ALL MY CHILDREN

OCTOBER 8, 1999

Dixie: What happened to you? You been running a marathon?
Tad: Just running in circles.
Dixie: You want some water?
Tad: No. Just a little oxygen. I'm fine.
Dixie: Come here. Come on. Sit. Come on.
Tad: Oh. I was out doing soccer drills in the back with the boys.
Dixie: Oh.
Tad: That Junior's something else. It's like he had the ball glued to his feet. I couldn't keep up with him.
Dixie: You didn't pull anything, did you?
Tad: Want to go upstairs and find out?
Dixie: Tad. Come on, the boys are right outside.
Tad: Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. Why couldn't we have teacher conference days when we were in school? Did Hayward call yet?
Dixie: No. Is he supposed to?
Tad: Yeah. I'm using him for that segment on "The Cutting Edge," remember?
Dixie: Oh, that's right. What is that about?
Tad: Well, it's -- you know, we got a couple of specialists coming --
Jamie: Come on, give me! Give me!
Junior: Uh -- over here. No --
Jamie: That's not fair. You're too tall.
Dixie: Oh, that's right. No fair. No fair using height as an advantage. Oh -- oh, who's got it now!
Junior: Give it to me!

[Telephone rings]

Dixie: Oh! Oh! Oh, it's over here!

[Ring]

Tad: Hey. Hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Martin Madhouse. Which nut do you want?
Adam: Hello, Tad. Adam speaking. Is Dixie available?
Tad: Yeah. Just a moment, please. Dixie?
Dixie: What?
Tad: Honey, it's Adam.
Dixie: Oh. Ok, ok, ok.
Hello, Adam. How can I help you?
Adam: Hello, Dixie. Did Junior mention anything about our day yesterday?
Dixie: No. Did something happen?
Adam: Oh, no, no. No, we had a great time, a wonderful time. We talked a good deal about the portrait that Stuart is going to paint of us. I think he's almost as excited as I am.
Dixie: I'm sure he is.
Adam: Stuart would love to see the two of us this morning for a short time, if that would be convenient. I could send George over to pick him up.
Dixie: Actually, Adam, we had kind of a day planned. I'm making the boys their favorite lunch, and Junior has soccer practice.
Adam: I won't keep him long.
Dixie: Well, that would be good because I'd really not like him to miss the chilidogs.
Adam: No, of course not. I know it's rather late notice, but it would mean a great deal to Stuart.
Dixie: Um -- what, you want to do it right away?
Adam: Yes. George will be there in 15 minutes.
Dixie: All right, all right. He'll be ready.
Adam: Yes. Good-bye.

Liza: See? You played by the rules, you got exactly what you wanted. Feels good, doesn't it? See, it works.
Adam: Oh, yes, Liza. No help from Tad Martin. You know how he answered the phone? "Martin Madhouse. Hey, which nut do you want?"
My son is being groomed to be a clown.
Liza: Well, I guess I spoke too soon.
Adam: And they're feeding him a steady diet of junk food. Well, I'm going to have a proper meal in him before I take him back there.

[Colby cries]

Liza: Oh, it's ok. Now, see? You're upsetting her. I was praising you for being so good, too.
Adam: Why is she dressed to go outside?
Liza: Because she's going with me to WRCW
Adam: I thought you were working at home today.
Liza: I am. I'm just going there for a little while.
Adam: Well, then why are you taking Colby with you?
Liza: Because it's Jake's day to be with Colby. That's why. And we're going to meet at WRCW when he gets done in the ER.
Adam: Marvelous. Shouldn't he be sleeping? What if he nods off at the wheel?
Liza: He's not going to. You see, this is why we're meeting at WRCW, so you won't make a scene.
Adam: I wouldn't make a scene. I'd be a perfect gentleman.
Liza: Uh-huh. Yeah, I can see that. Why don't you keep working on that. Be at the office if you need me. Say good-bye to Colby. Will you help me with this bag?
Adam: Good-bye, Colby. Yes.
Liza: Thank you, honey.
Adam: Bye, sweetheart. I'll look forward to seeing you when you get back. You, too.
Liza: Thank you. Kisses. Oh -- oh, are you going into the office today?
Adam: I have a little meeting with Junior first.
Liza: Oh.
Adam: George will be glad to drop you off at the studio if --
Liza: No, no, no. I'm going to drive. See you later.
Adam: Bye-bye.
[Adam looks at the soccer card her had made from Junior's picture]

Adam: He is going to flip. Just one more advantage of being Adam Chandler JR.

[Alex remembers Dimitri]

Alex: Oh, sorry. Bloody lab. I just bumped into the baked potato man. It's all right. You're all right. It's negative.
Dimitri: It worked?
Alex: Yeah.
Dimitri: It worked?
Alex: Yes.
Dimitri: Aye, aye, aye, aye. I had this terrible speech prepared, you know? I was going to go, you know, fly to Vadzel.
Alex: And ski off a cliff. I know. Well, not to be. You're going to have to make other plans now.
Dimitri: You say it really worked?
Alex: Yes. You're in remission.
Dimitri: Oh --
Alex: Sit down. The deterioration has reversed. The rogue cells are breaking down. It's excellent.
Dimitri: You did it.
Alex: Oh, God, no. He did it. And you did it. I just got lucky. I got very lucky. I'm so grateful because, you know, you do your best, and I really -- I expected this to work. But if it hadn't, I couldn't bear it.
Dimitri: Marry me.
Alex: Oh, no.
Dimitri: No, no, no. I am serious.
Alex: Just sit for a minute and breathe and know it in your bones that it worked, you're all right, you're going to live forever.
Dimitri: No. Will you marry me? I have wanted to marry you for the longest time, Alex, but I dared not ask.
Alex: Why?
Dimitri: Because I knew you would say yes and I wouldn't do that to you.
Alex: But I love you.
Dimitri: So say yes.
Alex: Why wouldn't you ask?
Dimitri: I couldn't put you through that again -- what you suffered with your father. You deserve a full and happy life.
Alex: Oh. You're so bloody noble. First Edmund and now me. You're going to protect us all?
Dimitri: If I can.
Alex: All right. I'll marry you.
Dimitri: Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Alex: Wait. Under one condition, though. I'll keep all your secrets. And I'll love you forever. You have to promise me, though, that you won't protect me from the truth, no matter how grim. Because if we do this, we're one person, and what hurts you hurts me. What gives you joy gives me joy. And that we'll be married together, for better or for worse.
Dimitri: In sickness and in health.
Alex: As long as we both shall live. That's what they meant. I won't settle for less.
Dimitri: Alex, that's exactly what you'll have

Alex: Can't even escape you here, can I?
Edmund: You mind if I sit down?
Alex: Could I possibly stop you?
Edmund: Well, I suppose you could try to have me thrown out of the country.
Alex: I can make a few calls. What are you doing here? You're following me.
Edmund: Are you flattering yourself? Actually, I'm just as surprised as you are. I come here quite often whenever I'm hungry in London.
Alex: Do you?
Edmund: Yeah. Food's good, centrally located, reasonably priced.
Alex: You sound like a commercial. That's very strange. This is where I met Dimitri on our first date.
Edmund: Oh, how romantic. Actually, Dimitri -- well, it wasn't our first date, but he took me here, too.
Alex: Oh, well, then it stands to reason. You still haven't told me what you're doing here in London.
Edmund: Besides being hungry? Well, I figured I'd just kill a little time before the --
Alex: Before the reading of the will. I mean, that's why you're here, isn't it?
Edmund: Don't you think some blood relative of Dimitri's should be here?
Alex: By all means. But why all the secrecy? You could've told me you were coming.

Dixie: All right, you guys, get on out of here. I'll see you later.
Junior: Bye, Mom.
Dixie: Have fun. Are you feeling better?
Tad: Yeah, much. Was that Adam's limo I saw in the driveway?
Dixie: Yes.
Tad: Mm-hmm.
Dixie: Junior seemed like he was in a funny mood. Did you notice?
Tad: No. Then again, I don't see anything funny about being reluctant to spend time with Daddy Dearest. Did he say something?
Dixie: Well, I asked him if something was bothering him, and he said -- just sort of shrugged it off and said no.
Tad: You didn't buy it.
Dixie: Not really.
Tad: Maybe if you think it's something serious there, maybe we should -- you know, we should look into it. You want me to have a talk with him?
Dixie: Would you? You know, like a man-to-man thing?
Tad: Yeah, I think I can work that out. Maybe a little birds and the bees thrown in there.
Dixie: Oh, you don't have to worry about that. Mommy already took care of that.
Tad: You better be careful. You're going to put him in therapy.
Dixie: Oh, honey, stop. You're just jealous because I beat you to it. You can do the birds and the bees talk with Jamie, all right?
Tad: Ok.
Dixie: You want some tea?
Tad: No. I'd rather go up and explore the mysteries of life with my beautiful wife.
Dixie: Oh. I thought you had to get back to work.
Tad: I do. But I'll arrange a getaway if you will.
Dixie: Oh, I know -- soccer practice.
Tad: Ah, yes. Thank God for soccer practice. You just give me a call at the studio when you're ready, and I'll be back before you can say, "goal!" And, honey, I like outfits.
Dixie: Oh, funny. I do, too. You wear one. Oh.

[Doorbell rings]

Dixie: Back to score another goal? Oh, I'm sorry.
David: No, that's ok. You're going to have to forgive me, though. I don't remember scoring the first time around.
Dixie: Ha-ha, Mr. Laugh.
David: Is Tad here?
Dixie: No, he's not. I'm sorry. You must missed him. He just went to WRCW.
David: All right, no problem. If it's ok, can I leave this with you? And just have him call me when he has time to discuss it, all right?
Dixie: Of course. Absolutely. You know, you want to come in? I was just about to make some tea.
David: Well, I don't want to put you to any extra trouble.
Dixie: Oh, yes. That would require me taking out two teacups, wouldn't it? And two tea bags. Oh, yes. And I'd have to pour boiling water twice. No, forget I even mentioned it.
David: Ok, all right, Wisenheimer. Yes, I'll stay. Thank you.
Dixie: Unless you have other very important things to do.
David: No. Nobody's waiting for me at the moment.
Dixie: Ok. Well, then, you make yourself at home, and I'll make the tea.
David: Yeah. Ok.

Adam: Junior. How are you?
Junior: Good. I thought I was going to Uncle Stuart's gallery.
Adam: No, change of plans. Stuart decided that he didn't need to see us today.
Junior: Well, then why did George come pick me up?
Adam: Well, we can still have our morning together, can't we?
Junior: Well, yeah, but I've got soccer practice, and Jamie and I, we're going to see "The Phantom Revenge."
Adam: Oh, well, I'll have you out in plenty of time. Here. Come on, come on. Sit down. Sit down. Now, did you show your soccer jersey to your mom?
Junior: No. You told me not to. It's still right there in my backpack.
Adam: That's my boy. Good boy. We'll show her, but later on. Right now I have something to show you.
Junior: That's me. Dad, where'd you get this?
Adam: I had it made, had it put together. It's sort of like a baseball card, except it's a soccer card. There you are on the front in your new Winchester Prep jersey, and all your stats are on the back.
Junior: Dad, this is so cool. Thanks. Hey, maybe you could make another one with my Pine Valley Patriots jersey?
Adam: Well, see, that's the second part of your surprise. Your Winchester Prep jersey is your jersey. You start there in a few days.
Junior: Wait. I don't understand.
Adam: Well, I was talking to the headmaster -- privately, personally, bragging on my son. I told him that you were the star of your soccer team.
Junior: Dad, you haven't even seen me play.
Adam: Well, I'll certainly be there to see your first game at Winchester Prep.
Junior: I can't. I mean, you said I should go for high school. You said this was all my choice.
Adam: Well -- but the headmaster was so excited about you, he couldn't wait. He said he wanted you to come up right away. I couldn't just refuse him. Son, this is quite an honor.
Junior: Yes, I know, but --
Adam: If you get up there in the next few days, you can play in their very next game.
Junior: Dad, this is just all too soon.
Adam: No, nonsense. Anything you can't pack, I'll buy you when we get there. Junior, this is a wonderful opportunity for you. And I'm very proud that you've been selected. But we have to move right away. They're not going to be able to keep that spot open for long

Liza: Yeah, ok. We'll cut them a break just this once, but next cycle they should expect to pay the regular rate. Yeah. No, no. No, no, I agree. It's worth it just to get them onboard. Thanks. No, you did a great job, Ryan. All right. Bye. Hi.

Jake: Hi. How long has she been down?
Liza: Oh, fell asleep in the car on the way here. She'll be waking up soon. Hi Gillian.
Gillian: Hi. Did Ryan just make a sale?
Liza: Yeah. He just got a client I've been trying to get for quite some time. How's your family? How's Edmund?
Gillian: We're doing fine, thank you. Alex and Edmund are in London for the reading of Dimitri's will.
Liza: Really? How long will they be gone?
Gillian: Alex is staying in London, and Edmund will be back right away, though, I think.
Liza: I see. I'm sorry to hear that. I was looking to forward to getting to know her better.
Gillian: Yeah. Grandmama and I will miss her very much, but it's probably better for Alex. There was a lot of tension between her and Edmund.
Liza: Really? Why?
Gillian: Well, Alex was riding Maximillian -- you know, Dimitri's horse -- and the horse stumbled and broke its leg. And it was really suffering, so Edmund had to put him down.
Liza: Oh. I'm sorry to hear that.

[Telephone rings]

Liza: Oh. Excuse me. Hello? Yes. Oh, Eli, yes. Oh, I'll be right there. Oh. Production. I have to go. Can you wait just five minutes?
Jake: Yeah. Take your time.
Liza: Great. I'll be right back.

Jake: Hey. I got an idea. Why don't we -- let's swing by Wildwind. We'll pick up Eugenia. I know this farm outside of town, about an hour drive. We'll go out there and eat some lunch, pick up some pumpkins. Just the four of us -- you, me, Colby, Eugenia.
Gillian: Oh. Thank you. I'm sure Grandmama would love that. Thank you for being so nice to her.
Jake: Yeah.
Gillian: Is it ok if I use the phone quickly?
Jake: Sure. I don't think she'll mind.
Gillian: Ok.
Jake: What are you doing? Huh?
Wendy: Jake. Hi.
Jake: Hey. Wendy.
Wendy: I'm very glad to see you.

Adam: Son, this is a wonderful opportunity. Why are you looking so glum about it?
Junior: I just don't want to. Besides, Mom is never going to fall for all this. I mean, and you need to get her permission, too, right?
Adam: Well, that's where you and I come in. We have to tell her about that winning soccer team and those high academic standards. And when she sees how excited you are about it, well, she'll have to say yes, right?
Junior: Yes, but I still think she's going to say no.
Adam: Oh. Dixie's a wonderful mother, but mothers have a tendency to want to sort of hold on to their sons. They don't mean to, but they want to cling to their baby boys.
Junior: Dad, I'm not a baby.
Adam: No. You know that, and I know that. Now we have to convince your mother of that.

Dixie: There we go.
David: Oh --
Dixie: Don't get up. I've got it.
David: Here.
Dixie: Thank you. Hey, do you play soccer? The boys love it.
David: No. I never really got into sports when I was a kid. I was going to be a surgeon, so I had to protect the hands, you know.
Dixie: Hmm.
David: Concentrated on piano instead.
Dixie: You play piano?
David: Mm-hmm.
Dixie: That's so romantic.
David: Hardly.
Dixie: You're making music, you know? That's not like -- I don't know -- creating a vaccine or working on the computer. You know, it expresses emotion.
David: Mm-hmm. Well, you use a different part of the brain, I'll grant you that.
Dixie: I bet your piano-playing makes your girlfriend swoon.
David: I don't have a girlfriend.
Dixie: Really? I was under the impression that you did.
David: Really? And what gave you that impression?
Dixie: Well, our conversation the other day. I mean, you -- I thought you were comparing my relationship with Tad to yours. And that's why I made a point of saying, you know, how hard Tad and I have to work at it. You know, like playing the piano.
David: Dixie, I think you're the hopeless romantic.
Dixie: Ah. I'll admit to everything but the hopeless part. But come on. You can't convince me that nothing's bothering you, and I don't mean work.
David: Actually, work is all that matters to me right now.
Dixie: David, man cannot work -- man cannot live on work alone. That's what I mean to say. Not even the mighty David Hayward.
David: Uh-huh.
Dixie: Come on. You saved my life. I owe you one. You obviously need somebody to talk to, and I'm available. I promise it won't go anywhere.
David: All right. You're right. There is someone. Was. It's no more.
Dixie: Well, what happened? Is she married or something?
David: Not at the moment.
Dixie: Well, commitment phobia? Her part? Your part?
David: You know, enough with the 20 questions. It just didn't work out, ok?

Alex: You thought I was going to cut you or your family out of the will, didn't you? And that's why you came here without telling me.
Edmund: Alex, you don't apprise me of your comings and goings, so why should I?
Alex: Oh, have it your way, Edmund. You know why I behaved the way I did.
Edmund: Yes, I do. Well, what about now? Have any more dirty little secrets?
Alex: You're about to find out. For the record, I don't want to run off with his entire estate. You can do that with my blessing.
Edmund: This is not about the money. I don't give a damn about that. You know what this is about.
Alex: Well, what?
Edmund: It's about family. It's about blood. It's about my brother wanting me to be here.
Alex: Well, so you are. Your coffee's on me. We should get a taxi -- unless the idea of sharing a cab with me is too distasteful.
Edmund: Not at all.
Alex: No, really, I can manage. I'm a big girl. I'm going to remain civil until this is over. Thankfully, the end is in sight.

Man: Alexandra, my dear, I'm so sorry.
Alex: Clive, it's good to see you again.
Clive: In such sad circumstances.
Alex: I know. Clive Garrison, I'd like to introduce Edmund Grey, Dimitri's brother. He's flown all the way from America for the reading. I would have told you sooner, but I didn't know myself.
Clive: Yes, it's good to see you, Mr. Grey.
Edmund: Mr. Garrison.
Clive: Mr. Grey rang me earlier, so I was aware of his arrival.
Alex: Oh. How very considerate. Shall we begin?
Clive: I had hoped when you and Dimitri drew up your new wills that I wouldn't be executing them for quite some time.
Alex: I know. Do you think it's possible before you read the will in its entirety you could just give us a brief overview of Dimitri's wishes?
Clive: Is that all right with you, Mr. Grey?
Edmund: That's fine.
Clive: Very well. Mr. Marick was a generous man. He made provisions to restore the fortunes and property of his great aunt, the Duchess Eugenia Andrassy, and his cousin, the Princess Gillian Andrassy. He also set up generous trust funds for his nephew and niece, Sam and Madeline Grey, and left substantial money and property to Anton and Corvina Lange Anton is his son, correct? He's made a generous bequest to Miss Peggy Moody, various small gifts to friends and -- oh, yes, a special request that his horse, Maximillian, go to a Miss Bianca Montgomery.

David: You know, I really should be going.
Dixie: I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to drive you away.
David: No, no. Why would you have that idea?
Dixie: Because you're gulping down your tea and planning your escape.
David: Yeah, look, I have to get back to the hospital. You know, I have hearts to mend, all those fun things to do.
Dixie: Come on, what happened? What, did she cheat on you? Did she ask you for a ring or something?
David: Look, I thought we finished this subject.
Dixie: You finished the subject. I haven't. Unless it's too painful for you, of course.
David: There's really nothing to talk about. We were seeing each other very briefly, we had a misunderstanding, and now it's over.
Dixie: A misunderstanding?
David: Mm-hmm.
Dixie: You don't end a relationship because of a misunderstanding. If somebody makes your heart beat a little faster, you do whatever you can to see it through. You don't run at the first sign of difficulty.
David: Well, maybe I've simply lost interest.
Dixie: If you had, you wouldn't be so bothered. Maybe it's time for my brilliant cardiologist to engage the other part of his brain for a while.
Junior: Hey, Mom.
Jamie: Junior's home.
Dixie: Hey.
Junior: Hey, Dr. Hayward. Is everything ok?
David: Yeah. Oh, everything fine, Junior. Yeah. How you doing? So, I hear you're quite the soccer player.
Junior: Yeah.
Dixie: Well, I'm just going to walk the doctor out. Then I'm going to come back and make lunch. You guys wash up your hands, will you? And don't knock over my tea tray.
Jamie: We won't.

Jamie What's wrong with you?
Junior: This.

[Junior shows Jamie the soccer card]

Jamie: Cool!
Junior: No, it's not. It stinks. My whole life stinks.

Wendy: So, have you made reservations anywhere yet for our date?
Jake: No, I haven't yet.

[Colby fusses]

Jake: Anyplace special you're thinking about?
Wendy: Well, I thought maybe we could go to the culinary school. They're having this Tunisian cuisine night.
Jake: Right. Yeah, I'm game if you are.
Wendy: I'm definitely game.
Jake: Well, good.
Jake: Great.
Wendy: Ok.
Gillian: So, Grandmama is getting ready, and she would love that.
Jake: Good. Great, great.
Liza: Oh, there you are. You're wanted on the floor.
Wendy: Oh. I'll be right there. See you later, Jake.
Jake: Sure.
Liza: "See you later, Jake"?
Jake: Uh-huh.
Liza: Awake? Ignoring?
Jake: Ok. No.
Liza: Hi! You're awake. I missed you. Yeah. Oh, I think somebody needs a change.
Jake: Oh. Well, I'll do it.
Liza: No, no. I'll send you with a fresh baby, and then I expect a fresh baby back.
Jake: Ok. Deal.
Liza: Excuse me.
Jake: Mm-hmm.
Liza: Come on. Be right back.

Gillian: You know that I auditioned for the weather girl last year and then realized it wasn't really my cup of tea.
Jake: Yeah, weather girl is kind of a dull job, probably.
Gillian: To be quite honest, I bombed my audition.
Jake: Did you? I wonder if they still have it on tape.
Gillian: I hope not. So -- ahem -- how long have you been seeing Wendy?
Jake: Uh, Wendy. Not very long, really. I don't think it's going to amount to anything, but it's -- it's the best offer out there right now.
Gillian: Better than that physical trainer at the health club?
Jake: Why?
Gillian: Just, you know, asking. Maybe wondering if maybe you were waiting for an offer from me.
Jake: Oh, no.
Gillian: Oh, ok.
Jake: No, I'm just waiting for the right --
Tad: Where's Liza?
Jake: Hi, Tad. How are you?
Tad: Yeah, hello, hello.

Hi, Gilligan .

[Note from Sonny: Yes…Tad did say "Gilligan"…I thought I heard it during the show but wasn't sure. I decided to leave it rather than replace it with "Gillian."]

Gillian: Hi, Tad.
Tad: Good to see you. You guys are waiting for Liza?
Jake: Well, she's here. She's changing Colby right now.
Tad: Colby's here?
Jake: Mm-hmm.
Tad: Good. At least she escaped Adam for the day.
Jake: Yeah, we're going to go for a drive later. Why? Did something happen?
Tad: Uh-huh. Something tells me it's open season on the Martins. He took his best shot at Colby and that backfired on him, so now he's set his sights on Junior.
Tad: No, I can just see it. By now he's probably got the kid trussed up in knickers, you know, with his hands stuck in his vest. Real slice of life. The Prince of Darkness and Little Lord Chandler.
Liza: I heard that. What's that "Little Lord Chandler" bit?
Jake: Tad will fill you in. It's time for us to go on a drive.
Liza: Ok.
Jake: Are you ready?
Liza: Got everything?
Jake: I got it, I got it. I got it. You ready?
Liza: Gillian?
Jake: Yeah.
Liza: Ok.
Jake: Take the bag. We will be on our way, ok? Bye, everyone.
Liza: Ha a good time.
Jake: We're going to go for a drive.
Gillian: Bye-bye, Liza.
Jake: Bye.
Liza: Bye.
Gillian: Nice seeing you again, Tad.
Tad: See you later.

Liza: So, you were saying?
Tad: I think we ought to have your husband neutered.
Liza: Tad.
Tad: He's at it again, Liza. He tried to set his hooks in Colby and that got nowhere, so now he's coming after Junior.
Liza: He was a little overprotective of Colby in the beginning. He had a reason. He did. And he's been nice with Junior. I'm sure you heard he talked to Dixie this morning.
Tad: Oh, yeah. How's life on the planet denial? 24 Hours of good behavior? That doesn't mean anything. He's up to his old tricks. I know it. I just feel it in my bones.
Liza: Well, you know, that might be true. Maybe. He wants to be a father to Colby. He wants parental rights, too. He sees all this stuff going on, and he feels like he's being left out. He missed out on Hayley and Skye growing up. He's afraid of missing out on Junior growing up.
Tad: Well, his children aren't to blame for that. Did something set him off?
Liza: He heard that Skye got married and she didn't tell him, so he's feeling a little out of the loop as far as his children are concerned, you know.
Tad: Poor slob.
Liza: So you can sympathize.
Tad: No, I'm talking about the guy that married Skye. Now he's got Adam as a father-in-law.
Liza: He wants to be involved in his kids' lives. There's nothing wrong with that, Tad. He wants to be there, and Hayley just pushes him away. He thinks that the reason is because he wasn't around when she was growing up.
Tad: Oh, well, gee, it might have something to do with how he tries to control her life ever since they found one another.
Liza: Tad, maybe he's just overcompensating.
Tad: Maybe you're just making excuses.
Liza: Tad, he's made mistakes. He admits to the mistakes. He wants to be better. He wants to be involved in their lives. If you weren't so biased, maybe you could see that.
Tad: With all due respect, my friend, I think you got your head stuck in the sand.

Jamie: We'll tell my dad. He'll fix things.
Junior: He can't. He's not my real dad.
Jamie: Then what about Dixie? She's your real mom.
Junior: She can't stop him. Besides, he'll just say that she's clinging on too much or hanging on too much. And she just lost her baby. I don't want to make her feel worse.
Jamie: Then we'll have to figure something out.
Junior: I don't know what. Dad wants to leave real soon. And once I get in that school, I'm stuck.
Jamie: Why do you have to leave so soon?
Junior: They can only hold the space open for a little while longer.
Jamie: So, if you don't go, you'll be safe in a few days, right?
Junior: I guess. Dad's going to be taking me.
Jamie: Not if he can't find you.

Clive: "In witness whereof, I sign this document on the date below written, Dimitri Yakov Marick."
Alex: Thank you very much, Clive, for going over that for us.
Clive: I'm not finished. There's still the codicil.
Alex: The codicil?
Clive: It was added in the states. Perhaps Mr. Marick's American lawyer can explain it better. Biddy? Yes, has Mr. Montgomery arrived? Good. Well, send him in straightaway.
Alex: Jackson, what are you doing here?
Edmund: Hello, Jack.
Jack: Hello, all. Mr. Garrison. Alex, I'm very sorry to blindside you this way, but it is true. Dimitri amended his will.
Alex: When?
Jack: He called me to his bedside at Seaview.
Alex: But that's impossible. My husband was in a coma most of the time --
Jack: I assure you he was quite lucid when he and I spoke. It was right after his stem cell therapy
Alex: Are you telling me he called you to his hospital bed and drafted an amendment?
Jack: Yes, I am.
Edmund: Why is that so hard for you to believe?
Alex: Because it doesn't make any sense. Why would he do something like that without telling me?

Dixie's voice: If someone makes your heart beat a little faster, you do whatever you can to see it through. You don't run at the first sign of difficulty.
David's voice: Maybe I've simply lost interest.
Dixie's voice: If you had, you wouldn't be so bothered. Maybe it's time for my brilliant cardiologist to engage the other side of his brain for a little while.

David: Can I have Erica Kane's office, please? Yes, hi. This is Dr. David Hayward. I need to reach Miss Kane immediately. It's urgent. I'm her cardiologist, and I have her recent test results. She was very anxious to receive them. Dr. David Hayward. Yes, yes, that's right. So, where is she? New York City. Thank you. Would you happen to have the number for that hotel? Great.

Adam: Thanks for the soccer jersey. It was a big hit, Chauncey. Mm-hmm. We'll be there in the next few days. I hope you have a nice room set aside for my son. Good. Excellent. We'll see you then. Bye-bye.
Ah, you're back.
Liza: Yeah. Brought mounds of paperwork.
Adam: Well, I'll let you get to it, then.
Liza: No. Could you wait?
Adam: What is it, darling?
Liza: I talked to Tad. He feels like you're trying to destroy his relationship with Junior, that you're asserting your parental rights because you're feeling threatened.
Adam: That's nonsense. The man is paranoid. Has he upset you with his ravings?
Liza: No. I assured him that you're not trying to control Junior or make some of the same mistakes that you made in the past. But he's going to have to see for himself, don't you think?
Adam: What do you mean by that?
Liza: Your behavior will convince him that you're on the level.
Adam: Ah. Huh.

Tad: Honey?
Dixie: Hey. What are you doing home so soon?
Tad: Couldn't concentrate. Where are the boys?
Dixie: Junior is at soccer practice. Jamie is at Brooke's. Later we're going to go to the movies. Do you want to go? Hello? What's wrong?
Tad: Oh, well, I can't shake this feeling I've got about Adam. I talked to Liza, but she gave me her standard defense. What's this? You see this?
Dixie: No. What is it?
Tad: It's a note.
"Dear Tad -- Mom always says I can go to you if I'm ever in trouble, only this time I can't because nobody can stop my dad. So I've got to go for a while. Take care of mom and don't let her get upset. Love, Junior."

Jack: I can only speculate as to why Dimitri demanded secrecy regarding this.
Alex: Well, speculate away.
Jack: I believe, Alexandra, that he thought you would object to this amendment to the will.
Alex: Why would I object?
Jack: Because this codicil concerns you. In fact, it could change your life.
