ALL MY CHILDREN

NOVEMBER 16, 2001

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Roger: Proteus likes things to go as planned.
Mateo: You give him the money and you tell him I want a meeting face to face.

Dr. Clader: We ran the baby's DNA and compared it with Mr. Lavery's file sample. It's 99.9% certain that Mr. Lavery was the baby's father.

Leo: I know I've been a real jerk, but if you'll just hear me out, I have to tell you why I bagged the wedding today.

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Mateo: I asked for my meeting with Proteus face to face. Am I going to get it or not?
Man: [Distorted voice] You will have the meeting you asked for.
Mateo: When? Where do I go?
Man: [Distorted voice] That will all be arranged.
Mateo: How am I going to know when it is?
Man: [Distorted voice] We'll find you when the time is right.

Mateo: Ok, so you called this little summit. What's so important that I race over here?
Edmund: I told her to call you. All right? It's over, Mateo. You've double-crossed me for the last time.

Liza: I can't see them.
Marian: No, all right, ok, Darling.
Liza: But Adam and Ryan can't be with each other.
Marian: Just calm down, Liza. Stay where you are. I'll go take care of Ryan, all right?
Dr. Clader: You've got to stay calm, Liza.
Liza: I have to get out of here.
Dr. Clader: Ok, ok, I can discharge you, but I want to make sure that you go straight home and rest. The nurse will give you instructions, and I want to see you back here in a week for a checkup, all right?
Liza: I will. I know.
Dr. Clader: All right. You can get dressed. I'll start on the paperwork.
Liza: Dr. Clader, before I leave, I think I need to find some way of saying good-bye.

Ryan: Did you hear me, Adam? Are you listening to me? That was my child!
Marian: Ryan, stop! Ryan!
Adam: I didn't do anything!
Ryan: You just shut your --
Hayley: Ryan, stop it! Stop! Ryan! Killing him is not going to kill the pain, and you know this. Look at me. You know this.
Ryan: That was my baby, Hayley. That was my child.
Hayley: Ok, Ryan, I know. I know. Ryan, let me take you out of here. Come on. Let me take you out of here, Ryan. Come with me, Ryan. Come on. Come on.

Leo: Greenlee, I want to tell you why I called off the wedding.

Jake: Greenlee?
Greenlee: Jake.
Jake: Hey.
Greenlee: Jake, did you find, Daddy? Is he --
Jake: No, no, no, we haven't found him yet. But I do have a good lead, and I'm going to start on it right away. I need to have a word with you first, alone.

Leo: Ah -- I'm sort of in the middle of something, Jake.
Jake: Yeah, and I think I know what it was. You were about to lay another trip on her.
Leo: You know, this is so none of your business.
Jake: You were going to tell her what a huge mistake that you made, but now you've seen the light and that you're sorry for everything and you want her back. That about sum it up, Leo?
Leo: Ok, I'm going to go back to Greenlee now.
Jake: You know what? You may want to say all this good stuff, but right now it's the wrong thing to do.
Leo: Where the hell do you get off telling me what Greenlee needs? She can speak for herself.
Jake: Her father is missing. The last time she saw him, she thought he was having a heart attack.
Leo: Yeah, I know that.
Jake: He could be dying somewhere, Leo. He could be dead right now, and Greenlee's having to deal with that possibility. Can you not grasp that?
Leo: Hey, I understand what Greenlee's going through a hell of a lot better than you do.
Jake: Well, then you can understand that Greenlee's not up for another round of "who does Leo want this week?"
Leo: I don't owe you an explanation.
Jake: And I don't want one.
Leo: It's over with me and Laura.
Jake: Oh, really?
Leo: Yeah.
Jake: Yeah. Wow, what was it, about an hour ago now that you were going to do the "till death do us part" thing with Laura, and now you're ready to make this commitment to Greenlee? Don't you need to go home, put your feet up, maybe change your shirt or something?
Leo: Look, I got blindsided by a dying woman who went crazy on me.
Jake: Right -- Leo, like I said, I don't want details.
Leo: But Greenlee loves me, and I still love her. And she's going to want to hear that.
Jake: Not now.
Leo: Says you? Who the hell are you?
Jake: I'm the guy who patched Greenlee together every time you gave her mixed signals that tore her apart.
Leo: Uh-huh. No other agendas, Jake?
Jake: And I'm not going to get into this with you now.
Leo: Oh, you're not going to get -- well, tough. Greenlee loves me. She's gone out of her way to show me that. She's been waiting for me to realize that I love her, and believe it or not, Jake, that's going to do her a lot of good to hear that.
Jake: Leo, you need to wake up because what you're doing isn't about her. All right, you're trying to cover yourself with Laura by using Greenlee --
Leo: No, I'm not using Greenlee.
Jake: Well, then why don't you stop bombarding her with stuff that she is in no shape to handle.
Leo: Oh, and I --
Jake: Why don't you give her what she needs.
Leo: Yeah, and I suppose you're going to tell me what that is, right?
Jake: I don't need to tell you what it is. You should be able to figure it out for yourself. It is not about you, Leo. Look at her. Understand what she's going through. At least give her a chance to find out whether her father is dead or alive.

Greenlee: What are you talking to Leo about? Is it something about my father?
Jake: No. No, actually, I'm just getting ready to go chase down that lead.
Greenlee: What is it? The lead? You never said.
Jake: Well, I really didn't want to get your hopes up until I was sure I was on the right track.
Greenlee: You don't really have anything.
Jake: Greenlee, have I ever lied to you? I'm telling you right now I'm going to find your father.
Greenlee: Ok.
Jake: All right, I want you to go back to the loft and try to get some rest.
Greenlee: I can't.
Jake: I will call as soon as I hear anything.
Greenlee: Well, I'm not going to go alone. Leo, you come with me?
Leo: Yeah. I'll take good care of her. Let's go.

David: Jake, I got your page. Any news on Roger Smythe?
Jake: Well, it's not exactly news. He's still missing.
David: Ok, then what is it? Because that certainly could have waited till morning.
Jake: Well, actually, I spoke to Roger Smythe's physician from San Diego, and he told me that Roger had a pre-existing heart condition before he came to Pine Valley.
David: Well, that's great investigative skills there, Jake, but what does it have to do with me?
Jake: It has a lot to do with you. He said that he referred Roger to you. Yeah, you told Greenlee that you never treated him. Why would you do that, David?

Liza: What happened?
Marian: Nothing. Nothing. Hayley got Ryan out of the way before he and Adam tried to kill each other.
Liza: That's good.

Reverend: Excuse me. I'm Rev. Peterson, the hospital chaplain. Dr. Clader said you wanted to see me, Mrs. Chandler.
Liza: I wanted to see a reverend. I'm Liza, and this is my mother, Marian.
Marian: Hello.
Rev. Peterson: Hello. How can I help you?
Liza: Well, I was pregnant, and I just -- well, I lost the baby, and I thought maybe it would help to say good-bye and maybe you could say a prayer.
Rev. Peterson: Of course, Liza. Perhaps if the three of us held hands. Heavenly father, we don't understand why grief and loss comes into our lives. But we trust in you and your love to help us through. Help Liza now to make peace with her loss. And give her strength in this painful time of saying good-bye. Be gentle and merciful with her. We pray. Amen.
Marian: Amen.
Rev. Peterson: Sometimes I find it helps to say a few words to the baby. Just whatever's in your thoughts that you would have wanted your child to hear. If you would like to do that.
Liza: Well, I couldn't give you life the way that I wanted to. But I -- I loved you. And I wanted you. And I'll always remember you because you were a part of me. The rest is in God's hands. And I pray that God can forgive me and -- and that he will take care of all of us. Amen.
Rev. Peterson: Amen.
Marian: Amen.
Adam: Amen.

Mateo: I don't know what you're talking about.
Edmund: You. Using my money to gamble again. What was it this time, Mateo?
Mateo: Why don't you lay off?
Edmund: The track, poker --
Mateo: Lay off. It wasn't poker. Lay off. You want your money? You can take your money, all right?
Edmund: Keep your money!
Mateo: Here, 100, \$200 --
Edmund: It's you! You got a sickness and you need to get some help.
Mateo: Well, you can take your help and you can shove it.

Maitre d': Gentlemen, is there a problem here?
Edmund: Just a little family disagreement.
Mateo: Hey, you know how it is. Tell you what -- for your trouble. I need a little privacy, ok?
Maitre d': Yes, sir. Are you aware that --
Mateo: Yeah, I know how much it is, and you can take your staff, you can take a little break. Thank you.
Maitre d': Yes. Whatever you say, sir.

Edmund: Simone says you're shutting us down.
Mateo: I don't know what gave her that idea.
Edmund: Ever since you got back from the Caymans. She also says you're flashing a lot of money around. If that's any indication, it's an understatement.
Simone: You've got something going down with Proteus and you're leaving me out of it.
Mateo: I'm handling Proteus.
Edmund: You're handling Proteus? Mateo, you do that by yourself, it's suicide.
Mateo: Well, I know what I'm doing.
Simone: No, you don't.
Mateo: You know what's getting a little old?
Simone: What?
Mateo: You. You breathing down my neck.
Simone: We agreed to work together.
Mateo: Yeah? Well, I'm disagreeing. All right, I can't have you nagging me all the time. You're fired.
Simone: You can't do that.
Mateo: I can do whatever I want. I can do whatever I want. I own the club. So get your stuff and you leave tonight, that's it.
Simone: Edmund?
Edmund: Mateo, take --
Mateo: No, you -- and you, too -- you, too.
Edmund: We need . Mateo: You need her. You need her for your stupid little story. All right, I don't need her. I'm telling you to kill the story. simony Edmund: Kill my story on Proteus?
Mateo: Yes.
Edmund: Forget it.
Mateo: If you don't, you're going to wind up dead.
Edmund: Ok, ok, all right. All right, let's everybody just bring it down a notch here. Mateo, talk to me. What's going on? How did suddenly Simone and I become the enemy here?
Mateo: I'm not against you. I'm trying to save your neck.
Edmund: By shutting us down?
Mateo: You know how Proteus is. He's dangerous. He's going to -- he kills people, Edmund. simony Edmund: I know that.
Mateo: He's threatened my family. Do you understand that? He's threatened me. Even my kids, for God's sake.
Edmund: Mateo, that's how he operates.
Mateo: Yeah, well, I got the message. It took me a while, but I got the message.
Simone: But that's what he wants.
Mateo: Well, he got it. He got it. Because you know what? Making an honest dollar, running a business clean isn't worth it if your family's being threatened, if they're not safe.
Edmund: So what are you going to do? You going to buckle under to Proteus?
Mateo: To keep my family safe? You're damn right.
Edmund: You can live with that?
Mateo: I've accepted it.
Edmund: Just like that?
Mateo: Just like that. It's my reality, and I'm being compensated, which makes it a little bit easier for me.
Simone: I don't want to hear this.
Mateo: Well, you should listen to it, and if you're smart, you'll do the same thing that I'm doing.
Simone: Never.
Mateo: Your little magazine story is going to stop him? You know, put a dent in him? Nothing. It's not going to do anything if you live to write it.
Simone: You know what? I've had enough of this.
Mateo: Yeah, well, I -- I'm saying this because I don't want you to end up dead. You understand me? And you -- your kids don't need to lose another parent, Edmund.
Edmund: They're not going to.
Simone: And we are not going to be intimidated.
Mateo: It's not about you. Do you realize that? It's not about you. It's about your family. It's about your family. Do you have somebody you love?
Simone: Of course I do, but that is not the point!
Mateo: Think about them. Think about them. Because, God knows, I'm thinking about mine.

Hayley: Thanks for watching the baby, Honey.
Rosa: Oh, yeah, absolutely. You know babysitting Enzo's my favorite thing to do.
Hayley: Aw.
Rosa: Where's Teo?
Hayley: I guess working late again.
Rosa: Well, call him, tell him to come home. You're by yourself way too much, Hayley.
Hayley: Oh, I know it. I did call him. They just can't find him at the club. I guess he's working in another part of town.
Rosa: This time of night?
Hayley: He'll show up eventually. He usually comes in around 2:00 Or 3:00.
Rosa: In the morning?
Hayley: Mm-hmm.
Rosa: Since when?
Hayley: It's been happening a lot lately.
Rosa: And you haven't tried to strangle him yet?
Hayley: Well, you know, he's working hard for me and the baby.
Rosa: No, Hayley. Listen, he's being a big, fat jerk. And you're defending him. You're a saint, you know that?
Hayley: Yes, I know.

[Rosa laughs]

Hayley: I don't like it, but I understand, you know.
Rosa: He doesn't deserve you. You tell him I said that.
Hayley: I will. Bye.
Rosa: Night-night. Hayley thanks.
Rosa: Bye, Ryan.

Hayley: She's so cute.
Ryan: Yeah. Listen, I'm going to split.
Hayley: No, no.
Ryan: All right? No, I'm going to split.
Hayley: No, you are not splitting. You are sitting with me and we're just going to hang out and talk.
Ryan: I don't feel right being here, Hayley. I just --
Hayley: Well, that's too bad because I certainly wasn't going to leave you at the Bates Motel.
Ryan: Well, you should have left me at the hospital.
Hayley: Oh, right, so I could watch you and my dad duke it out? I don't think so.
Ryan: I'm ok, Hayley.
Hayley: Ryan, you don't want to be off when you're dealing with my father, ok? You need sure footing where he's concerned, or he will -- he will suck you into his dark place. It's like a whirlpool. Believe me, nobody knows that better than me.
Ryan: I just -- I really don't get it. How are you two related? It's like beautiful, perfect daughter and father from hell. It doesn't compute. I don't understand.
Hayley: Well, you know what the scary part is? I don't really that -- I don't think we're all that different.
Ryan: Please.
Hayley: I don't, not in some ways, anyhow.
Ryan: Name one.
Hayley: Parenting. Parenting. When Enzo was born, I -- I suddenly understood what my father says about protecting your children. I will protect my son. When he looks at me with those eyes, I will protect him at all costs, legal or otherwise. Ryan: The power of parenthood.
Hayley: It's awesome.

[Lorenzo cries]

Hayley: Oh. Right on cue, you see? Is mama boy -- mama boy. Hello. Hey, Sweetie. Oh, did you hear us talking about you? Did you hear us? Did you hear us talking about you? Did you hear us talking about you? Yes, you did. Huh? You want to say hello? Say hello. Oh, Ryan, I'm sorry.
Ryan: What?
Hayley: I didn't even think that this might bother you. I'm so sorry.
Ryan: Can I -- can I hold him?
Hayley: Are you sure?
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah.
Hayley: Well, sure. You want to see Ryan? Yeah. Yeah.

[Lorenzo fusses]

Ryan: Thank you.

David: Not that this is any of your business, Jake, but for the last time, I don't know Roger Smythe. I never even met the guy.
Jake: When he was sick, he wanted Greenlee to get you. He begged her to.
David: Well, maybe he finally got smart and decided to see the heart doctor that he was referred to, who he should have been seeing in the first place.
Jake: Then he split before you got there.
David: Well, perhaps he decided to see his old doctor in San Diego.

[Pager beeps]

David: Ah, there you go. Hopefully, this is a real emergency.

[Jake dials the phone]
Jake: Derek? Hey, this is Jake. Listen, I need a favor. I need some help in tracking down someone who may have left town in a hurry.

Leo: Wow. Jake's new place looks great.
Greenlee: It feels so good to be home.
Leo: Can I get you something? Can I get you anything, Greenlee?
Greenlee: A second chance.
Leo: What?
Greenlee: I wish I could go back to the day I was born and start all over again with Daddy. I'd make things so different for us.
Leo: Greenlee, whatever went down between you two, you were just a kid. You weren't the one who was supposed to make it work.
Greenlee: I was a brat, Leo. How else could it work out?
Leo: You were just a kid. It wasn't your fault.
Greenlee: But if I had made him love me, he wouldn't have lied to me. He wouldn't have left me. He wouldn't -- he wouldn't be lost right now.
Leo: Greenlee --
Greenlee: And I wouldn't feel so lost and so alone.
Leo: Greenlee, I'm going to be here for you.
Greenlee: I want Jake.
Leo: I can try to get him on the phone for you if you want.
Greenlee: No, no, no, don't call him.
Leo: But you just said that you wanted to --
Greenlee: No, I mean, I just -- I just meant that I want Jake to call me. I want him to tell me that he found Daddy and that everything's fine, he has no idea that I've been out of my -- it's just going to take some time for them to find him, right?
Leo: Yeah, that's the way it sounded to me.
Greenlee: And I have to be patient. Not my best event.
Leo: Not exactly.
Look, Greenlee, you should get some sleep. Look, you've got to be beat.
Greenlee: Not an option. I'm going to make some coffee. Would you like some?
Leo: Well, why don't you let me do it? Well, you really know your way around here, don't you?
Greenlee: I've lived here long enough. But not anymore. My penthouse is finished.
Leo: Oh.
Greenlee: Yeah, Jake moved me out. You know, I spent a fortune on that place, and it's still not -- I just feel really comfortable here, really safe.
Leo: Look, you know, even if you can't sleep, you should lie down. Ok, just forget about the coffee.
h Leo: Here, I'll get you a blanket.
Greenlee: No, no, no, no, no, no, I want it. I want it. It's a stupid thing Jake taught me.
Leo: Oh.
Greenlee: One night he came home really late from the ER and he found me here, and I was awake. I told him it happens all the time. I had insomnia as a kid.
Leo: But you never told me that.
Greenlee: Yeah. Yeah, and my parents would be off on their trips, and I would wander the halls all by myself and I'd be feeling really lonely. Jake said that the next time that that happens, that I should take a pillow, close my eyes, and hold it, and think of the person that I was missing. So the next time that I was alone, did it. Guess what.
Leo: It worked.
Greenlee: It always does. Wake me up if Jake calls.
Leo: I will.

Rev. Peterson: Sometimes a thing like this can be a wake-up call to make us realize how precious life is and our families. Don't be afraid to reach out, Liza.
Liza: I won't. Thank you, Reverend.
Rev. Peterson: Hmm. Take care.

Marian: Get out of here, Adam. Right now.
Liza: No. Mama, I want to talk to Adam.
Marian: But, Liza, you --
Liza: Do you mind? No, it's really ok.

Adam: I'm so sorry this happened, Liza. I want to do whatever I can to help. How soon before you can leave here?
Liza: Dr. Clader is signing me out. But I think that --
Adam: I want you to come back to the house. I want you to be there with Colby.
Liza: I think we should talk.
Adam: We will. First, we need some time to heal. And I want to give you all the space and the privacy and care that you'll need to do that. That's all. I promise I won't -- I won't bother you.
Liza: Adam --
Adam: I want to take you home, Liza.

Hayley: Oh, that's Mommy's baby. That's Mommy's baby.
Hayley: I'm sorry this place is such a mess.
Ryan: I was actually just thinking -- you and Mateo, you have it all. You have -- I mean, you have a perfect life.
Hayley: I wish I could see it that way. I'm sorry. That was a really insensitive thing to say.
Ryan: Why?
Hayley: I don't know. I -- I just -- you don't need to here me complain about my life.
Ryan: Come on, Hayley, I don't want to hear that stuff. What's wrong? What's going on?
Hayley: I -- it's thing. I just feel like -- did you ever wonder if there was some sort of manual in life that taught you how to be happy and normal?
Ryan: And everybody else has a copy but you?
Hayley: Yeah. You know, like when you grow up the way you grew up and the way I grew up, you know what it's like to wake up in the morning, you know, and on your way to the breakfast table, you're trying to not step on any landmines.
Ryan: Getting to the cereal without bleeding was always a goal, yeah.
Hayley: Yeah, well, now that I got my own family to take care of, the landmines, I think, are still there, you know, underneath the floorboards.
Ryan: Well, they're tough to get rid of.
Hayley: I know it's all in my head, but I feel like I got to watch every step I take.
Ryan: What's in the landmines?
Hayley: You know, I got a husband who loves me and a beautiful baby, and I don't want to think about anything else.
Ryan: But?
Hayley: I -- I have other thoughts. I have bad thoughts that I don't want to have anymore, thoughts that I shouldn't be having anymore.
Ryan: You have thoughts about drinking.

h Dr. Clader: Liza, I've signed off on your release forms. Now I want you to remember what I told you about taking it easy.
Marian: Oh, she will, doctor. I'll see to that. Come on, Darling. I'll take you back to my house.
Liza: No, Mama, I want you to bring Colby to the main house.
Marian: Oh, Liza --
Liza: Adam's going to take me home.

[Leo reads something he found in Jake's loft]
Leo: "I, Greenlee Smythe, hereby promise to avoid all contact with all appliances which can burn out, die in water, or produce sparks. Sorry about the blender, Jake. Love, me."

Greenlee: That was nothing. My first week here, I blew up the stove.
Leo: You're up.
Greenlee: Yeah. How long have I been asleep?
Leo: Not long.
Greenlee: No one called?
Leo: No.
Greenlee: Right.
Leo: So you trashed the stove?

[Leo laughs]

Greenlee: The hardest part was getting the tomatoes out of the kitchen vent. Jake wasn't amused.
Leo: Yeah, well, tomatoes in a kitchen vent are serious business, Greens.
Greenlee: I was so careless when I started living here. I drove Jake mad because he's, like, the world's premiere neat freak.
Leo: You and a neatnik? Never would have guessed.
Greenlee: Yeah, Jake was always on my case. He was like some kind of drill sergeant pounding this stuff into my head day after day.
Leo: Well, that sounds like a lot of fun.
Greenlee: Huh! Agh! Got so mad until it got to where I learned that I could do things. Domestic things.
Leo: You and domestic? No, those two words don't even belong in the same sentence.
Greenlee: I like doing those. That's what makes me feel like I'm not totally helpless.
Leo: Well, if you say so.
Greenlee: I'll have you know that thanks to Jake, I can cook. Don't look at me like that. I can make coffee and a grilled cheese sandwich.
Leo: Wow. Brava.
Greenlee: And I don't break nearly as many appliances as I used to. That -- that blender was weeks ago.
Leo: Ok, ok, ok, I'm impressed, all right?
Greenlee: So was I.
Leo: He'll call, Greenlee.
Greenlee: I know. So, back at the hospital, you were going to tell me the real reason you broke off the wedding. What were you going to say, Leo?

Ryan: Hayley, you're a recovering alcoholic. You will always be in recovery.
Hayley: Yeah, but I thought that it would be different when I had a family of my own. I prayed to God it would be different.
Ryan: You just thought that all of a sudden the nasty booze thoughts would never come into your mind again?
Hayley: My biggest nightmare is that Lorenzo is going to grow up with a mother who cuddles a bottle of booze instead of cuddling him.
Ryan: Isn't there something like "one day at a time"? Hayley, you're not drinking, right? That's the important thing. You're not drinking. Thoughts are just -- they're thoughts.
Hayley: Ok. I am Hayley. I am not Arlene.
Ryan: And you're an incredible mother.
Hayley: Are you sure about that?
Ryan: You're the best. Hayley, please. You're the best. Take it from somebody that knows the hard way.
Hayley: I want to be. I swear, I want to be more than anything.
Ryan: I know that.
Hayley: Thanks for listening
Ryan: You talked to Mateo about all this?
Hayley: I did when I was pregnant. And then when Lorenzo was born, I spoke to him about it, and he was great.
Ryan: Well, maybe it's time to have another chat.
Hayley: Something tells me that he would really not understand me still having these fears now.
Ryan: Well, when you have parents like ours, you'll always be afraid that one day you're going to wake up in the morning and find out that you turned into them. And it's hard for people who didn't grow up in the bunkers to get that.
Hayley: Speaking of parents, I want you to promise me that you will stay away from Adam.
Ryan: You know what gets me about Adam, about your father, is that when I look at him, I see my old man.
Hayley: My father and your father are alike?
Ryan: Well, Adam's classier on the outside, but underneath, he's the same man who will throw his fists at anybody who gets in his way or says something that he just doesn't like, or --

[Lorenzo fusses]

Hayley: I suppose that is true.
Ryan: Well, there's no way that anybody could get through to my dad. No way you could've stopped him.

[Lorenzo cries]

Ryan: Sorry.

[Lorenzo stops crying]

Hayley: You can't get through to my father, either. But my father did not kill your baby, Ryan. It was an accident, and you've got to know that.
Ryan: Maybe.
Hayley: Not maybe. Definitely. That doesn't excuse him for all the other things that he's done in your life. But this one thing -- you've got to let go of the anger that you're feeling.
Ryan: Why? Because you don't want me to get into it with him?
Hayley: So you can grieve. So you can mourn for the baby you lost. Forget Adam.

[Lorenzo fusses]

Ryan: Well, you obviously need to take care of your baby. You don't need me hanging around here.

Hayley: No, no, no. It's ok. It'll just take me a couple of seconds to see what he wants.
Ryan: What he probably wants is to be able to sleep without people talking right beside him, so I'm going to let myself out.
Ryan: Hayley, you're an incredible mother. Don't you ever doubt that.

[Ryan leaves]

Hayley: I know, Sweetie. I know you miss Daddy. Yeah. Oh, Mommy misses him, too. Yeah, he's going to come home to us soon, you know. Yeah, Daddy's coming home to us real soon. I promise. Yes, my --

[Hayley sees a figure hiding in the shadows]

[Hayley gasps]

Edmund: Mateo, I'm not going to fight with you -- and neither is Simone -- about what you're doing. Just don't shut us out.
Mateo: I got to go. I got to get back to work.
Edmund: Mateo, we need to clear this up.
Mateo: I just did.

Leo: Greenlee, this isn't the time to tell you what I was going to say. It can wait.
Greenlee: Don't do that. Tell me. Jake, Jake, did you find him?
Jake: No, no, but there's a new lead. The police found Roger's car just outside Philadelphia.
Greenlee: And Daddy?
Jake: No sign of him so far, but I'm going to Philly right now. I just came back here to make sure that you were ok.
Greenlee: I'll go with you.
Jake: No, no, no. No, I need you to stay here.
Greenlee: He's my father.
Jake: I know, Greenlee, but the best thing that you can do for him is to let me go find him, all right? You're tired, you're stressed out. I don't want to be worried about you.
Greenlee: All right.
Jake: All right. I'm going to give you a call as soon as I hear anything. I promise.
Greenlee: I'm really worried about him.
Jake: I know. It's going to be ok. Leo, you're going to spend the night here, right?
Leo: Yeah.
Greenlee: Thank you, Jake. Thank you for doing this for me.

Simone: I can't believe Mateo turned.
Edmund: He hasn't.
Simone: You just heard him.
Edmund: He's lying. That's the real problem.
Simone: What's going on with him?
Edmund: My guess? He's decided to take Proteus out.
Simone: On his own.
Edmund: Yeah.
Simone: So he wants to die.
Edmund: It's not going to come to that because I'm going to get to Proteus first.
Simone: Oh, great. So you're going to be a cowboy, too. How are you planning to stop him?
Edmund: We know how he works. He finds out the strengths and the weaknesses of his soldiers and he targets them very carefully. By the time they're chosen, it's like he knows them up close and personal.
Simone: Ok, but, Edmund, how is knowing that supposed to help?
Edmund: I'm going to find out how Proteus got to Mateo and why he chose him. And when I find that out, I'm going to use it to nail that bastard.

[A dazed Mateo wakes up and hears Hayley's voice]

Hayley: Mateo, help me!

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN
Erica: If you just plant these drugs on Frankie, it'll get her out of Bianca's life.

Dixie: This is over, Tad, for good.

Ryan: Hayley, I was just about to take off when I saw your lights go out. You ok?

Mateo: Just make me part of the team and I'll go straight to the top.
