ALL MY CHILDREN

OCTOBER 1, 2001

PREVIOUSLY - - - ON ALL MY CHILDREN

Laura: I want to marry you again.
Leo: What?
Laura: I want the whole world to know how happy we are.

Erica: She's faking! This is a complete set-up!

Mateo: They want to run drugs through S.O.S. What am I going to do?

Ryan: Where's my picture?

TODAY'S - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Erica: I just wanted to leave you a message because you weren't in the house when I came down this morning. And I know that you don't have school today, so I hope you're having a fun day. And call me if you get a chance, ok? Call me if you want to. Oh -- Bianca, I'm not checking up on you. Oh, Honey. Where are you?

[Door opens]

Erica: Oh, Mr. Stamp. Did Bianca --
Chris: Well, guess you were right about her.
Erica: How dare she.

Frankie: This is the place. Where the hell is it?
Bianca: You looking for this?

David: All right, this looks fine. Just keep me up to speed on it, ok? Great. Thanks.

Leo: Hey.
David: Hey.
Leo: Could I talk to you in private for a second? I need your help.
David: Sure. Come on. Is this about money?
Leo: I wish that it was, actually, but, no. I need your help with Laura.
David: All right. What's wrong with Laura?
Leo: She's been -- every day -- I don't know. I don't know what's wrong with her.
David: Well, where is she? You want me to take a look at her?
Leo: No, it's not her heart. At least I don't think it is. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Is it -- is it possible for someone to go crazy after a heart transplant?
David: Leo, why don't you just tell me how she's acting.
Leo: Now she wants a wedding. She wants a big, public wedding with the white dress and the organ music and Vanessa in a big hat, and she wants everybody to see it. It's like -- it's like our wedding at the hospital wasn't good enough for her.
David: Well, what's so crazy about that?
Leo: Well, because she makes it like it's life or death! I'm worried about her, man. Don't you think that this is going to be too much for her to handle?
David: Too much for her, Leo? Or too much for you?

Rosa: Forget it, Teo. Forget it. You're absolutely crazy if you think I'm just going to leave.
Mateo: You're going.
Rosa: No. There is no way I'm just going to hop a plane to Texas. I have a job here, a life that I love.
Mateo: Rosa, Rosa, Rosa. You're leaving this afternoon. Your flight leaves at 4:30, So get. Go get ready.
Rosa: No.
Mateo: And you are going. Please, Rosa. Just listen to what I'm telling you.
Rosa: Why, Teo?
Mateo: Because I'm telling you!
Rosa: I know why. It's because you lied to me. You told me you trust me, and you don't.
Mateo: Oh, my -- that has nothing to do with it.
Rosa: It does. I told you that marijuana wasn't mine, and you don't believe me.
Mateo: Look, no --
Rosa: Yes, this is punishment.
Mateo: Punishment? I'm not punishing you.
Rosa: You think what happened with Marcus was my fault, don't you? And now you won't believe anything that I say.
Mateo: All right, if that's what you want to think, if that's going to make you get on that plane, fine. But please -- your flight leaves at 4:30, And you're leaving.
Rosa: I'm not going, Teo. Do you hear what I'm saying? I'm not going to do it.
Mateo: Rosa, Rosa -- you don't understand! You've got to get on that -- God! It's falling apart, man.

Edmund: What?
Mateo: What's that?
Edmund: This was outside the door.
Mateo: I was just out there five minutes ago. I didn't have any packages.
Edmund: What is it?
Mateo: Bastards.
Mateo: Look where it's from.
Edmund: El Paso? "Tough Texas drug law nabs honor student. Marissa Garcia faces a stiff mandatory sentence after a search of her high school locker revealed --"
Mateo and Edmund: "A small plastic bag of marijuana."
Edmund: Yeah.
Mateo: How'd they do that? How the hell did they do that?
Edmund: How did they do what?
Mateo: I booked a flight for Rosa to fly to el Paso less than an hour ago.
Mateo: They're listening to everything I do. They're watching me, man. They're watching --
Edmund: Hey, hey, hey. This is how he does it.
Mateo: Who?
Edmund: The drug lord I was telling you about.
Mateo: Proteus? He does this? He knows my plans an hour after I make them?
Edmund: He gets inside people's heads. He finds out what's precious to them.
Mateo: Rosa. My family.
Edmund: Exactly. And he blackmails them. And then you've got to work for him. And then you don't go to the police.
Mateo: No, no, no.
Edmund: And you don't even know who you're working for.
Mateo: I'm not working for anybody.
Edmund: Mateo, this is just the beginning.
Mateo: Are you telling me this guy Proteus is going to know my plans an hour after I make them? He's going to know everything I -- what, is he bugging my phone?

Rosa: I have to wrap this. It's a present for the baby. I promised Hayley that I'd baby-sit tonight. I'm going to bring it over then.
Mateo: Rosa, look --
Rosa: Look, Teo, I don't want to argue anymore, ok? I'm done. When does Chris get here?
Mateo: Why?
Rosa: Just answer my question.
Mateo: Tonight. Why?
Rosa: Look, you're always off in the corner talking to him, right? He's the only one that's going to convince you that I'm not a pothead. Maybe then you're going to see that, you know --
Mateo: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What does he have to do with you?
Rosa: You're always talking to him. Why can't I? What is with you, Mateo?
Mateo: You say you talk to Chris? You tell him -- you tell him things? You tell him what's going on in your life?
Rosa: Ok, so now I can't even talk to the bartender. I'm going to do this at home. I'll be back before my shift because I'm not going to go to Texas.

Mateo: It's Stamp.

Erica: Ugh, burn that thing! I don't want to see it.
Chris: Well, unfortunately, there are half a million other copies all over the country, Ms. Kane.
Erica: That is full of lies and inaccuracies. I've never read anything so full of lies and inaccuracies. I mean, she says that I had total disregard for her safety, that I called my lawyer before I even knew if she was all right.
Chris: Yeah, well, where do the lies and inaccuracies start? I mean, you did call Jackson Montgomery first, and he called the ambulance.
Erica: Because I knew that she was all right, because I could see that she was a scam artist. And I was right. She must have called Donald Steele from the emergency room.
Chris: Unless this whole thing was his idea in the first place.
Erica: Oh, no, absolutely not. Way too much work for that bottom-feeder. No, she engineered this whole thing. She is dangerous.
Chris: I believe you. I mean, if she threw herself in front of a car and walked away with hardly a scratch --
Erica: You see, that's more proof, isn't it, that she is just an acrobat. I mean, you should have seen the way she threw herself on the hood of my car. She was like a gymnast.
Chris: You know, you got to stop talking like that.
Erica: Why? I mean, you know people like this exist. I mean, in southern Italy they target tourists all the time. It's just the biggest scam there is.
Chris: Oh, you're thinking that she came all the way from old Napoli just to scam you?
Erica: No, of course I'm not. Are you saying that you don't believe me? I mean, I know that Jack didn't believe me, either. He leapt to her side right away, although Lord knows why.
Chris: He's just being a lawyer.
Erica: Well, neither you nor Jack was there, Mr. Stamp.
Chris: Look, you're preaching to the choir. Please, say no more.
Erica: Look, I saw her. I saw her. I can still remember the look on her face. It was so cold. It was so -- it was calculating. And I saw her face right before she decided to jump on my car because she saw what type of car it was, and she just leapt right onto the hood.
Chris: See, that's where you're going wrong. You have too much detail.
Erica: What are you talk-- it's the truth!
Chris: I'm not saying it's not the truth. I'm just saying you sound so calculating. You sound like it's been rehearsed, and I think it's much better if you keep your version very simple.
Erica: What are you talking about, "my version"?
Chris: Well, don't you think that sooner or later you're going to have to defend yourself? I mean, if you're right about this girl, she didn't go through this whole story just to get her mug on the picture of a magazine.
Erica: No, of course not. She's going to sue me.
Chris: What else?
Erica: Well, she's crazy if she thinks she's going to get a dime out of me because I'll demolish her. Val, will you get Samson and Ligetti on the phone for me?
Chris: Your own personal demolishers?
Erica: My in-house detectives that I keep on retainer.
Chris: Hmm.
Erica: Well, I am going to find out, you know, exactly where and when she has pulled these con acts before, and where she went to acrobat school or where she was a gymnast. What I'm going to do is I'm going to get solid proof about what a liar and what a con artist she is.
Chris: Well, that's pretty convenient having your own PI'S on call, but makes it nice and neat. Keeps everything in-house.
Erica: Val, cancel that last call.

Chris: What? Erica: Well, why should I get my in-house detectives when I already have my in-house FBI agent right here?
Chris: You're kidding, right?
Erica: Mr. Stamp, you're perfect. You were there last night. You saw this wretched girl. I don't have to bring you up to speed.
Chris: Good Lord, she's not kidding.
Erica: You can start right away, Mr. Stamp.
Chris: You seem to forget, Ms. Kane, conveniently, that I really don't work for you.
Erica: No, I know you don't work for me. This would be personal.
Chris: Personal?
Erica: Please?
Chris: You're asking me for a favor?
Erica: Yeah, I am. Look, I can handle a lawsuit, but 's my daughter who is my main concern here.
Chris: Bianca? What does she have to do with this?
Erica: Well, didn't you see how she responded to that wretched girl last night at the hospital? I mean, I can't get that out of my mind.
Chris: What are you talking about?
Erica: My daughter is -- she's got such a big heart. And she really would be such a really easy target for this con artist. Please, Mr. Stamp, if you won't do it for me, would you please -- would you do it for Bianca?

Frankie: Give me that! It's mine!
Bianca: I thought you might come back looking for it.
Frankie: What, are you stalking me?
Bianca: Well, yeah. I went to the hospital this morning to see if you'd come back looking for your belongings, and they said, "what belongings?" So, you know, I figured you'd left them here.
Frankie: I came back last night, but it was too dark. I almost --
Bianca: You almost what? Got run over?
Frankie: No. Broke my neck. The getting-run-over part happened earlier.
Bianca: You know, there's really not a scratch on you. It's kind of amazing.
Frankie: I lucked out.
Bianca: I guess so. You know what? I think maybe my mother was right about you. You are a con artist.
Frankie: Maybe? Oh, you mean you're not sure?
Bianca: She is a pretty good judge of people. And you know, she's hardly ever wrong.
Frankie: Which I guess makes it hard to admit it when she is. Hmm. So, you're cleaning up after Your mother? I'm down with it. Go ahead, you can start anytime.
Bianca: I'm sorry. Start what?
Frankie: The apology.
Bianca: I'm not going to apologize to you.
Frankie: Well, then why are you here? Oh, right -- to steal my stuff.
Bianca: I just wanted to make sure that you're all right.
Frankie: I'm great, considering. What was your name again?
Bianca: Bianca.
Frankie: Ok, now give me back my backpack.
Bianca: Now, where did you run off to last night? I mean, you went off so fast, it was like you were afraid of something.
Frankie: Me? Afraid? What's so bad about spending the night on a park bench?
Bianca: You left the hospital to sleep on a park bench?
Frankie: Does that sound weird to you? Oh, it was sweet. Cool breeze, lots of stars.
Bianca: So you do that a lot? Sleep in the park?
Frankie: Whatever. And don't tell me you looked in my bag. There's not any money in there, right?
Bianca: No, you're right. There's no money in there. But I do know that you had at least 25 cents to call Donald Steele at "The Exposer."
Frankie: Oh, the article. It came out?
Bianca: Yes, it came out. And, Frankie, I am here to tell you that what you did stinks.

Leo: Come on, man. I get enough grief from Greenlee. I don't need it from you, too.
David: Ok, Leo. So you came to me strictly for a medical opinion?
Leo: Yeah, that's all I want.
David: All right. Let Laura have her wedding if it'll make her happy.
Leo: But -- you're the one who said that she should take it easy! You know, avoid stress. Do you have any idea what an emotional strain this would be on Laura?
David: It doesn't have to be, Leo. Just make sure that it's not stressful for her, that's all.
Leo: Thank you. Gee, why don't I think of that? I'll handle everything.
David: So, I answered your question?
Leo: Yeah, yeah, you've been a real big help.
David: Come on, Leo. Why don't you just tell me what the problem is.
Leo: I've told you the problem, and you gave me your suggestion as Laura's cardiologist.
David: I just don't understand why it's such a big deal to let Laura have a splashy wedding. I mean, after all, it's just for show, isn't it? You're both married whether you have the wedding or not. Unless that's what the problem is. Do you not want to be married to Laura anymore, Leo?
Leo: I'm committed to her, and that's not going to change because it's what I want.
David: So why not show the world?
Leo: Because too many things can go wrong, that's why.
David: Like what?
Leo: I don't know! She's emotional and she's extremely jealous and she's even irrational about Greenlee and me, no matter how many times I try to reassure her.
David: Well, it's not as if you and Greenlee have a great track record.
Leo: There's nothing going on between me and Greenlee. Nothing's going to go on. But with Greenlee being Greenlee, there's, you know -- some things are out of my control, and that's why I don't want to have this big wedding.
David: So why don't you just tell Laura that you don't want to have a big wedding right now?
Leo: I would tell Laura that I don't want a big wedding right now if I knew I was dealing with a normal person, but she's not normal. She's not acting like herself. Did you know that she went to see Jake while you were gone?
David: No, I didn't. About what?
Leo: I don't know. It was all very hush-hush. Of course, I went and asked Jake about it, and he gave me the old, "Leo, are you familiar with the doctor-patient confidentiality agreement?"
David: Well, maybe Laura just wants some things kept private right now, Leo.
Leo: Yeah, but why? Why would she want that?
David: You know, a heart transplant can be a very traumatic thing.
Leo: Right. Right. So this is normal, this behavior?
David: Well, people don't always act the same after something like this happens, and Laura's on a lot of medication right now.
Leo: So it is about her heart or the medication that she's on?
David: I don't know, Leo. I'm sorry.
Leo: Oh, damn. You know, I really thought that things would be ok now. I really did, you know?
David: So, you want me to tell you that things are going to get better.
Leo: Will they?
David: If Laura's emotional problems are due to her heart transplant, yes. Yes, they will get better. But if they're about her family life --
Leo: Then she's fine. Then it's my problem and I can handle it, no matter what it takes.
David: So you're willing to make Laura happy even if it kills you?
Leo: Thank you. You've answered my questions. Thank you.
David: Why, Leo?
Leo: "Why," what?
David: You used to be such a happy guy, and now you're miserable. And I think it started when you married Laura. So why are you putting yourself through this?

Frankie: So, I called "The Exposer." Who cares? This is America. Freedom of the press.
Bianca: Oh, don't give me "freedom of the press." "The Exposer" is not the press. "The Exposer" is garbage, and Donald Steele is human garbage. And if you're working with him --
Frankie: Oh, so I'm garbage now? Oh, that hurt. Please. I've been called worse.
Bianca: Oh, big surprise.
Frankie: Listen, Donald Steele actually cared. When he called me up, he actually cared how I was doing, which was sure more than your mom did. I mean, she left me for dead.
Bianca: Left for dead, and 12 hours later a cover girl.
Frankie: A -- I'm on the cover? I haven't seen it. How do I look?
Bianca: Come to think of it, you look like you were left for dead. Wait a minute -- you said that Donald Steele called you?
Frankie: Yeah.
Bianca: You didn't call him?
Frankie: No. I never heard of the dude.
Bianca: All right. I just hope that he paid you well.
Frankie: I got a grand.
Bianca: The creep probably billed his magazine 20 times that and pocketed the rest.
Frankie: $20,000?
Bianca: Yeah. It's a story on Erica Kane on the cover. What nest did you fall out of?
Frankie: So what? I didn't do it for the cash.
Bianca: Ok, then why'd you do it?
Frankie: Because people like your mother should be exposed for what they're really like.
Bianca: That sounds an awful lot like Donald Steele talking.
Frankie: No, and that's me talking. Frankie Stone.
Bianca: Well, Frankie Stone, you'll find out what my mother is really all about when she reads your little article.
Frankie: Oh, I'm scared.
Bianca: Well, you should be. You've never seen my mom when she's mad.
Frankie: Please. I saw enough of her last night. She was all, "I'm so innocent, and this little --" come on, her real scene is with those two hunks and her posse.
Bianca: Those two hunks?
Frankie: Yeah. You know, the lawyer and that driver guy? Come on. They totally want her. Don't act like you don't know it.
Bianca: You're crazy.
Frankie: Oh, you know it. It is so obvious. Come on. It's like one of those pop-up videos. And the lawyer's pop-up goes, "oh, I'd give my left earlobe for that little heart number with big, dark eyes." And your mom's pop-up goes, "oh, I don't mind that."
Bianca: And the driver's pop-up?
Frankie: Ooh, that's X-rated. Come on, girl. You're going to start not hating me.
Bianca: I never said that I hated you.
Frankie: Whatever. Well, thanks for my backpack. See you around.
Bianca: Good luck.
Frankie: You, too.
Bianca: Hey. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you ok? You're really hurt.
Frankie: I just haven't had anything to eat.
Bianca: You haven't eaten anything?
Frankie: Where the hell do you cash a $1,000 check from "The Exposer"?
Bianca: Forget about that. Just come with me, ok?
Frankie: Yeah.
Bianca: Can you stand?
Frankie: Mm-hmm.
Bianca: Ok.

Chris: Erica Kane asking me for a personal favor? I got to say, I like it.
Erica: You do realize that I'm very serious, Mr. Stamp?
Chris: Yes, I know there's nothing more important to you in this world then your daughter.
Erica: And, look, I don't know how this happened or when, but I trust you, Mr. Stamp.
Chris: All right, ok. I'll see what I can find out on this Mary Francis kid, and not just for Bianca's sake.
Erica: Thank you. Thank you. Ok, the first thing I want you to do --
Chris: Whoa, hold it, hold it, hold it. You're going to let me do this my way, right?
Erica: Of course, of course. Naturally. You're the G-man. Thank you.
Chris: You know, the rags -- don't mind them. You see, they have to print lies because there's no way they could know the real truth.
Erica: Well, I know that I should be used to it. I say that I am, but I'm --
Chris: I had a different idea about who you were before I met you. But the woman I've gotten to know -- well, she's pretty special. Well, she's pretty special.
Erica: What do you think you know?
Chris: Well, most of the breakdown was fairly accurate. I mean, the ego, the temper, the smile and what it can do to a guy. But that's not what makes you you.
Erica: No?
Chris: The most important thing about you, Erica Kane, is when you care about someone or something, you don't hold back.
Erica: Well, what's the point of caring any other way?
Chris: You love your daughter first and foremost, and then you love this company, and you would do anything, give anything for them.
Erica: Yes. What? What are you thinking, Mr. Stamp?
Chris: Thinking?
Erica: Thinking.
Chris: I was -- I was just thinking what it would be like if -- if you felt that way for me.

Edmund: Chris Stamp is an FBI agent?
Mateo: He says he is. I mean, how do we know?
Edmund: Working here? Undercover? Bartender?
Mateo: Rick, the other bartender, gets this dream job in LA out of the blue, and here's Stamp ready to fill in. He said he had the agency pull strings for Rick to get him that job. Would the feds do that? Do they do that kind of stuff?
Edmund: They might.
Mateo: But so would Proteus, right?
Edmund: Look, what reason did Stamp give for wanting to be here?
Mateo: To go after the drug ring. That's what he said.
Edmund: Really?
Mateo: Yeah. But I'm thinking maybe he's the drug ring. Why didn't I see that before?
Edmund: Ok, we've got nothing --
Mateo: No, no, no, it all falls into place, Edmund. He was here. When the fire started, he helped me out, right? He helped me with the wiring. I mean, come on, why didn't I see this before?
Edmund: You think he started the fire?
Mateo: He could have. To make himself feel needed, you know? To get in.
Edmund: All right. What do you know about this guy?
Mateo: Nothing. He clams up every time I talk to him. He schmoozes the crowd, he knows how to talk to me, he's always talking to Hayley. Oh, man.
Edmund: What?
Mateo: He had my kid. He had my kid in his arms. I mean, if --
Edmund: Ok, ok, stay with me, all right? That doesn't mean anything.
Mateo: What are you talking about? You told me this is what Proteus does. He gets us to trust him. He gets us to tell him things.
Edmund: All right, I understand, but that's what a good bartender does.
Mateo: He's not a bartender! We know that for sure.
Edmund: Where are you going?
Mateo: I'm going to go find Stamp and I'm going to get the truth out of him.
Edmund: Mateo, where are you going?
Mateo: He can get to my wife, to my kid -- do you understand I told Stamp everything? He knows where Max goes to daycare in Texas. He knows what bus Rosa takes, where my mom does her grocery shopping. I told Stamp everything!
Edmund: All right, just -- Stamp, I don't think, is Proteus, ok? That's just my opinion. Just trust me. There's somebody else out there who knows all this personal information.
Mateo: Why? Do you know how good my life is? I can't tell Hayley this. How do I tell her this?
Edmund: You don't. You got to lie to her. You got to keep lying.
Mateo: Well, what other choice do I have? What choice do I have about anything? If I want to keep my family safe, I got to do what they want?
Edmund: That's what they're counting on -- put your family first.
Mateo: No, I can't do it. I mean, I want my -- my dad worked all his life so we could be proud of our name. What, I'm going to end up with my hands shackled behind my back on the evening news, trying to cover my face? No, I can't do that. Hayley wouldn't want that. And you know she wouldn't.
Edmund: Then what are you going to do?
Mateo: I'm not going to do it. I don't care who it is -- Proteus or Chris Stamp. Whoever -- I don't care who, I'm telling them hell, no.

Erica: I don't know what to say, Mr. Stamp.
Chris: Don't. Don't say anything. Just forget it.
Erica: Well, no, I mean, you want me to care about you.
Chris: I said forget it. I -- just forget it. I mean, see, that's another thing about you. You get a man to say something they don't mean.
Erica: Well, you did mean it.
Chris: Yes. Yes, I did mean it. You don't think it too presumptuous of me?
Erica: No. I think that it's unfair.
Chris: Unfair?
Erica: Yes, because you know a lot about me. I mean, I opened up to you, and not meaning to, but you just -- you know, you have that way about you. I mean, I guess it's your training.
Chris: It had nothing to do with my job. I was interested.
Erica: Well, you want me to care about you, Mr. Stamp, but the only things I've ever learned about you are by accident. I don't know anything about you that tells me who you really are, Christopher Stamp. Who are you?
Chris: Ok. I'll tell you.

Leo: Ok, let's get one thing straight. I don't matter right now. I'm not the one who nearly died. I'm not the one who has a new heart that could be rejected at any time, and I'm not the one who has to worry about every single new virus that hits town.
David: Leo, you're not her nurse. It was never your responsibility to keep her alive all by yourself.
Leo: Yes, it is! I want it to be! Don't you take this away from me, David! This responsibility has been the best thing that's ever happened to me, even if I'm not happy!
David: Leo --
Leo: No, my happiness doesn't matter right now!
David: But how long can you go through this, Leo? I mean, look at you. You're miserable. You're a mess. I mean, this new, heroic Leo is great, but the old one seems like it's fighting to come back. So what happens when the old one gets tired of the new St. Leo?
Leo: I don't want to go back to that. That life was a dead end, man.
David: I guess the question is, was it worse than your life with Laura?
Leo: Just forget it. I should have known better than to come to you, you know that?
David: Leo, wait.
Leo: No, I don't have prove anything to you! Or to anyone. I'm doing this because I'm making Laura's life better because I should, and because I want to.
David: Come here.
Leo: What was that for?
David: I don't know. You surprised me, that's all.
Leo: Well, you surprised the hell out of me, too. Please don't do it again.
David: I think it's great that you're trying to do the right thing. I really do. But I don't think that you should try to kill yourself in the process, Leo.
Leo: What are you saying?
David: If you want me to convince Laura that she shouldn't have a big, splashy wedding at this time, I'll give it my best shot.
Leo: Ok. But I don't want you to do anything that's going to get you in trouble, get you thrown back into jail, ok?
David: I'll just tell Laura that, as her doctor, I think that she shouldn't have a big, stressful ceremony right now.
Leo: Thank you so much.
David: Sure. It's all right. I'll get you out of this.

Erica: Who is Chris Stamp?
Chris: I'm a guy doing a job. Hell, I am the job.
Erica: But it wasn't always like that. Please, sit down.
Chris: Thank you.
Erica: You've been in love.
Chris: Yeah, but not so you'd know it.
Erica: Come on. I don't believe that for a minute. I have observed you, too, Mr. Stamp, and one thing I've noticed is that you are a very passionate man. And so I'm sure that if you loved a woman, I'm sure she would know.
Chris: Yeah, well -- I guess I've been too married too long to my badge, you know, and somebody's got to catch the bad guys, right? I have no regrets. Not often, anyway.
Erica: Just sometimes?
Chris: Sometimes. Sometimes, you know, you're on a stakeout. You got the headphones on, you're listening to Sal "The Fish" Murroni, and he's a sleaze, but he's got to come down, you know what I mean? And -- and then his phone rings, and he's calling home. And he says, "How you doing, Honey? Look, I'm getting off work early tonight, so how about I bring us some cannolis home to you and the kids? Yeah, I love you, too, Baby. Bye." And I think to myself, "what the hell am I doing here?"
Erica: So, you're looking for a girl who likes cannolis?
Chris: That, and maybe some braised pears casini, hold the brandy.
Erica: I don't recall ever telling you that I like pears casini. How in the world did you ever know that, you -- Mr. Stamp, you FBI, man, you.

[Phone rings]

Erica: Excuse me.

[Ring]

Erica: Yes? What? Yes, I'll be right there.

Chris: What's going on?

[Phone rings]

Chris: Yeah? No, no, no, no problem. Everything's right on schedule, yeah.

Edmund: Hey, you think you can say no to Proteus?
Mateo: I've done it before. I had some liquor distributors. When I owned holidays, they would try to shake me down. I told them no, and they were connected.
Edmund: Uh-huh. You had some connected liquor distributors? Proteus gives a new meaning to the word "connected," Mateo. There will not be a member of your family left standing. They would all be killed, except maybe you, so you can think about what you did.
Mateo: So, you're my family. So what am I supposed to do? Cave?
Edmund: No, of course not.
Mateo: Then what?
Edmund: I just want to tell you this so that you know what you're against, and you know so that we know what we're facing. Do you understand what I'm saying? There's no illusions here.
Mateo: Wait, wait, wait. This is me. I don't want you involved, all right?
Edmund: Shut up, Mateo. It's my turn to talk. Listen to me. You want to go after Proteus? Do you want to? We're going to have to be smarter than we've ever been. This is real dangerous, and we're going to die, probably. But we're going to try.

Erica: Bianca? Bianca? What -- what are you doing here in my daughter's bedroom?

Leo: Hey.
Laura: There you are.
David: Hey, Laura.

[Pager beeps]
David: Oh, excuse me. Great. It's a code red. I got to take off. I'll catch you two later, all right?
Laura: Sure.

Leo: Ugh -- code red. I don't even want to think about that.
Laura: Then don't. I have the best news in the world.
Leo: Yeah?
Laura: I booked the Valley Inn for our wedding. Isn't that great? One less thing to think about.

[Motorcycle approaches]

[Engine shuts off]

Ryan: What the hell?

[Phone rings]

Mateo: Hello?
Distorted voice: Are you ready to do business with us now, Mr. Santos?
Mateo: Yeah, I'm ready. What do you want me to do?

ON THE NEXT - - - ALL MY CHILDREN

Leo: You don't want to have a wedding now?

Erica: I don't want to leave you alone with her!
Bianca: Because she'll rip me off or because she might try to kiss me?

Jesse: Tad the cad. What's up with you?

Chris: I put this back.
Ryan: Why'd you steal it in the first place?
