ALL MY CHILDREN

OCTOBER 10, 2000

[Dimitri mumbles]

Alex: Hello, Gorgeous.
Dimitri: Ooh. Boy, there you are. I was getting worried. I called Dixie at the hospital. She said you left some time ago.
Alex: Oh, yeah, I took Sam and Maddie on a nature walk.
Dimitri: Yeah?
Alex: Aren't they pretty?
Dimitri: Oh, those are absolutely beautiful.
Alex: Missed you.
Dimitri: Missed you, too.
Alex: I love this time of year. Everything seems to be getting ready to have a nice, long winter's nap.
Dimitri: Ah. Well, I guess we're going to have to bear down.
Alex: Oh, until spring at least.
Dimitri: Yeah. Maybe by then Edmund will have thawed towards us a little bit.
Alex: I looked for him up at the house. I don't know. Either he wasn't there or he was hiding from me.
Dimitri: The silence between us is -- it's tough.
Alex: What do you think we should do? Should we invite him down for a drink or something? Oh, I don't know.
Dimitri: No, no, no. Edmund will -- he'll let us know when he's ready.
Alex: Don't you think that we should spend the holidays together?
Dimitri: Alex, I think that has to go on your wish list.
Alex: Oh. You writing a love letter?
Dimitri: That's an IOU. It's good for one romantic evening in front of a roaring fire.
Alex: I'm free tonight.
Dimitri: That's exactly what I thought you were going to say. I can't. Ryan called. I have to meet him. He wants to talk.
Alex: Oh?
Dimitri: Probably about Gillian.
Alex: Oh.
Dimitri: But I promise you that I will not be late.

[Knock on door]

Alex: Promise me?
Dimitri: I promise. I won't be late.

Gillian: Hey.
Dimitri: Hey, Gillian. What a surprise. Hi.
Gillian: Hey.
Dimitri: Come on in.
Gillian: You know, every time I see you, it reminds me that maybe there's a happy ending for me after all.
Dimitri: Yeah, well, now, what's the trouble?
Gillian: Well, you want the short story or the miniseries?
Dimitri: I would love both stories, but I'm late for a meeting. I have to run.
Alex: But apparently I'm free all night.
Dimitri: Yeah. Now look it there -- you're in the best of hands, ok?
Gillian: Bye.
Dimitri: Won't be late.
Alex: Drive safely.
Dimitri: Bye-bye.
Gillian: Bye.

Alex: So, you want some tea?
Gillian: Whatever you have that's good for a breaking heart will be good.
Alex: Brandy. I've been neglecting you.
Gillian: Oh, that's ok. You and Dimitri have a lot of catching up to do.
Alex: Ah, it's no excuse. But I'm free all evening, so I'm going to do whatever I can. Here.
Gillian: Thank you. I'm not sure that there's anything anybody can do to make it better.
Alex: What's the matter?
Gillian: Alex, it's just everything. I moved back into Wildwind. Jake doesn't want me and neither does Ryan.
Edmund: When the bell rings, you mind if I go a few rounds?
Ryan: Yeah, sure. Sure.
Edmund: Does it help?

Jake: And as much as I hate to say it, I could never ask you to be faithful to me after everything that you've been through. And I'd never do that, especially since I can't even make love to you.
Gillian: What are you trying to say, Jake?
Jake's voice: I'm trying to say that I'm letting you go.

Tad: Paging Dr. Moe, Dr. Curly, Dr. Jake. Spread out.
Jake: When'd you get back?
Tad: I just came from the airport.
Jake: Yeah?
Tad: Yeah.
Jake: How was the trip?
Tad: It was all right. Negotiations were kind of tough, but we managed to save our shirts and our dignity even after that ColMar catastrophe. How about you? How you doing?
Jake: Oh, stronger than ever.
Tad: Good. Good job. Listen, I'm going to go upstairs and grab Dixie -- quite literally -- and we're going to go back home. Can I give you a ride? You want to get something to eat?
Jake: Oh, man, I'd love to. I'm swamped here and I'm just taking care of everything that piled up while I was gone.
Tad: What are you talking about? You nuts? You got a beautiful wife waiting for you at home. Why don't you take off? Why you want to stay here and push paper around your desk?
Jake: You know what, Tad -- Gillian is not home and she sure as hell isn't waiting for me.

Arlene: You're making me drink, Liza.
Liza: Just give me the bottle, Arlene.
Arlene: Your cursing this baby before it's even born. You won't let it have a father -- it's own father.
Liza: Arlene, just give me the bottle. We'll take care of your baby. Why don't you just go to bed?
Arlene: No, please, I ask you -- I ask you to leave. And this is not good for the baby!
Liza: You are being so selfish! You don't deserve to have Adam's baby!
Arlene: No, please let go!

[Arlene falls down the stairs]

Hayley: Arlene? Mom, can you hear me?
Adam: Oh, my God. What happened?
Liza: It was an accident.
Hayley: Arlene? Can you hear me? Open your eyes.
Liza: Oh, thank God.
Arlene: Oh, Hayley. Did you see?
Hayley: Shh, shh. Don't try to talk. I'm going to call 911.
Liza: Be careful with her.
Adam: Don't try to move, don't try to move. Just tell me where you're hurt.
Arlene: Oh, it's -- it's her fault.
Adam: Liza?
Liza: It's true.
Arlene: Oh, my God, my baby.
Arlene: Oh. My baby. She killed my baby.
Hayley: All right, stay calm, stay calm. The ambulance is on the way.

Adam: What's she talking about?
Liza: She had a bottle and she was going to drink --
Hayley: Can we please save the replay for later?

Arlene: Hayley? The baby -- I wanted you to be the mother.
Hayley: Mom, please, the baby's going to be fine, you're going to be fine. Just hang on.
Arlene: Please don't leave me.
Hayley: I won't leave you, I promise.

[Sirens approach]

Adam: Thank God. This way!
Hayley: The paramedics are here, ok? I don't want you to worry. I'm going to ride with you in the ambulance. Don't be afraid.
Paramedic: Can you tell me what happened?
Hayley: Yeah, she -- she fell down the stairs.
Paramedic: Did she lose consciousness?
Hayley: Yeah, she did. She's also pregnant.
Paramedic: How many months?
Hayley: About eight weeks, I think.

Paramedic: Pulse is strong.
Second paramedic: Let's get a collar on her and get her on the backboard.

Ryan: Edmund, I should let you know that I'm meeting Dimitri here.
Edmund: So what?
Ryan: All right. All right, listen, man, you want to use my gloves? You're going to split your knuckles on this bag, I'm telling you. All right.

Dimitri: Ryan. Hello, Edmund.
Edmund: Going to hit the weights.

Ryan: Listen, Dimitri, thank you for agreeing to meet me here.
Dimitri: Oh, it's ok. I assume that it's concerning Gillian?
Ryan: Wrong. No, absolutely not. Gillian is the last thing I want to talk about.

Gillian: Alex, have you ever done something totally convinced that it was for all the right reasons just to have it blow up in your face?
Alex: Quite recently.
Gillian: I came back from Chechnya with Jake, and it wasn't out of guilt. Well, you know, maybe just partly. But he saved my life and he needed me, so I came back with him and I wanted to help him settle back and get used to things again, and it turned out that that wasn't the right thing to do.
Alex: How so?
Gillian: Well, there are a lot of ways you can love someone. And what I feel for Jake is real, but that wasn't the love that he needed.
Alex: He's been at war. It changes people. You know that.
Gillian: He left me. He ordered me out of his life.
Alex: What were you fighting about?
Gillian: We weren't. We, uh -- we tried to make love and it didn't work.
Alex: Because you still have feelings for Ryan?
Gillian: I was going to -- I was going to tell Jake about Ryan as soon as he was a little stronger, but he just figured it out on his own.
Alex: Ah. Well --
Gillian: And he was just incredible. You know, he didn't once condemn or judge me. He was completely willing to accept everything and just move on from there, even if meant that we had no future together.
Alex: Well, he rose above it. Then he released you?
Gillian: Yeah.
Alex: Well, isn't this what you wanted? You're free to be with Ryan.
Gillian: I know.
Alex: Well, what are you doing here crying on my shoulder? Why aren't you with him?
Mateo: Hi. A patient was brought in -- Arlene Chandler? A miscarriage?
Nurse: There's an ambulance unloading outside now.
Mateo: Great. Thank you.

Hayley: All right, it's going to be all right. We're here now. Just try to breathe, ok?
Arlene: My baby. I can't lose my baby.
Hayley: You're going to be fine. Stay calm. Just stay calm. Oh, boy, am I glad to see you. She fell.

Paramedic: BP's 90/70, Pulse is steady.
Doctor: I'm Dr. Owens. Is there a relative?
Hayley: Me. I'm her daughter, Hayley Santos.
Dr. Owens: Do you know what happened?
Hayley: Yes, she fell down the stairs and she's pregnant.
Dr. Owens: How far along?
Hayley: Not far. About eight weeks. She going to be all right?
Dr. Owens: Has she complained of any cramping?
Hayley: Yeah, yes.
Dr. Owens: We'll know more after I examine her.
Arlene: Please hurry.
Hayley: It's going to be ok. Just stay calm. It's going to be ok. You're going to be fine.

Vanessa: Adam, what's going on? I was pulling in your driveway. I saw them hauling poor Arlene into an ambulance.
Adam: Not now, Vanessa. I don't have time for you.
Vanessa: Fine.

Arlene: Doctor, whatever it takes, the baby comes first.

Vanessa: Oh, bravo, my dear. Bravissima.

Dr. Owens: Let's get her to cube one. I'm sorry. I have to ask you to wait until I've finished the examination.
Hayley: Ok, Mom, I'll be right here.
Arlene: I love you, sweetie. Adam?
Adam: Right here.
Arlene: Pray for our child.

Adam: Liza. You didn't have to come.
Liza: No, I had to. I mean, it's your child. How's Arlene?
Adam: Well, the doctors are examining her now.
Liza: And the baby?
Adam: We don't know yet. What happened back there?
Liza: Arlene called me and she wanted me to come over to discuss your divorce. We were arguing and she got angry, she walked down, she picked up a bottle of vodka, said it was her only friend and she was going to go upstairs and she was going to drink herself to -- and I don't know, we -- we ended up arguing at the top of the stairs and I was trying to get the bottle away from her and it became this tug of war.
Vanessa: Well, really, physically attacking a woman in her condition? I mean, didn't you know she was pregnant?
Liza: Yes, I did. That is exactly why I didn't think she should be drinking.
Vanessa: Well, I'm sure Your intentions were very good, my dear, but look at the results. I mean, poor Arlene's in there fighting for the life of her baby.
Hayley: Can we not do this right now, please? Really, the only thing that matters is the baby. Please, please, please let it be ok.

Ryan: Actually, what I wanted to talk to you about was my startup company. You've heard about it, right?
Dimitri: Yeah, yeah, incredibledreams.com. You're positioned to go public.
Ryan: We're headed that way, exactly.
Dimitri: Making dreams come true for fun and profit. Sounds like a great idea.
Ryan: Do you like it enough to invest some capital?
Dimitri: Whoa, that depends, Ryan. What kind of numbers are we talking about?
Ryan: Well, I would like to buy out Woodruff and Greenlee. He pretty much funded phase one.
Dimitri: Partnership not working out?
Ryan: Too many strings, too many strings. So I'd like to buy out his shares and start clean.
Dimitri: And that's where I come in.
Ryan: Dimitri, I'm telling you, this company is about to take off. I've even got the suits at WRCW talking video tie-in, which is global market. If you come onboard here -- two years. I say two years your investment is tenfold, and this is what I'm thinking about.
Dimitri: Yeah, right. Whoa, slow down. You're talking faster than I can listen. I'll tell you what -- get me the last quarter reports and your fiscal projections. I'll look them over, run it by Alex, I'll get back to you.
Ryan: Beautiful.
Dimitri: Great.
Ryan: Thank you, thank you.
Dimitri: Now that we are done talking business, how about we talk about something much closer to my heart -- my cousin Gillian.
Ryan: No, no, Dimitri.
Dimitri: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Ryan, Ryan, Gillian is hurting.
Ryan: I said I don't want to talk about it.

Tad: What happened between you and Gillian?
Jake: Nothing happened.
Tad: Well, nothing? Where is she?
Jake: I don't know. She's probably with Ryan.
Tad: Ryan? Wait a minute -- just before I left, you told me your game plan was to get her back, right? That you were going to do anything you had to to come between her and Lavery. So?
Jake: Yeah, well, what's that bumper sticker? You know the one -- "Life's what happens when you're making plans."
Tad: Ok, so what happened?
Jake: Tad, like I said, nothing happened.
Tad: She just up and left you?
Jake: No, no, she didn't up and leave. She's too much of a class act for that. She wanted to stay. But I could tell that her heart wasn't really with me. And I sure as heck didn't want her sticking around feeling like she owed me something, when the fact of the matter is I owed her everything. I let her go.
Tad: Because you love her.
Jake: Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
Tad: Actually, it makes perfect sense. And for what it's worth, I'm proud of you. As far as I'm concerned, it took a lot more courage than taking that bullet, because this is the kind of wound that feels like it's never going to heal.
Jake: She loved me enough to stay. I didn't have enough to offer her to make her happy. So that is the name of that tune.
Tad: Look, this may be the last thing you want to hear right now, but Dixie's always telling me that a real test of faith is believing that everything -- everything -- happens for a reason. And if you and Gillian couldn't make it work, then maybe she just wasn't the right woman for you.
Jake: She's the only woman for me. And she's the only one I'll ever love, Tad.

Alex: Ryan has your heart, doesn't he?
Gillian: I don't know how I'm going to live without him. I love him so much, Alex.
Alex: Then you must tell him.
Gillian: I have. I tried.
Alex: So what's the problem?
Gillian: I -- I -- I can't just abandon Jake. He's so strong and so brave, but he needs me. And Ryan doesn't understand that. He -- he -- he wants me to just give myself completely to him.
Alex: And you're caught in the middle.
Gillian: I'm not going to crush Jake to be with Ryan. You know, sometimes at night when I'm lying in bed, I just -I get this cold and dark feeling that maybe Ryan and I are doomed to not be together.
Alex: No. Nonsense. You have the power to direct your life. You have to choose.
Gillian: But I want to make both men happy, Alex. Is that crazy? Or is it possible to love two men?
Alex: It is possible to love two men, yes.
Gillian: But you don't love them the same way.
Alex: Dimitri, I think, is my one great love. I needed Edmund. I -- I think we made each other happy for a time.
Gillian: How did you choose?
Alex: Well, I didn't. My heart chose. You know, a part of me will always love Edmund.
Gillian: How does he live with that?
Alex: I don't know. Guess he has no choice.
Gillian: But he still loves you.
Alex: He says he's moved on.
Gillian: Don't believe him.
Alex: Well, Edmund is so complicated. I mean, the face that he shows the world, it doesn't always reflect what's going on inside.
Gillian: Alex, at least you didn't marry him. See, I made a commitment. I made a commitment to Jake and -- and promises to love and honor and obey. And those weren't empty promises. I meant them.
Alex: Don't you think that you would honor him more if you left? What good would it have done if I'd stayed with Edmund because I felt obligated? I would've ruined three people's lives.
Gillian: Because it is more than just Jake loving me or wanting me or needing me. I don't know -- it's -- it's --
Alex: Well, doesn't Ryan need you?
Gillian: It's really complicated. I just know that I can't go on like this. I can't keep hurting everybody that I'm with. You know, maybe I should just go back home, back to Hungary.
Tad: Wait a minute. I'm not trying to disrespect Gillian, honestly. I'm just saying that I hope things work out the way they're supposed to.

Jake: You believe in fate?
Tad: Are you kidding? I've got to. Hey, look at my life with Dixie. You know, we've got to be carved in stone someplace. She went so far as to go back to Pigeon Hollow, get engaged to another guy because she felt it was time for her to be with somebody else, and that didn't happen.
Jake: So what you're saying is if Gillian and I are meant to be together, there's nothing that's going to stop us.
Tad: Sure. It's like that Sting song. You know, you love somebody, set them free. Listen, you did that, right?
Jake: Yeah.
Tad: If she comes back to you, she is yours. If she doesn't, she never was.
Jake: You know what, big brother? My life's an absolute wreck here and you're quoting Sting songs to me.
Tad: Well, it's a hell of a lot better than your bumper sticker.
Jake: So what are we here, slaves to pop culture?
Tad: No. What we are is brothers. And no matter what happens, brother, that also is set in stone. Easy.
Jake: I love you, Bro.

[Knock on door]

Jake: Oh, hey, it's open. Come on in.
Doctor: Oh, am I early?
Jake: No, you're right on time. Tad, this is Dr. Fleischmann, our new urologist here.
Tad: Hi, nice to meet you.
Jake: Working on a case together. Listen, you and the Dixie chick go out and have a great night tonight, Dr. Jake's orders.
Tad: All right. Hang in there, all right?
Jake: All right.
Tad: Nice meeting you, Doc.
Dr. Fleischmann: Good day.

Jake: Glad you came by.
Dr. Fleischmann: Jake, I have your latest test results.
Jake: Well, give me the bad news.

Hayley: I've been so excited about this baby because Arlene called to say she changed her mind. You know, Arlene said that we could adopt the baby, Mateo and me. That's why I was there in the first place -- I mean, so we could make plans and everything.
Mateo: It's a good thing you were there.
Hayley: Well, I mean, I would've been there sooner, but I -- I stopped at the jewelry store on the way. I know this sounds stupid and everything, but I wanted -- you know, I wanted to get the baby -- I wanted her to have, like, a token, you know, so she'd know that she was loved right from the start. Look, it's -- it's so cute. It's got her birthstone on it. An emerald for May. She'll be born in May. I mean -- I mean, I hope that she's born in May.
Mateo: Listen, you got to have faith, all right?
Hayley: I swear, if everything is ok after this, I am going to be Arlene's shadow. I am going to stick to her like glue. She's not going to have the opportunity to drink again.
Adam: I understand she was about to have a drink today, wasn't she?
Hayley: Yeah, apparently. And that's not going to happen again because our baby's going to be born clean and sober. Dr. Owens, how is she?
Dr. Owens: She dislocated her shoulder on the fall and I'm afraid she suffered a slight concussion. Hayley: But --
well, how is everything else?
Dr. Owens: We weren't able to save the baby.

Dr. Fleischmann: Well, the test results are about what I expected. Have you discussed the situation with your wife?
Jake: Well, we did more than discuss it. She knows that I can't make love to her.
Dr. Fleischmann: Maybe not tonight, but it's far too soon to say whether your impotence is permanent.
Jake: You know what, Sid? You don't have to sugarcoat this. I'm a doctor, same as you. Lay it on me.
Sid: It's not my practice to sugarcoat. Your condition could reverse itself on its own. Or --
Jake: Or?
Sid: There is -- there is an experimental medication that in trials looks quite promising. So, keep a positive attitude and tell your wife to be patient. There's every reason to believe you'll make love to her again.
Jake: Thanks, Doc.

Ryan: Ok, so that wasn't very cool of me, hitting you up for some capital and then losing my temper like that. I just, you know --
Dimitri: Ryan, Ryan, just -- just listen to me. The situation between you and Gillian will resolve itself if you give her the time. The bottom line is you know that she loves you.

Edmund: Hey, Chrissy. Hi. Mineral water, please.
Chrissy: Here you go, Mr. Grey.
Edmund: Thanks. Put it on my tab?
Chrissy: Mm-hmm.
Edmund: Thanks.

Dimitri: Ryan, excuse me for just a minute.
Ryan: Yeah, we'll talk tomorrow.

Dimitri: How was your workout?
Edmund: Killer.
Dimitri: Haven't seen you around lately.
Edmund: I've been busy.
Dimitri: You doing ok?
Edmund: Doing better than Ryan.
Dimitri: Yeah, you overheard, right?
Edmund: Yeah, I overheard you tell him not to give up on Gillian.
Dimitri: That's right.
Edmund: A little ironic coming from you, don't you think? I mean, she's back with her husband. I thought you all people would support that move.
Dimitri: All right, Edmund, what are we talking about here?
Edmund: Nothing that matters.

Gillian: See, if I went back to Budapest, it would be so much better for everybody. It would be hard for both Ryan and Jake, but it would be easier if I'm not here.
Alex: Running away isn't the answer.
Gillian: No?
Alex: No, it doesn't solve anything.
Gillian: Well, you know, whether I stay here or if I go, I still end up hurting people.
Alex: Well, you can't protect people from life, darling, as much as you want to. I know you have such a big heart.
Gillian: You know, sometimes I just wish I could feel nothing.
Alex: No, you don't. Love is life's biggest gift. You can't renounce it when it doesn't work out.
Gillian: But, Alex, for you there was no choice. Dimitri was the love of your life.
Alex: Edmund has given me so much that I think that we probably would have been happy together if Dimitri hadn't come back.
Gillian: But he did.
Alex: Yes, and it turned everything upside down.
Gillian: It was that way with me and Ryan. You know, while Jake was gone, we were in our own little universe. And I knew I was being unfaithful to him, but, you know, he walked out on me and I was so sure that our marriage was over.
Alex: But he came home.
Gillian: You know, I found a love letter Jake gave me, wrote to me, and I -- I read it, and he said that I was his reason for living and that leaving me was the biggest mistake of his life. And I don't want to make that mistake, so -- what do I do? Is my future with Ryan or is it with Jake?
Alex: Oh, Sweetheart.

Vanessa: Arlene, dear, how are you feeling?
Arlene: Hey. Where's Adam?
Vanessa: Outside, talking to the doctor. Well, you can drop the Camille act now.
Arlene: Vanessa, I'm in pain. I lost a baby, I hurt my shoulder. They want me to stay here for observation.
Vanessa: Well, you tripped, darling. You can sneak a few nips of the rubbing alcohol.
Arlene: You're heartless.

[Vanessa chuckles]

Vanessa: Perhaps. Maybe that's why I've lasted so long, hmm? But a word of honest advice? Don't overplay your hand with Adam.
Arlene: How'd he react to the baby being lost?
Vanessa: Same way he would react if the market were down.
Arlene: Does he think that Liza pushed me?
Vanessa: Really can't tell. You might have gotten more sympathy if you hadn't grabbed for the bottle, though. I mean, Liza can -- she can say that she was only acting in the baby's best interest.
Arlene: Yeah, well, she was ready to leave. I had to act fast.
Vanessa: Look, darling, if -- if this plan fails, I hope you have a backup because I think coming between Liza and Adam isn't going to be as easy as we thought.

Vanessa: Oh. Adam, I'm so sorry about your loss. Arlene doesn't know she's miscarried and I didn't have the heart to tell her. Of course, it's not really my place, anyway, but --

Adam: Arlene, you -- you gave us all quite a scare.
Arlene: How's the baby? Adam: I'm sorry, Arlene. The baby didn't survive.

Vanessa: Hayley, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hayley: Thank you.
Vanessa: Yes, well, I didn't know your mother that well, but I do know she was so excited about giving you a little brother or sister. You just have to be strong -- strong right now for her sake.
Hayley: You know, just when I really thought this was going to happen, I saw myself with that baby, with our baby, you know? I saw the whole thing -- in the park, first steps, first birthday party -- the whole thing. I had a whole scrapbook of memories in my mind.
Mateo: Yeah? I don't know. This might be tough to hear right now, but I don't think there was any guarantee that your mom was going to give that baby to us.
Hayley: Why do you say that?
Mateo: That baby was her last link to Adam. I mean, knowing your mother, she's not ready to sign off on that.

Arlene: I wanted this baby more than anything I've -- I even pictured her face, with my eyes and your scowl.
Adam: Hmm.
Arlene: I remember when Hayley was born. It was just like her -- red-faced and puzzled. And I remember holding her in my arms and her looking up at me like, "who the hell are you?" And then there was that little moment of recognition, of "oh, yeah, you're my mom. I picked you." I just wanted someone to look at me like that again, just one more time.
Adam: I'm sorry, Arlene. Arlene: No, no, it's not your fault. I -- I shouldn't have called Liza.
Adam: Why did you call her?
Arlene: I wanted to make peace. I asked her to put her personal feelings aside and allow you to be a father to our child. She just cursed me and the baby. I was so upset, I -- I went for the bottle. And she of course assumed the worst and went after me. I'm to blame. I shouldn't have called her. I'm sorry.

Gillian: I'm sorry.
Alex: No. So don't do anything rash. Wait. Listen to your heart.
Gillian: My heart's sending all kinds of mixed messages.
Alex: Well, then you must be still. You'll know what to do. I promise everything will work out for the greater good. You just -- maybe -- maybe there will be a sign, and then you should follow that. Now, in England, this is when we have a cup of tea.

Gillian's voice: You can't be serious.
Jake's voice do you honestly think I'd say I was letting you go if I didn't mean it?
Gillian: Jake, if you'd just let me --
Jake: Just stop it, Gillian.
Gillian: Stop what, Jake? I came here for you. I came here because I wanted to help you.
Jake: I don't want you to help me! I want you to leave!
Gillian: No, no. Jake, don't say that.
Jake: Here, take your clothes. Put on your clothes and go now. Don't be here when I get back. Do you understand?

Jake: Oh, my God, Gillian. I was wrong, I was wrong. Am I too late to get us back?

[Edmund remembers times with Alf and Dimitri]

Man: That's it. Come on, that's it. Go on, boy, take the challenge. Now, come on, give them what for! That's it! He's down for the count! The winner and still champion, Dimitri!
Young Dimitri: You go, Edmund. I've got to go change for my riding lessons.
Man: There's no gloves for you, Miss Nance. You've got to learn to fight with your bare fists. Now, come on now, give it all you've got. Oh, come on. What was that, a wisp of wind? You barely made contact -- not like master Dimitri. That boy can take you down without breaking a sweat. Bad enough he's lord of the manor. You want what he's got, you've got to suck it up and take it! Oh, cry, baby, cry, winker in your eye. Come on, boy, show me what you've got. Who's the real man around here? Is Dimitri your lord and master? Come on, get up! Show me something now! That's it, come on now! Harder!

ON THE NEXT - - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Bianca: I don't think I should be late for school the first day.
Rain: Why go to school when you don't want to?

Erica: I'm very grateful to you that you were here this morning.

Jake: I owe you an apology.

Leo: [Disguised voice] housekeeping.
