ALL MY CHILDREN

MARCH 21, 2002

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Vanessa: You're here. You -- you can save Mommy, can't you? My lost child. I know, I know, I know --

J.R.: What were you doing in my room?
Liza: Why? Is it off-limits?
Adam: Then you did search J.R.'S room?
J.R.: Told you.
Liza: And I fully intend to do it again.

Edmund: I love you, Brooke. Will you marry me?

TODAY’S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Adam: Barry.
Winifred: Will you be wanting coffee, Mr. Chandler?
Adam: No. No, we don't want to be disturbed, either.
Winifred: Yes, sir.

Adam: How bad is it?
Barry: Robinson and Associates have reviewed Chandler Enterprises' books. You were right. Someone's siphoning off cash.
Adam: How much?
Barry: The losses are significant, Adam.
Adam: Damn it, I -- look, I know it's significant. How -- how -- is my company in trouble?
Barry: Huge trouble. Robinson can't figure out who's responsible or where they've directed the funds.
Adam: Well, I can. The funds have gone to Lima. She's stockpiling.
Barry: But why? What's going on?
Adam: She's leaving me.

Liza: Sweetie, do you have your fool's gold rock?
Colby: Yes, and I’m going to fool them with it.
Liza: Oh, that's good. Oh, Darling, why don't you knock on the door for me.
[Knock on door]
Marian: Darlings.
Colby: Hello.
Marian: Stuart, look who's here.
Stuart: Hi!
Liza: Colby's preschool was canceled today, so she wanted to come here.
Stuart: Oh. Well, we are flattered.
Liza: I offered to take her shopping or a movie, and she wanted to see the two of you. Are you ok?
Marian: Oh, I’ve got laryngitis.
Stuart: Did you bring your rock collection?
Colby: Look.
Stuart: In here?
Liza: Now, is Stuart your only secret weapon, or are you bribing her with special treats?
Marian: Oh, Stuart, we have been found out.
Stuart: How about a crispy square?
Colby: Mia!
Liza: Mia.
Mia: Hi.
Colby: I've been singing the song you taught me.
Mia: You have?
Liza: So, since when did all of you become so chummy?

Brooke: Why would you let him anywhere near Vanessa Cortlandt?
Edmund: All right, it was a mistake at the time, but I --
Brooke: Why would you even risk it?
Jamie: I'm ok, Mom.
Edmund: Look, I didn't expect to see Vanessa, ok? And I certainly didn't expect her to break out --
Brooke: And attack my son?
Jamie: She didn't hurt me.
Brooke: She could have.
Edmund: Brooke, Brooke -- look, she was going on about -- about Jamie being her son. It freaked me out, too. I am so sorry this happened.
Jamie: You couldn't have helped it.
Brooke: Listen, I -- let's take a walk, all right? I just want a couple of minutes alone with you, ok?
Jamie: Ok.

Anna: Hi.
David: Hey.
Anna: I hear your mother's been busy. She grab a child or something?
David: Yeah, Brooke’s son, Jamie. How'd you hear?
Anna: I'm being sworn in as police chief today. Everything Proteus does gets reported to me.
David: So you're taking statements?
Anna: No. No official visits until I say "I do" to the mayor. You all right?
David: Well, watching my mother fake a psychotic episode wasn't exactly the best way to start the day, but --
[Anna gasps]
Anna: Hey!
Tad: But your day just got a hell of a lot worse.
David: Get your hands off.
Tad: I tell you what -- you tell me where the hell Dixie really is and I just might.
Anna: Get off him!
David: Why don't you get a grip before somebody calls security.
Anna: Tad --
Tad: It's all right, Anna. It's ok.
Anna: Both of you.
Tad: I just got back from Europe, from a two-week wild-goose chase.
David: And this means something to me because?
Tad: Because you knew Dixie wasn't in Europe in the first place!
Anna: It's fine. Everything's under control. Thank you.
Tad: I tracked down Lanie. She's supposed to be staying with her. She wasn't.
David: Uh-huh, and Lanie didn't give you any information, is that it?
Tad: You know damn well she didn't.
David: How the hell would I know that?
Tad: Because you were in on it together.
David: In on what?
Tad: Trying to keep Dixie away from me.
David: You couldn't be more wrong.
Anna: I agree.
Tad: Yeah, well, there's a shock.
Anna: He's been right here.
Tad: Anna, do me a favor, ok? Don't cover for him.
Anna: I'm not covering for him!
David: There's nothing to cover for.
Anna: He's got plenty to do right here.
Tad: Yeah, I’ll bet. One way or another, Hayward, I’m going to get some answers from you.
David: All right, look, why don't you try this on for size. Dixie is a grownup. She makes her own decisions. Now, if she's decided to stay away from you, maybe you should just accept that.
Tad: Why did she leave? What is she trying to hide?
David: I don't know!
Tad: The hell you don't. That's why you're protecting her.
David: Let me fill you in on a little local news since you were away, ok? My mother has been arrested for murder and drug trafficking. I've been working overtime trying to keep whatever's left of my family together. But you can't find your ex-wife? Well, everybody in this town seems to have a problem. Evidently, that one is yours.
Anna: Tad, just leave it. He doesn't know anything.
David: I moved on, Tad. So has Dixie. Why don't you give it a try?

Anna: Oh. What -- you all right? I am --
Tad: Yeah. No, I’m fine.
Anna: If he had any of the information you were after, I would know.
Tad: Anna, I got nothing against you, ok?
Anna: Thanks.
Tad: So with all due respect, you're not the first woman he's fooled and you're definitely not going to be the last.

Jake: Hey. When'd you get back?
Tad: This morning. My day's been going downhill since.
Jake: Yeah. Have you seen Mom or Dad yet?
Tad: No. Why? What's wrong?
Jake: Well, no, no, everything is fine with Mom and Dad --
Tad: But?
Jake: Well, Dad resigned yesterday.
Tad: What?
Jake: Thank you. Yeah. You're looking at the new chief of staff.
Tad: You?
Jake: Me.
Tad: Don't get me wrong. That's great. I mean, I’m very, very proud of you, but that's ridiculous. Dad put his heart and soul in this place for 30 years. Why would he quit?
Jake: Yeah, I know, I know.
David: Just get it to the lab, stat.
Tad: No. Dad resigned because of Hayward?

Jamie: Dad. Hey.
Tad: Hey, sport, how are you?
Brooke: Tad.
Tad: Good to see you. What are you doing here?
Jamie: Edmund and I were doing reporter stuff, and Ms. Cortlandt totally freaked.
Tad: What do you mean, "freaked"?
Brooke: Vanessa managed to grab Jamie for a little while. It was -- it was very upsetting.
Tad: Are you ok? Are you hurt?
Jamie: Yeah. She's pretty scary, though.
Tad: Yeah, I’ll bet. What the hell's going on? Since when'd he get to play junior reporter with your staff?
Brooke: Well, Edmund’s a little more than a member of my staff. He's --
Jamie: Mom and Edmund are getting married.
Edmund: What did I miss?
Tad: Evidently, not much.

Stuart: How about that crispy square. Come on, let's go.
Liza: So you and my daughter have become so close that you're teaching her songs?
Mia: Just one.
Liza: So you are responsible for "The Wheels On the Bus Go Round and Round"?
Mia: Afraid so, yeah.
Liza: And when did all this bonding take place?
Mia: You know, Colby, she's just so inquisitive and she's amazing.
Liza: Yeah, yeah, I know how glorious she is. Why didn't I know about all this?
Mia: And, you know, you've really done a great job of raising her. You really have.
Liza: Excuse me. Why is it that you can't answer a question directly? All right, Mother, I think the ball has been lobbed effectively into your court.
Marian: Well, you see, Darling, Mia and I have gotten better acquainted.
Liza: Right. Which explains the informality.
Marian: Well, we wanted her to feel at home.
Liza: Really?
Mia: Really. I'm living here, Liza.

Barry: What has Liza said about a divorce?
Adam: Recently, nothing. But Lavery's back in the picture.
Barry: Do you think she's ensuring her future with Ryan Lavery?
Adam: And doing a hell of a job of it.
Barry: Adam, she could live comfortably on a fraction of what this is costing you.
Adam: Maybe she's trying to ruin me.
Barry: But why?
Adam: So I won't have the resources to fight for Colby.
Barry: What the hell happened between you two?
Adam: I haven't a clue.
Barry: Adam, the woman has slashed you open. Something happened.
Adam: Lavery?
Barry: Well, it's got to be more than that. I mean, you'd reconciled.
Adam: It hasn't been the same. Liza's never been the same.
Barry: How has she changed?
Adam: She's distant. She's irritable -- just with me. With Colby -- she's wonderful with Colby.
Barry: How have things been in the bedroom?
Adam: What are you asking? Whether she left me to go to Lavery because I wasn't satisfying her?
Barry: No. No, no. That's not what I was talking about --
Adam: This is about the money and power, not sex.
Barry: Look, all -- all I was asking was did some evening maybe she mentioned something, gave you some warning?
Adam: No, she did not. Stealing from me to finance her future with Lavery never came up.
Barry: So she's been running your company for you and never gave a hint what she was up to?
Adam: What the hell difference does it make now? My marriage is tanking.

J.R.: You and Liza are getting a divorce?

Jake: So, Edmund, I guess congratulations are in order.
Edmund: Oh.
Jake: All the best.
Tad: You and Brooke are engaged?
Edmund: Thank you. Yes, thanks. Here, guys. Thought you might like these.
Jamie: Oh, excellent. Thanks.
Tad: I didn't even know you were going steady.
Edmund: Well, it hasn't exactly been a secret, Tad.
Tad: Ok. Well, then, I won't ask you to elaborate. You know, I -- I hope you two will be very happy.
Brooke: So do we.
Edmund: We will be.
Tad: Listen, I was just talking to Jamie about what happened with Vanessa Cortlandt.
Edmund: Yeah. That was unfortunate.

David: Hey, Jamie.
Jamie: Hi.
David: You all right?
Jamie: Yeah, I’m all right.
David: Look, I just want to apologize for my mother. She didn't mean to frighten you. She's just -- well, she's ill, you know? She's just very, very disturbed right now.
Jamie: She just thought I was someone else.
David: Yeah, she did. Well, thanks for understanding. You're very brave.
Jamie: It was just weird is all.
David: Yeah, you said a mouthful. Look, if there's anything I can do for you, let me know, ok?
Tad: You can make sure they keep her locked up.

Jake: You know what? Why don't you come on back to my office and I’m going to fill you in on the situation with Dad.
Tad: Yeah, I’ll do that. Brooke?
Brooke: Yes?
Tad: Do you guys have to leave right away?
Brooke: No, we can hang around for a little while.
Edmund: They're not going to starve.
Tad: Ok. Listen, I’m just going to be a minute.

Edmund: It's amazing how kids bounce back.
Brooke: Are you crazy? I could bounce you out the window on to your head for bringing Jamie into this horror show.

Tad: Hmm. You're certainly making yourself feel at home. Where's your basketball hoop?
Jake: Give it a week, it'll be up.
Tad: Look at this place. It's amazing, you know? You'd never know Dad was the chief of staff for over 30 years.
Jake: Listen -- I want to explain to you how all this came about.
Tad: It's all right. I'm processing an awful lot right now. It's just going to have to wait.
Jake: Tad, Dad felt like this was the best way to fight David Hayward.
Tad: "Dad felt"? What are you saying, he's ok with you taking over?
Jake: He's relieved about it, yes.
Tad: At least that's something. Listen, I don't want to cut you off, but the fact is the only reason I’m really here is I’m trying to collect some information on Dixie.
Jake: What can I do?
Tad: Well, for starters, Mr. Chief of Staff, you can authorize my access to David Hayward’s files.
Jake: Tad, you know I can't do that, so don't even ask me.
Tad: Ok. Then help me steal them.

Adam: Son, we were just wrapping it up. Barry, would you get back to me on that other matter?
Barry: Yeah, I’ll continue my research. J.R.

J.R.: So you and Liza are getting a divorce, huh?
Adam: No. No, no, no. Divorce never came up.
J.R.: You said your marriage was tanking.
Adam: Well, you know me. When I get angry, I sometimes overstate things. You wouldn't know that, having never seen anything but my good side.
[Adam chuckles]
J.R.: Don't joke about it, Dad. Seriously.
Adam: No, I’m not, I’m not. I just -- Liza and I are all right. We're all right. Here, here. Please have a seat.
J.R.: Did you two ever talk about what happened the night that Mia came over for dinner?
Adam: Liza was in a foul mood.
J.R.: Yeah, I noticed that. But did she ever say why?
Adam: Well, she -- she's been busy and I’ve been busy. That's --
J.R..: So you don't know that she's accused me of something?
Adam: I know that she's terribly upset about the drugs.
J.R.: No, no, not that. After -- after you left, she went off on me about something else.
Adam: What did she say?
J.R.: She said that she knew what I was up to and that she wasn't going to let me get away with it.
Adam: Well, she's been under a lot of stress.
J.R.: Yeah, thanks to me.
Adam: No, no, don't take that on yourself. That's -- it's not your fault, J.R.
J.R.: Dad, she's accusing me of doing drugs, ok? She's -- she's searching my room, and now she's going off on me about other stuff.
Adam: And you don't know what the other stuff is?
J.R.: No, I don't.
Adam: Because you haven't done anything.
J.R.: Look, I -- I really think Liza’s lost it.
Adam: Believe me, son, I know how you feel.
J.R.: I don't think you do.
Adam: Well, you've had a very rough year.
J.R.: It sucked.
Adam: And your mother leaving -- that hasn't helped.
J.R.: See, now, there's nothing I can do about that.
Adam: I don't think I’ve told you often enough how proud I am of the way you've handled all this.
J.R.: You haven't said it once to me.
Adam: Oh, well, I -- but I feel that you've -- you've had to face a lot in this year.
J.R.: If I -- if I do one more bad thing, they're going to lock me up.
Adam: No, no, that's not going to happen.
J.R.: I hope not.
Adam: No, it won't. Believe that. Because I do.
J.R.: I wish Liza did. She doesn't even want me to live here.
Adam: No, that's not true.
J.R.: It is, Dad. We both know it, ok? Hey, I get it. It's Liza’s house.
Adam: But it's my house, too, and I want you here very much. You will always have a home with me, J.R.
J.R.: I -- I have to go do physics.

Adam: Liza. Liza, Liza. You sure as hell better have your cell phone on.

Liza: Mia is living here?
[Phone rings]
Marian: Oh, is that your cell phone, Darling?
Liza: Yeah. Voice mail will get it.
Mia: You know, Liza, it's only been like, what, a couple of weeks.
Liza: Weeks?
[Ring]
Mia: Remember I told you that I was supposed to go off with Jake Martin and then I --
Liza: Yeah, you gave up your apartment and your job.
Mia: Right. So, basically, I was camping out at the Y.
Marian: She was practically homeless.
Mia: And then I ran into Marian, and we were just kind of talking about it, and --
Marian: And Stuart and I had Scott’s old room, so --
Liza: So -- whoa -- here she is.
Mia: Yeah. I mean, here I am.
Liza: And nobody thought to say anything to me?
Marian: No, no, Darling, we thought about it.
Mia: Oh, yeah, we really wanted to tell you.
Marian: Let's face it, Darling. You know how much I love and adore you, but you're not always the easiest person in the world to deal with.
Liza: So you were staying here when we met in the park and I invited you over for dinner?
Mia: Yes, and I was actually going to tell you that night --
Liza: I know, I know, I know, I know. The JR thing.
Mia: Right. And then I thought I should leave, most likely.
Liza: Look, you know, I don't have a problem with this except --
Marian: Except we kept you out of the loop.
Liza: Mother --
Marian: Look, I take full responsibility for this. Please don't blame Mia.
Liza: Look, you -- you need to know I’m not going to beat you both.
Marian: Darling, I only kept silent out of concern for you.
Liza: Did anybody consider Colby?
Marian: Well, always. Look at her. She adores Mia.
Liza: It's just not right to ask a child to keep a secret from her parents.
Marian: Oh, you never ask Colby to keep a secret from Adam?
Mia: Oh, look, please don't blame Marian and Stuart. They were just trying to do the right thing.
Marian: She really needed help, Darling, and we felt she deserved it.
Liza: I agree. And I -- I understand why you didn't tell me right away.
Marian: You do? You know, because sometimes you're not always so accepting, Liza.
Liza: Can we just not beat that into the ground?
Marian: I'm sorry, Darling. I'm sorry.
Mia: So you're not angry, then?
Liza: No, I kind of wish that you would have taught my daughter a different song -- one that didn't drive me nuts.
Mia: Oh. Well, I do know some others.
Liza: Good. Colby -- you know, she doesn't warm up to just anyone, so if she likes you, I trust that.
Mia: Thank you.
Liza: You're welcome.
Marian: Too bad it's so early. This calls for a champagne toast or at least a full-page ad in "The Bulletin."
Mia: Oh, god, you know what? I got to get to the hospital. Thanks for being so understanding.

Liza: So, was I difficult?
Marian: You, Darling? Never. Never you.

[Phone rings]
Liza: Oh, I should get this. Oh. What do you want, Adam?
Adam: Well, what a happy greeting.
Liza: I'm busy.
Adam: Well, I’m -- that's too bad because I need to talk to you right away.
Liza: Would you?
Adam: Yes, if you could fit me in.
Liza: Can't this wait?
Adam: No. You've put me off long enough.
Liza: All right. Let's get it over with.

Marian: Get what over with?
Liza: Whatever Adam is hell-bent on discussing. Could Colby stay here this afternoon?
Marian: Oh, we'd love it. She and Stuart have formed the rock hound club. They take hammers and smash rocks and find jewels inside.
Liza: That's better luck than I’ve ever had.
Marian: Liza, are you having serious problems at home?
Liza: Oh, no more than usual. I'll see you in a while.
Marian: All right, Darling. Bye-bye.

Stuart: I didn't hear any yelling.
Marian: Oh, no, no. Actually, it went quite well.
Stuart: Good. Then everyone's happy?
Marian: Well, not everyone. I'm afraid Liza is having some problems with Adam.
Stuart: Well, that's pretty normal for them.
Marian: Yes, but this time Liza’s not talking about it, Stuart.
Stuart: Oh. You think it's bad?
Marian: I've got a feeling this could be real, real bad. Right. Yes. I do.

Adam: No, she's going to be here any minute. I don't know what the hell I’m going to say to her, but this has got to stop. It's got to go -- it can't go on like this. Listen, I want you to find the paper trail, copy all the records, all the backup files, find out what shredding has been done recently.
Liza: Adam?
Adam: She's here. Get on it.
Liza: Well, what do you know? The house isn't burned down.
Adam: Not literally, no.
Liza: Why was I summoned?
Adam: Because you've been avoiding me.
Liza: Well, I traipsed across the south lawn right through the garden, ruined my favorite shoes. Now, isn't that the perfect wife?
Adam: Liza -- Liza, what has gotten into you? I've turned myself inside out to try to make you happy. I've given you everything you could possibly want.
Liza: Tell me you didn't say that.
Adam: I've tried to make you happy.
Liza: Do you think I wanted your dominance and superiority rubbed in my face?
Adam: You can't believe that's what I’ve done.
Liza: Or your complete disregard to our daughter's safety.
Adam: I love Colby.
Liza: Was this designed to impress me?
Adam: I will do anything to protect her.
Liza: Oh, by moving your drug addict son down the hall from our daughter?
Adam: My son is – JR is not a drug addict.
Liza: Oh, no, no, no. Spoiled kids, they experiment. It's a disease -- a disease that could kill our daughter!
Adam: Liza, I don't know who you are anymore.
Liza: I don't give a damn.
Adam: What's happened to you? What could be so terrible?
Liza: You. You are what happened to me -- the biggest mistake of my life.
Adam: Marrying me was the biggest mistake of your life?
Liza: Don't look at me like that.
Adam: Answer me.
Liza: Don't give that hangdog, "oh, poor me" expression. Don't try to manipulate me.
Adam: I am the biggest mistake in your life?
Liza: You are twisting my words.
Adam: I distinctly heard you say that.
Liza: You think you have a right to judge me, to question my behavior?
Adam: I'm trying to find out what's happening to us.
Liza: You bring me in here like some slave and then you attack me!
Adam: I did nothing of the kind.
Liza: Forget it. We're just totally talking a different language.
Adam: Liza --
Liza: No, this is true. We can't even make a decision and agree on how to raise our daughter or your son.
Adam: Liza, Liza, listen -- if you would just -- if you would just try to give J.R. a chance --
Liza: Oh, a chance. J.R. Has had so many chances, I mean, because of our lax judicial system and your influence.
Adam: If you could just talk to him for 10 minutes, that's all. Just talk -- contact. Contact him. You'll see how much progress he's made.
Liza: Oh, there's progress. He's gotten better at hiding his rolling papers and his bong.
Adam: Don't transfer your rage at me to our son -- to my son. It's not fair to the boy.
Liza: Oh, well, thank you for your amateur psychoanalysis. Really made my day.
Adam: Well, maybe you ought to get the real thing about three times a week.
Liza: Excuse me?
Adam: Liza, I -- you don't seem to be able to help yourself and you sure as hell aren't interested in listening to me, so why don't you see a shrink? Get help. Now.

Tad: I'll make sure your hands stay clean, I promise you. All I got to do is get my hands on a couple of leads concerning Dixie that's all.
Jake: Not from her files, Tad.
Tad: Look the other way.
Jake: I guarantee patient confidentiality.
Tad: Patient -- what about -- what -- oh, man. What about acting in a patient's best interest? What about that?
Jake: That's what I’m doing.
Tad: Are you sure? You know something? Just because you move a couple of trinkets in here does not make you Pop.
Jake: I know it's not that simple.
Tad: I'm not so sure. What, you think that acting like a hard ass was -- is the secret of his success?
Jake: No, I don't.
Tad: He never patronized anybody, Jake.
Jake: You think that's what I’m doing?
Tad: And he never pushed them around, either.
Jake: Not caving into you, Tad, isn't a sin.
Tad: You know, it occurs to me that in the past you've bent a couple of rules where Hayward was concerned. Isn't that right?
Jake: More than you know, and I’m not going to cross those lines anymore.
Tad: Why, because you're afraid if you get caught you're going to lose your new cushy job?
Jake: Because I have a responsibility to maintain the integrity of this hospital.
Tad: Don't talk to me about integrity! We're talking about my wife!
Jake: Tad, you're not married to her anymore! Why don't you let her go?
Tad: Dad leave this behind?
[Tad holds up a picture of Joe when he was younger]
Jake: Asked him if I could keep it.
Tad: You know something? I always liked coming here when I was younger. I never had the itch to be a doctor like you or Pop, but it always made me feel safe.
Jake: It is safe and it's orderly and it makes sense.
Tad: Kind of reassuring.
Jake: That's all I’m trying to do here, Tad. I cannot bend the rules for anyone, not even my own brother.
Tad: You know something? You may turn out to be ok at this.
Jake: Tad -- trust Dixie. She'll come around. She'll call you when she's ready.

[Knock]
Jake: I'll hold my fire. Who's there?
Mia: Is it safe to approach?
Jake: It's safe, it's safe. I mean, why would it not be safe?
Mia: Well, you know, during your first two days in office, who knows? Tad didn't look too happy.
Jake: Oh. Well, it just so happens you are the first person to walk through that door who doesn't want something from me.
Mia: Oh. Well, that's what you think.

Edmund: Look, I hate what happened with Vanessa just as much as you do.
Brooke: She could have turned violent. She could have held him hostage.
Edmund: Brooke, do you think that I would ever knowingly put your boy in danger?
Brooke: No.
Edmund: Ok. I would never take him anywhere that I thought there would be trouble.
Brooke: You can bet you wouldn't.
Edmund: How was I supposed to know that Vanessa would break out of her room, get past guards, come out here, and grab Jamie?
Brooke: It wasn't my finest hour. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, really. It's just that this thing with Vanessa, and then Tad gets embroiled, and then David plays up to Jamie? I mean, how weird was that?
Edmund: Very weird. Think he has an ulterior motive?
Brooke: , Doesn't he always?

Anna: Hi.
David: Jake would have me sterilizing instruments if he could.
Anna: Can I ask you something?
David: Can I stop you?
Anna: No. That bit with Jamie before -- what was that about?
David: Well, Vanessa used him for a prop in her psychodrama. I just felt it was my responsibility to make sure the kid was ok.
Anna: And the fact that Tad was right there was just a happy coincidence?
David: Who cares where Tad was?
Anna: Because he couldn't get anything out of you about Dixie.
David: That's right, because there's nothing to get.
Anna: And I thought maybe buddying up to his son kind of stuck it to him even more.
David: Ok. Well, I guess the honeymoon's over if that's the man you think you've married.
Anna: Give me some credit.
[Pager beeps]
David: I'll give it to you later. I have to take this.

Tad: So, when's the big day?
Brooke: Um -- well, we're planning the wedding in May.
Tad: This May?
Brooke: Yeah.
Edmund: Yeah.
Tad: Well, that doesn't give you a whole lot of time, does it?
Edmund: We could pull together the wedding in a week if we had to.
Brooke: Yeah, but, I mean, we don't.
Edmund: Yeah.
Tad: I was more thinking along the lines of the big picture -- you know, throwing together families, homes, lives, children.
Brooke: Tad, Sam and Maddie and Jamie are all very much into this. They are.
Tad: What about me? You didn't think it was important to tell me about it in advance?
Edmund: Tad, I didn't think we needed your permission to get married and I, frankly, still don't. Do you have a problem with that?
Tad: Yeah, I guess I do.

Jake: It's too soon to ask for a raise.
Mia: Well, that's not why I’m here. I came by to -- to thank you.
Jake: So, what am I being thanked for?
Mia: For my job, my training.
Jake: Well, considering that I cost you your last job and your home, I think it's the least I could do.
Mia: Look, I was -- think I was a little too hard on you, you know? I laid that major guilt trip, and it wasn't right.
Jake: I deserved it.
Mia: No, you didn't, Jake. You really didn't. And, you know, things are starting to turn around for me. Marian and Stuart are letting me stay with them.
Jake: That sounds good.
Mia: Yeah.
Jake: Yeah.
Mia: And even Liza’s warmed up a little bit. And you -- well, we'll just see how long you can stay on the right track with things. A truce is a very important first step, of course.
[Phone rings]
Jake: Excuse me. Yeah? Oh, no, no, no, no. No, I’ll be right there. Don't go in there yet. Be right down. Excuse me.
Mia: Yes. Oh, you mind if I use this before I go?
Jake: Sure, sure. Have at it.
Mia: Thanks.
Jake: Help yourself.
Mia: I'll see you around.
Jake: Ok. Bye.

[Phone rings]
Stuart: Hello?
Mia: Stuart, hi. It's Mia. Listen, I just wanted to thank you for, you know, the way you helped me break the news to Liza and everything.
Stuart: Oh. Well, I was mostly in the kitchen with Colby.
Mia: Yeah, but you were great, and I -- I really, really appreciate it.
Stuart: Well, Marian feels really good about it, too. Mia: Listen, I’m not going to be home right away, so I just wanted to --
[Mia moves some papers on Jake’s desk and sees something that shocks her]
Stuart: Mia? Mia, are you there?
Mia: Oh, my God.

Liza: You think I’m unstable?
Adam: No, I didn't say that.
Liza: Yes, you did. You think I present a danger to our daughter, to your son?
Adam: Don't be a drama queen.
Liza: You insult me and then you patronize me. I know what you said. I know what you meant.
Adam: Liza, you seem like you're -- I’m sorry -- you seem troubled. You seem -- you can't help yourself and you're not going to let me help you.
Liza: Why am I always the one in the hot seat? Why don't you take a look in the mirror? Why don't you take a hard, honest look in the mirror?
Adam: What am I supposed to see there, why you're doing this?
Liza: Maybe. Why don't you give it a shot? What have you got to lose?
Adam: Ok, I’ll do that. I'll get back to you.
Liza: Oh, I’ve had it with this.
Adam: End of conversation, just like that?
Liza: You know what? I've heard enough.
Adam: Liza, Liza --
Liza: Let go of me. Let go of me!
Adam: Liza --
Liza: Let go of me! Leave me alone!

Tad: Is being told too much to ask?
Brooke: Tad, I’m sorry. I -- it's just been very hectic, and I wanted to sit down with you and tell you.
Jamie: Dad, look, I beat your best score.
Tad: Yeah. I guess I’m just going to have to challenge you to a rematch. What do you think? Is it all right if he hangs out at my house for the rest of the day? Unless you're afraid that I’ll outdo your score.
Jamie: Yeah, right, you don't scare me. Can I, Mom?
Brooke: Sure, Honey. Go have fun.
Jamie: Can I sleep over?
Brooke: Sleep over? Yes, if you promise me that you will do some sleeping.
Jamie: I promise.
Tad: We promise. Maybe we should make this thing a regular event. What do you think?
Jamie: Cool!
Tad: Ok, come on. Let's go.

David: Hey. You're still here.
Anna: Apparently. My swearing-in ceremony --
David: I know, I know --
Anna: This afternoon, David --
David: Yes, I will be there for your bright and shining moment.
Anna: Yeah. You all right?
David: Yeah, I’ll be doing better when my mother's locked away somewhere and I’m not breathing the same air.
Anna: And Tad questioning you about Dixie -- you all right about that?
David: Tad is insignificant. I can handle Tad.
Anna: Hmm.
David: Do you think anybody would be tipped off if I --
Anna: It'll keep. Bye.

[David makes a phone call and Anna overhears]

David: Bye.
David: Hi. It's me. Look, I know it's late there, but can we talk?

Mia: Stuart, yeah. Yes, I’m here, but I got to go.

Mia: How the hell could this happen?

J.R.: I wasn't eavesdropping. You both were pretty loud.
Adam: Married couples sometimes have arguments just to relieve some pressure. Don't read too much into it.
J.R.: Oh, I don't have to. I heard what you both said.
Adam: Liza has a lot on her mind right now.
J.R.: I was right, wasn't I? It's all my fault, isn't it?

Elizabeth: Mrs. Chandler. Hello, again.
Liza: Hello.
Elizabeth: Are you all right?
Liza: I need to see a doctor now. Right now.

David: Yeah. That's what I thought, too, but he is asking a lot of questions. Of course I covered for you. I'll always cover for you, Dixie. You know that.

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Mia: This can't wait. Patients could die.

Anna: I want you in my back pocket.
Jack: Well, I’m not that easy.

Ryan: You got all dressed up to ask me out on a date?

Liza: I'll have your license taken away so quick you won't know what hit you!

J.R.: I'm moving in with you.
