ALL MY CHILDREN

JULY 13, 1999

Dixie: Oh.
Becca: Oh! Thank you so much. Ok, bye. Gosh, he is such a gracious man.
Dixie: Who's that?
Becca: Mr. Grey. You know what? He said I could come on his estate and scrounge around for cuckoo pint.
Dixie: Cuckoo what?
Becca: Pint. You might know it as lords and ladies. Hey, have you seen my shoes, you know, the sandals with the straw things?
Dixie: No. Is that another one of your exotic plants?
Becca: Oh, yeah. It's really rare in this country. Ah! Here they are!
Dixie: What's it for?
Becca: I think I'm going to take it to the Glamorama and show Opal. You know, it can get rid of freckles and age spots on hands and faces.
Dixie: Hmm.
Becca: That is so adorable.
Dixie: Isn't that sweet? I think if I have a girl, I'm going to have her wear it at the christening.
Becca: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait, wait. Are you -- oh, no,
no, no.
Dixie: Yeah. Becca: Oh, my God! Are you serious?
Dixie: Yeah.
Becca: Oh, my gosh. You're going to have a baby?
Dixie: Yeah.
Becca: Oh, my -- is that why you were so queasy?
Dixie: I guess so.
Becca: Oh. Oh! I'm so excited.
Tad: Honey, were we saving these doughnuts for --
Becca: Congratulations. She just told me the good news. I am so excited for you. I'm just --
Dixie: Thank you.
Becca: It's so awesome.
Dixie: Thank you.
Becca: You know what? I've got to run.
Dixie: Oh.
Becca: But when I come back, we have to celebrate, ok?
Dixie: Ok.
Becca: I am so excited. Congratulations.
Tad: You told her you were pregnant?
Dixie: Oh, sure. Tad, come on. She's practically family.
Tad: Dixie --
Dixie: I feel like telling the whole world.

Edmund: Gillian, I can't help you unless you get more specific.
Gillian: I can't name names.
Edmund: Well, fine. But, I mean, you haven't even told me what this secret is about. I mean, all you've said is --
Gillian: Yeah, but if I tell you, then I'd be breaking my promise.
Edmund: Gillian, we're at an impasse.
Gillian: All right, wait. I can tell you this much -- it's about something I saw.
Edmund: Ok, great. That's a start.
Gillian: And it would devastate a very dear friend of mine.
Edmund: The one with the secret?
Gillian: No, no, the other one. But I think that I should tell him, but if I do that, then he's going to be totally destroyed because -- because he totally worships her.
Edmund: Ok, well, then maybe he's better off not knowing.
Gillian: Yeah, but then she's just going to carry on behind his back.
Edmund: His wife?
Gillian: No. No. They're not married anymore.
Edmund: Well, then, how can she carry on if she's not married anymore?
Gillian: Because. Oh, because, you know. It's so confusing. I just --
Edmund: You're telling me.
Gillian: I just -- I don't know. Maybe -- I feel like maybe I should just stay out of this, you know, let the fries fall where they may.
Edmund: Chips?
Gillian: No, I can't eat. I just wish I knew when it was ok to tell somebody something even though it's going to shatter them.
Edmund: Maybe you got to consider the long-term effects.
Gillian: Edmund, I just -- I can't stand it that everybody thinks she's so perfect and that she did this to him of all people.
Edmund: Does this have anything to do with Ryan?
Gillian: How'd you know?

Hayley: Somebody saw us kissing on the beach? Who?
Ryan: Gillian.
Hayley: What? Why? Was she following you?
Ryan: No. She just happened to be walking by, I guess.
Hayley: She must've totally freaked out.
Ryan: She's very upset.
Hayley: That explains it. That's why she treated me that way when she saw me at the hospital. She must hate me.
Ryan: Well, I think right now she hates both of us.
Hayley: Well, did you explain it to her?
Ryan: I tried.
Hayley: It was just like this spontaneous thing and then it was over and that we both know it's never going to happen again.
Ryan: That's what I said.
Hayley: But she didn't buy it?
Ryan: She's -- she's convinced that I'm hung up on you and I have been for a long time.
Hayley: But that's not true.
Ryan: I know that. I know that, and you know that, but she -- she's always been jealous of you, Hayley, and she sees this as -- I don't know -- some kind of proof. I mean, it wasn't exactly just a peck on the cheek, you know.
Hayley: But we were just caught up in the moment. We were just -- oh, my God.
Ryan: What?
Hayley: What if she tells Mateo? She can't.
Ryan: Well, I hate to say this, but there's a very good chance that she might.
Hayley: Ryan, no! Did she say that she was going to?
Ryan: No, she didn't, but I obviously -- I asked her not to, and then she just hit me.
Hayley: Just when I think things can't get any worse. Ok. Ok. Ok. I'm going to tell him myself.
Ryan: Are you sure you want to do that?
Hayley: No. But what choice do I have? I mean, it's better that he hears it from me and I get a chance to explain myself rather than just have Gillian blurt it out, you know.

Mateo: Hey, what's going on?.
Ryan: We -- we just bumped into each other. I was going for a run --
Hayley: Yeah, me, too.
Ryan: We just started talking, hanging out.
Mateo: You started jogging again, huh?
Hayley: Well -- yeah. Got to work off those extra calories. You know, Janet's such a good cook and all.
Mateo: You look great.
Hayley: So do you.
Ryan: Hey! Max, buddy, what's going on? Ridden in any fire engines lately?
Max: No.
Mateo: That's right. You took him to the firehouse, huh?
Hayley: Hey, Max. I really like your hat.
Max: Thank you.
Hayley: How's your mommy doing?
Max: She's better.
Hayley: Good. Well, that's good. Well, we won't keep you.
Mateo: Oh, well, actually, we have a little time.
Ryan: Uh -- hey, buddy, you know what I saw? I saw a frosty freeze truck down by the swings. What do you say me and you, we go get one?
Max: Can I, Dad?
Mateo: Sure.
Max: Ok!
Ryan: Anybody else?
Mateo: No.
Hayley: No, thanks.
Ryan: All right, buddy.
Mateo: I miss you.
Hayley: Me, too.

Gillian: Why would you think this has anything to do with Ryan? I mean, not every single thought I have is about my ex-husband.
Edmund: Gillian, you two lived in my house for most of your marriage, and nobody gets under your skin like he does. Am I right?
Gillian: Can't say.
Edmund: Why you two got divorced in the first place is beyond me. Your grandmother and I were talking out it. You two are so crazy about each other.
Gillian: Edmund, listen, I didn't come here for a lecture. I came here for advice.
Edmund: That was not a lecture. That was just a simple observation. So, what did Ryan do and with whom that's got you so upset?
Gillian: On second thought, I've said enough.
Edmund: Ok, fine. Don't talk to me. Talk to Eugenia, but talk to somebody. Seriously. Secrets have a nasty way of slipping out at the worst possible moment.
Gillian: I'll remember that.

Becca: Yoo-hoo! Mr. Grey?
Edmund: In here.
Becca: Hi. I just wanted to say thank you before I went scrounging around in your estate for all the -- oh. I'm sorry. I didn't know you had company.
Edmund: No, no, no. I think we're -- we're finished. This is my niece, Gillian.
Becca: We met at Mrs. Fargate's house? Remember? I'm Becca.
Gillian: Yes.
Becca: Becca Tyree.
Gillian: Hi.
Becca: Hi.
Edmund: Ok. Listen, I got to run. I got a business appointment.
Gillian: I'm sorry. You should have --
Edmund: No, no, no, no. It's an old friend. It's nothing, really. It'll be ok. You two make yourselves at home. Happy hunting, and --
Becca: Thanks.
Edmund: Listen, if Dimitri calls, I'll tell him to call you, all right? Things have a way of working out on this thing.
Gillian: Thank you.
Edmund: All right. And you -- good luck with your corkscrew plan, whatever you're trying to find.
Becca: Cuckoo.
Edmund: Cuckoo.
Becca: Thanks. Well.
Gillian: Well, I -- I better get going.
Becca: Actually, no. I'm really glad I ran into you.
Gillian: Why?
Becca: I owe you a major apology.

Dixie: Just leave the research on the table, Tad. I'll get to it later.
Tad: Yeah, I certainly hope so. Did you know you could get diabetes?
Dixie: You know I could get hit by a truck? Have you seen Junior's lacrosse stick? He wants to take it with him to camp.
Tad: It's in the garage next to the frog box. I put it there last night. Did you read this thing on anemia?
Dixie: It was so sweet the way Becca reacted when I told her I was pregnant. She's such an adorable girl.
Tad: Would you just please do me a favor? Would you land just in one place long enough to focus on this? I want you to look at this chart, ok? It's about blood volume, second trimester.
Dixie: Aren't these babies magazines absolutely adorable? I mean, look at this little sundress.
Tad: What the hell is this?
Dixie: And, like, that hat.
Tad: Honey, what are you doing? You're sending away for a baby catalog?
Dixie: No, of course not. I just ordered some things for Colby, and, you know, I started looking through these magazines. I must have gotten on some sort of mass mailing list. Look at that mobile. That to die for or what?
Tad: It could be. That's what I'm trying to tell you.

Edmund: Hey Jack, sorry I'm late.
Jack: Ok, pal of mine. Gave me a chance to finish the paper here. Tell me, have you -- have you seen this?
Edmund: Is that an old photo?
Jack: No. No, my friend. That's a brand-new photo of the brand-new Erica Kane. She went to Rio, had that surgery, and obviously it was a complete success. I'll tell you, nothing, absolutely nothing keeps that woman down for long.
Edmund: You still carrying a torch for her?
Jack: A torch?
Edmund: Mm-hmm.
Jack: Oh, no. It's far more complex than that.
Edmund: Enlighten me, my friend.
Jack: Well, let me put it to you this way -- when it comes to loving Erica Kane, few are chosen and even fewer can make that incredible, indelible journey. But, like my ex-rival Mike Roy, I have moved on. You know, speaking of Mike, I should send him a copy of that. I think he'd get a kick out of it.
Edmund: You two keep in touch?
Jack: Yeah. Strange as that may seem, we do. Thank you, sir.
Edmund: Could you do me a favor? You got his phone number?
Jack: What do you want his phone number for?
Edmund: Well, actually, Brooke and I were talking about Mike and maybe he could submit a piece for "Tempo."
Jack: He's got some interesting stories to tell. That's for sure. So, is Brooke still in London?
Edmund: Yeah. She just e-mailed me after sitting down with Tony Blair.
Jack: Tony Blair. Big interview. So, when's she coming back?
Edmund: Oh, she didn't say. Why do you ask?
Jack: I just -- because I miss her, Edmund. That's why.

Tad: I'm not trying to scare you. I just think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself, that's all.
Dixie: You know what this is about? This is about you being angry at me because I told Becca that I was pregnant.
Tad: No, it's not. You've got to stop thinking about it that way.
Dixie: What way, Tad? There is a baby growing inside of me whether you like it or not.
Tad: Honey, I don't want to fight, ok? I just don't think it's a very good idea for you to be running around town telling people about it, that's all.
Dixie: Ok, all right. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. It just popped out.
Tad: Wait, wait. Come here for a second, ok, please? Just take a deep breath. Now, I know that you're psyched about the idea of having a baby.
Dixie: It's not an idea, Tad. It's a baby. It's not a problem. It's a baby!
Tad: Well, I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but it could be a problem. It could be a big problem, ok? That's why we've got to look at all the angles, ok?
Dixie: Tad --
Tad: This is why I brought all this stuff home so that we could sit down and we could discuss it together, you know? Talk about the risks involved.
Dixie: Tad, could you just please, please do me a favor?
Tad: Sure.
Dixie: For just five seconds, could you just forget about the research and just tell me how you really feel about this?
Tad: You know how I feel. I love you more than my own life. I don't want to start talking about something --
Dixie: No, not about me. About the baby.
Tad: I am talking about the baby!
Dixie: The baby we made, our baby! Could you just be the littlest bit excited about it?
Tad: That's not fair, ok? Under different circumstances, you know better than anybody I'd be running around town with a megaphone on top of the car. But that's not the case.
Dixie: No. No buts. No qualifiers, ok? Just that. That's good. Can you just close your eyes and imagine for a second that we are having a child together? Imagine what that feels like? To hold that baby in your arms, have that little face looking up at you like you're her whole world? Can you do that?
Tad: You know I can.
Dixie: And?
Tad: And -- and if I was lucky, she would look exactly like you. She'd have hair the color of spun gold and eyes like the ocean. And she'd have a smile that could light up a room. And I'd probably spoil her to death. I'd buy her everything. Be totally defenseless. And I'd love her more than anything.
Dixie: That's so wonderful. I knew you'd feel that way.

Mateo: You know how great this feels?
Hayley: Yeah. I do. So --
Mateo: Oh.
Hayley: Tell me -- how are you? What's going on?
Mateo: Not much. How about you?
Hayley: Just, you know, working the program, going to my meetings. Going to the mall with Amanda and Janet. A lot.
Mateo: Yeah. I'm really sorry.
Hayley: No, it -- hey, it's better than going to a bar, you know.
Mateo: Yeah. Every night, I imagine that we're together and everything's, you know, just like it used to be before --
Hayley: Before you found out you've got a son? Before you found out you have a beautiful son who is the spitting image of you?
Mateo: I love Max. There's no denying that, and I'm glad he's in my life. I just never thought it would come at our expense.
Hayley: Well, that's not his fault.
Mateo: No, it's not. It's my fault. It hits me every morning when I wake up. I know it's my fault. I should have been straight with you from the start and we wouldn't be in this mess.
Hayley: You don't have to say that. It really doesn't change anything.
Mateo: I know. We're still apart, wondering what comes next.
Hayley: Well, there's this -- max seems a lot better.
Mateo: Yeah.
Hayley: I mean, with me, anyway, you know. Maybe it's having you all to himself that's really helping.
Mateo: Yeah, he's making progress, huh?
Hayley: Yeah.
Mateo: Yeah. I'm concerned about you, though.
Hayley: Oh, I'm fine.
Mateo: Yeah. Well, if you were fine, you wouldn't have left me.
Hayley: Wasn't you I was leaving. It was the situation. And I'm sorry that I hurt you when I moved out, but I -- I had to do it for my own good.
Mateo: I know, I know. I understand that. It just doesn't make me miss you any less, you know?
Hayley: How are things at S.O.S.?
Mateo: Great, great. It's -- it's packed every night.
Hayley: Good. That's good.
Mateo: Yeah. I was hoping maybe you'd stop by sometime. How come you haven't -- I mean, other than the fourth of July? I mean, is it because there' people there drinking?
Hayley: I guess that's partly the reason.
Mateo: Is the other part that I'm there? You don't want to be around me?
Hayley: No. No, sweetheart. That's not it at all.
Mateo: Then what is it?
Hayley, listen. You know there's nothing you can't tell me. No matter what.
Mateo: What is it? You know you can tell me.
Mateo: Are you ok?
Hayley: Mateo, I --
Mateo: Ok. Look, I won't push. When you're ready, you'll tell me. I know that.
Hayley: Yeah.
Mateo: Right? I just want you to know that I believe in you. And you're going to get through this.
Hayley: How do you know?
Mateo: I know everything about you.
Hayley: Yeah? You want to fill me in sometime?
Mateo: What do you want to know? How brave I think you are? All the reasons I love you? Is that what you --
Hayley: No. No. Look, there are -- there is a lot of things that I'm not telling you.
Mateo: Oh. Why?
Hayley: Because. Because it makes this much harder -- you know, like how much I love you and how much I miss you.
Mateo: If I could, I'd go back and change everything. You know that. I'd be honest with you from the start. You know that, right?
Hayley: Mateo, don't -- don't do that. Nobody's perfect. Even though you're 99% more perfect than the rest of us, nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes, and then we move on. We have to move on.
Mateo: That's what I want. You know? That's what I -- I also want to hold you, wrap my arms around you and never let go.
Hayley: I want that, too, more than you know.
Mateo: Then come home. Come home.
Hayley: I can't. Not yet.
Mateo: When?
Hayley: I don't know when. I don't know. Maybe when we all can get to a point where we can talk to each other without Max wanting to burn down the house or me wanting to drown myself in a fifth of vodka. Maybe then.
Mateo: I pray for that. Do you know how much I miss kissing you? You don't know. How much I miss watching you sleep, waking up to you?
Hayley: I know. Believe me, I know.
Mateo: I finally remembered what my life was like without you.
Hayley: And?
Mateo: It stinks.
Hayley: You're going to really make this hard for me to stay away, aren't you?
Mateo: It's -- it's all I can do not to pick you up and carry you back to the condo and lock the door.
Max: Daddy?
Mateo: Hey.
Max: I'm ready, Daddy.
Mateo: Wow. That almost took no time at all.
Ryan: Yeah, well, we took the detour past the swings and everything.
Mateo: Hey, buddy, why don't you come and sit down and have that Popsicle before it turns into slush? Ryan, can I talk to you for a minute?
Ryan: Uh -- yeah, sure, man.
Mateo: Ok.

Hayley: Hey. Max I bet you probably don't need any help unwrapping that, huh?

Ryan: What's up, man?
Mateo: No, it's just that something's going on with Hayley that I don't know about, and I'd appreciate it if you'd look out for her, ok? Just keep an eye on her for me.
Ryan: Sure, man.
Mateo: Yeah?
Ryan: Whatever you need.
Mateo: Thank you. Means a lot.
Max: Come on, Daddy. Can we go home now?
Mateo: Well, there's still a little time, you know.
Hayley: That's ok. You guys can take off.
Mateo: You sure?
Hayley: Yeah. I got to get back to Trevor's and take a shower anyway.
Mateo: Yeah.
Hayley: All full of Popsicle.
Mateo: Maybe I'll see you later.
Hayley: Maybe. You have fun at your play date.
Max: Bye.
Hayley: Bye.
Mateo: Come on, let's go.
Ryan: You didn't tell him, did you?

Becca: Anyway, I just had no idea when I was talking about Scott's documentary what you had just been through.
Gillian: It's ok. Just forget about it.
Becca: Well, I mean, Mrs. Fargate, she told me what you and your husband -- what a tough time you guys had, and I'm just so sorry.
Gillian: Well, you know --
Becca: And, you know, I just kept going on and on and on about it, and I'm -- I mean -- you must think I'm an insensitive clod -- I mean, asking you to be taped on Scott's documentary? Jeez. Talk about open my mouth, insert foot.
Gillian: Excuse me?
Becca: Oh, it's an expression. It means I blew it, and I'm very, very sorry.
Gillian: It's fine. I mean, you had no idea. How could you have known? Don't worry about it.
Becca: You still love him, don't you?
Gillian: Yeah. A part of me will always love Ryan.
Becca: Was he your first?
Gillian: My first? No, no. There's been a lot of other men, not that I'm proud of it.
Becca: Oh, no, no, no. I didn't mean that. I mean was he the first one -- the first guy you were ever in love with?
Gillian: Yeah. I mean, there were no peace when we were together, and there is no rest that we're apart. I love him and I detest him, but I miss him more than anything. It doesn't make any sense, does it?
Becca: It makes all the sense in the world.

Jack: I open the door after hearing this noise -- thank you -- and into the office roars Brooke, riding a motorcycle -- and get this, Edmund -- get this -- she took the stairs. She took the stairs.
Edmund: Well, that got you out of your funk.
Jack: Yeah, I'd say so. It's funny. I mean, she just -- she just knew exactly what to do.
Edmund: No wonder you miss her.
Jack: Yeah. And I'll tell you something else -- I like having somebody to miss.
Edmund: Yeah. It's -- it's great if you know they're coming back.
Jack: I'm sorry, man. I didn't think.
Edmund: No, no, no. No, it's me, please. Actually, I -- I think of Maria a lot. And I can't say it's any easier, but it's more manageable? Anyway, I figure I've got words of advice to pretty well sum it up.
Jack: I'll take any and all words of advice.
Edmund: Seize the day. Seize the moment. Call Brooke, ask her when she's coming home, and tell her you miss her. Jack: Oh. Just le that, huh?
Edmund: Just like that. Jack, you never know how much time you have left.

Tad: No, this isn't fair. Come on, sweetheart. Look. Just because I would love to have a baby with you doesn't mean that I can close my eyes to what's going on here.
Dixie: No, it does mean, Tad. It means everything. Tad, I think the Lord is with us on this one. Why else would he have made me pregnant?
Tad: With all due respect, I don't think the lord's the one that made you pregnant.
Dixie: Very funny, Tad. Come on. I can take care of myself. I can take all the precautions --
Tad: Now you say that, baby --
Dixie: I can stay in bed.
Tad: But listen, listen. Your kidney is already under a strain, ok? You have no idea what's going to happen when you start carrying a baby.
Dixie: I can handle it. I could handle it, Tad. I mean, why would God give me pericarditis and get well only to kill me when I'm pregnant?
Tad: Look, I know you want to believe that more than anything else in the world, ok? All I'm asking you to do is sit down with me and look at this stuff and go over the facts, ok? Would you do that for me?
Dixie: Yeah. Of course. Show me what you got.
Tad: Thank you.

Jack: Edmund, I got to tell you, I'm extremely impressed. I had no idea that Maria's foundation was involved in so many really, really good causes.
Edmund: Oh, thanks, Jack. You know, it started out with just aids victims and cancer patients and gradually just grew to include any terminal illness that affects children.
Jack: And you've been administering this fund all by yourself?
Edmund: Pretty much so, yeah.
Jack: As well as running "Tempo"?
Edmund: Well, with Brooke, yeah.
Jack: Oh.
Edmund: But right now it's gotten to a point, the workload, I can't really handle it alone.
Jack: Yeah, well, I can certainly see why, my friend.
Edmund: Well, the legal aspects in particular. They're getting real complex, and I'd like you to come aboard.
Jack: Me?
Edmund: Yeah, you. I can't think of anybody better qualified. You're no longer the D.A. Timing is right.
Jack: And I'm extremely flattered. I am. I'd love to help out. But I've just signed on with Phoenix International.
Edmund: Phoenix? Where have I heard that name?
Jack: They're a philanthropic foundation. They're based out of London. I'll be handling their affairs here in the U.S.
Edmund: What do they fund?
Jack: I can't tell you that really. I -- well, I could tell you, Edmund, but then I'd have to kill you. You see, I just signed an agreement of confidentiality. You don't want me to have to give Mike Roy your phone number, now, do you?
Edmund: No.
Jack: Ok.
Edmund: Well, I'm sorry for my sake because you were my first and only choice.
Jack: Again, I'm honored. Tell you what. For this, I'll make the time.
Edmund: Jack, I didn't mean to pressure you.
Jack: Oh, Edmund, no pressure whatsoever. I look at this, and I see what good work you people are doing. I mean, you're changing people's lives. I'd like to be a part of that. So, my friend, you count me in.
Edmund: Thanks. You won't be disappointed. You'd be amazed at the medical breakthroughs that are made every day.

Dixie: Tad, listen to this. "Mary W., A woman in her early 30s, lost a kidney in an auto accident. Six months later, despite warnings from her physician, she became pregnant. Thanks to careful monitoring by her obstetrician to make sure there was no significant drop in her blood pressure during the ensuing nine months, she delivered a healthy baby boy." You see? We could do it!
Tad: Honey, honey, wait a minute. That's not quite fair, ok?
Dixie: No, think about it.
Tad: That's not the whole story.
Dixie: We have a wonderful hospital nearby with all the facilities and two --
Tad and Dixie: Doctors in the family.
Tad: I know all this, baby. But Mary -- Miss W., Whatever her name is -- obviously didn't have the extra added complication of a heart condition.
Dixie: Well, my heart is fine!
Tad: Yeah, you say that now, but what happens when you're carrying the baby? Look, here's another story, ok? Here's a story about a woman that had chronic kidney infection and a congenital heart defect. She spent the entire last trimester on her back in a hospital doing everything the doctor told her to do. She went into cardiac arrest during the delivery.
Dixie: Tad, I don't need to hear this. Wow, I don't need to hear that.
Tad: Look, look, ok? I'm scared. I'm really scared. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. And so is Dad and so is Jake. That's why they are trying to get you to think about it before you make your decision. I would love more than anything else in the world to have a baby with you. Like I said, I would want her to look just like you.
Dixie: Maybe we'd get lucky and it'd be a boy and he'd look just like you.
Tad: Oh, God forbid. There's already one of me. You want to go for double jeopardy?
Dixie: Why not? I love you.
Tad: And I love you, too. More than anything else I've ever known. And that's why I'm not even going to think about losing you. I can't, and I won't. I've been there. I've done that too many times.
Dixie: Ok, baby. There's something that I have to tell you.

Hayley: I couldn't tell Mateo about the kiss. You know, there was just no way.
Ryan: That's fine with me, but I just thought you wanted to get there before Gillian did.
Hayley: Gillian won't talk.
Ryan: How do you know that?
Hayley: Because I'm going to go to her and I'm going to beg her. You know, I'm going to explain the situation -- that the kiss didn't mean anything and it's not going to go anywhere because neither of us want it to.
Ryan: I told her that, but I just don't --
Hayley: Well, good. Then she'll hear it from me, and then maybe it'll finally sink in.

Gillian: Thank you for listening.
Becca: It's no problem.
Gillian: I just -- I feel like you understand my side.
Becca: Well, I'm not on your side. I'm not on your ex-husband's. So I can be objective.
Gillian: And you won't use any of this in your documentary?
Becca: Oh, no, no. I promise. Your secret is safe with me.
Gillian: No. No, my secret's safe with no one, especially me. Wouldn't it be great if we could edit our lives, cut, redo, until we got it perfect?
Becca: Would solve a lot of problems.
Gillian: And if we could erase the things that we've seen. Well, now you know that every princess doesn't get her happily ever after.
Becca: But you love Ryan. Don't you? I mean, that ought to count for something -- I mean, unless Ryan did something terrible to -- oh, Gillian. Gillian, what did Ryan do? Gillian. What did he do?

Dixie: I promise you, whatever decision that we make, we will make it together, ok?
Tad: Ok. That's all I can ask for right now.
Dixie: Right? We're a team.
Tad: You promise you'll keep an open mind? You know, you'll go over all of the facts and then --
Dixie: Tad, Tad, have faith, ok? Any decision that we make, we'll make it after we have all the facts, ok?

Ryan: Well, I'm glad we agree on this. It won't do anybody any good to dwell on something that was a mistake.
Hayley: Yeah, something that didn't mean anything.
Ryan: Right. I mean, Gillian's already hurting about this. There's no reason that we have to do the same thing to Mateo.
Hayley: Right. And you guys work together very well, and you're a terrific asset to the club, and I would hate to ruin all of that over some stupid kiss.
Ryan: Well, I don't really care about that so much -- the work and everything. It's more -- Mateo's a really good guy, and he doesn't need anything else on his shoulders right now.
Hayley: He's a great guy. He's a great guy, Ryan. That's why I have to get myself together so I can go back to him. You know, seeing him just now made me realize that he's my life.
Ryan: I know that.
Hayley: I'd better go.
Ryan: Yeah. Me, too. Me, too. I'll see you at the club later?
Hayley: I'll see how I feel.
Ryan: Ok.
Hayley: Ok?
Ryan: Ok. As far as Gillian goes, if she hates me, there's nothing I can do about that. It's probably for the best. She's better off without me.

Becca: Gillian, what happened with Ryan?
Gillian: He treated our marriage like it was this big mistake that he needed to get away from.
Becca: You're divorced.
Gillian: Yeah, well, that was his idea, too, you know. He moved on, he moved out, and I just hate myself for being such a fool.
Becca: It's never foolish to love someone.
Gillian: No, it is. It is when he's in love with someone else.
Becca: Was that the problem?
Gillian: He swore it wasn't, and I wanted to believe that. I really -- I really did. I wanted to believe that I was the only woman in his heart.
Becca: And there was someone else.
Gillian: No, not just someone else, you know. That would be too easy, too clean. There had been months of deceit and pretense.
Becca: I'm so sorry about that.
Gillian: Yeah. Me, too. I -- I just -- I couldn't believe it, and I probably still wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
Becca: Gillian, what did you see? I mean, how bad was it?
Gillian: Her with Ryan -- the woman I thought was my closest friend.
Becca: He was with your best friend?
Gillian: Yeah -- that's why it hurt so much. It almost sounds like some stupid song -- "I saw my best friend kissing my ex-husband."
