ALL MY CHILDREN

NOVEMBER 5, 1999

[Knock on door]

Adam: Come in.
Barry: What's happened?
Adam: Liza knows everything.
Barry: About which scheme?
Adam: Don't be obtuse. That Colby's mine. That I bought the clinic, that I switched the samples. Everything.
Barry: You've been so careful. What happened?
Adam: David Hayward decided to talk.
Barry: Hayward? That doctor you said you could control?
Adam: Blast it, man. Forget about Hayward. I need to take action fast. Barry: I gather Liza isn't handling this very well. Has she told anyone? Jake?
Adam: How the hell should I know? She's not speaking to me. But before she banished me from our bedroom, she said she needed some time to think.
Barry: That's a good sign. Adam: I don't need signs. I need options, Barry. I'm not going to lose my family.

[Knock on door]

Winifred: Excuse me, Mrs. Chandler. Mr. Chandler's working at home today. Would you like me to have Lucretia make some poached salmon?
Liza: I won't be having lunch with my husband.
Winifred: Oh. Yes, ma'am.

[Doorbell rings]

Liza: And --
Winifred: Oh, I'll get that.
Liza: No. I really don't want to see anybody today. Especially my husband.
Adam's voice: I have a confession to make.
Liza's voice: A confession?
Adam: I have a fantasy that Colby is our child. I mean, yours and mine alone. Do you ever have that fantasy?

Liza: It was right there. Why didn't I see it?
Winifred, I told you I didn't want to see anybody.
Dixie: Oh. Not even your beautiful baby girl? Hey.
Liza: Come here.
Dixie: Look, here's mom.
Liza: Hello.

Tad: This is patently ridiculous. We're about to go to tape with Erica Kane. You can't cancel me.
Leslie: I didn't. But you are, effective immediately. "The Cutting Edge" is off the air.
Erica: There is obviously some mistake. We're about to tape a show here. Tad, why don't you call security.
Tad: Yeah, absolutely. You know, I might only be the talent, but I can still add. Datcom only owns 40% of WRCW, which means Duffield -- whatever the hell his name is -- cannot call the shots even if he wants to. This station is still owned by Liza Colby.
Leslie: Quick math lesson. Liza owned 80%. Datcom bought 40%, and the other 20% was owned by another interest. Those outstanding shares were recently acquired by Datcom. Simple addition tells the story. You lose.
Tad: Who owned the other 20%?
Leslie: All I can tell you is that the shares were bought by Datcom, and Mr. Duffield is now in control.
Tad: I can't believe that some nerd is sitting in Silicon Valley, is getting his chuckles by canceling my show.
Leslie: I'm not privy to Mr. Duffield's plans, but I was made aware that "The Cutting Edge" does not fit into his vision of WRCW. There is some good news.
Tad: Which is?
Leslie: Well, he plans to spin off "The Cutting Edge" style segment into a full-length program.
Tad: Hayley's getting her own show?
Leslie: Something about star quality.

Hayley: Do me a favor, will you? Sit out next Halloween. It's definitely not your holiday.
Ryan: Hayley.
Hayley: Hi, there. How are you feeling?
Ryan: Gillian.

Alex: Hey. David is the last person you want to be Gillian's doctor.
Edmund: I want what's best for Gillian.
David: Which would mean surgery.
Alex: No. She's lost too much blood for that. It's too soon for her to have another surgery.
David: Once we get her on the pump, we'll be able to give her more blood and up her volume while we're at it. I'll fix her valve as soon as we can get her on bypass.
Alex: In my opinion, I think you are rushing into a procedure that is usually a last resort. Why can't you give the meds a chance to work?
David: All the dioxin in the world is not going to correct this situation, Alex. The longer you delay surgery, the weaker her heart gets.
Alex: Oh, it's just so typical, isn't it? You're barging into cut before someone is even stable enough.
David: Edmund, I'm going to bottom-line this one more time for you, ok? Your cousin needs surgery. I'm the best, and you know it.
Alex: We're talking about Gillian here, not your ego.
Edmund: All right, that's enough, both of you! I'm going to decide what is best for Gillian, and you will both accept it.

Tad: It's impossible. The Liza Colby I know wouldn't let this happen.
Erica: You're exactly right, Tad. Liza Colby may not be anybody's favorite person, but she's a very smart businesswoman. As a CEO. Myself, I know very well that Liza would never give up control of her own company.
Leslie: She has.
Tad: Ok. Let's say for a moment that what you're telling us is true. Then why isn't she here? The Liza I know would not farm out her dirty work to some peon. As a matter of fact, how come I haven't been able to get in touch with her all morning? I even sent Scott out to look for her. Now he's vanished. Matter of fact, don't do anything. Just stay right here. I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

Erica: Well, you certainly seem to enjoy your work.
Leslie: Yes, I do.
Erica: All this hustling on behalf of large corporate interests keeps you busy.
Leslie: It does. But I'm ambitious like you.
Erica: You're nothing like me. And I guess you're too busy to really do the legal work for my charitable foundation.
Leslie: I'm an excellent lawyer. You've never had any complaints about my work -- until recently.
Erica: Well, now that I see you in action, I don't like your style.
Leslie: Or maybe you don't like my history with David Hayward.
Erica: What history would that be? You don't have a history with David Hayward.
Leslie: Call me when he dumps you. We'll dish over drinks. You know, David may not have a long attention span, but he sure can be a good time.
Eric oh, he's got a great attention span. You're nothing like me, as I said. You couldn't keep his interest.
Tad, hi. There you are. Did you reach Liza?
Tad: No. But I did find Scott. Apparently he just called in from the hospital. Gillian and Ryan have been in some kind of car accident.
Erica: Are you kidding? I don't believe it. Well, what about Edmund? Does Edmund know?

David: Let me do this, Edmund.
Edmund: What exactly is "this"?
David: All right. All I need to do is make an incision between her ribs to get to her heart. We'll put her on a machine that will do the work of both her heart and her lungs. Then I'll work into her chamber and I'll fix the valve. Her heart will function properly again. That's all.
Edmund: Medications can't do this?
Alex: Yes, if her --
David: No. No! It can't. We should be able to extubate her fairly quickly. She won't even know what happened, Edmund. She'll be back in the ICU before you even know it.
Edmund: What about the risk factor?
David: Slim if I do it. Greater if you wait.
Alex: Oh, you make your own statistics, don't you?
David: You're the only one who can authorize me to do this, Edmund. Go with your gut.
Edmund: Let's do it.
David: Great. We've wasted enough time already. Let's go fill out the forms so I can get started.
Edmund: Alex, you coming?
Alex: No. Going to go over Gillian's history again.

Ryan: Gillian -- is she ok?
Hayley: She's here. She's in the hospital.
Ryan: How bad is she?
Hayley: You're the one who's bad. I thought you stood me up or something.
Ryan: What happened?
Hayley: You don't remember anything?
Ryan: It's hazy.
Hayley: I was waiting for you at BJ'S, and you didn't call and you didn't show up, and I was worried. And then Axel called me and told me that you were here. And I was scared to death.
Ryan: How long have I been out?
Hayley: Since Halloween night. Do you remember anything?
Ryan: Mateo.
Ryan: It's going to blow. Mateo, help. Help me. It's going to blow. I can't get out. God. I'm stuck.

Adrian: Hey, what do you say we go down to the batting cage and knock a few out of the park, huh?
Mateo: I'm a little backed up today, man. I got to stay here and work.
Adrian: Man, you look like hell. What's going on?
Mateo: There was a car accident -- Ryan, Gillian.
Adrian: Oh, yeah. I heard about that. It was on the radio this morning.
Mateo: Yeah, I was there. I was outside the accident.
Adrian: What, were you with them?
Mateo: No, I found them.
Adrian: You played hero?
Mateo: Not even close.

[Telephone rings]

Dixie: Do you want me to get that?
Liza: Oh, I'm just going to lay low today. I'll check my messages later.
Marian: Liza, darling -- oh, I'm sorry. Hi, Dixie.
Dixie: Hi.
Marian: Winifred said you've been holed up in your room. Are you ill, darling?
Liza: I just want to be alone today.
Marian: Well, I just thought --
Liza: I just want to be alone today.
Dixie: I'd better go. You know, I'm supposed to meet Tad at the station for lunch later. I guess I'll see you there, huh?
Liza: Maybe.
Dixie: Ok. Well, bye, Colby. You can loan her to any time. Look at that face. Got such a serious face. It looks like Jake. Ok. See you soon.
Marian: Bye, Dixie.

Liza: Come here, pumpkin. I need hugs.
Marian: Liza, I know just the way to get you out of your mood. It's such a glorious day outside. I planned a picnic, and I put together an enormous amount of food for Stuart and myself. I thought you could pack up Colby and grab --
Liza: Not today, mother. Please.
Marian: Liza, what's wrong?
Liza: I'm just a little nauseous. I just want some peace and quiet.
Marian: Oh, my God. Oh, God. It's morning sickness, isn't it? That's what it is. Oh, Liza. You're going to have a baby with Adam. I am so ecstatic. I know how much you've always wanted to have Adam's child.
Liza: I have Adam's child.
Marian: No, I mean his biological child.
Liza: Colby. With Adam.
Marian: Colby's Jake's child.
Liza: No. Adam got me pregnant, mother. He switched the sperm at the lab. Colby is his daughter.

Erica: Look, Peggy says that Edmund is at the hospital, so I'm going to go there and be with him. I don't want him to be alone.
Tad: I understand.
Erica: And please know that after this ridiculous mess is straightened out, I'm going to reschedule my interview.
Tad: Sure.
Erica: Ok.
Leslie: Don't hold your breath.
Erica: Oh, you're fired. You were just a charity case anyway.
Tad: You know, she's right. Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing that philanthropic work isn't exactly your forte.
Leslie: I can be giving. Here's some advice. Clear out now. Make it easy on yourself.
Tad: Forget it, Leslie. I'm not going anywhere till I talk to Liza first.
Leslie: I'm just the messenger. But if you don't get going, the locks are being changed. It's only going to get uglier.
Tad: I doubt it. Tell me something. You ever rip the heads off your dolls when you were a kid?
Leslie: I never wasted time on dolls. I have something for you.
Tad: Yeah, I got something for you, too.
Leslie: Official notification of the cancellation of your contract and an order to vacate the premises.

[Leslie drops a file]

Leslie: Don't touch those.
Tad: Why? What you got there? State secrets?
Leslie: Never mind. You better get packing.

Dixie: Hey, baby. Ooh, bad day?
Tad: Yeah, I guess you could say that. "The Cutting Edge" was just canceled.

Marian: That's why Adam was so touchy about Jake always being acknowledged as Colby's father.
Liza: Jake. Mother, he had zero thought -- no thought at all to how this was going to affect everybody's lives, including his own daughter.
Marian: That's never stopped him before, Liza.
Liza: Mother, I went into this marriage. I went into it with open eyes.

[Colby fusses]

Liza: I did. Oh, baby. I knew what Adam was all about, and I believed that he was a changed man. But he used me. He used me like he uses everybody else. He did not treat me like a wife. He treated me like a master plan. I mean, how could I be so blind?
Marian: Liza, stop it right there. I'll not have you blame yourself for this. Adam fooled all of us, Liza.
Liza: He's delusional. I mean, he thought that he could buy a fertility clinic, and that somehow that that would equal an expression of love. He did. He violated my privacy. He violated my respect. He violated everything that was precious to me. I told him it was like rape.
Marian: Oh, Liza.
Liza: Mother, it was all a lie -- the love and the marriage.
Marian: Well, you still have Colby.
Liza: What kind of legacy does she have? It's supposed to be built on love, mother. It's built on a lie. How can I make that up to her?
Marian: Oh, darling, by loving her just like you do right now. And by keeping that horrible monster away from her forever.
Liza: Now he is her biological father. Now he has rights.
Marian: Not yet he doesn't. You're going to have to do everything you can to never let him harm your child again, Liza.

Adam: I love my daughter, Barry. I love my wife.
Barry: Well, I'm no marriage counselor. Liza's up to you. But I may have some options regarding Colby.
Adam: Such as?
Barry: Preemptive strike. You establish your paternity and parental rights ASAP. It'll give you equal footing where Colby's concerned.
Adam: And it will alienate my wife for good. No, that's not an option.
Barry: Do you want your wife or your daughter?
Adam: I want them both, damn it. Come on. What else do you have?
Barry: Nothing you're going to like. You have to remember, you committed a six-pack of crimes here. You're at an extreme disadvantage. Liza could press charges on all counts. Best-case scenario -- you get out of prison in time to see Colby get her driver's license.
Adam: What about that judge? The one who handled Max's custody case?
Barry: Owen Charles.
Adam: Yes.
Barry: Yeah.
Adam: Yes. He's a team player. Maybe he'll come up with something.
Barry: Not an option. He's being investigated.
Adam: Oh, damn it! I want my family intact.
Barry: Then I suggest you woo your wife back. You've done it before.
Adam: She wasn't accusing me of rape before.
Barry: There is no legal cure for this mess. My advice -- win Liza over.
Adam: I did this because I love her. Why can't she see that?

Mateo: You should have seen the car, man. It was -- they had some power lines, and the power lines were sparking and there was gasoline everywhere. So, I mean, I knew the car was going to blow up, and there was Gillian, unconscious, right in the middle of it.
Adrian: So what did you do?
Mateo: I moved her. I know you're not supposed to move people when they're injured, but -- so I moved her, and it never got -- I thought everything was going to be ok. And then I looked back into the car and I saw Ryan. He was like, just trapped, and he was completely out of it. You know what I did?
Adrian: What?
Mateo: Nothing. Adrian, my mind was telling me to leave him there, let him die. You know, nobody knew that I was there. My problems could have been solved.
Adrian: Yeah. Well, the way I heard it, the car exploded. Somebody pulled Ryan out of there. It was you, wasn't it?

Hayley: Ryan, Mateo wasn't involved in the accident.
Ryan: Mateo was there.

Adrian: You pulled him from that car.
Mateo: I stood there and I stared at him. And he stared back at me, begging me to help him. I didn't want to. I didn't want to help him. I mean, what's up with that? What kind of person does that make me?
Adrian: What do you mean, "What's up with that"? It was a dangerous situation. It makes you human.
Mateo: Come on, man. I didn't -- I didn't hesitate because I was afraid of the danger. I hesitated because I wanted him dead. I didn't want him to live.
Adrian: Mateo, hold it. Wait a minute. That's not in you. You know that, and I know that. So the thought popped in your head. But you tossed it. You did the right thing, and that's what counts.
Mateo: You know, I had to walk away to grab a branch to move the wires, and --
Adrian: Yeah?
Mateo: I thought about just leaving.
Adrian: But you didn't.
Mateo: I was this close, man.
Adrian: Yeah, but you didn't because even when you were walking away you had already decided that you were going to save his life. Face it, Mateo. You're a good guy. You could have blown up saving Ryan's life.
Mateo: It wasn't like that, man. It was --
Adrian: Oh, no? Why don't you take a step back and get some more perspective on this. You could have blown up. You could have died saving a man's life that you claim to hate. You got the goods, babe. Ryan knows it. Now so does Hayley.
Mateo: No, she doesn't. Nobody does.

Ryan: I saw Mateo.
Hayley: At the accident? He was there?
Ryan: Yes.
Hayley: What did he do?
Ryan: Mateo --

Leslie: Good day, gentlemen.
Barry: What do you want?
Leslie: How about champagne?
Barry: Adam's not in a celebrating mood.
Leslie: Well, you will be. "The Cutting Edge" is off the air, Tad Martin is on the street. He didn't know what hit him.
Adam: What the hell have you done?
Leslie: Well, exactly what you instructed.
Adam: But I didn't tell you to go off halfcocked!
Leslie: Hardly.
Adam: Why didn't you call me first?
Leslie: That was never part our arrangement. I mean, your orders were clear. You wanted controlling interest in WRCW, you wanted Tad's show canceled and Tad fired. I thought you'd be thanking me.
Adam: Aah! Your timing is horrible.
Barry: This -- we're putting out another fire.
Adam: That's enough out of you.
Leslie: Do you want me to rescind the order?
Adam: No. No, no, no. Don't do that. If I do that, it'll be obvious that I'm involved. There's no way that Tad Martin can know I'm behind this. Is that completely clear?

Dixie: Well, honey, we've got to get "The Cutting Edge" back on the air.
Tad: Well, sweetheart, I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't think we have a whole hell of a lot to say about it.
Dixie: Well, what about Liza? I mean, have you talked to her?
Tad: That's what's so weird. It's like she's pulled this vanishing act all of a sudden. She doesn't come in all day, we've been looking all over town for her, and her message machine picks up at the house.
Dixie: You know, I just saw her. I dropped off Colby at her house. And she was all holed up in her bedroom. She was acting pretty strange.
Tad: Are you telling me Liza has been home this entire time, after all the messages I left her? There's something going on here. This is wrong. When this guy Duffield bought into the station, she assured me that he was going to be a silent partner. So now all of a sudden he's calling all the shots?
Dixie: Ok. Why would a computer guy from across the country have it in for you?
Tad: I don't know. It can't be financial. I mean, the show is a hit. It's a bull's-eye with the target demographics.
Dixie: What about professional? I mean, did you do something? Did you have an expose on this guy?
Tad: No, no. I've never heard the guy's name before or of his company. Now I'm sorry I have. One thing's for sure -- whatever I did to him, I made him angry.
Dixie: Maybe it's somebody he's connected to.
Tad: What?
Dixie: Isn't there somebody in town that you've really been getting peeved lately?
Tad and Dixie: Adam!

Hayley: Ryan, do you remember any more about the accident?
Ryan: We were driving fast. Too fast.

Ryan's voice: Gillian, look out!
Gillian's voice: No!

[Crash]

Ryan: I was trapped in the car.
Hayley: You were -- Gillian was driving too fast, and then you crashed and you were trapped in the car?
Ryan: Mateo. Help, help --
Hayley: He helped you?
Ryan: Help me. It's going to blow. I can't get out. God. I'm stuck.
Ryan: Mateo. Come back. Mateo? Mateo? Come back. Come back.
Hayley: Mateo left you?

Alex: Oh.
Edmund: Still here.
Alex: Yeah. Well, I'm just leaving, actually. Did you get the forms signed?
Edmund: Yeah.
Alex: David talks a good game. His methods aren't without merit, though. If Gillian were conscious, that would be the last person she would choose to be her doctor.
Edmund: Alex, I don't like him either. But we're talking about her life, so I'm willing to put my personal feelings aside if it'll save hers.
Alex: You're trusting a man who has already degraded her so badly. I think it's wrong for David to operate on Gillian. It's not fair to her.
Edmund: Ok. I don't want to discuss it anymore.
Alex: Ok.
Edmund: I know how you feel. But I think David is Gillian's best chance.

Tad: Doesn't make sense. I mean, even if it does have Adam's fingerprints all over it, I know Liza. She wouldn't go along with it.
Dixie: Well, you know, she was acting kind of strange this morning, ok? Maybe living with Adam has rubbed off on her a little bit?
Tad: Oh, come on, what's your point? Deceit is contagious? That's ridiculous. I mean, you were immune.
Dixie: Ok, all right. Maybe, you know, she was totally against it but had no choice. I mean, you know how Adam is. And what has he been acting like lately? He thinks you're stealing his son.
Tad: So he's going to steal my show to get even.
Dixie: I mean, he's never been the turn-the-other-cheek type.
Tad: Wait a minute. The hospital. The Halloween party. He used the exact words that were in that fax from Duffield to Liza -- something about Hayley putting the edge back in "The Cutting Edge." And Leslie Coulson just told me they're thinking of spinning that segment off into its own show.
Dixie: Well, that's daddy protecting his little girl.
Tad: Ok. Pretty soon daddy's going to be busy protecting himself.
Dixie: What? What are you thinking? You've got that twinkle in your eye. What's on your mind?
Tad: Proof. I get any proof, I've got Adam.

Liza: Dixie says Colby looks like Jake. I wish she did.
Marian: Yeah, well, she still has his name, Liza. And that's the way we're going to keep it -- forever, if possible, because as far as I'm concerned, Jake is Colby's father and he always will be. We're just going to have to move things along a little.
Liza: Mother, you have a plan?
Marian: Yes, I have a plan, darling. And I want you to promise me one thing -- you're not going to talk to anybody about this.
Liza: What about Jake?
Marian: Especially Jake.
Liza: Mother, I can't lie to him. Not after everything that's happened.
Marian: You're not lying, darling. We're just going to formulate a plan that's going to benefit everyone and hit Adam where it'll hurt him the most.
Liza: But mother, just to go forward -- I mean, the next step --
Marian: Darling, I want you to make Adam think that he's getting you back, that he's really succeeding.
Liza: Mother, I want a divorce. I want a warrant.
Marian: Honey, hear me out. Adam wants you so badly, darling, he'd do anything to get you back. Make him think he's winning. Just stroke his ego.
Liza: And in the meantime, what?
Marian: Well, while he's planning the second honeymoon, you're going to be finalizing your divorce papers. And -- wham -- before Adam least expects it, you and Colby are going to be out of his life forever.
Liza: Mother, he has rights to Colby, divorce or not.
Marian: No, darling, because now you're going to pull out the big guns. You see, Adam has committed at least 10 felonies, darling, juicy enough to keep him in prison for many years to come.
Liza: Prison. Mother -- in prison with numbers on his chest? Please.
Marian: I'm serious, darling. Threaten him with prison. Because behind those custom-made suits and silk ties beats the heart of a coward. He's going to be so busy trying to cover his behind, he won't have time to think about you and Colby.
Liza: You know, Mom, I think you could out-Adam Adam.
Marian: Well, sometimes I have my moments.
Liza: I love you, mom.
Marian: I love you, too. Nobody messes with my girls. Nobody.
Liza: You hear that? Your Mimi is a force to be reckoned with. Yeah.
Marian: Well, whatever your paternity is, you are still a Colby woman. And nobody messes around with the Colby women and gets away with it. Damn right.

Mateo: What are you doing here?
Hayley: I know you were there.

Erica: Edmund, Tad told me about Gillian. How is she?
Edmund: There's a problem with her heart. And Hayward's going to operate. She's being prepped.
Erica: That's great. Is there anything I can do?
Edmund: Yeah. You can pray. If you'll excuse me, ok?
Erica: Of course.
Alex: Hi, Erica.
Erica: Alex, what did you mean by saying you didn't think it was fair for David to operate on Gillian? I mean, if anyone can save her, it's David.
Alex: Oh, I'm sorry. That was a private conversation.
Erica: You hate David so much that you would -- you would not allow Gillian to have the best doctor in the country just because of some petty little grudge?
Alex: David doesn't give a damn about her. And considering their history, he shouldn't be her doctor.
Erica: I don't know how you can say that.
Alex: If it were my decision, I wouldn't allow him anywhere near her, not after the way he's treated her.
Erica: What are you talking about? What do you possibly imagine that David did that was so terrible?
Alex: I don't want to get into this.
Erica: Oh, don't be coy. What did David do to hurt Gillian?
Alex: He forced her to have sex with him.
Erica: Are you accusing David of rape?

Dixie: Honey, Adam is really, really good at covering himself, especially when he's done something illegal. And we don't know how far Liza's involved. Getting proof might be a little difficult.
Tad: Not if we can get to Leslie Coulson. When she was here, she left me that file, something about an eviction notice. She dropped another one. I bent down to pick it up, she gets all squirrely. I'll bet you anything I get my hands on that file, I'll get some answers.
Dixie: How are you planning on doing that, oh great Martini?
Tad: Reinforcements.

Tad: Adrian, it's your brother. Listen, I got a job, requires your special skills. You interested? No, not tango lessons. Something a little more interesting. What do you say? Good. I'll see you soon.

[Marian listens to Barry and Adam]

Barry: Too bad Ms. Coulson had to take off. She's been a real asset.
Adam: Could we concentrate on the present crisis, please? Liza is probably on the phone right now calling a lawyer.
Barry: Or a hit man huh?
Adam: You find this amusing, Barry? Perhaps you could find me a solution.
Barry: You know, the timing of the WRCW scheme may be a help with Liza.
Adam: This had better be good. Barry: She'll be so busy dealing with the fallout at the station, she won't be able to focus solely on the Colby issue. That gives you a jump on the situation.
Adam: Are you positive that Tad Martin can't trace the sale of those shares?
Barry: They're buried so deep in that portfolio I sold for Stuart, no way they'll be traced. Man, I'd love to see Marian's face if she knew she'd helped you take over WRCW and oust Tad.
Adam: The timing is a disaster. The coincidence.
Barry: It might alert Liza, yeah. Unlike that dim bulb of a mother of hers, Liza's smart. Wouldn't long for her to see that you're the culprit.
Adam: All right. All right, you win. Start establishing my paternity -- quietly. I have to be ready for whatever Liza throws at me.
Barry: Getting you legally declared Colby's biological father is mostly a matter of a DNA. Test and paperwork. But if Liza presses charges, jail time is inevitable. And even if you're legally acknowledged as Colby's father, there's no guarantee what sort of custody agreement we'll get, if any.
Adam: Jail time? And if I get custody?
Barry: Yes.
Adam: No. I will not be separated from my daughter, Barry.
Barry: You don't have a lot of choices, Adam. Think about it. I'll call you tomorrow.

Adam: Yeah, it's Adam Chandler. Have my jet prepped immediately. Me and my daughter. I'll give you the flight plan when I get there. No, I don't know when we'll be back.

[Adam turns around to find Marian standing over him]
