene: My man's going to love me forever.

Dixie: Dimitri's file says what? Is he getting worse?
David: Well, the blood work shows a deviation from the disease's prior course.
Dixie: Well, that could be a sign that he's recovering, right?
David: Unfortunately, I don't interpret the data that way. It's a medical anomaly. If I can manage Dimitri's case, cure his illness, I'd be written up in every major medical journal.
Dixie: That's a little cold.
David: I'm a scientist, Dixie. It's my responsibility to divorce the illness from the patient.
Dixie: How do you do that? How do you look at somebody who's dying and stay unemotional?
David: I won't allow my personal feelings to cloud my professional judgment.
Dixie: But when you were treating my heart condition, you cared. When I lost Bess, you cared. I could tell.
David: How?
Dixie: Well, your eyes gave you away.
David: You're a special case.

Erica: Dixie, why aren't you outside at your desk to announce me? And, David, you've been neglecting me. I want you to tell me why.

Dimitri: Alex has been through hell. And, Edmund, I do not have the strength to fight you. Please, please respect my wishes.

Alex: Hi. There you are.
Edmund: Hi.
Alex: I got your note. Why didn't you wake me up?
Edmund: I figured you needed your rest.
Alex: This isn't over, is it?
Edmund: It's over. Your past, Anna Devane,
your mother -- Alex: No. You said that my mother -- that Charlotte kidnapped Dimitri. He didn't walk into the sea. Why don't you tell me about that.

Leo: You know, Becca, maybe this shouldn't count this as our first official date.
Becca: No?
Leo: We're still going to do dinner and a movie, right?
Waiter: There you go. 12 Bluepoint oysters.
Becca: Uh --
Leo: Thank you very much.
Becca: We didn't order any oysters.
Waiter: Oh, yeah, they're compliments of those gentlemen at the next table. My money's on you.
Becca: Uh -- what's that all about?
Leo: I don't know. Who cares? Let's just eat them.
Becca: I've never had oysters before. How do you eat them?
Leo: You don't eat them.

Zack: Whoo!

Leo: You sip them, like this.

Young man: Whoo, daddy!
Zack: All right!

Marian: So, now that you got the Becca web site up and running, what's your next move?
Scott: I'm going to track how Du Pres acts around Becca -- you know, foods they eat, jokes they share. Then when I go home, I'm going to post them on the web site under the screen name I made for Leo, "Victor," at VirginVictor.com.
Marian: So you're going to be baiting the trap, right?
Scott: Exactly. And when Becca gets tipped to the web site and sees her dates dissed in detail, the cursor will lead straight to Leo.
Marian: So she'll dump Leo and turn straight you.
Scott: Sounds cold, doesn't it? But in cyberspace, no one can hear you scream. I'm off. Thanks for the drink.
Marian: Not at all, darling. And good luck.
Scott: Thank you.
Marian: Ok. Bye-bye.

Jack: Well, now, what is wrong with this picture? A lovely woman like yourself having a drink all alone.
Marian: Well, thanks for the "lovely," Gorgeous. Scott just left me. Please, join me, won't you?
Jack: Well, I will for just a minute. I have to meet Erica here. She should be here any time.
Marian: Well, I hope you have something happy to drink about.
Jack: As a matter of fact, I do. I think I have some news that's going to make Erica light up like a Christmas tree.
Marian: Well, good.

David: Erica, I've already explained to you why I was going to be busy.
Erica: Well, you can make it up to me. You can take me to the Valley Inn. I'm actually meeting Jack there for drinks first. He has news for me about Bianca. But you could join me afterwards for dinner.
David: I'm afraid I won't be able to make it.
Erica: David, I've come all the way over here to invite you to spend some time with me, and you're refusing?
David: I can't get away, Erica. This case is very special.
Erica: More special than I am?
David: I'm not going to fall in that trap. Dixie, would you please file this for me?
Dixie: Of course.
David: Thank you.
Dixie: I'm just going to call Tad and see if the family has any news.
David: All right, go ahead.
Erica: Well, it's after 6:00. Time to close up shop.
David: Erica, I don't want to fight with you, ok? But I can't break away right now. There's a patient's life which is at stake.
Erica: Well, who is this mystery patient, anyway? I mean, when I walked in, you and Dixie just seemed to be just shooting the breeze. That didn't seem like a life-and-death scenario.
David: Erica, Erica, please try to understand this, ok? A man's life is in danger right now, and if I can't save him, he's going to die. So I have to try, ok? Please try to understand that. Trust me. If you had half a clue, you would want the same thing.

Edmund: Alex, I don't know what more you want to hear.
Alex: The truth. Whatever you know. Why did Charlotte go after Dimitri?
Edmund: Well, she found out that -- that he was digging into your past, the missing years, and she got scared that he was getting too close, that it would mess up her plans with you.
Alex: Uh-huh. So then she had him kidnapped and made it look like he killed himself. Right? Where did she take him?
Edmund: Bryn Wydd.
Alex: He was there? With us when we were there? The explosion. Is that how he died? Oh, if we'd known, we could have got him out of there. I could've saved my husband. Oh, God, this is --
Edmund: Don't blame yourself, ok? It's not your fault. It's not your fault. Alex, who knows why things happen? Do you remember how we felt when we thought Dimitri had killed himself?
Alex: Don't. Please, I can't go through this again.
Edmund: In the end, does it matter how he died?
Alex: Yes. It makes all the difference in the world. I mean, I was coming to terms with how he died, and now it looks that he -- he died because he loved me, because he was trying to help? I don't think I can bear that. Don't. Please don't try to make me feel better. I don't want to.
Edmund: Alex? Alex, you got to --

Edmund: That was a stupid stunt, Dimitri. You know, you're sick. You're supposed to save your strength.
Dimitri: I don't give a damn about my strength. You were about to tell Alex that I was alive.
Edmund: You're damn right I was. She blames herself for your death. You could just wipe out her guilt just by saying you're alive.
Dimitri: I can't do that!
Edmund: How can you stand to see her suffer?
Dimitri: Do you know what it took for me to stop from coming out here and grabbing her and holding her forever?
Edmund: Well, then why didn't you?
Dimitri: Because I'm dying. Now, what sort of a reprieve can I give Alex? What, a week? Maybe two? Edmund, there's just so much pain a person can take. Just let her believe that Charlotte killed me. I mean, she probably already has.
Edmund: What do you mean?
Dimitri: They pumped me so full of drugs at Bryn Wydd that it compromised any chance that I had to survive.
Edmund: You don't know that for sure.
Dimitri: I've seen Dr. Silbert at Seaview. I even ended up seeing Dr. David Hayward.
Edmund: What'd you see Hayward for? He's a cardiologist.
Dimitri: Yeah, well, he says my heart function is impaired, that I could be dead by the end of summer. Edmund, put yourself in Alex's place. She can't watch me die again.

Judd: Ok, Stuart. Just put that case of beer right on top of this one. I got it.
Marilyn: I'll get you that beer.
Stuart: I apologize, Ma'am. I'm sure my mama told me it was not polite to stare. If I could remember my mama.
Arlene: Well, I guess the getup is a little flashy.
Stuart: Oh, no, no, no. It's not that. It's just when I heard your voice, the strangest thing happened. I remember getting hit by a car. I don't -- I don't know why your voice should make me -- make me remember that. I don't even know you, do I?

Arlene: What the hell happened? Oh, jeez. Must've hit a deer or something.
Arlene: Hello? Hello?
Arlene: Oh, dear God. What have I done? Hello?

Arlene: My God. It's all my fault.
Leo: Hey, fellas. The waiter said that you guys sent the oysters over to our table.
Becca: Is there any reason why?
Zack: You two look like a hot couple.
Young man: Yeah, nothing like oysters to turn up the flames.
Becca: Oh. Well, thanks. You know, I've never had oysters before.
Zack: Oh. First time for everything.
Man: Yeah, you never forget your first time. Shucking oysters.
Becca: Whatever.
Leo: Anyway, thank you.

Becca: What is that about?
Leo: I don't know.
Becca: Well, I'm going to go brush my teeth and get this taste out of my mouth, ok? I'll be back.

Leo: Scott.
Scott: Leo. Let's talk.

Erica: David, is this patient of yours someone I know?
David: No.
Erica: Well, then, why would I be invested in his recovery?
David: Because I wouldn't be the man that you love if I walked away from somebody who is dying.
Erica: Well, now, that's a nice save. David, how are we going to be everything we want to be to each other if we're always apart?
David: I know that's a problem, but I can't help that right now.
Erica: And I'm sorry. I just can't help feeling that you're keeping something from me.
David: Erica, I am not at liberty to discuss my patients' medical treatment. Look, I'm sorry, but I really have to get back to work.
Erica: Well, don't you even want to know what's going on with Bianca? I mean, Jack has come up with a plan that is simply brilliant. But I know I can always count on him when I need him.
David: Well, good for you, and bully for Jackson. Now, Erica, I really have to get back to work. I'll call you tomorrow.

Dixie: I know, I know. I shouldn't shop as much as I do, but I can't help it. Well, you know, when there's a sale, there's a sale.
Dixie: Ok, so you'll pick up the pizza? I'll call you back. Wait, wait. Dimitri, come here, come here. You don't want to go in there. Come here.

David: You know I think the world of Bianca. Please give her my love. I'll call you the second I get this situation under control.
Erica: Well, don't expect me to be just sitting by the phone.

Dixie: That was a little close. Would it be all right -- I think I should go. Is it all right? Do you need me anymore?
David: No, it's ok, Dixie. You can go. You can go.
Dimitri: Thank you, Dixie.
Dixie: I hate keeping secrets. I really do.
Dimitri: Well, thank you for keeping mine.
Dixie: I'm very happy to see you alive. I really am. You take care of him, ok? Ok. Bye.

Dimitri: Does she know I'm dying?
David: Don't be so quick to write your own death certificate. I want to run another blood panel. The raw data is riddled with inconsistencies. It could be as simple as human error.
Dimitri: No, no more tests. I've already given in to you way more than I've wanted to. I'm leaving town tonight.
David: That would be a bad idea, especially if you collapse en route.
Dimitri: I am not going to let Alex and Edmund sit by my deathbed. I'll find someplace so remote even my noble brother won't be able to find me. Tell Edmund that I have gone to explore the undiscovered country.
David: You are not going off to die, damn it. I won't let you.
Dimitri: You can't stop me.

Alex: I'm sorry.
Edmund: No, don't apologize.
Alex: I needed to be alone.
Edmund: Well, Ms. Garbo, after what you endured, I'm amazed you're still standing.
Alex: Yeah. The only thing holding me together is that this is how it ends. I mean, this is how it ends, isn't it? There aren't any more surprises?
Edmund: You need to get your rest, you know. Just rest. Get your strength back.
Alex: I need to make peace with everything that's happened and let it go. My father used to tell me to put all my troubles in a balloon and watch them float away. I wish I could do that. I'd like to do that.

Erica: Hello, Marian. Hello, Jack.
Marian: Hello, Erica.
Erica: Jack, is our table ready?
Jack: It certainly is. It's right there waiting for us.
Erica: Great.
Jack: Marian, good to see you. I'll see you in the morning.
Marian: You, too. Thanks so much.

Jack: Here you go.
Erica: Thank you.
Jack: You're welcome.
Erica: Don't even ask me what kind of day I've had. I stopped by the hospital to ask David to join me for dinner, and, no, he couldn't do that. No, no, no. He's way too busy to spare me any time. And he's so secretive. I mean, he acts as if he's the only one doing groundbreaking research. My goodness, you know, the chemists at Enchantment have come up with something so groundbreaking --
Jack: Wait, wait, wait. I'm not your lawyer anymore. That's probably privileged information you shouldn't share with me. Erica: Now you're making fun of me.
Jack: Of you, gorgeous? Never. Just wanted to point out that we're here to talk about Bianca.
Erica: You were able to contact Travis and Barbara?
Jack: Yeah, I finally got through to them, and I was able to sell them on our little idea. I told them that you were having a bit of the old summer doldrums and that a surprise visit from Bianca would do a world of good.
Erica: Oh, Jack, and they bought it. That is the best news.
Jack: Well, Honey, it's only the best news if it's a little bit of a fib. Look, if you are having some kind of personal problems or business problems or any kind of problems that are going to affect Bianca, then maybe this isn't the best time in the world for her to be here. Maybe we should reschedule the visit.
Erica: Jack, please. Don't be ridiculous. I have never burdened my daughter with my personal problems. I don't intend to start now.
Jack: As long as you're sure.
Erica: Of course I'm sure.
Jack, I guarantee my daughter a stress-free summer. I mean, the only thing she's going to have to worry about is which SFE she needs in her sunscreen.
Jack: And what, if I may ask, are you going to tell her about you and David Hayward?
Erica: That we are madly in love. What else does she need to know? Bianca simply adores David.
Jack: Yes, but does she simply adore him as a future stepfather or as the latest in your rather long line of bedmates?

Scott: Look, I'm not trying to horn in on your date here. I just -- I thought I'd pass along what I told Becca that day at the Wave bash.
Leo: You like relish on your hotdogs?
Scott: No. I'm stepping back. I'm going to give Becca a chance to explore her feelings for you.
Leo: That's very, very 1960s of you, Scott.
Scott: No, I meant it. So may the better man win.

Becca: Scott. What are you doing here?
Scott: Oh, just getting some takeout food.
Becca: Oh.
Scott: I'll try the oysters. Couldn't hurt, right?
Becca: Yeah.
Scott: Have fun.

Becca: So, what was that all about?
Leo: Oh, you know, peace, love, brotherhood.
Becca: You know, Scott's basically a really good guy.
Leo: Yeah, too good. Sort of makes you wonder.

Marilyn: Cheers.
Adam: I hate surprises. I'm going to take this damn blindfold off.
Arlene: No, wait, wait. Watch your step. Now, ok. First, you got to make a wish. What do you want most in the whole wide world?
Adam: The one thing I want is the one thing you can't give me.
Arlene: Oh, don't be so sure. Now, hold still. Ready?
Adam: Come on, come on come on.
Arlene: This is all for you, Sweetie.
Adam: Yeah.
Adam: Stuart? Stuart? It's really you.
Stuart: Oh. Adam!
Adam: Oh.
Adam: My God. It's really you!
Stuart: How'd you find me?
Adam: It wasn't me. It was Arlene -- my wife, my angel. She's given me my brother back.
Stuart: No. No, no, it can't be. She's the one that killed me.
Adam: What?
Stuart: She hit with me her car and left me there for dead. Thanks to her, I lost my memory and my life!
Arlene: No, Adam, it was an accident. I -- I was drinking.
Adam: Never mind, Stuart. I only married her because I lost you. I don't need her now that I have you back.
Arlene: You don't mean that. You love me.
Adam: Love you? You pathetic, broken-down souse. You can stay in this dive and rot for all I care. You dare to show your face back in Pine Valley again, I'll have you arrested for felony hit-and-run. I'll have it cranked up to attempted murder. You'll do 10 to 20 years in Statesville, and you'll do it all stone-cold sober! Come on, Stuart. Let's get out of here.
Arlene: No, no, wait. I'm sorry. Let me explain!

Marilyn: You ready for a refill?
Arlene: Sure. This desert air makes you very thirsty.
Marilyn: Any clue on the woman in Stuart's painting?
Arlene: Never saw her before. Probably some fantasy woman he dreamed up.
Marilyn: I was hoping -- never mind. So, when are you going to tell Stuart that you're his long-lost cousin?
Arlene: Well, it's not so simple, Marilyn, sweetie. You and I have to talk.

Becca: I'm starting to feel like my senior year biology experiment.
Leo: Yeah, I feel like we're under a microscope or something.
Becca: I know
. Leo: Let's get out of here. We'll go to the Sugar Bowl, have a hot fudge sundae with the works.
Becca: No oysters, please.
Leo: Absolutely not.
Becca: Ok.

Young man: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Zack: Here we go, here we go. Here we go. Whoo. Oh, boy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Young man: Yeah! Way to go, champ! Way to go!
Zack: Take her home. Make a woman out of her. Whoo!

Erica: Don't you dare pass moral judgment on me, Jack Montgomery. It was our affair that was the reason I lost custody of Bianca to begin with, if you remember.
Jack: Yes, and you love to remind me of that even though I'm well aware. This is not moral judgment on my part. It's a simple curiosity. I just want to know are there any plans to make Dr. Hayward the future Mr. Erica Kane?
Erica: Oh, and you put that so nicely.
Jack: Thank you.
Erica: Well, for your information, we have discussed marriage.
Jack: Well, you know, I got to hand it to him. He's been your lover a long time without falling into the marriage trap. To what do you attribute that? Is it his self-centeredness or his fear of commitment?
Erica: As a matter of fact, I don't want to get married just yet. This current arrangement suits me just fine.
Jack: And aside from all that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

Edmund: I want to promise you something. Whatever the future holds, we're going to face it together, you and I, just like we faced the past.
Alex: Loving you saved my life. Certainly my sanity.
Edmund: You ok?
Alex: Truth?
Edmund: Yeah.
Alex: Next to losing Dimitri, this was the worst week of my life. I didn't think I could get through it.
Edmund: But you got through it. Come here. You got through it.

David: You act as though you want to die. But I know better, Dimitri. The instinct to live is still inside of you. So I'll tell you what we'll do. I'll tell Edmund that you've disappeared if you stay in Pine Valley and you let me treat you. The only people who have to know are me and Dixie.
Dimitri: You think -- you think there's a chance that I can survive?
David: I doubt it. But worst-case scenario, I study your illness and its progress in hopes of finding a cure for the future.
Dimitri: You want to use me as an experiment? Are you out of your mind?
David: It's your life, Dimitri, your choice to end it as you like. You can either go off and die in some remote place, or you can allow your life to really mean something. You stay, and I'll tell Edmund whatever you want. All I'm asking from you is one month off the end of your life.

ON THE NEXT - - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Hayley: I'm going to help you run the place. Meet your new barmaid.

Adrian: I'm not leaving her. Grace, I love Tina.

Arlene: I'll send you one of these every week to keep Stuart here for the time being.

David: Your brother will be dead in the next few days.
