ALL MY CHILDREN

PREVIOUSLY ON - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Erica: I heard Bianca say that she thought that she loved you. Do you have feelings for Bianca, too?

Greenlee: Daddy, where did you go? Why did you leave?
Roger: Can't remember anything.

Laura: I don't feel right!
Leo: Would you please stop pulling this garbage on me? It's over.

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

[Laura has collapsed on the floor of Jake's loft]

[Laura wheezes]
Laura: Leo?

Frankie: What are you doing?
Erica: I am merely asking what I think is a very normal question under the circumstances, Frankie. Do you love Bianca or don't you?
Frankie: Why are you doing this?
Erica: Oh. Well, clearly your reluctance is my answer. You don't love --
Frankie: What if I did say yes? Huh? Is that really what you want to hear?
Erica: I really want to hear the truth.
Frankie: At if my truth is that I do love your daughter? I love her, and I'm going to do anything I can to make her happy, get my act together. What if I say -- what if I say I'm staying in Pine Valley and, well, going back to college and looking for an off-campus place for me and your daughter so she can legally get away from you and all your control over her? What will you do if you're looking at the person your daughter is ready to spend the rest of her life with? What will you do then? Will you let her down like you always have? Or, what, throw us a coming-out party for the two of us and let me call you Mom? Really, Erica, what would you do if I was your new reality?

Greenlee: You don't remember anything?
Roger: No, nothing. No. Nothing at all.
Greenlee: Daddy, you had a heart attack or something.
Roger: Yes?
Greenlee: Yeah, yeah, you were at my office and you told me to go get help. You said the only person that could help you was David Hayward. Remember? Jake, what is going on? My father can't remember anything that happened to him.
Jake: All right, well, that can happen sometimes with a heart episode. How you feeling, Roger? Your breathing a little less labored?
Roger: Better.
Greenlee: He's on oxygen.
Jake: Well, that's standard, all right? I don't want you reading anything into this, ok? Noreen, I need you to call CCU and order me an EKG, a CAT scan, and a complete blood count. And tell them I don't want to hear anything about a backlog, ok?
Noreen: Yes, Dr. Martin.

David: Cancel those test orders, Noreen.
Jake: David, what the hell are you even doing here?
David: If there are any tests needed for Mr. Smythe, I will be the one authorizing them. He's my patient.

Edmund: You remember.
Brooke: How to kiss? I haven't been idle, Edmund.
Edmund: How to kiss me.
Brooke: Uh-huh.
Edmund: Want to run everybody's itinerary by me one more time?
Brooke: Jamie is sleeping overnight at Keith's --
Edmund: Always liked Keith.
Brooke: And Aunt Phoebe is self-medicated, as you heard.
Edmund: Hmm, the wonders of pharmaceuticals.
Brooke: And your children are asleep at their house with the world's best nanny standing by.
Edmund: I love Peggy.
Brooke: And Laura made it clear that she doesn't want my help anymore tonight.
Edmund: Which, you know, is ok, even though you're still worried about her. Did you make your bed this morning?
Brooke: Would it make a difference?
Edmund: Not in the least.

[Phone rings]

Brooke: I do have an answering machine. It's a wonderful piece of hardware.
Edmund: You know what?
[Ring]
Brooke: What?
Edmund: You don't answer that, it's going to bug you all night. And I want your full attention.
[Ring]
Edmund: So answer the phone.
Brooke: Ok.
Edmund: Be quick about it. It's the last quick thing you're doing tonight.
[Ring]

Brooke: Hello? Hello? Hello? Who is this?

Jake: Hayward, get the hell out of here now.
Roger: No. I want him to see me. Please, don't make him leave.
David: I contacted your cardiologist in San Diego, Mr. Smythe. He gave me a rundown on your pre-existing condition.
Greenlee: Daddy, you never told me --
David: I'm sure I can help you if that's what you really want. Good. Noreen, you know the standard, full-scope exam that I give heart patients.
Noreen: Yes, Dr. Hayward. Right away.
David: Thank you. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to examine your father in private, please.
Greenlee: Ok.

Leo: How is he?
Greenlee: I don't know. Your brother's working on him now.
Leo: He is?
Greenlee: Mm-hmm.
Leo: Well, did he say what happened tonight?
Greenlee: No. He doesn't remember.

Brooke: Well, the line is open, but nobody's talking. Hello? Hello? Ok, I'm hanging up if you don't say who you are.
Laura: [weakly] Mom?
Brooke: Laura?
Laura: I'm sick.
Brooke: Laura? Oh, my God. What happened, Honey? Where are you?
Laura: At Jake's loft.
Brooke: Laura? Oh, God! Edmund? Edmund?
Edmund: Let's go, let's go.

Erica: This may come as a complete surprise to you, but I have no intention of fighting with you over Bianca.
Frankie: You really wish I would just disappear, don't you? Just snap your fingers and make me go away, huh?
Erica: I would. But I can't, and I know that because Bianca is in love with you now, and love is a very, very powerful emotion. It takes control. It shatters your reason. It completely overwhelms you, so any feeling that I have about you or your intentions, well, just doesn't matter because Bianca loves you now.
Frankie: Look, I'm not hurting -- I'm not looking to hurt anyone, ok? Least of all, Bianca.
Erica: Really? Well, I hope that's true, especially for my daughter's sake. Look, could I explain to you what it is I've been afraid of with you ever since the beginning? Do you -- can you sit still long enough to hear?
Frankie: Yeah, I've been hearing everything you said so far.
Erica: Good. I know a little bit about taking in strays. You take care of them, you give them shelter, you feed them. And then sometimes, maybe it's not even any of their fault, but they bite you back.
Frankie: That's what you're scared of?
Erica: That's what I've been scared of since the beginning with you and Bianca. The only difference now is that she's in love with you so that any amount of warning or protection from me -- that just doesn't matter at all, and I know that. So, as I see it, I have two choices. I can reject you and lose my daughter, or I can welcome you into our lives and keep my daughter.
Frankie: Ok, so, what's it going to be?
Erica: Well, I always choose Bianca. I choose the latter, Frankie. So I -- I will help you in any way that I can as long as you truly -- as long as you really feel for Bianca the way she feels for you.
Frankie: What does that look like, exactly?
Erica: I really don't have a clue. But I do think the first step is to stop being adversaries. So I accept defeat. I think that I've accepted graciously. How about you? Can you be a humble winner?
Erica: We'll save the handshake for another time.
Frankie: Look, I just didn't know if --
Erica: It's all right, Frankie. I get the feeling that you're not used to kindness. In fact, maybe that's one reason you have attached yourself to my daughter.
Frankie: Hey, like I said, I'm not out to hurt her. Ok?
Erica: But love hurts. A lot of the time, Frankie, love hurts very, very much.

Bianca: Hey.
Erica: Hi, Sweetheart. Hi.
Bianca: Hi.
Erica: Did you make us all some tea?
Bianca: Oh, yeah. It's steeping downstairs. Kind of like the mood in this room. What happened?
Erica: Frankie, would you like to tell Bianca what happened or would you like me to? I know that I threw a lot out there for you, Frankie, so that's fine. I'll tell Bianca.
Bianca: What is it, Mom?
Erica: Frankie and I had a very honest conversation while you were gone.
Bianca: About what?
Frankie: She eavesdropped on us.
Bianca: What? When?
Frankie: Before, when we were talking, you know, about --
Bianca: Mom, you listened in on my private conversation with Frankie?
Erica: It was an accident, Honey.
Bianca: Mom, eavesdropping is not accidental. It is totally intentional. That was a really, really private moment.
Erica: I know. Look, I -- all right. I stayed and listened to you tell Frankie that you -- about your feelings.
Bianca: That I love her. You can say it, Mom. You heard it.
Erica: I didn't mean to, though. I really didn't. I came up here because I was going to speak to both of you, and when I got to the door, I heard what you were saying to Frankie. And then I was going to walk away, but I couldn't.
Bianca: Why not?
Frankie: I guess it was like a train wreck -- couldn't take her eyes off of it.
Erica: Bianca, I'm sorry, Honey. I really am very, very sorry that I intruded into your privacy. But I am not sorry that I heard the truth. You know how I feel about Frankie. But after I heard you say the things that you did to Frankie about how you feel -- well, how I feel about you two being together -- this just has no weight at all.
Bianca: What are you saying, Mom?
Erica: I'm saying that if you actually -- if you truly -- I mean, in fact, if you do love Frankie, then I have no choice but to accept that.
Bianca: What does -- what does "accept" mean to you, mom?
Erica: I will -- I will welcome Frankie as best I can into our lives, into yours. That's all there is to it. Bianca?
Bianca: Oh, Mom. Oh, thank you.
Erica: I just want you to be happy, Honey. Oh, that's all I've ever wanted for you, Honey.

Roger: What happened to me, David? I can't remember anything. It's as if my short-term memory was cleared out. Is it something you gave me?
Noreen: The lab is all set for him, Dr. Hayward.
David: Thank you, Noreen. I'll call you if I need you. You really are a stupid man, Roger. How the hell did you live this long?
Roger: What? What did I do?
David: You have made your last foolish mistake. Am I clear?

Leo: So what's the deal? If he's saying that he can't remember anything, is he also saying that he wasn't even sick in the first place?
Jake: No, Leo. He's not saying that at all. And it wouldn't be true if he did say it.
Leo: I just --
Greenlee: He's just all messed up, Leo.
Leo: I just don't understand how any of this could happen.
Jake: Are you questioning Roger here or Greenlee?
Greenlee: Jake, don't.
Jake: No, no. No, really -- are you wondering if Greenlee concocted this whole crazy idea just so she could interrupt your vow renewal at the Valley Inn?
Leo: I didn't say that, Jake.
Jake: Because she didn't. Roger suffered some kind of attack. Now, why he doesn't remember how it happened, I can't tell you. But I can tell you that Greenlee's telling the truth. Ok?

Brooke: Laura, Darling?
Edmund: Laura? Laura?
Brooke: Laura? Laura, Honey, can you hear me?
Laura, Honey? Come on.
Edmund: Yeah, I need an ambulance. Uh, 7-- 718 Valley Road.
Brooke: Come on, come on! Edmund: Heart transplant
patient. She collapsed.

Brooke: Oh, God, Edmund, I think I feel a pulse.
Edmund: A pulse?
Brooke: Yeah.
Edmund: Come on, Laura, wake up. Come on, baby. She's breathing.
Brooke: Oh, God. Laura? Laura, Honey? Hi. I'm here.
Laura: You came.
Brooke: Yeah, I'm here. I'm here, ok? It's ok, it's ok.
Laura: My heart and chest, it's so tight Mom.
Edmund: Ok, it's going to be ok. There's an ambulance coming right away, all right?
Brooke: Yeah.
Edmund: You just hang in there.
Brooke: Ok?
Laura: I called Leo. He hung up.
Brooke: Why -- you hung up with Leo and then this happened?
Laura: No, no. He hung up on me. My heart.
Edmund: Ok, listen, we're not waiting, ok?
Brooke: All right, all right.
Edmund: Come on.
Brooke: You got her?
Edmund: Let's go. I'll take her myself, let's go. Come on, come on, let's go. It's ok, it's ok. Come on.

Erica: I'm so glad that we're all settled, then. Are you?
Bianca: Oh, yes, I am. Mom, this is great. I'm glad about this. I'm really so glad.
Erica: All right, then. I didn't mean to overstay my welcome and I have a lot to do tomorrow, so I'm going to be going home now. Do you need a ride home, Honey? It's very late.
Bianca: Oh, no, I'm -- I think I'm going to stay here for a while longer.
Erica: Ok, then you just -- you be safe whenever you drive home -- I mean, when you drive home. Ok. And I'll be seeing you around, then. Thank you for listening to me, Frankie. Let's all just try and build on what we started here tonight, all of us.

Frankie: Now, she is one big mama.
Bianca: Frankie.
Frankie: Oh, really. I mean, I know she's small and all, but she is one huge woman.
Bianca: God, she really is.
Frankie: Jeez, what an act, huh?
Bianca: You think that was an act?
Frankie: What, you don't?
Bianca: Frankie, I know my mom really well. She was really trying just now -- I mean, big-time trying.
Frankie: So you actually believed that she all of a sudden likes me?
Bianca: No. No, not at all.
Frankie: But you just said --
Bianca: I'm not an idiot, Frankie.
Frankie: I know that.
Bianca: Look, my mom -- she doesn't want me to be gay, but she accepts that I am, in a weird, convoluted way, and she gets love. She does, she gets love. She may be wrapped up her own straight little world in her head, but she loves me, Frankie, and she's not going to push me away by hating you.
Frankie: Ok, but you just said --
Bianca: No, I said that she didn't just wake up and start liking you, but she's going to deal with you. Come on, just the idea of my having a girlfriend would totally freak her out. Frankie, you need to chill.
Frankie: Me?
Bianca: Yeah, you. I'm -- I'm just talking here and you're starting to wig out because I called you my girlfriend. Look, can we just relax and just be glad that she's not going to try to keep us apart anymore, ok?
Frankie: I'd love to, but I don't get you. You're so easygoing.
Bianca: Me? I'm so not. I just -- I know what battles to fight with her. Can we stop talking about my mother?
Frankie: Yeah. I guess. I don't know. So what do you want to talk about?
Bianca: You crack me up.
Frankie: Hey, that's why I'm here -- for your amusement.
Bianca: You think?
Frankie: Ok. I admit it -- I -- I don't know how to handle your mom. I mean, I can't just shake her off like you do.
Bianca: Ok. So do you mind if I try to change the subject?
Frankie: Yeah, go ahead.
Bianca: Ok. I decided something when I was downstairs making tea before.
Frankie: Oh, the tea. It's probably cold by now. You want to go --
Bianca: Oh, no, forget about the tea. I want to talk about us.
Frankie: Ok. What do you want to talk about? Us --
Bianca: Frankie, I don't want to pressure you at all.
Frankie: I know you don't.
Bianca: And I know that what I said to you before about the way I feel about you, that could feel like pressure.
Frankie: Yeah, I guess, but I know you didn't, you know, mean to do anything like that.
Bianca: Well, this could be too much, then.
Frankie: What, you mean what you were thinking about when you were downstairs?
Bianca: Yeah.
Frankie: What is it?
Bianca: All right, I know that you don't know how you feel about everything yet, but there's something that I want to give you.
Frankie: Like what? Oh, my God.
[Bianca removes her necklace]
Bianca: This was from my father. And he was a totally amazing person and -- and I know that he was totally cool about me even though I never got a chance to tell him who I was before -- before he died. And so I -- I don't think that he would have a problem if we changed the pictures when you wore it.
Frankie: I'm sorry, I can't.
Bianca: Yeah, you can. Frankie, please, I -- listen, I don't need to be reminded that I'm loved. I know I'm loved. But you -- you do. You need to know that somebody loves you, that I love you. So please, can I put it on you?
Frankie: I can't.
Bianca: Yes, you can, you can. You really can. Come on, just let me in.
Frankie: I don't know what to do with this. I -- or your kindness. I've never dealt with this before. I --
Bianca: Just -- just feel it, ok? Get used to it. Bianca: Sleep well.

Greenlee: Thanks for that.
Jake: For what?
Greenlee: Making sure Leo knows I didn't do any of this to ruin his wedding day with Laura.
Jake: Well, it's the truth, and Leo needed to know that.
Greenlee: Yeah. Still, it was a really cool thing to do.
Jake: Well, that's me -- really cool.
Greenlee: Stop it. I owe you.
Jake: Please don't say that.
Greenlee: I mean about my dad.
Jake: Oh.
Greenlee: I mean, you tracked him down, you got him here. He could've died.
Jake: That's my job, Greenlee.
Greenlee: No, you were doing more than your job, and we both know it.
Jake: Well, we're friends, and I take care of my friends.
Greenlee: You take care of me.
Jake: Listen, this whole thing that went down in here with David, him and I making a barking match in front of your dad, I'm really sorry.
Greenlee: Well, something is weird about that. I just want Daddy to be well.
Jake: Your dad is going to be ok, trust me.
Greenlee: You know, growing up with him wasn't easy. I mean, Daddy was never around and, when he was, he didn't pay a lot of attention to me. And he's also exactly not the most selfless man I know.
Jake: So what are you getting at?
Greenlee: You are -- as a doctor, as a friend, as a lover.
Jake: I'm not selfless as a lover and you know that, but thanks.
Greenlee: You're a hero, Jake, to a lot of people. Most of all to me. I mean that.
Jake: Thanks.

Brooke: Jake! Jake!

Jake: All right, all right, steady.
Brooke: It's her heart, it's her heart.
Jake: Easy, easy.
Edmund: She was unconscious when we found her.
Jake: Ok. All right. Laura?
Brooke: She said she couldn't breathe very well and her chest hurt.
Jake: Ok, Laura, it's Jake. Can you hear me?
Laura: My heart.
Brooke: Please help her.
Jake: Ok, just relax. Laura, just wait right here. Hold that door for me, please.

Edmund: Brooke, just -- just let him see her, ok?
Brooke: Oh, my God, Edmund, what happened? My God.
Leo: What happened?
Brooke: You did, you bastard!

[Bianca stands over her grandmother, Mona's grave]

Bianca: Grandma, you did it. You and Daddy. I prayed for so long for Mom to understand who I am, and she finally gets it.
[Erica comes up behind Bianca]
Bianca: Oh, Mom.
Erica: Oh. Bianca. Look, I swear, I had no idea that you would be here. I mean, I don't want to interrupt you, Honey.
Bianca: No, it's ok. Stay, stay. Grandma would probably like to see us both here together.
Erica: Oh, I bet Grandma would probably want to make us all some tea.
Bianca: Probably. Um, how much did you hear?
Erica: I -- I just heard you thank Grandma for helping to bring me around.
Bianca: It means so much to me, Mom. I mean, I don't even know if I can tell you what it meant to me to see you trying with Frankie today.
Erica: Well, I can only try, Honey.
Bianca: Oh, yeah, of course, and, like, that's all I can ask. I know I can't make you like Frankie, so I'm not going to force her on you without asking or anything like that.
Erica: No, I know that, Honey.
Bianca: She's my girlfriend now. I know that you don't like the way that sounds.
Erica: It's more -- it's more like I just don't know what to do with how that sounds.
Bianca: Fair enough. Look, I had my say with Grandma. You can have yours now.
Erica: Are you sure?
Bianca: Yeah, absolutely. Mom?
Erica: Yes?
Bianca: I lost so many people that I cared about last year.
Erica: I know.
Bianca: I mean, first Daddy, and then Sarah couldn't handle it, so she left, and Rain left, and I had such a nice friendship with Laura, but that didn't work out, either.
Erica: I know, Honey. I know how hard it was for you.
Bianca: I just -- I don't know if I could take it if I lost Frankie, too. I -- I really -- I don't know if I could handle it.

Leo: Don't you blame this on me, Brooke. Don't blame me for whatever's wrong with Laura right now.
Brooke: Did she call you or didn't she? And be a man and tell me.
Leo: I didn't believe her. I thought that she --
Brooke: Was faking? Is that it? You know, your wife, Leo, has a new heart inside her chest. You remember? You think she'd fake it, do anything at all like that?
Leo: Well, she's done it before!
Brooke: We found her unconscious! She had to call me because you hung up on her! And if that delay means the difference in her making it or --
Edmund: Just take it easy, take it easy.
Brooke: I didn't know you wanted to kill her off because you lost interest in her. Oh, now I understand. This is perfect.
Leo: Look, I tried to do the right thing! I know that I handled this really, really badly, Brooke, but you have to believe me. If I would've known that she was sick, I would've been here right away. You know that!
Brooke: You lying, lousy son of a --
Leo: Come on!
Brooke: You know what? I wish she'd never met you! I swear, Leo, you are a curse. She took Ecstasy and almost died because of that, because she was hurting so badly. That almost killed her before her heart did, and it's all your fault. And you know what? I'm telling you, if anything happens to her, I'm going to hold it against you until you breathe your last miserable breath!
Edmund: Brooke, listen, stop it! Stop this now.

David: Just lie there and behave, Roger.
Roger: Where -- where are we going?
David: I said behave. Excuse me.
Roger: Are -- are you going to let me die?
David: No. Unfortunately, you've become too important to die.

Erica: You get home safely now, ok, please?
Bianca: I will, I will, I will.
Erica: Ok.
Bianca: I'll make us breakfast.
Erica: Ok.

[Erica talks at Mona's grave site after Bianca leaves]

Erica: Oh, Mom. What do I do? I know I've asked before and I know you can't really say, but I need help. I see so much of myself in Bianca. And then again, nothing. But what I do recognize is just so familiar and so painful. I mean, she's at such a vulnerable point in her life. And I swear, mom, I swear this Frankie is bad news. I mean, I swear, I have had a bad feeling about Frankie since she threw herself in front of my car that night. But the things is, what if I'm wrong? How awful would that be? I mean, it wouldn't be awful in one way, but in another.
Erica: I know that I never listened to you when you had a sense about a boy I was crazy about, that he was wrong for me. Why won't it be any easier for Bianca with me about a girl? I just -- I just wish you were here. I just wish you could help. Oh, and how I wish that I could be half the mother to Bianca that you were to me.
Erica: Oh, Mom. Please, help me keep my baby safe. Please?

Greenlee: I'm sorry.
Leo: No, it's ok.
Greenlee: No, if you weren't with me tonight, maybe you would've found her.
Leo: No, it's -- it's -- you know, I didn't make her collapse.
Greenlee: You don't have to tell me that.
Leo: Thank you.
Greenlee: I mean, just if you were with her and not with me tonight, maybe things --
Leo: No, I'm where I'm supposed to be -- with you. I don't know what happened to Laura.
Greenlee: Did you really hang up on her?
Leo: Yeah, but I thought she was lying again. I have to end this. I mean, really end it. And I think I know how.

Edmund: Ok, listen to me -- look, Brooke, I know you're scared and I know you're angry, but you can't blame Leo for Laura being sick. You really can't. It's not fair to him and it's not fair to you.
Brooke: I don't give a damn about him.
Edmund: It's not fair to him because he didn't do anything wrong. Now listen to me, where did we find Laura? We found her at Jake's loft, right? Jake's loft. Now, she promised she was going straight home. She's at Jake's loft where Greenlee lives. Now, why was she there?
Brooke: I don't know.
Edmund: Don't you see? She lied to us, ok? She went to go after Greenlee or Leo or both of them, she got there, something went wrong, but you can't blame this on Leo. You just can't.
Brooke: What do you want from me? My daughter has a newly transplanted heart and it seems that it stopped working tonight. What am I supposed to do?
Edmund: I know. Be there for her. Take care of her, ok? And then when she's well enough to answer this question, you're going to ask her why she's doing what she's doing and why she's been doing what she's been doing for a long, long time. Because here's the thing, Brooke -- you really want to help your daughter? You got to be honest with yourself about who she is, what she's done, and what happened to her to make her get that way. Can you do that?
Brooke: I'm so afraid for her.
Edmund: I know. Brooke, the problems with Laura go way deeper than her heart. And if she's ever going to get better, she needs you to help her look at that.

[Leo approaches Brooke outside of Laura's hospital room]

Leo: Take this.
Brooke: What is that? What am I supposed to do with this?
Leo: It's a check. I want you to cash it. It's not everything, not by a long shot. It's my first installment. I'm going to keep giving you those until I've completely paid you back.

[Laura can hear what Leo and Brooke are saying]
Laura: Pay back for what?

Leo: You gave me the money because you wanted me to take care of Laura, you wanted me to keep her spirits up, and I took it because I wanted to do that. I wanted to keep her spirits up. I wanted her to live. I still want her to live, and I don't care whether or not you believe that.
Brooke: Why are you doing this now?
Leo: You know, I don't think you quite understand. I gave up my life to make Laura well. It didn't work. It couldn't have. I can see that now. In fact, I probably made it worse.

Laura: No.

Leo: I made her more needy and more dependent, and I'll take full responsibility for that, but I will not live the rest of my life in debt to you. And I won't pretend that everything that I did for her and everything that you did and everything that you gave us was a wash because none of it is. I did the best that I could. And I -- I am sorry. From the bottom of my heart, Brooke, I'm sorry. But I need my life back. I want it back, and I'm going to take it. This is a clean break. It's over, for good.

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Stuart: We're going home for the holidays!

Edmund: Time to change the rules of Thanksgiving.

Chris: Mmm, I'm impressed. Did you defrost this yourself?

Myrtle: You are a blessing.

[Caroling]

Tad: Tell the truth -- did you do this?
