ALL MY CHILDREN

SEPTEMBER 11, 2000

Mateo: Only you, Dimitri, could pull something like this off.
Hayley: I can't believe I'm looking at you, I'm touching you.
Dimitri: Ok, listen, everyone. The details of all of this will come later. Right now I just want us to celebrate
. Hayley: Oh, welcome home! I can't believe you're home.
Brooke: Is this for good, I hope?
Dimitri: Well, I plan to stay around for a long time, yeah.
Brooke: So you're ok? I mean, even though you're still being treated.
Dimitri: If I am lucky, Brooke, you will see me in the next century.
Hayley: Well, Gillian must be over the top.
Eugenia: Oh, she's absolutely ecstatic that her beloved Dimitri is back home.
Brooke: I don't want to be obnoxious, but I will. Is this too soon -- all right, is this too soon for an exclusive for "Tempo"?
Dimitri: Brooke, thank you. We just want to keep it quiet for now -- friends and family.
Alex: Yeah, that's why we asked you around here -- so we could tell you ourselves.
Dimitri: Yeah, we wanted to share our happiness with you. Alex and I have been given another chance at life together.
Alex: I know, I know. This is so -- I just celebrated being engaged to Edmund.
Brooke: How is he?
Al: Well, it's been difficult, obviously.
Hayley: As happy as we are for you, we can't help but --
Mateo: And he respects the vows you two made to each other?
Alex: Yes.
Dimitri: Yes, Mateo, I think he does.
Mateo: I wouldn't expect anything less from him.
Brooke: Where is he?
Alex: We don't know.

[Muffled thump]

Arlene: Go away.

[Thump]

Arlene: Winifred, stop it.

[Thump]

Arlene: Winnie, give it a rest! I gave Winnie the day off. Wait -- oh, no. Oh, no, Stuart's still in the attic.

Marian: Ow! Oh! Oh. Oh, my gosh. Oh, jeez. Oh, my gosh.
Stuart: Are you all right?
Marian: Yes, I'm all right. I'm ok, I'm ok. It's going to -- ooh, it's just -- oh, boy. Oh, boy. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Stuart. I'm just exhausted.
Stuart: Yeah. You're doing a really nice job.
Marian: I'm not doing good enough because somebody should have heard us by now. Ooh.
Stuart: Winifred will get us out.
Marian: Oh, when?
Stuart: Oh, well, she -- she sometimes comes up here a couple times a week to store stuff.
Marian: Sometimes? I can't wait that long, Stuart. Shouldn't we bang on the bathroom pipes or something?
Stuart: That's a good idea.
Marian: Oh, my darling, I've got to tell you, I'd rather be stuck up here in a drafty old attic with you than in a fancy palazzo without you.
Stuart: You are never going to be alone again, I promise.
Marian: And I hate to admit it, but I think Adam needs you as much as I need you, darling.
Stuart: Yeah. Ok, I got to work on that door again.
Marian: Oh, jeez.
Stuart: I've got to save him from Arlene!
Marian: Well, you're going to have to save Arlene from me first. I mean, she tried to kill you. Then she tried to keep us apart. I mean, I just can't wait to get my hands on that lying, booze-marinated neck of hers.

Arlene: Oh, my God. Marian.

Stuart: This isn't working. Oh. What's gotten into Adam? He's done some strange things in his life, but to marry Arlene? He must be really confused.
Marian: Oh, no, no, my darling. He knew exactly what he was doing. Exactly.
Stuart: But he loves Liza. He will always love Liza.

[Marian sighs]

Arlene: Why does God hate me?

[Doorbell rings]

Arlene: Oh, what now?

[Arlene sighs]

Arlene: Oh, go away.
Liza: Is this the latest in cocktail wear so you don't spill?
Arlene: Get out.
Liza: Where's my mother?
[Thumping]

Adam: What was that?

[Thumping]

Liza: Yes, Tad! Yes!
Arlene: My, my, my. I didn't know she had it in her.
Adam: Oh. Col-mar tower. I swear I will bring down Col-Mar Tower, and Liza and Tad with it!

Adam: What are you doing here?
Frank: I check on the sit every day, especially during a work stoppage. You know, if you don't keep an eye out, things get stolen, vagrants move in.
Adam: How conscientious.
Frank: I spoke with your wife about a little bonus for services rendered.
Adam: Usually she's the one that charges.
Frank: Hey, I called in some favors to get that meeting of Tad and Liza's in New York canceled.
Adam: You know, you're lucky you've got a job. They both got there, and the thing was a damn fiasco. So, I took matters into my own hands.
Frank: Yeah, I can see that.
Adam: I modified the electrical panel.
Frank: You what? What?
Frank: God. Are you nuts? You have any idea what you've just done?
Adam: Yeah, I think I have effectively crippled the tower's electrical system.
Frank: You've done a lot more than that, pal. You've also created a floating ground situation.
Adam: In English?
Frank: There's live juice in those wires, and now that they're damaged, we've got the potential for a hell of a good fire here.
Adam: I don't smell any smoke.
Frank: Well, you wouldn't yet. The fire starts from behind the relay box. It creeps up through the walls. The joists get so hot, they melt. The walls of this building could come crashing down without hardly any warning.
Adam: Well, what a pity.
Frank: When did you do this?
Adam: Last night.
Frank: Damn. All right, well, I got to call the electrician, see if something can be done about this. But in the meantime, this building is closed as of now. Come on.
Adam: No, I want to see the show.
Frank: Oh, and wind up char-broiled? Not on my watch. Come on, let's go.
Adam: Hey. No --
Frank: Hey! What part of this didn't you get? We have got to get the hell out of this building now.

Alex: So, Edmund walked into the Hunting Lodge when we were there together, and I guess he needed some time alone.
Brooke: You haven't seen him since?
Dimitri: No, no. And right now, my return doesn't seem to be a reason for him to celebrate. I think we have a lot of work ahead of us.
Hayley: Well, I mean, if there's anything we can do to help --
Dimitri: Always going to need your support, so as friends, please give it to him.
Alex: It's been very traumatic.
Brooke: Yes. Listen, but there's no denying this man is a miracle.
Alex: I don't want Edmund to suffer, though.
Brooke: We'll take care of him.
Mateo: You can count oh Hayley and me.
Hayley: Yeah, anything he needs.
Mateo: We'd better go.
Hayley: Yeah, we have to go.
Brooke: Oh. Ok.
Hayley: Welcome home.
Dimitri: Thank you. Mateo: And when you feel up to it, please, come by -- come by the bar, ok?
Dimitri: All right.
Hayley: And don't worry. Everything's going to be ok. Bye, everybody.
Brooke: Bye.

Hayley: I can start breathing again.
Mateo: I'm in shock. I mean --
Hayley: I -- I don't - I don't know what to feel. I mean, I feel thrilled for Dimitri and devastated for Edmund.
Mateo: I mean, you know, he never will get over Maria, ever. And he finally fell in love, and now -- I mean, how is he going to get through this?

Arlene: How the hell should I know where Marian is?
Liza: Scott said she didn't come home last night.
Arlene: Well, maybe she's finding comfort in another man's arms. Sound familiar?
Liza: She was actually looking for some things that belonged to Stuart.
Arlene: So go to the gallery.
Liza: No, some personal items that had to do with his childhood. I thought she might have come here.
Arlene: Oh, she wants to sleep with the old guy's teddy, huh? She's losing it.
Liza: Yeah. I agree with you there. She is seeing a psychic who says he can reach Stuart in the great beyond if he has something personal of Stuart's, something that will maintain a personal connection.
Arlene: I didn't know she was Into that. [Thumping]

Liza: What was that?
Arlene: Stuart. He's trying to contact us from the great beyond.
Liza: Oh you know, can it, Arlene. I'm just trying to find my mother.
Arlene: Oh, you know what? I forgot -- she was here yesterday.

[Thump]

Liza: What is going on here?
Arlene: It's just workmen putting in new insulation.
Liza: Well, when was she here? When did she leave?
Arlene: I don't know. I don't keep a visitors' log. She was here yesterday afternoon. She said something about going to Pigeon Hole.
Liza: Pigeon Hollow?
Arlene: Whatever. You know, here's Marian trying to contact her Stuey from the great beyond. That's real, real love. It's not that wrestling match that you and Adam called a marriage.
Liza: Well, you know, you and Adam -- all you have in common is booze.
Arlene: And great sex.
Liza: Well, maybe, but you're just using each other.
Arlene: That's not like using another woman's man.
Liza: You know, I don't need any lectures from someone who slept with her future son-in-law on their wedding night.
Arlene: Don't you try to change the subject. Adam and I heard you and Tad getting it on last night.
Liza: How could you? I was in New York.
Arlene: We were in the next room. The walls were paper-thin.
Liza: You heard us?
Arlene: Down to the afterglow. And there was poor Dixie, believing in true love while you were getting it on with her husband. What kind of woman are you, Liza?
Liza: And where's Adam?
Arlene: I don't know. After he heard the ruckus, he went ballistic and took off.
Liza: He did?
Arlene: Yeah, don't you get any ideas. He wasn't jealous. He's not in love with you. He wants to destroy you -- you and Tad and that -- that Mar-Col Tower of yours.
Liza: Col-Mar.
Arlene: Whatever. You know, that tower, you're using it to humiliate him and show the world that you've won and he's lost. Well, he's not a loser, and I'm not one, either.

[Telephone rings]

Liza: Liza Colby.
Frank: It's Frank,
returning your call. Liza: Where are you?
Frank: The Valley Inn bar. Look, we should talk about something that's come up at the Col-Mar Tower.
Liza: I'm on my way.

Arlene: Ooh, another tryst so soon? Slut.

Adam: To the rise and fall of Col-Mar Tower!
Adam: Sorry, Liza.

Marian: I'm starving. We've got to get out of here.
Stuart: I got it.
Marian: What? What is it?
Stuart: Candy bars.
Marian: Candy bars!
Stuart: Oh, I hope you don't mind. They're a little smooshed.
Marian: Oh, darling, they're more wonderful than Beluga.
Stuart: Is it ok that they're a little melted?
Marian: No, I could eat them with the wrapper on -- are you kidding?
Stuart: There you go.
Marian: Mmm, mmm. Oh, boy. Wait till you taste this. Mmm. Mmm, it's divine. Mmm.
Stuart: Yummy.
Marian: Mm-hmm.

Arlene: Come on, Adam, pick up. Where have you been?
Adam: Not now, Arlene.
Arlene: No, I want some explaining. I want an apology right now.
Adam: An apology for what?
Arlene: For what? You practically choked the life out of me last night.
Adam: I thought you liked it rough.
Arlene: Yeah, I like it kinky, but there are limits.
Adam: Be grateful I didn't kill you.
Arlene: Look, Sweetie, I'm sorry. I was worried about you. You stormed out of that hotel room last night, gone for hours. Anything could have happened to you.
Adam: Yeah, well, it didn't, did it? You're still here.
Arlene: Would you like it if I poured you a nice bubble bath? Give you a foot massage, a snifter of brandy -- would you like that?
Adam: Stop fussing.
Arlene: I just want to take care of you. I'm your wife.
Adam: My wife? You're my curse.
Arlene: You know, I try to do everything for you. I'd do anything, and you just treat me like dirt. I am better than that Liza, that precious Liza --
Adam: Don't.
Arlene: You heard her last night. She was getting off with that Tad. I mean, she's nothing but a slut.
Adam: If you value your life, you won't mention Liza's name again.

Liza: Hi.
Frank: Oh, hi. Hey, I heard about that New York meeting. That's tough luck. Did you manage to get that rescheduled?
Liza: You know, really -- I don't really want to talk about it. I mean, I'm getting another list of companies. Actually, Pam's getting me the list, so --
Frank: But this company is the best, you know. There's no one installs elevators as good as Alliance.
Liza: Well, you know what? It would be nice if they actually showed up for their meetings. I don't really want to talk about elevators, Frank. I want to hear about some progress, please.
Frank: Well, actually, we have another problem, anyway, to fix before we move on to installing elevators.
Liza: What is going on now? We're already weeks behind schedule. What is it?
Frank: I'll spare you the complicated jargon --
Liza: No, you know what? Why don't you just handle the boy talk and give me that. I can deal with that. What is it?
Frank: The electrical system's been compromised by a floating ground problem.
Liza: What are you doing about it?
Frank: As of now, I've closed down the job site until I get an electrician's report.
Liza: Well, how far is this going to set us back?
Frank: Days, weeks. I mean, at this point it's really hard to say.
Liza: My God. This is -- this is unbelievable. This project, it's doomed. It's been a problem from the get-go.
Frank: Hey --
Liza: It has. It's been ridiculous.
Frank: It's not that bad.
Liza: It is that bad.

Hayley: Did you see that?
Mateo: Yeah, isn't that the guy that your mom was cozy with last night?

Frank: Look, stuff happens. I'm only the contractor.

Hayley: Yeah. What's Liza doing with him?

Brooke: Well, I wonder what's going through Edmund's mind.
Dimitri: I know, I know. Brooke, we're brothers. We've been through the worst and the best of it. Nothing can break our bond.
Brooke: I hope you're right.
Dimitri: Well, when we work through this, I know that Edmund will understand that it was meant to be.
Brooke: You know, I don't want you to take this the wrong way because I know the most important thing to Edmund is that you've gotten through everything and that you're alive, but at the same time, you know, Alex is the first woman he's let himself dare to fall in love with since Maria. And then he gets his heart handed to him by you? You know, I mean, he loves you, but he's also felt like you have overshadowed him his whole life. How is he going to cope with this?
Dimitri: I don't have any easy answers, Brooke.
Brooke: I know.
Dimitri: And I think it'll take some time for him to come around.
Brooke: I wouldn't count on his mellowing because of age.
Alex: We mustn't forget that Edmund is a man of immense love and wisdom, and I think that we should have faith in him.
Eugenia: Yes, poor Edmund. But we're here to celebrate Dimitri. Beloved Dimitri. He's risen like a Phoenix. In fact, our whole family will be together again. I'm immensely grateful for that.
Brooke: You're absolutely right, Eugenia. I wish you both all the happiness in the world. I do.
Eugenia: Here's to love, to miracles.

Brooke: Edmund, you're just in time. We're celebrating Dimitri's extraordinary recovery.
Edmund: My brother never ceases to amaze.
Eugenia: Oh, please, darling, have some champagne?
Edmund: No, thanks. I'm fine, Eugenia.
Alex: Where have you been?
Edmund: Oh, I took a drive and walked on the beach.
Dimitri: We were worried.

Edmund: Can I see you for a minute alone, Alex?
Alex: Yeah.
Edmund: I want to ask you a favor.
Alex: Anything.
Edmund: You're not really in a position for anything.
Alex: No, I'm not. I'm sorry. This is so difficult.
Edmund: Alex, I don't want pity.
Alex: I know you don't.
Edmund: I need to ask you -- I need to tell Sam and Maddie what's happened, and I figured I'd like you to join me.
Alex: Has to be done very carefully.
Edmund: Yeah. Ahem. I figured it would be easier for them if -- if we told them together.
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Edmund: Will you help me?
Alex: Yeah.
Edmund: Ok. I want to make it clear to them -- I need for them to understand that what happened -- that your feelings for them haven't changed, ok? Ok. Because, you know, Maddie loves your tea parties. Sam, he just can't go to bed now without you reading him a story, so -- so I hope those things can continue for the children's sake.
Alex: Yes, they will continue. I'd like that. And of course, I will help you talk to them.
Edmund: Thank you.
Alex: I don't want them to be hurt because of what's happened. There's been enough pain anyway. Neither of us expected this to happen. Did we? Edmund, thank you for trying to accept it.

Frank: I should have a report on the electrical soon.
Liza: Ok, well, keep me posted.
Frank: Now, don't worry. I'll have this whole thing under control before you know it, all right?
Liza: Contractors.

[Liza sighs]

Hayley: Who's that guy?
Liza: Contractor for the Col-Mar building, the most cursed building in the 21st century.
Hayley: Small world.

[Liza sighs]

Liza: What do you mean?
Hayley: Mateo and I saw Arlene working her mojo on him last night.
Liza: Are you sure?
Hayley: Absolutely.
Mateo: Yep. They looked like they knew each other pretty well.
Liza: I don't believe that.
Hayley: What, you don't think my mom's capable of messing around?
Liza: No, I mean, I just -- I -- I mean, I think that might be too much, even for Adam.
Mateo: What do you mean? What's Adam got to do with it?
Liza: Well, the building. I mean, we've been thinking that it's cursed, but maybe it's Adam and Lady McBooze hatching some sort of plan with Frank to sabotage my building.
Mateo: That's a little extreme, don't you think?
Hayley: Not for Adam.
Liza: Look, I just saw Arlene. She was hung over. She didn't even know what she was saying, and she let it slip that all Adam wants to do is destroy that building. I mean, I let it go, but --
Hayley: I thought Adam was through with caring about Chandler Enterprises.
Mateo: Well, it wouldn't be the first time he bluffed.
Liza: You know what? Maybe Adam and Arlene are hatching some sort of revenge scheme.
Hayley: I knew that seedy bar shtick was too bad to be true.
Mateo: Where are you going?
Hayley: I'm going to my dad's house.
Liza: But he's not there. Arlene doesn't even know where he is.
Hayley: Well, that explains what she was ranting and raving about last night. She was in a panic to find him. If he's still gone today, she must have ticked him off pretty good.
Liza: That might have been me.
Mateo: You?
Liza: Yeah. I was an idiot. I tried to make him jealous.
Hayley: What did you do? Never mind. I don't want to know.
Liza: Oh, I just did something, and I think I might have pushed it too far. I mean, my God, I hope I didn't because -- you know, I should really go to the Tower.
Hayley: You think he's there?
Liza: Well, it seems to symbolize everything he hates about me and Tad, according to Arlene, at least.
Mateo: Well, do you think you should go by yourself? Maybe I should come with you, you know.
Liza: Thanks, but I think I need to see Adam alone.
Hayley: Good luck. Well, I'm going to my dad's house. I'm going to look my mother into her beady little hung-over, bloodshot eyes and find out exactly what's going on. You want to come with me?
Mateo: Yeah, just let me get a chip. I -- I wanted to eat -- well, all right.

Marian: Oy. Decades of hoarding and years of junk in this attic and not one thing to help us get out of here.
Stuart: Ah!
Marian: Did you find something?
Stuart: I sure did.
Marian: What is it?
Stuart: Oh! It's my pig. See this little squirrel? It used to eat out of my hand. Right out of my hand.
Marian: You did these?
Stuart: Yeah, yeah. Way back. It was one of the first things I ever drew. My mom used to throw them away, said they were just cluttering the place up. And Adam would pull them out of the trash and hide them away somewhere. He said it was his private gallery.
Marian: Oh, Stuart, these are beautiful. We should frame these.
Stuart: Adam saved all of these all this time. Adam's always believed in me. I got to -- I got to get out of here to show him I still believe in him.

Arlene: Where are you going?
Adam: To hell! No, I forgot. I'm already there.
Arlene: Wait, I --
Adam: I'm leaving!
Arlene: You're leaving?
Adam: I'm leaving. I've done what I set out to do, and I'm leaving.
Arlene: I don't understand.
Adam: I made sure the Col-Mar Tower will never open.
Arlene: Well, how'd you do that?
Adam: Don't worry about it. Just have yourself another drink. Meanwhile, I'm going to pack my bags and get the hell out of here.
Arlene: You're packing?
Adam: Yes. If you need me, I'll be in the attic getting the biggest suitcase I can find.
Arlene: No, no, no. No, you can't.

Alex: I'm going to help Edmund tell Sam and Maddie that we're not getting married.
Dimitri: I think that -- I think that's for the best.
Edmund: They've had enough upheaval in their lives. I don't want them hurt.
Dimitri: Alex will still be in their lives, Edmund.
Edmund: It's been discussed.

Brooke: I have to leave. I promised Jamie a pizza with the works tonight.
Eugenia: Thank you for joining our celebration.
Brooke: Oh, thank you for including me. And you take care of yourself, ok?
Dimitri: Thank you.
Brooke: You know, a cat only has nine lives. I'm happy for you.
Alex: Thank you.
Brooke: Ok.
Edmund: I'll walk you out.
Brooke: Ok. Take care, everybody.

Brooke: Are you ok?
Edmund: Sure.
Brooke: You seem so calm.
Edmund: Yeah, well, I wasn't calm when I found Dimitri and Alex. It seemed like -- ahem -- what Alex and I had didn't -- didn't exist.
Brooke: Oh, Edmund, that's not true. What you had with Alex was real. It's not fair.
Edmund: Life isn't fair.
Brooke: I don't know how you can be so sane.
Edmund: It's simple. Survival. Alf's abuse, Maria's death, Dimitri's death, rebirth, and now this -- Alex, you know. It's just -- survival's what I do best.
Brooke: I don't know where you're finding the strength.
Edmund: Oh, I don't know, either. Probably Alf, you know. He taught me to be strong.
Brooke: He beat it into you. You know, it's ok, Edmund. It's ok to let yourself feel bad.
Edmund: I feel -- I feel fine, Brooke.
Brooke: Call me, all right? Anytime. You don't have to go through this alone.
Edmund: Ok. Thanks. Better clean up. I look a mess. It'll scare the kids.
Brooke: Ok.
Edmund: Ok.

Adam: Arlene, let go of me.
Arlene: No, no. We can't stop now. We're so close we can smell the money.
Adam: Oh, spare me the pep talk, all right?
Arlene: No, everything's going exactly as planned. The tower is just the beginning, Adam.
Adam: Arlene, Arlene, listen to me. It's over.
Arlene: Yeah, but what about our plans? Come on. I mean, all those hours in that trashy bar are finally paying off. We're getting exactly what we wanted. You're going to be the head of Chandler Enterprises, and I'll be by your side.
Adam: No, that's your fantasy! That's not mine!
Arlene: No, it's you and me together!
Adam: Ha! Arlene, try to catch up. I played you just like I played everyone else. Except you were the easiest one of all. All I had to do was pour a little liquor down your throat and give you a couple of rolls in the sack, and you'll believe anything.
Arlene: Hey. You don't mean that.
Adam: I don't mean much of what I've said lately, but I do mean that. I don't want the company and I don't want you!
Arlene: No, you're just upset after what happened in New York, that's all.
Adam: What I wanted was revenge. I got it.
Arlene: Yeah, but -- but what about me?
Adam: All right, I admit I couldn't have done it without you. But it's over. I don't need you anymore.
Arlene: But I'm your wife. I mean, what about our future?
Adam: Arlene, what did you think was going to happen? Did you think I was going to fall in love with you and we were going to grow old together? You were a prop, just like everyone else. Don't start blubbering. You're going to be well compensated -- money, Arlene. Money, that's what you wanted, wasn't it?
Arlene: I want you.
Adam: Oh, that's pathetic.

Hayley: Oh -- Dad.
Adam: Go away.
Hayley: You don't even know why we're here.
Adam: I don't need to know. Just -- I want you to leave.
Hayley: Not until we clear a few things up first.
Arlene: I'm not needed here.
Adam: Well, should I put on a Kevlar vest?
Hayley: Are you and that woman sabotaging Col-Mar Towers?
Adam: Don't be ridiculous. Your mother and I are much too busy running our tavern.
Mateo: Yeah, well, Arlene has enough time to get in thick with the contractor.
Adam: Yeah, well, Arlene loves to get in thick with men. It's her life's work.
Hayley: Yeah, but Liza seems to think that you put Arlene up to it this time -- that both of you are sabotaging the construction site.
Adam: Huh.
Mateo: Yeah, she's actually gone there looking for you.
Adam: She's -- what, she's gone to the construction site?
Mateo: Yeah, the tower.
Adam: Oh, my God. The building's going to collapse!
Hayley: Oh, my God. Go, go, go!

Liza: Adam? Are you here?
Liza: Where are you? And what are you up to?

[Alex sighs]

Alex: What a day.
Dimitri: Hmm?
Alex: What a day.
Dimitri: How are you holding up?
Alex: Better now, now that Edmund's back. Better.
Dimitri: Well, we know he's suffering, but Edmund is an extraordinary man.
Alex: Do you think he's going to be all right? Really, do you?
Dimitri: Alex, I believe in my brother more than anyone I've ever known except for maybe you. I just wish to God that I had handled things differently.
Alex: I know. But it's -- it's done now.
Dimitri: Yeah. If we trust in our love -- and his -- we're going to get through this.
Alex: I wish we could just jump forward and put all this behind us. This --
Dimitri: Well, that's sort of odd because I want to savor every second of the present. Do you realize that this will be our first autumn together? So, that means we've got the leaves to pick up and sort out --
Alex: Horses to ride.
Dimitri: Let's do it.
Alex: What, now?
Dimitri: Yeah.
Alex: Ride?
Dimitri: Yeah.
Alex: You want to?
Dimitri: It'll clear our heads, put some color back into those cheeks.
Alex: Oh, I don't know. It has to be a short ride. I don't want to wear you out.
Dimitri: Well, that's exactly what I want you to do. Later.
Alex: Count on it. All right, I'll see to the horses.
Dimitri: All right. Alex: You be good.
Dimitri: Hurry, now.

Arlene: Adam? Hayley? Where did they go?

Stuart: Oh!
Marian: Stuart, Stuart.
Stuart: My brother needs me, and I'm stuck in this stupid attic!
Marian: Darling, darling, listen to me. We'll find a way out of here tomorrow. I'm sure of it, ok? I'm sure of it. Come over -- come here.
Stuart: Tomorrow feels too late.
Marian: Darling, nothing is going to be too late, ok? I think we have to lie down now for a little while, get some rest, ok? And then in the morning, one of the servants will hear us. We'll make a huge racket, and we'll get out in time for a huge breakfast. How does that sound to you, huh?
Stuart: I don't know. Something's not right. I can feel it.
Marian: Darling, now that you're home, everything's going to be all right, I promise you. I promise you.

Liza: Adam?

[Liza sighs]

Adam: Liza! Are you here? Liza.
Liza: You know, the old Adam never would have left incriminating evidence at the scene of a -- you know, do you smell something burning?
Adam: Liza, we have to get out of here right now.
Liza: No, this is my building. I don't have to go anywhere.
Adam: Liza, we have to leave now!
Liza: I know that you'd like to get home to the little woman, but I'd like some answers. What have you done?
Adam: Anything, but not here.
Liza: Because I know that you're sabotaging my building and you're masterminding all these delays. I know it. Admit it.
Adam: I admit it!
Liza: You do?
