ALL MY CHILDREN

MARCH 10, 2000

Alex: Oh, there you are. Good morning.
Edmund: Well, good morning. You look well rested.
Alex: Yeah. Not all of us slept well, though.
Edmund: Like Gillian?
Alex: Mm-hmm. She left early to go to the courthouse, see if she could talk to Jake before the hearing.
Edmund: You know, a couple days ago, Gillian was married with a future with Colby and Jake, and now she's wondering if she's even going to stay married. You know, I'd like to strangle Adam. He just poisons every life he touches.
Alex: Should I go out and come in again? It's such a gorgeous day out.
Edmund: Want some coffee?
Alex: Mm-hmm. So, Edmund --
Edmund: Yeah?
Alex: I bought you a horse.
Edmund: Just like that?
Alex: Mm-hmm. Oh, he's so gorgeous. I saw him and I had to buy him.
Edmund: Wait a minute -- you -- you went out, you saw a horse, and you bought him?
Alex: Yeah. Don't look at me like that, please.
Edmund: Oh. How am I looking?
Alex: Well, I'm not trying to replace Maximillian. Please don't think that. I could never do that. He was one-of-a-kind.
Edmund: Yeah. But I have Califa.
Alex: Yeah, and he's lovely, but now we can ride together. Oh, this horse is so beautiful. He reminds me of when I used to ride as a teenager. He's wild and spirited.
Edmund: If you say so. Alex: I do say so.
Edmund: What's going on with you?
Alex: I'm tired of living my life in limbo. You know, I'm not making any decisions. I'm just drifting. I'm so wrapped up in my past and I want to live again, not just exist.
Edmund: And this horse that you're buying is a step towards reclaiming that life?
Alex: Yeah, in a way, it is. Wait till you see him.
Edmund: He's here?
Alex: Mm-hmm. Just got out of the trailer. Do you want see him?

Gillian: Oh, thank God you're here. Where's Jake?
Ruth: Well, we thought he'd be here.
Gillian: He didn't -- he didn't spend the night with you last night?
Tad: No.
Joe: Gillian, we'd have called you if he showed up.
Gillian: He never did? Oh, God. Where could he be? I stayed up all last night and I called the boarding house, the hospital --
Tad: We know. Myrtle told us you called every hour on the hour.
Dixie: Honey, I know you're worried, but Jake has got a lot to deal with right now.
Gillian: But no one's seen him since yesterday.
Tad: I did. I saw him yesterday afternoon at the Valley Inn Bar, but he didn't want any company. He certainly didn't want mine.
Gillian: Did he say anything about --
Tad: He didn't say anything. He didn't want to talk, certainly not to me. But before I left, I did tell him what Leslie had told us -- that there's still a chance he could win custody.
Gillian: Did it do any good?

Adam: Why should Jake believe anything you say, Gillian? You're one of the people who lied to him.
Barry: Adam, now is not the time.
Gillian: Are you happy now? Your nasty little secret is out.
Adam: No, no, it's your nasty little secret. I've been vindicated by the truth.
Gillian: Jake deserves to be Colby's father. Everyone knows that.
Adam: Well, now everyone knows that I am Colby's biological father, and no court in the land would go against me on that. Jake can snivel all he wants about what a great daddy he is.

[Gillian attacks Adam]

Tad: No! No, no.
Adam: Someone should control this woman.

Woman: There we go. Where is that blankie, huh? There we go. Here it is. Oh, Dr. Martin.
Jake: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, Harriet.
Harriet: Are you all right?
Jake: I'm fine. I just wanted to see Colby.
Harriet: Well, Mrs. Chandler didn't mention a visit this morning. I thought everyone was at the courthouse.
Jake: Yeah. You've heard about what's going on?
Harriet: Mm-hmm.
Jake: So you know.
Harriet: Oh, yes. Mrs. Chandler told me. I still can't believe you aren't Colby's biological -- I mean, I -- I shouldn't say this, but it's a real shame you aren't Colby's biological father. I've never seen a man take to a child the way you have with this little girl. Colby and I were just going downstairs for her bottle. Would you like to join us?
Jake: Actually, I'd like to sit up here. I'll wait for you to come back, if that's ok.

[Colby fusses]

Jake: Hey, it's ok.
Hey. Hey. Come to daddy. Yeah, right here. Right here. Oh, yeah.
Harriet: Some time in your arms is just what she needs.
Jake: I'll take good care of her.
Harriet: You always have. I'll be right back.
Jake: Ok.
You. Oh. Yes. You're just as beautiful today as you were yesterday. Just as feisty.

Edmund: Alex?
Alex: Yeah?
Edmund: That's quite a gift. Thank you.
Alex: What do you really think, though?
Edmund: I think he's magnificent.
Alex: Yes.
Edmund: And think if you had a horse with that much spirit when you were teenager, well, no wonder you're a hell of a rider.
Alex: Oh, I was obsessed. I used to stay with the horses sometimes overnight just to be close to them. I can't wait to get started on him.
Edmund: You know, a horse like this, though, it's a big responsibility -- you know, long-term.
Alex: Do you think I would have brought such a magnificent creature to Wildwind if I wasn't going to stay here and watch him reach his potential?
Edmund: How long you think that would take?
Alex: Months. Years, even. Right, I'm going to go talk to Angus, get him clean out his stall.
Edmund: Uh, Angus -- Alex, he's -- he's gone.
Alex: What do you mean?
Edmund: Yeah, he's --
Alex: He left?
Edmund: Yeah, he left me a note. Actually, with Peggy. It said, "family emergency."
Alex: Uh -- Edmund: I can read it. He doesn't know when he's going to come back and we have to hire somebody in the interim until he knows his plans.
Alex: Oh, well, it's a good thing I know my way around a hoof pick, isn't it? Edmund: You going to clean out the stalls, too?
Alex: I can muck with the best of them.
Edmund: What?
Alex: What?
Edmund: I've just never seen anybody so excited about manure. Alex: I can teach you, if you like.
Edmund: No, thank you. I got to go the tack shop, see if I can get us a trainer and a groom for that creature of yours.
Alex: Creature of yours.

Tad: Yeah, by all means, pick him up.
Barry: Are you all right?
Adam: No thanks to that lunatic.
Liza: What the hell is going on?
Adam: One of your peace-loving Martins just attacked me.
Liza: Unprovoked, I'm sure.
Tad: Actually, I wasn't finished.
Dixie: No --
Adam: Be my witness, Barry. Add assault to his list of offenses.
Tad: What the hell's Shire doing here, anyway? Where's Jackson?
Liza: Jack quit after he realized he was being lied to.
Adam: Well, good riddance. It's over anyway. Colby is mine. I mean, ours.
Barry: Let's wait for the judge, Adam.
Adam: She'll rubber-stamp the obvious.
Joe: Oh, I don't know about that, Adam. Biology doesn't change the facts as regards your track record as a parent.
Adam: Biology's everything, and you know it, Joe. She's as good as mine.
Tad: If I were you, I'd be worried.
Dixie: Yeah, did you see the look on the judge's face when she heard what you did?
Tad: She probably thinks you're morally bankrupt.
Adam: Oh, don't you get self-righteous with me, you thief. You stole millions of dollars from me.
Gillian: And you stole my husband's happiness, his reason for living.
Adam: I didn't take anything away from Jake. Colby was never his to begin with. Why are you all standing there looking at me like that? Every one of you would have done exactly the same thing to claim your child if you were in my position.
Joe: We could never be in your position.
Ruth: What you have done to Jake is --
Adam: Oh, poor Jake. Jake is young. He can have a gaggle of children. Isn't that what you want, Gillian? Or is the honeymoon over now that he's found out you lied to him about -- what did he call it? -- The soul purpose of his life?
Tad: Normal human beings don't replace children like toys, Adam, and they certainly don't do it for vengeance.
Adam: How are you going to pay back that $75.9 Million you stole from me? You'd better be glad that I got my child back because I'm in too good a mood to press charges right now.
Liza: Adam, do you ever shut up?
Adam: I'm defending myself from an attack here.
Liza: Don't you understand that what you did is indefensible?
Barry: Adam, we're due in court soon. Let's get you presentable. Come on.

Liza: Mr. And Mrs. Martin? I know over the years that I've done a lot of things that would justify you shutting me out of your life and you never did so. You've always found it in your heart and in your family to shower me with love. And after everything that Jake has gone through and the pain that he's feeling, I would understand if you couldn't forgive me.
Joe: Liza, I was telling Ruth last night about your testimony. We both feel that whatever the rights or wrongs of what you did, your intentions have always been good.
Ruth: You only wanted to raise your child surrounded by love. Now, what mother wouldn't want that for her child?
Liza: I don't deserve your kindness.
Joe: No matter who Colby's father is, she's always going to be part of our family.
Ruth: And so will you.
Liza: That's gracious of you. But I don't know that Jake would agree. I have apologized to him.
Joe: Oh. Jake has just suffered a devastating loss. I'm afraid it's going to take a very long time before he's able to come to terms with what's happened.

[Telephone rings]

Liza: I'm sorry. Excuse me.
Hello?
Harriet: Mrs. Chandler, I left the room for a bottle. I wasn't gone five minutes. I know things are different now, but I didn't expect --
Liza: Harriet, what's wrong?
Harriet: Dr. Martin came by. Colby's face lit up like it always does. She was so happy to see him.
Liza: Harriet, would you just tell me what happened?
Harriet: I went to get her bottle and when I came back, the room was empty. Dr. Martin and Colby -- they're gone.
Liza: Colby's gone? Are you sure?
Adam: What happened?
Liza: Adam, stop it. Harriet, go ahead.
Harriet: I've searched the house, the grounds. Winifred and Lucretia helped me. They vanished.
Liza: Oh, my God. Uh, we'll be right there. We'll be right there.

Tad: Liza? What is it?
Liza: Uh, Jake -- Colby's gone.
Adam: Good God.
Liza: Jake came to see her. They were playing and Harriet left the room, and when she returned, they were gone. What are we going to do?
Adam: Don't worry. I'll find her

Alex: No, I just want Dr. Wheat to look at him. Thoroughbred gelding, just turned 3. I had him vetted already, but I didn't get the x-rays back yet. Yeah. No, no, no, no, he seems really sound. I just -- I want to make sure he doesn't have navicular. Ok. Thanks.

Alex's voice: Come on, say it to my face. You think I killed Maximillian.
Edmund: I pulled the trigger. I killed him, didn't I?
Alex: Yeah, but it's my fault he's dead. If I hadn't taken him out and ridden him --
Edmund: "If," "if," "if"! If you hadn't come to this town, Alex -- it's not the horse. It's just everything. It's all the hell you put us through.
Alex: You think I wanted any of this to happen? I've lost my husband.
Edmund: And I lost my brother! And it's because of you. Want to know what I feel? You want to know how many times I wish to God that you never met my brother? How I hate him for turning to you and cutting the rest of us out of his life?
Alex: Well, that had nothing to do with me. That was his choice.
Edmund: You took him away from us. You're not a healer, Alex. You're a death sentence. Your love killed him. And everything you say you love, everything you touch dies.

Alex: I just want to get on with my life.
Edmund: Alex, you still here?
Alex: Yep.
Edmund: Good. Alex, meet Guy Donahue, our new trainer.
Alex: Oh. Your kidding?
Edmund: I met him at the tack shop. What are the odds?
Alex: I don't know. They must be in our favor today. What kind of experience have you had?
Guy: With horses? Well, I've been around horses all my life. Dabbled in everything, competed mostly in a-circuit hunter/jumpers.
Alex: Oh, that's very competitive.
Guy: Mm-hmm.
Edmund: Well, you're not going to be talking to the horses like in that movie, are you?
Guy: Mr. Grey, I do whatever it takes to reach an understanding. I don't have much respect for trainers who have to beat their horses into submission. Patience. That's the key. My horses work with me, not for me.
Alex: Shall we give it a try?
Edmund: You want to meet your charge?
Guy: You bet.
Edmund: Good.
Alex: All right.
Guy: You coming, ma'am?
Alex: Yeah.

Derek: How long did you leave the baby alone with Dr. Martin?
Harriet: It couldn't have been more than three or four minutes -- five at the most.
Derek: Did he say or do anything that was suspicious?
Harriet: If he had, I wouldn't have left him alone with Colby. This is such a shock.
Adam: What kind of a nanny are you, leaving my daughter alone with that man?
Harriet: He's been her father. He's so good with her. I felt sorry for him.
Adam: You felt sorry for a kidnapper? Well, no. You're on the short list for termination.
Liza: Oh, Adam, please. Derek, are you finished with Harriet?
Derek: Yeah. Thank you. You can go.
Adam: Thanks for getting here so quickly. What have you found?
Derek: Nothing. Lucretia was in the kitchen when Harriet got the bottle, and Winifred was watering plants in the parlor.
Liza: You know, maybe he hasn't even left the property, Derek.
Derek: Well, my people have searched this house, basement to attic, and the grounds. I sent somebody down to the gatehouse just now.
Adam: No, forget it. He's gone.
Liza: What? How can you be so sure?
Adam: It's those blasted tunnels. Jake knows them.
Liza: What are you suggesting?
Adam: Well, isn't it obvious? He's kidnapped our daughter!
Liza: What?
Adam: I want an APB Out on this guy.
Liza: Jake would never kidnap Colby.
Adam: He just did it, Liza. He sneaked into this house when he knew we weren't here, he convinced Harriet to leave him alone with her, and he escaped through the tunnels.
Liza: I trust him, Adam.
Adam: He's very angry at us. He'd do anything he could to hurt us.
Liza: I don't care! No matter how angry he is, he's not going to steal Colby from me!
Adam: How can you possibly believe that?
Liza: Because he's not you.

Ruth: You know, taking -- taking Colby from her nursery -- why would Jake do such a thing?
Joe: I guess he's just overwhelmed about losing Colby.
Ruth: You don't think he'd really try to run with her, do you?
Joe: Well, he can be impulsive, but he's level-headed. I'm not worried.
Tad: Well, I wouldn't blame him if he did take off. I mean, except for you and Mom, he thinks we've all let him down.
Dixie: As far as he's concerned, we're as bad as Adam and Liza.
Gillian: No, Jake's too unselfish to do such a thing. He would never jeopardize his -- Colby.

Tad: What's up?
Leslie: Judge Mayo is open to a new hearing that will admit the evidence of Adam's paternity.
Tad: Well, that doesn't sound good.
Leslie: Well, given all the damning evidence against Adam, we still have a strong case. What happened? Should I sit down?
Tad: Jake took Colby from the Chandler mansion without asking permission.
Leslie: Oh, no. He knows that we still have a possibility of winning. Has anybody heard from him? Having him flip out is not going to win any points with the judge.
Gillian: Adam's calling it kidnapping.
Leslie: Of course he is.
Joe: Let's give Jake the benefit of the doubt, not just assume the worst.
Dixie: Yeah, maybe he just wanted to spend a little time with Colby before whatever happens in court today.
Tad: I'm going to make some phone calls and talk to Myrtle, see what I can find out.
Dixie: I'll come with you.

Leslie: I'd better update Barry on the latest developments, although I'm sure he's already held a war court with Adam.

Ruth: Where could Jake have taken the baby?
Joe: I don't know. Someplace he feels is safe.
Ruth: Is there such a place? I mean, Jake feels that losing Colby is like losing his future. You just can't escape from that kind of pain.
Gillian: "His future." I think I know where Jake is.

Jake: Hey. Hey, here's your room. Yeah. I had to borrow it last night. I hope you don't mind. But I made some plans while I was here. I thought maybe we could -- could put your crib right there and your dresser over there. And where do you want to put your rocking chair? I think right here would be perfect. Yeah, this is your -- your safe place. I know. Those teeth are probably bothering you. Would you believe that they're going to have to come right back out? Yeah, it's kind of silly, isn't it? Yeah, but pretty soon you'll have a bed, and then you can put the tooth right under the pillow. I know it sounds kind of weird, but the tooth fairy will come and give you some money for it. I'm not sure what the going rate is now, but -- yeah. You don't believe me? I -- I think you should believe me. Because I'd never lie to you.
Jake: That's the back yard. We're going to have some picnics down there. And then there's a big elm tree back there where I'm going to put a swing and when you get older and you're awake, you can look through there and see Grandma and Grandpa's house. And we can walk over there, if you want. Would -- would you like that? Grandma and Grandpa love you very much. We all do. I just want you to have a very good life, Colby. I want you to have a very good life.

Derek: Maybe the tapes from the surveillance cameras will turn up something. I'll go take a look.
Adam: Yeah, Winifred can show you where they are. Well, what do you think of your sainted Jake now?
Liza: I think that we destroyed his world, Adam. If you could have just seen him last night. He was --
Adam: Last night? Was he here last night?
Liza: Adam, he just -- he just wanted to --
Adam: He just wanted to kidnap Colby.
Liza: No.
Adam: Liza, you foiled his attempt and he came back this morning. Open your eyes!
Liza: Adam! He doesn't know where to turn. He doesn't know what to do. That doesn't mean that he took Colby. He's an honest and decent man.
Adam: Well, the honest and decent Jake Martin waltzed into this house, sweet-talked the nanny, and took our daughter without our permission.
Liza: Well, Jake will bring her back.
Adam: Oh. And if he doesn't?
Liza: He will.
Adam: Well, fine, fine. Then I'll nominate him for sainthood. That's just after I have him arrested for kidnapping.

Derek: The tapes confirm it. Jake used the tunnels.
Adam: I'm glad you're back. Jake tried to kidnap this child last night.
Liza: Adam, that's not -- Adam: It was an obvious, premeditated attempt at kidnapping, and the man is obviously deranged. Now, I want an APB Out on him. I'm talking about the airports, the railroad station, the bus station. I want -- I want roadblocks between here and Center City. If you need any more men, you can use some of my security staff.
Liza: It's wrong, Adam!
Adam: No, no, I'll tell you what's wrong. What's wrong is Jake trying to steal my daughter. And I'm going to set it right.
Liza: How dare you. You are the reason she's gone.

Jake: When I was a little boy, my room was my favorite place. It could be -- well, it could be anything I wanted it to be. It could be a fort or a battleship or a -- a football field. Then every night, my mom would come and -- and tuck me in. Even when I thought I was alone I wasn't. See, in our family, there will always be somebody to talk to. There will always be somebody you can hug if you're having a bad day. I'm just trying -- I'm trying to be a good dad. Grandpa Joe's kind of a hard act to follow, though. But the most important thing is that they tell me I could -- I could be whatever I wanted and I could do whatever I wanted, and that's the kind of childhood that I want to give you. Pretty soon you're going to be walking. And then, in a few years, I'll teach you how to ride a bike. And then a few years after that -- it's hard to believe, but I'll teach you how to drive -- and I will definitely do that because that's a daddy's job. And then you'll have your first prom. And I'll see you standing there, smiling at me, all grown-up in your dress, and I'll wonder how my sweet baby girl grew up to be such a -- a beautiful young woman.

Joe: Jake?
Jake: Dad. What are you doing here?
Ruth: Well, we just -- we have been kind of worried about you, you know?
Jake: I'm fine. How'd you -- how'd you find me?
Ruth: Uh -- Gillian told us that you might be here. We've all been so worried and so sad.
Jake: Look at her, Mom. She's sweet. How do I -- how do I stop being her father?

Gillian: Did you find Jake?
Tad: No, but maybe Dad has.
Dixie: I'm betting Jake's going to show up for the hearing.
Gillian: Everything Adam said is coming true. He said that if I wasn't going to tell Jake the truth, he would hate me.
Tad: Gillian, now isn't the time to start believing anything Adam says. You did what you thought was best for everyone, especially Colby.
Dixie: Yeah, Tad and I made the same choice.
Gillian: Oh, God, I just don't know how to help him anymore.
Tad: Well, we've got to try, even if he doesn't want to have anything to do with us.
Gillian: Adam is getting everything he wanted.
Tad: The judge hasn't ruled yet.
Gillian: Don't you see this? He's ripping your whole family apart, and nothing makes him happier except maybe winning custody of Colby.
Dixie: Nothing can hurt our family.
Gillian: You're family. He'll forgive you.
Dixie: But so are you.
Gillian: No. No, when I married Jake, I lied to myself. I thought I was helping him get custody of Colby. I thought I was protecting him against this lie, but I was a coward. I didn't believe our love could take this.
Tad: Eventually, he will understand why you did what you did.
Gillian: No, when I told him the truth yesterday, just the look in his face --
Tad: We're all going to be scarred by this. But he does love you and he is going to forgive you.

Guy: Whole lot of chrome on that boy.
Alex: Yeah.
Guy: Haven't seen a horse this promising in a long time. Right off the track?
Alex: Yeah, you ever work with a horse like that before?
Guy: Well, California -- King's Ranch and Galway Downs, Artes Stables.
Alex: Oh, I don't know any of those, I'm afraid. I'm new to the states.
Guy: Oh.
Alex: What brought you out east?
Guy: Well, the circuit in the east has a rep of being a little tougher than the west.
Alex: Hmm.
Guy: I like -- I like the competition.
Alex: So you're ambitious, huh?
Guy: Oh, I'm making my way around slowly.
Alex: Where do you suggest that we begin with him?
Guy: Well, check his ground manners, work him on the longer line a little. We go from there, maybe try some poles. You have a variety of bits?
Alex: Yeah. I was thinking maybe we could start him out on a rubber snaffle.
Guy: Well, I'll give that a try. You know your horses.
Alex: No, you're the trainer. And the groom, apparently, for now.
Guy: Well, yeah, Mr. Grey explained all that.
Alex: That means mucking, feeding, cleaning after two horses.
Guy: I find taking care of horses very peaceful.
Edmund: Well, speaking of mucking, I've got a writer to meet back at the house. Guy, listen, if you need anything, we have an account at the tack shop. Welcome aboard.
Guy: Thanks. That's great. Ok.
Alex: I'd better get going, too. I'm glad Edmund ran into you.

Guy: Mm-hmm. Oh, before you go, what do I call him?
Alex: Oh, Mr. Grey.
Guy: The horse?
Alex: Sorry?
Guy: The horse have a name?
Alex: No. No, we didn't name him yet. I don't know. We've been -- well, I was thinking maybe we could call him Maximillian after this horse that we both loved, but it doesn't seem right.
Guy: What, something happened to Maximillian?
Alex: Yeah, he got injured --
Guy: Oh.
Alex: Had to be put down.
Guy: Well, that's a shame. So what's your second choice?
Alex: Scorpio. Yeah. I'll talk to Edmund. He might have another idea.
Guy: Scorpio?
Alex: Yeah. Guy: Stargazer? Astronomy or astrology?
Alex: No. No, neither. I just -- I don't know. It just fits.
Guy: Mr. Grey has a great facility here. State-of-the-art hot-walker, perfectly maintained rings.
Alex: Yeah. Well, I'm a stickler for good footing. You know, I've seen too many horses get injured jumping on hard ground.
Guy: It's nice working for people who care about their animals. Thank you for hiring me. Not many people will take a chance on a perfect stranger like that.
Alex: Edmund's a good guy.
Guy: He's generous, too. He told me I could bunk here for a while till Scorpio gets used to me -- if that's ok with you.
Alex: Yeah, sure. I mean, as long as you'll be comfortable.
Guy: I dig comfy. All right.
Alex: Ok.
Alex: Good-bye.
Guy: Yeah, bye.

Jake: Adam waves a piece of paper around, switches a test tube, and I'm not her father anymore -- just like that. How can that be?
Joe: The court hasn't ruled yet, son.
Jake: How do I stop worrying about her? How do I wake up in the morning and not wonder if she slept well? How do I look at her and not -- and not see a part of myself?
Ruth: Darling, she's always going to be a part of your life and you will always be a part of hers.
Jake: Not according to Adam's DNA results. Ruth: Oh, but the kind of love that you and Colby share has nothing to do with DNA.
Joe: It's not blood that makes a family, son. It's heart.
Jake: How can she not be mine? Mom, dad, I had plans. I -- I had plans.
Joe: Jake, you've been a father to Colby from the moment she was born, and you're always going to have a father's love for her. You're always going to want what's best for her because that -- that's the kind of man you are.
Jake: What's best for her is us -- right? -- Is to be a Martin. That's what's best for her.
Ruth: You know, we'll continue to give her all the love and support that she needs to have the kind of childhood that you've dreamed of her having.
Joe: And no matter how the court rules, you will always be part of Colby's life.
Jake: Dad, Adam won't allow that. Colby's his now. I -- I've lost her.
Joe: Oh, son, we'll find a way.

Ruth: I'd like to call Tad and Dixie and Gillian, of course, and let them know that you're all right and found you with Colby and everything. Ok?
Jake: Ok.
[Telephone rings]

Tad: Hello?
Ruth: Oh. Hi, darling, it's Mom. I just wanted to call and tell you that we found -- we found Jake.
Tad: And what about Colby? Is she all right?
Ruth: Colby's just fine.
Tad: How's Jake?
Gillian: Can I talk to him, please?
Tad: Listen, Gillian wants to speak with him.
Ruth: I think it would be better if we'd wait just a little bit, honey, ok?
Ruth: Oh, oh, oh, tad, listen, will you do me a favor? Will you please call Liza and tell her that Colby is ok?
Tad: Yeah. Sure. Thanks, Ma.

Ruth: They're glad you're all right. Gillian wanted to talk to you.
Joe: Jake, it's chilly here. I'd hate for Colby to catch a cold. Are you ready to go?
Jake: Where? Where do I go from here?

Edmund: Hey.
Alex: Hi.
Edmund: Guy get settled in ok?
Alex: Yeah. I was surprised to hear you said he could live here.
Edmund: Is there a problem with that?
Alex: No. It's nice of you to give him a place to stay.
Edmund: Well, you know, I checked out his references and he seems to be honest and hard-working and works miracles with horses.
Alex: I know. Seems too good to be true.
Edmund: You pick up some strange vibe?
Alex: No. I mean, as long as he's good with horses, and this one in particular.
Edmund: Have you named him yet?
Alex: No. Don't you want to do that?
Edmund: Well, you seem to have such a connection to this horse.
Alex: I was thinking of Scorpio.
Edmund: The scorpion. Noted for its deadly sting. Should I be worried about riding him?

Judge: This hearing is now in session. Counsel, does your client plan on gracing us with his presence?
Leslie: Dr. Martin is aware of the schedule, your honor. I expect him momentarily.
Judge: Mr. Shire, do your clients intend on appearing?
Barry: Absolutely, your honor.

Adam: See? I told you. He's kidnapped Colby.
Adam: What was that about?
Liza: Nothing.
Adam: Does Tad know something? Do you know where Jake is?

Judge: Ms. Coulson, do you have any idea of the whereabouts of Dr. Martin?
Leslie: He plans to be here, your honor. Something must have delayed him.

Adam: Yeah, like kidnapping. It can play hell with a man's schedule. Your honor?

Judge: Dr. Martin, you're late. Please be seated and we'll proceed. Mr. Chandler? Sit down. As the court is aware, I was about to give custody of the minor child, Colby Martin, to Dr. Martin when Mrs. Chandler revealed that her husband is the biological father, though not of her choice. Due to the highly unusual circumstances of this hearing, I would like to hear from counsel first. Ms. Coulson, does your client agree to a new hearing?
Leslie: Jake?
Judge: Dr. Martin, the court is waiting. Is it your wish proceed in a new hearing to determine the custody of Colby Martin?

On the next "All My Children" --

Adam: You go right ahead. You hold my daughter one last time.

Guy: I'm not the man you think I am.

Arlene: Don't listen to him, sweetie. I didn't kill anyone.
