ALL MY CHILDREN

JUNE 14, 2001

Leo: Hey.

[Foreign accent] you slept like a beautiful little angel baby.
[Normal voice] what about me?
Laura: Oh, the sound of your breathing is the safest, most peaceful thing I ever heard.
Leo: Aw.

Hayley: If I eat one more slice, I'm going to turn into bacon.
Mateo: You've never looked sexier.
Hayley: Yeah, you say that because you're way over there.
Hayley: Stop. The last time we did this, we got pregnant.
Mateo: Ah, you see, that's why I can never pay my bills. I'm always over here.
Hayley: Yeah, well, we can't.
Mateo: Why? Because of your back?

[Knock on door]

Hayley: Don't you remember?
Isabella: Hello, it's me!
Hayley: Your mom and sister are coming over today.
Mateo: Oh, yeah. Hey, Mom! Come on in!
Isabella: Buenos dias.
Mateo: Hi.
Hayley: Buenos dias.
Isabella: Oh, don't mind me. Finish what you were doing. Finish your breakfast. Oh, how are you feeling, Hayley?
Hayley: Pretty good, thank you. They're beautiful.
Isabella: Ok. Well, you never looked more beautiful, that's for sure.
Mateo: You see? Told you.
Isabella: Are you following doctor's orders?
Hayley: Yes, yes. I go from the bed to the sofa and from the sofa to the bed.
Isabella: Good. Well, yes. You haven't been cleaning. Well, don't worry. Rosa and I will have this place looking presentable in no time.
Hayley: Oh --
Mateo: Where is Rosa?
Isabella: I dropped her off at the library to look up some stuff for her papers, exam papers.
Mateo: You believe that?
Isabella: Huh?
Mateo: Mom, come on, exam papers? She's probably, I don't know, having a little coffee with some boy or something.
Isabella: Who says?
Mateo: Well, she's not a baby anymore.
Isabella: Well, she's perfect, just like you and everyone. She's got straight A's at St. Agnes. And I have some wonderful news for her if she ever gets here. Well, I probably should start without her. I'm going to start in the bedroom.
Hayley: Mm-hmm.
Isabella: Ay. I almost forgot the most important thing.
Mateo: What?
Hayley: Oh --
Isabella: Que tal, mi amorcito? Es tu abuelita Isabella que te quiere mucho. There. Now the baby knows grandma's here.

Liza: Adam.
Adam: Oh, good morning. Liza: I wanted to wait up for you.
Adam: No, I didn't want to wake you. I slept in with Colby.
Liza: No, I know. I went into Colby's room and I saw you asleep in the rocking chair beside her.
Adam: God bless that little girl. She loves me.
Liza: J.R. loves you and he needs you.
Adam: Yeah. Yeah, I can't let him down.
Liza: You're not. Adam, he's just started experimenting with drugs and he's a smart kid, he's a good kid.
Adam: Right, and I'm well aware it's not his fault.
Liza: No, it's not all his fault. Did you see David last night? What did he say?
Adam: Dixie's on her way over. Why don't I tell you both what he said when she gets here.
Liza: Yeah, but Tad's on his way over.
Adam: Why?
Liza: We have a meeting.

Liza; Good morning. Did you have breakfast?
J.R.: Yeah, I ate. I've got to get to soccer practice.
Adam: No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. Your mother's on her way over.
J.R.: Mom? I'm going to be late.
Adam: Well, I'll leave you a note.
J.R.: I don't need a note.
Adam: Well, then you'll be late without a note.
Liza: Ok, all right. Listen, your mother needs to know. She's going to find out sooner or later, so might as well get it over with.

[Doorbell rings]

Liza: Excuse me.

Adam: Son? No confessions. Just agree with everything I say. Everything's going to be fine, son.
Dixie: Are you ok?
J.R.: Yeah. I'm fine.
Dixie: Jake called me. He told me that your friend Ken almost overdosed on drugs.
J.R.: He's going to be fine, Mom.
Dixie: What, he's going to be -- he almost died. Jake says that you were with him?
Adam: Yes, yes, and lucky for us that he was. J.R. probably saved the boy's life. He got him medical attention, he took him to the hospital.
Dixie: He didn't go into the hospital with him. He just dropped him by the doors to the ER.
Adam: I'm sure he did the best he could under the circumstances. He got the boy a doctor to see him.
Dixie: Well, yes, he did.
Adam: Well, that's the main thing.
Dixie: Is it? Listen to me -- your friend overdosed almost on drugs last night. You know what I'm thinking? I don't want to ask you this, but I have to. Did you take drugs last night?
Adam: Dixie, you should know your son better than that. The answer is absolutely not.
J.R. doesn't use drugs.
Liza: So this is how you're going to make things right?
Adam: Liza, please. Dixie, J.R. had a rather rough experience last night and I think he really deserves a little space today. Why don't you go on to practice. No point in being any later than you have to be.
Dixie: Well, wait. Hey, wait a second. There's just a few more things I'd like to know, if you don't mind.
Adam: What else do you need to know right now? He had a rough time.
Dixie: I'd like to know a couple of the details. Can I talk? Did you know your friend Ken had drugs on him?
J.R.: He was already wasted by the time I met up with him.
Dixie: You could tell? You could just see that he was that high? What about -- you were in a car. Jake said he saw you in a car driving away from the ER.
J.R.: I was with Marcus.
Dixie: You were with Marcus. Did your friend Marcus take some of Ken's drugs?
J.R.: No, Mom. You honestly think I'm dumb enough to get in a car with someone who's taking drugs?
Dixie: No, I don't think you're dumb. I don't, ok? This is all just really new to me, ok? Now, Jake said that your friend took a very intense painkiller. Did he take it when he was in front of you?
Adam: Dixie, this really isn't very fair to J.R. We live in the world we live in. It's not fair to ask him to police his buddies. We should be grateful that he's not behaving the way they are. Frankly, I think it was a very valuable experience he had last night. He saw how dangerous drugs can be. And I think we should just let the matter rest right there.
Dixie: Not quite. You were supposed to be doing your community service last night and you hung out with your friends. Now, you really think that I'm just supposed to let that pass?
Adam: That was my fault.
Dixie: It was your fault?
Adam: Yes. J.R. Was -- well, they were threatening to throw him out of his band because he'd been AWOL at so many rehearsals. So if he'd gone to that graffiti-cleaning expedition, he would have had to miss another rehearsal
J.R.: And if I had missed another rehearsal, they would have replaced me, Mom.
Adam: Yeah.
Dixie: So you're telling me that you encouraged him to just blow it off?
Am: No, I did more than that. I offered to pay someone to do it for him.
Dixie: What? Adam!
Adam: I know, I know. It was a mistake.

[Doorbell rings]

Adam: I won't do it again.
Dixie: Do you see? Do you see how wrong this is, how not good this is?
J.R.: Mom, please.

Tad: I'm sorry. I got to ask you a favor. I wonder if our meeting can wait for a few minutes. I got to talk to Adam right now.
Liza: Oh, I have a few choice words.
Tad: What's going on?
Adam: Well, we're done here. You and Liza can have your business meeting now.
Dixie: I was going to call you. Just had to get a few answers going here first.
Tad: Answers to what?
Dixie: Apparently, one of J.R.'s friends overdosed on drugs last night. He was with him.
Adam: Yeah, well, he's -- he's going to be fine, thanks to the fact that J.R. got him to the hospital.
Tad: Which friend?
J.R.: Ken.
Tad: Is he ok?
J.R.: Yeah. He's fine.
Adam: We were trying to get to the bottom of all that right here and we have, so there's -- there's nothing more to worry about.
Tad: No?
Adam: No.
Dixie: I'm thinking the same exact thing. I asked J.R. Whether he took any of the drugs, and Adam here told me absolutely not.
Tad: Did he?
Adam: Yeah. Yeah. So happily, he doesn't take drugs. That's great. And anything else that needs to be done -- well, we can handle it.
Tad: I'm sure you will, Adam. I know all about how you handle things. I just got off the phone with Jamie, who told me that you burst into Brooke's last night and nearly beat David Hayward to death.
Dixie: What?
Tad: Brooke got on the phone and told me that you threatened him because he gave J.R. drugs? If he's not into something, then what the hell are you up to?

Isabella: What should I do about this mess?
Mateo: Don't, don't. Leave that alone, Mom. That's not a mess. That's my work stuff, ok? Thank you.
Isabella: Mm-hmm.
Hayley: Isabella, did you know that we're renovating SOS?
Isabella: Yes. What they've done so far is beautiful.
Hayley: You've seen it?
Isabella: Mm-hmm.
Hayley: And you don't think we're spending too much money?
Isabella: Oh, I always think you two spend too much money. Bui can't complain when everything is going so great.
Mateo: Thanks.

Hayley and Mateo: Hey!
Mateo: How's the research paper?
Rosa: Good.
Mateo: Uh-huh.
Hayley: You look adorable.
Rosa: In this dork outfit?
Isabella: Come say hello to your niece or nephew.
Rosa: Hello, niece or nephew.
Isabella: No, I am your Auntie Rosa so he or she knows your voice.
Rosa: Do you believe her?
Hayley: Oh, come on, humor me. I like it.
Rosa: I'm your Auntie Rosa, and everybody out here is absolutely nuts.
Isabella: Now, grab some rubber gloves and get started. We don't have much time.
Rosa: That's right. I'm two seconds late for school, I get five years' detention.
Isabella: Oh, not quite. But I'm glad they have strict rules at St. Agnes. All the girls are there to learn.
Rosa: Well, luckily, I'm on the last of my exams. Then I don't have to think of St. Agnes ever again.
Isabella: Well, not till next fall, anyway.
Rosa: We'll see. We've been talking about me transferring to Pine Valley High.
Hayley: Really?
Mateo: Vitamins.
Isabella: Oh, she's been talking, but she's going to stay put.
Rosa: Don't you even care that I'm going crazy there?
Hayley: So, Rosa, you have any plans for the summer?
Rosa: I'm getting a job.
Hayley: Really? You got anything lined up?
Rosa: Well, I've been thinking about it.
Isabella: Father Anthony said he'd find her something.
Rosa: But that wasn't definite.
Isabella: Well, it is now. I spoke to him last night. He's got you a great job in the rectory.
Rosa: What?
Isabella: Yeah. You start on Monday after school's out.
Rosa: No. No. No, Mami, I won't do it. I won't!

Leo: Hey, what's the matter?
Laura: Nothing. Nothing.
Leo: Are you sure?
Laura: Yeah. You're here, so everything's good.
Leo: Ok.

Zora: Good morning. Laura, I've run a hot bath for you. I thought your muscles might need it after spending the whole night on the sofa.
Leo: Hmm. That sounds mighty good. I'll have -- I'll go next. And I'll have you know that I like my bubbles -- a lot of them.
Zora: Laura, let me take your vitals before we go. Come on.
Laura: Uh, no.
Zora: Laura, what's wrong? What's the matter?
Laura: Nothing. It's just I'm starving. Do you think we could have breakfast first, then do the other stuff?
Zora: Hmm, breakfast. How does a bowl of Zora Jones' hot oatmeal sound?
Laura: Yummy.
Zora: Hmm. Yummy, indeed.

Leo: You really want oatmeal this early in the morning? Ugh.
Laura: No. Look, it's a beautiful day outside. I just want to be out in it.
Leo: Yeah, but, Laura, I doubt that Madam Zora would approve of that.
Laura: So? You got your cell phone. If anything goes wrong, she can reach us in 10 seconds. She's bionic, you know? Hey, and if not, it's a big bowl of oatmeal for you, too.
Leo: Oh, ok. All right, let's go.
Laura: Oh, wait, wait, wait. I want to get my camera. I want to remember this day. Leo: Ok.
Leo: I guess she is bionic.
Zora: Laura is to have complete bed rest. Now, I know if I follow the doctor's orders to the letter, Leo, very little can go wrong.
Leo: Well, yeah. Yeah. And we are sorry to put you in such a difficult position, Nurse Zora. We know that you only want what's best for Laura.
Zora: Yeah, well, that goes without saying. Come on, Laura.
Leo: Uh -- which -- which is why I got you a present. Huh? For all the hard work you do. Something tells me that you're a connoisseur of chocolates. Am I right?
Zora: Well-
Leo: This is a little something from me to you to compliment you for all the hard work you do.
Zora: Aw, this is -- this is kind of nice.
Leo: Yeah, thanks.
Zora: Oh, no. My oatmeal is burning. I'll be right back.

Leo: Well.
Laura: Pretty smooth, Leo.
Leo: Yeah, well --
Laura: How'd you know to get her a present?
Leo: Well, I didn't. I always carry a box of chocolates with me. Something I learned from my mother.
Laura: Well, even still, I think you have a friend for life in Zora.
Leo: Yeah. Come on, let's go.
Laura: Really?
Leo: Well, she's t going to bust her new best friend, is she? Come on, let's do it.
Laura: You think?
Leo: Oh, let's find out.

Isabella: You stop this right now, Rosa. You're upsetting Hayley.
Rosa: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell. Mami, I begged you to let me find my own job. I hate St. Agnes. I can't breathe there. And now I'm trapped there all summer long, too, only till 5:00 Instead of 3:00?
Isabella: Mija, you have to trust me. I know what's right for you even if you don't.
Rosa: Fine. I'll just shut up and do what I'm told.
Isabella: I'm just sorry the baby had to hear all this.

Hayley: Oh --
Mateo: Boy, I'm so glad my family's not crazy. What's up with Rosa?
Hayley: Oh, poor Rosa. She reminds me of somebody I used to know.
Mateo: You?

Tad: Well, Adam? Why on earth would you accuse David Hayward of supplying drugs to J.R.?
Liza: Well, you going to tell him?
Adam: Yes, yes, of course. I was mistaken.
Liza: What?
Adam: Yes, I was misinformed. We all know what kind of things Hayward is capable of, and so it wasn't much of a stretch to figure out he was guilty, but I was wrong. Somebody had given me the wrong information and he wasn't guilty of that, so I apologized. That's the end of it.
Dixie: Why would you think that David was giving J.R. drugs?
Tad: J.R. could probably answer that. J.R.: Yes, it was
me. I told Dad that David Hayward gave me the drugs.
Dixie: Why would you do that? Why would lie about that?
J.R.: I don't know, Mom. I was mad, ok? I couldn't believe that David Hayward actually came to our school looking for you. He should be in jail. Not roaming around some high school, ruining our lives.
Dixie: But to tell such a vicious lie about somebody --
J.R.: You know, Mom, I thought that he would be out of here, he'd be gone.
Liza: Adam?
Dixie, Adam is going about this the wrong way.
Adam: Liza, I really think we're in the way here. I think Dixie and Tad should have a few minutes alone with J.R. So would you please? Just give me a few seconds alone, please?

J.R.: Aren't you guys going to yell at me?
Tad: Yeah. We are.

Adam: Liza, let me deal with this in my own way.
Liza: No, it's always the same way. You just pile lie upon lie and then it crumbles down around you.
Adam: Liza, I can't stand to see J.R. like this. The kid is -- is -- he is so scared. He's trying to be strong. He's scared out of his mind. Can't you see how sorry he is for what he's done?
Liza: Don't you see that this is the wrong thing to do for your son?
Adam: All right, if you want if you're so intent on giving a parenting lecture, why don't you direct it to Dixie?
Liza: I don't understand how you can be so cold. Dixie is your son's mother.
Adam: Well, as far as I'm concerned, you would make a far better mother for J.R.
Liza: You know, I love him like he were my own son, but he isn't.
Adam: He should be here. He should be here with us for good. We could protect him, keep him from harm.
Liza: What, for the next time he tries drugs?
Adam: He's not going to try it again. He's learned his lesson.
Liza: Oh, Adam, you are so blind. You are taking his word that this is the only time or the first time he's ever used drugs. This is a very important time you're at right now. It's a critical step this next step you take.
Adam: Liza, you don't understand. I have to keep his drug use from getting out. I've got to keep him out of the juvenile system. One mistake, this one mistake could ruin his life.
Liza: So far J.R. has done drugs once, maybe twice. Is that what we're talking about?
Adam: Liza, drop this. I can make this whole thing go away. No one ever need know about it.
Liza: "No one"? Including me? What else has J.R. done?

Tad: Look, I'm very well aware of the fact that your life has been turned completely upside down in the last year, and there isn't an hour that goes by that -- that your mother and I don't feel incredibly guilty about the mistakes we've made, but is that going to be your excuse every single time you get into trouble?
J.R.: No.
Tad: We love you very, very much. That's why we can't afford to just give you a pass because we screwed up.
J.R.: Tad, look, I know what I did was wrong, ok? But when I saw Hayward at my school, I freaked. The only thing I could think of was to tell my dad that he gave me the drugs. I wanted to hurt him just like he hurt us.
Tad: If he turned you into a liar, he's still hurting us.
J.R.: I'm sorry, Mom. I really am.
Dixie: I know you are. And I am so sorry that I've disappointed you so much. But Tad is right. This is about what kind of person that you are. This is about doing the right thing, no matter what anybody else is doing. And I know that's hard and I know that takes an enormous amount of character, but I believe that you can do it. And I expect it of you.
J.R.: I know. I won't mess up again.
Dixie: You're the best thing in my life. I always want to be proud of you.

Adam: Liza, I want your help in what I have to do. I want you to be my partner in this, but I'm just afraid you won't understand.
Liza: I have told you I would always be by your side as long as you told me the truth.
Adam: Yes. All right, you were right about Hayward. He didn't give J.R. the drugs. Not willingly, at least.
Liza: J.R. stole the drugs?
Adam: Yes.
Liza: Oh, my God.
Adam: We are dealing with felonies here.
Liza: No wonder he's scared. He's -- you're right. This isn't J.R. Things must have gotten out of hand somehow.
Adam: You see what we're up against? That's why I can't tell Tad and Dixie -- not yet.
Liza: I understand. We have to figure out a way to minimize the effect this has on J.R.
Adam: I think I know how. I think I can make this all go away.
Liza: How?

Hayley: Believe me, I understand that Isabella and my mother are from different planets, but I know what it was like to, you know, feel like I can't breathe in my own skin. It made me want to act up.
Mateo: Well, if you ask me, Rosa's damn lucky. Yeah, I know my mother gets in her face a little too much, but she should know that she's loved and she's cared for.
Hayley: Mateo, all I'm saying is she's angry right now and she needs somebody to talk to, somebody to express herself with, and that should be us, because if not, she may pick somebody that we don't like very much.

Isabella: Mateo? Would you mind taking this out for me, please?
Mateo: Sure.
Isabella: Thanks.

Rosa: Mateo, please, can we talk -- away from Mami?

Leo: You want to get away from the kids?
Laura: Oh, no. It's funny -- I always told myself I didn't want children. But I didn't mean it. It was just a cover. Because I guess I thought I never could have the normal life, the things other people wanted. It seemed impossible. But then you love me. And that seemed impossible. Who knows what could have happened if we had time.
Leo: Here. Let me take some pictures of you.
Laura: No, no, no, no.
Leo: Yes, yes.
Laura: Listen, I'm the photographer.
Leo: Laura, you're gorgeous, ok?
Laura: Well, my mother said she wants more pictures of me. But if you can make me beautiful, you're a far better photographer than I am.
Leo: Oh, please, that's going to be easy. All right, now, I want sexy, all right? Something sexy. Ok, how's this thing -- here we go. Give me something. Work it.

[Shutter clicks]

Leo: Ok, there you go. There you go. All right.

Rosa: You have to talk to her. Mami will listen to you. I can't take that job of hers this summer. I want to work at the mall.
Mateo: Why? Why the mall? Who's at the mall?
Rosa: Well, nobody.
Mateo: What are you up to?
Rosa: Look, have I ever done anything to make you suspicious of me?
Mateo: No but I --
Rosa: Then talk to her, please?
Mateo: What's the use Rosa? Come on, she always gets what she wants anyway.
Rosa: Yeah, but why? All I want to do is have some time to myself, to have some fun.
Mateo: You know, Mom has sacrificed everything for us. You got to know that. And things have been tough for her since Dad died and Maria died. You know, she never gets to see Julia or Anita that much and she just focuses all her energy on you. That's what's going on.
Rosa: Yeah, but that's not my fault. She has to make everything so hard, and I just want to have some time to myself to live like a normal person and have some friends, go to the movies, and just laugh and talk. And, you know, if I work at the mall, I get a 20% discount. I could get lots of stuff for the baby.
Mateo: 20%, Huh?
Rosa: So you'll talk to her?

[Door opens]

Isabella: Mateo?
Mateo: Yeah?
Isabella: Your wife is wondering where you are.
Mateo: Right. I'll be right in.

Liza: And how do you think you can make all this go away?
Adam: Hayward said that he would keep quiet about J.R. if I would help him with his legal troubles.
Liza: And what'd you say?
Adam: I told him I'd think about it. That bought us a day or two.
Liza: What does he expect from you?
Adam: He said something about helping him with his defense. I think that means buying him a dream team.
Liza: And he'll be satisfied with that?
Adam: No, of course not. Like everybody else, he thinks I have a whole handful of judges in my pocket.
Liza: You know, you were just under house arrest. The DA's office can still smell your blood.
Adam: I know, I know, I'm going to have to be very careful. It's not going to do J.R. any good if I screw this up. But if I get the right judge -- Judge Davidson, for example? You remember last week how he was complaining about all the money he lost on Wall Street?
Liza: So you just took that information and you stowed it away for a rainy day?
Adam: Well, he was telling me that for a reason, Liza. Actually, it wouldn't be that difficult. All he has to do is disallow the incriminating videotape of Hayward putting the Libidozone into the punch bowl and then one of the high-priced lawyers can create reasonable doubt -- especially since that insane woman Coulson is still on the loose.
Liza: This is -- this is a done deal, isn't it?
Adam: No, no. No.
Liza: Yes, it is. You thought about this all night while you spent time with Colby. You're going to go through with this no matter what I say.
Adam: Well, I don't think we have any other choice, Liza.
Liza: So much for you needing me as a partner.

Isabella: Rosa, I think we'd better hurry.
Mateo: You know, Mom, I've been thinking about this whole summer job thing for Rosa and I think it -- I don't know, I think it'd look better on her college resume if she had a job that she got on her own.
Isabella: What, have you two been talking behind my back?
Mateo: No, no, Mom, Mom, listen, I'm just telling you the truth -- that I know a couple of the storeowners at the mall and I could put a good word in for her if you wanted me to.
Isabella: Rosa can't squander away her summer at the mall. She has a brilliant future ahead of her.
Rosa: Mami, why do you always exaggerate about me? I don't have an A average, just a B, and I only have a partial scholarship to St. Agnes -- which I have to work in the cafeteria for with a hair net on my head.
Isabella: Well, that's even better. You can learn the meaning of hard work.
Rosa: Oh, I know the meaning of "hard work." I'm your daughter.
Isabella: You can easily have an A average if you work just a little harder at your sciences. Just a little effort, Rosa, that's all I'm asking.
Rosa: I hate science. I'm not good at it. And it doesn't matter anyway because I'm not going to be a doctor. When are you going to get it through your head that I'm not Maria and I never will be?
Isabella: You're right. You could never be Maria. And Maria could never have been you. Let's go.

Hayley: A hair net, Mateo?

[Mateo sighs]

Mateo: So you having second thoughts? You sure you want to bring another crazy Santos into this world?
Hayley: I love all the crazy Santos's.

Leo: Come on, Laura.

[Shutter clicks]

Leo: There you go. Ok, I want one of these. Ok? All right, perfect. One more. All right, that's it. Laura: I don't think I've h so many pictures taken of me in my life. I guess that means you have my soul now.
Leo: Well, you have mine.
That's only fair, right? Leo: You know, nurse Zora's probably looking for us with her tranquilizer gun by now. Anyplace else you want to go before she catches us?
Laura: Yeah, Leo. The hospital.

Adam: Liza. You said you'd be with me if I told you the truth. Please, Liza, let me save my son.
Liza: You know, I'm not shocked that you want to bribe another judge, but you know what's wrong is trying to save J.R. from something that you shouldn't save him from!
Adam: Why?
Liza: If J.R. did the things that we think that he did, J.R. should suffer the consequences of his actions.
Adam: No, no, he's just a kid! He's a child! He's not responsible!
Liza: He is responsible, and you know it!
Adam: All right, all right! You think I'm going to leave my son's future in the hands of a man like David Hayward?
Liza: We can do it together, the two of us, with Dixie and with Tad.
Adam: I really thought you'd understand.
Liza: You said that I would be a good mother for J.R., and I agree with you. And if he were my child, as much as I'd like to protect him, I would know what I would have to do.

Dixie: So what about your community service? You know, you're not just going to let your dad take care of that for you, are you?
J.R.: I'll call the social worker and see what he's got me lined up for today.
Dixie: Ok.
J.R.: Now that I've missed soccer practice.
Dixie: Go on. Go.

Dixie: Yeah, I'm really sorry that I didn't tell you about David coming by the school. I meant to do that.
Tad: Why didn't you?
Dixie: Well, I wasn't there. Remember, I was at a conference? But I did go see him and I told him that we were absolutely through, that there is no way that there's any possibility of us having a future together.
Tad: You think you finally got him?
Dixie: I don't know. I do.
Tad: Listen, would you like to go get some coffee or something?
Dixie: I can't. I have to go monitor some exams.
Tad: I was being honest. What about lunch?
Dixie: Uh -- I can't. I have a half day. I would like to do something. How about dinner?
Tad: Yeah, dinner will be fine. That would be great. Oh, wait, no. Oh, no. Stupid. I -- I can't do dinner. I have a board meeting at 7:00.
Adam: Liza?

Liza: Dixie, Tad, there's something I need to tell you Adam has been lying to us.
