ALL MY CHILDREN

SEPTEMBER 20, 2001

PREVIOUSLY - - - - ON ALL MY CHILDREN

Leo: You think that I want to get back together with you?
Greenlee: Isn't that what you're talking about?
Leo: No, Greenlee, that's not what I'm talking about. That's not the solution. That's the problem.

[Phone rings]

Leo: Leo du Pres.
Laura: Can you come home?
Leo: Yeah, I'll be right there.

Anna: I'm not staying here to whine about my problems. to some shrink all night.
David: Excuse me. I can sign your release papers.

Greenlee: Go away, Daddy.
Roger: Greenlee, if you're in a bad place, let me help you out of it.
Greenlee: You can't help me, Daddy.
Roger: I can try.
Greenlee: You don't even have a clue. Even if you did, you'd be wasting your time.
Roger: I know my track record is lousy. I just hate to see you hurting. Greenlee -- who did this to you?

Laura: No, Leo, you're so wrong. I don't think you're a kept anything.
Leo: Right. You call me home from work in the middle of the day. I drive here like a maniac, running red lights, scared half to death that you're having another heart thing, Laura.
Laura: I'm so sorry I scared you.
Leo: And what was the crisis? Why did I blow off work? Because you had a little fight with your girlfriend.
Laura: And so, what, Leo, you're upset you didn't find me dead on the floor?
Leo: That's not what this is.
Laura: That's what it sounds like.
Leo: Look, don't try to turn this back on me, Laura. You're the one that messed up.
Laura: I was wrecked. I needed you.
Leo: Well, you made it sound a little bit too serious. I can't just drop everything every time you have one of your little mini meltdowns, Laura.
Laura: No, no, Bianca is my best friend.
Leo: Then you're going to have to solve it with Bianca because I'm not on call for you 24/7 to cater to whatever your --
Laura: My what, Leo? What if I really was in trouble?
Leo: Then I would be here right away. You know that. But I have a job that pays the rent and keeps the fridge stocked, Laura. I can't just clock out whenever you snap your fingers.
Laura: But my mom understands.
Leo: Your mom is my boss. I don't want her playing "my favorite son-in-law" at the office. I want to make this job work on my own terms..
Laura: I understand that.
Leo: Do you? So -- my career is real to you?
Laura: Yes.
Leo: No, I don't think so, Laura. As a matter of fact, I think you and your mom cooked up this whole let's-give-Leo-a-job thing just so you can keep me on a choke chain. Am I right?

Edmund: Stella, Stella, slow down. What about Anna? Well, she's free to go and come as she chooses. I see. All right, listen, it's not your problem. Don't worry about it. I'll see you at home.

Brooke: Edmund, is it "mischievous" "or mischievious"?
Edmund: Use your spell check. Brooke: Well, you're easier.
Edmund: You've heard that about me, huh?
Brooke: Uh-huh. I couldn't help but overhear about Anna. Is she back from New York?
Edmund: She's back and she's gone again. She packed her bags, grabbed Gabriel, and moved out of Wildwind.
Brooke: Where'd they go?
Edmund: Damned if I know.

David: Ms.. Devane. I prefer my shirts on a hanger. Medium starch.
Anna: I'm not here to pick up your laundry, Dr. Hayward.
David: Room service with a smile?
Anna: Speaking of which, don't you think you should put something on?
David: Don't look if it makes you nervous.
Anna: Not in the slightest.
David: Really? You break into my room, looking like you're about to steal one of my shirts. I catch you, and you're as cool as silk.
Anna: I'm a big girl. I've seen naked men before. Put that on.
David: What? You're not impress?
Anna: I'm not here to rate your anatomy. Though --
David: Then, why are you here?
Anna: My brother borrowed that medical book. I'm returning it. I didn't want you to think he'd stolen it.
David: No kidding?
Anna: So no harm done, then?
David: I'm curious. Why would your brother think that it was necessary to take one of my books? I'm sure Alex has an entire library for him to choose from.
Anna: I don't know. Maybe that one caught his eye.
David: You could have left it with the front desk.
Anna: I could have.
David: But you chose to break into my room just to play dress up with my shirt? And what about my underwear? Do they hold a personal fascination for you, as well?
Anna: Don't be ridiculous.
David: Well, it's kind of hard to be serious when I'm caught in the buff by a beautiful cat burglar.
Anna: I'm not a thief.
David: But you are a spy. Am I right? An ex-spy? Former high up in the WSB? Now, I would think that you're too good at this kind of thing to get caught. Unless --
Anna: Unless what?
David: Unless you wanted me to catch you. Is that your game, Anna?

Laura: That is not fair, Leo.
Leo: But is it true?
Laura: No. My mom did not hire you so we could keep a check on you.
Leo: No?
Laura: No. She says you have a future in publishing. She says that you spot trend six months before they happen.
Leo: Oh, did she?
Laura: Yeah, she says you're not a follower.
Leo: Well, that's something.
Laura: Yeah, yeah, it is something. My mom has an eye for fresh talent.
Leo: And the fact that I'm her son-in-law --
Laura: No, no. Come on, Leo. That's just a good way to get started. You have to be connected to get anywhere.
Leo: Hey, I'm cool with Brooke. And I'm glad that she gave me the opportunity here, and I'm going to bust my hump proving it.
Laura: So that's a good thing.
Leo: But it's a little hard to prove myself, Laura, when I have to come home every five minutes to baby-sit you.
Laura: Leo, I am not a baby.
Leo: Well, you act like one sometimes. Dragging me home from work just because you got into a little tiff with Bianca.
Laura: She said some very hurtful things to me.
Leo: Grow up. Get over it. Wait until after work to dump this stuff. You know what? Actually, don't dump it on me at all. Why don't you solve it yourself?
Laura: Leo, I needed you.
Leo: No, you didn't, Laura. What happened to the iron woman that I married? The one who fought like a tiger to survive?
Laura: I'm still here.
Leo: Where? Because the woman who called the 911 to me today was weak and she was whining and she was totally centered on herself.
Laura: I get scared when you're not here.
Leo: Why don't you get used to it? You're a big girl. Well --
Laura: You're my husband.
Leo: Yeah, I am. That's one of my jobs. Another one is making a living, trying to build a life for us, Laura. I thought that's what you wanted.
Laura: I do.
Leo: Well? I can't do that if I have to come back here to hold your hand every five minutes.
Laura: I just -- Leo, I get really lonely.
Leo: Well, uh -- I'm going to call Zora, then. Maybe she can come back to help --
Laura: No, no, no. No, no, Leo, don't call Zora.
Leo: Why not? She's great. She can keep you company when you're down and lonely.
Laura: Yeah, well, it's not company I'm lonely for. It's you. I miss you.

Greenlee: Don't you have some importing-exporting to do?
Roger: Work can wait. I think you need a loving dad now.
Greenlee: Any idea where I can find one?
Roger: Well, I guess I deserve that. I know I've caused you a world of hurt. But I think we both know someone who's hurt you as much if not more.
Greenlee: Not now, Daddy. Not with you.
Roger: Talking helps.
Greenlee: A double vodka would be better.
Roger: Is Leo still married to that girl? What's her name?
Greenlee: You mean that sucky little black hole? Yeah, they're still together, I guess. I don't keep tabs.
Roger: I blame myself, you know. If I hadn't brought Leo's ex-wife to town to stir things up, you two would be together by now.
Greenlee: Not one of your better moves, Daddy.
Roger: I was just afraid that he was going to break your heart.
Greenlee: My heart? Or my trust fund?
Roger: You know, Katerina was suicidal when Leo left her.
Greenlee: Yeah, well, Leo didn't love her.
Roger: He loved you.
Greenlee: He still does. He always will.
Roger: Leo will always need a fallback.
Greenlee: Do you think that's how he sees me?
Roger: Well, I hope --
Greenlee: This is not making me feel better, not at all.
Roger: You know, Sweetheart, I'm sorry, but Leo du Pres has always been a scoundrel and a user.
Greenlee: Not with me.
Roger: That's because I stopped it. It's because I took drastic action.
Greenlee: But why, Daddy? Why couldn't you just leave it alone?
Roger: Because you were too good for him, and I was not about to sit around and watch him take advantage of you.
Greenlee: Why can't you get it? Leo and I are a perfect match, Daddy. I'm no better than he is.

Brooke: So Anna left just like that - no notice, no good-bye -- no nothing.
Edmund: Looks like that.
Brooke: Pretty rude.
Edmund: Anna's a creature of impulse.
Brooke: Yeah? How long does it take to write a note?
Edmund: What's she going to write, a dear Edmund? She made it clear she doesn't see a future as a couple.
Brooke: Well, does that just entitle her to blow off your hospitality?
Edmund: You're angry, aren't you?
Brooke: Yes! You're damned right, I'm angry. You know, you -- you deserve better.
Edmund: In your opinion.
Brooke: In my opinion, and it happens to be a very popular opinion.
Edmund: Listen -- she's -- she's fine, and I'm fine. She didn't hurt my feelings, really. She had to move out of Wildwind. It makes sense, and it's Gabriel she has to be responsible for now.
Brooke: Yeah, well, if you ask me, she still took the coward's way out.
Edmund: Did I ask you?
Brooke: No.
Edmund: Feel like changing the subject?
Brooke: Yes.
Edmund: Feel like working?
Brooke: Ok.
Edmund: Good. Sharpen your pencils and listen up. I've got an idea that's going to cop us another Pulitzer.
Brooke: You already have one.
Edmund: Ok, so we'll share this one.
Brooke: Oh. Edmund: Working title -- "Adventures in the Drug Trade."

David: Come on, Anna, I'm sure you have a cover story in the event that you were caught. Or do you prefer a cyanide capsule?
Anna: You know, I can't take you seriously until you put something on.
David: All right.
David: There. Well, we're both undercover, so to speak. So tell me, why are you here?
Anna: I said -- my brother borrowed the book, and I was returning it.
David: Come on. I'm sure you can do a hell of a lot better than that. Are you working alone or did somebody send you?
Anna: And that someone would be --
David: Oh, I don't know. Your sister Alex. She hates my guts.
Anna: Oh, please. She has better things to do with her life.
David: All right. Well, then how about Tad? He also hates my guts.
Anna: You have quite a following, don't you?
David: They're just jealous. So you're working for Tad, then?
Anna: I barely know the man.
David: Oh, come on, Anna. Give me some kind of clue here. What are you looking for in my room, hmm? Illegal drugs? Cayman bank account? Signs of an illicit love affair?
Anna: Your ego. My God, it must take an enormous amount of care and attention.
David: Indulge me.
Anna: I can't satisfy your spy fantasy, I'm sorry. It's -- I'm going back to my room.
David: You're staying here at the Valley Inn?
Anna: Yeah. Doesn't everyone?
David: Well, then we're practically roommates.
Anna: Don't come knocking for sugar.
David: Anna, did you find what you came here looking for? Yes? No? Silence becomes you.
Anna: Good night, Dr. Hayward.
David: Wait. One more question. How did your meeting go with Robin in New York? Is your daughter well?

Roger: Sweetheart, you are a far better person than Leo du Pres, and you deserve much more than he's able to give you.
Greenlee: You don't even know me, Daddy.
Roger: Well, I know breeding. I know that Leo due Pres is a scoundrel and a user and a destroyer. You would never set out to deliberately hurt anyone.
Greenlee: I wish that were true.
Roger: It is true. I'm the loser in this family.
Greenlee: I'm right there with you.
Roger: What -- that is absolutely untrue.
Greenlee: No? I have never had a job or a relationship that lasted.
Roger: Well, your mother and I didn't exactly set a good example for you.
Greenlee: Your example was too good.
Roger: Too good to be true.
Greenlee: It doesn't matter. I wanted what I thought you had -- a world of your own, no need for anyone else.
Roger: Anyone? Like you, you mean?
Greenlee: Yeah, I didn't get it as a kid, but now I do. Just to be with that one person.
Roger: Leo?
Greenlee: Yes. And nothing you say will change that, ok?
Roger: Oh, boy, I have really been off base, haven't I?
Greenlee: About Leo? You bet.
Roger: About Leo, about everything that -- that's been important to you. When I think about how much I have neglected you -- when I think about how selfish and cruel and deceitful I have been --
Greenlee: Not if I'm not jumping in to stop you.
Roger: What kind of a father would loot his own daughter's trust fund? What kind of a father would lie and tell his own daughter that she was a mistake?
Greenlee: It was a lie?
Roger: Of course it was, Sweetheart. Mary -- your mother and I wanted children. When she told me that we were pregnant, we were overjoyed.
Greenlee: You were?
Roger: I remember when your mother told me we were going to have a child. We cried tears of joy. When I held you in my arms. for the first time, my life was complete. I had a sense of purpose. Greenlee, I loved you so much.
Greenlee: Then why -- why would you tell me I was a mistake? Why did you say such hateful, hurtful things?
Roger: Oh, Sweetheart, this is -- this is hard for me to admit. I -- I -- well, I wanted to push you away.
Greenlee: Why?
Roger: Because I -- I just wasn't good enough for you. When you -- when you came to me and you sat in my arms and you looked up at me with those big brown eyes as though I had all the answers for you, I couldn't bear it. I couldn't bear it because I knew that I was just a fake. And nobody -- believe me, Greenlee, you were far better off without me.
Greenlee: Isn't that for me to say?
Roger: But you were -- you were so young, you didn't know any better, and I was so fixated on finances and appearances. Believe me, Sweetheart, if I had it to do all over again, I would make you the center of my universe.
Greenlee: You would?
Roger: What a waste. I was just trying to spare you from having a nobody for a father.
Greenlee: Now I'm all grown up.
Roger: Yes, you are. And you still look at me with those big brown eyes, only you recognize me for the nobody I really am.
Greenlee: I see myself and all my mistakes. I guess I'm Daddy's girl, after all.

Leo: How -- how can you be lonely for me, Laura? I'm right here. We spend every night together. Every free moment.
Laura: I love you, Leo. I want to spend all my time with you.
Leo: That's impossible. That is unrealistic. I can't live up to your expectations.
Laura: You can. You do.
Leo: Then why don't you try living up to mine for a change?
Laura: I will do anything. Just tell me.
Leo: Oh, she wants me -- it's -- stop acting like a helpless, greedy child, or we're not going to make it.
Laura: Leo --
Leo: No, I mean it, Laura. You are throwing our life away. And what I don't get is, why? I mean, you look great. You're smart. You've got talent. You got a second chance at life. Why are you wasting it?
Laura: I'm not. I'm happy to be alive.
Leo: Well, that's interesting because you certainly don't show it. Instead, you spend your time stressing about me -- what I'm doing, where I'm at, who I'm with.
Laura: I'll stop. I'll stop if that's what you want.
Leo: It's not what I want that matters, Laura! It's what you want! Ooh! You have to make a life for yourself apart from mine and fill it up with things that matter to you.
Laura: I don't know what that is aside from you.
Leo: Well, then look back a couple of months -- when you were dying, you know -- bingo, you get the miracle heart. You know, you jumped right to the front of the transplant list.
Laura: I know all that, Leo.
Leo: Well, then -- but do you get it? Do you really get it? Because people died waiting for that heart! You got it. You were the lucky one. And what are you doing with the gift that Gillian gave you? The way you're living right now, you might as well be dead!
Laura: Why are you doing this? Leo, you're trashing me.
Leo: It's not you. It's your act. I don't mean to hurt your feelings, Laura. God, I hate seeing that.
Laura: Then stop it.
Leo: No. I'm going to say what I have to say, and you're going to hear it because this helpless routine of yours is happening because you have too much time on your hands.
Laura: Well, what am I supposed to do, Leo? I just had a heart transplant. It's not like I can go rock climbing.
Leo: But you don't have to risk your life to live it, Laura. Baby steps. Baby steps from here to the front door and out into the world.
Laura: And then what?
Leo: Whatever! Uh -- whatever, as long as it doesn't include obsessing about me.
Laura: Well, like what?
Leo: Well, you figure it out. What about college? I thought you got accepted to P.V.U.
Laura: Well, that was all before --
Leo: Well, you can still enroll. What's stopping you?
Laura: I can't handle the course load on top of being married and everything and --
Leo: Well, what about photography?
Laura: It's still there.
Leo: Well, when was the last time you picked up a camera and shot a roll?
Laura: I don't know.
Leo: It's been so long, you don't even remember, right? Do you remember this?
Laura: Yes. That's a present I gave you.
Leo: Yeah, it is a gift that you gave me. "Our story up until now." Look at all these other pages. They're all empty. We're going to fill them up, Laura. We can fill them up, and when this is empty -- when this is full, we can buy a new one.
Laura: I want to but --
Leo: But what?
Laura: But, Leo, the equipment is so heavy that when I lug it around and finally set up a shot, I'm wiped out.
Leo: Then go back to the hospital.
Laura: What?
Leo: Volunteer at the cardiac unit. Help people who are going through what you went through. Help them not to be so afraid. Show them how you stepped up to the challenge and you beat the odds.
Laura: But, Leo --
Leo: No "but, Leo," Laura. If you want to save this marriage, get out of your head and out into the world. It'll be good for you and it'll be good for the people that you're talking to because right now you're just a waste of skin. I mean it. Your heart's beating, but you're just taking up space. I got to go back to work.
Laura: Wait a minute, Leo. What time are -- what time are you going to be home?

Roger: Look at me for a minute.
Greenlee: What am I looking at, Daddy?
Roger: What if I said a new, improved me?
Greenlee: Don't you think that's exaggerating?
Roger: No. At least I hope it's not. Look, I know about the damage I've done.
Greenlee: Unlimited.
Roger: And I take full responsibility. But don't you think it's possible for an old leopard like me to change his spots?
Greenlee: Honestly?
Roger: Yeah.
Greenlee: I don't think people change, Daddy.
Roger: You don't think that there's any hope for me?
Greenlee: Or me, either.
Roger: I don't believe that. That -- that's why I got involved in this day-trading scheme, so that I could repay the trust fund.
Greenlee: Instead, you got me on Erica's spit list. Thanks for the payback.
Roger: I know, I know, and I regret that. I'm sorry I got you into trouble. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?
Greenlee: Stay away from Enchantment and Erica.
Roger: Done. Done and done. But I have a -- I have something else I'd like to talk to you about.
Greenlee: Is that my cue to flee?
Roger: Listen. What about if we tried to change our spots together?
Greenlee: Come on. Get real.
Roger: Oh, why does that seem so outrageous?
Greenlee: It's beyond outrageous, Daddy. It's impossible.
Roger: No, it's not. We'll -- we'll learn about it as we go along.
Greenlee: No, Daddy, you and me trying to make each other better people -- I mean, we wouldn't know where to start.
Roger: We'll -- we'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Don't you think it's worth a try?
Greenlee: Why not? Maybe we can change.
Roger: And who knows, maybe if we iron out our differences together, one day there might be hope for you and Leo.
Greenlee: Leo's really mad at me.
Roger: Sometimes time takes care of these things.
Greenlee: Maybe. Maybe if I go to Leo and make him see that I'm really changing, maybe it'll make a difference.

Anna: Well, I'm not going to discuss my daughter with you.
David: I'm not making small talk. I'm just concerned about Robin.
Anna: Why?
David: Well, I was there when you were talking to Jake about going to New York, remember? He was against it, I was for it.
Anna: And you think that entitles you to a conversation about my family?
David: No. I was just noticing how important it was for you to see your daughter.
Anna: Do you have children, Doctor?
David: No. At least none that I'm aware of.
Anna: So why the concern, then?
David: I don't know. I guess it was seeing your face light up when you talked about your daughter. Maybe I was envious.
Anna: I had to tell her her father's dead. I'm sure you don't envy me that.
David: I'm sorry.
Anna: Hmm. We had hoped that my -- Robert, her father, was alive. But he isn't.
David: And how did she take it?
Anna: Well, how do you think? It was hard.
David: I'm sure for both of you.
Anna: We'll carry on.
David: Oh, I have no doubt about that.
Anna: Robin's amazingly strong.
David: Just like her mother. Are you all right?
Anna: Yes, of course. Why?
David: You're flushed.
Anna: Am I?
David: Mm-hmm. I am a cardiologist, remember? I know the signs of physical distress.
Anna: Which are?
David: Rapid, shallow breathing, flushed capillaries.
Anna: What are you doing?
David: Just trying to take your pulse.
David: Your pulse is racing, like you've been running a long distance. What are you running from, Anna? And how did it bring you to my room?
Anna: I'm here because I am bloody bored right out of my skull.

Secretary: My, you can't just barge in here without being announced.
Greenlee: It's not like anyone's here.
Secretary: This is Ms.. English's private office.
Greenlee: I'm not going to steal office supplies. I just need to leave Leo a note.
Secretary: He's gone home for the day.
Greenlee: I know and I don't want to disturb him there.

Leo: Greenlee. What the hell are you doing back here?
Greenlee: Leo, I --
Leo: Aren't you done trashing my life?
Greenlee: I was just leaving you a note. I didn't want to bug you at home.
Leo: Come on. You're coming with me right now.
Greenlee: Leo, what are you doing? Let go of me!

[Phone rings]

Roger: Yeah? Yeah, I'm just going over the figures now. Now, look, the pressure is on me enough. You push me any further and this whole thing could blow up in our faces.

David: No, listen to me. I've already gone over this with you. You have to follow my instructions to the letter or else I can't be responsible for the consequences. You got that? Sorry about that. It's an occupational hazard with doctors. So you were saying --
Anna: I am so bored I'm about to go loco.
David: Hmm. Well, at least nobody's ever died of boredom.
Anna: You watch, I'll be the first.
David: You care to share your symptoms. with me?
Anna: What?
David: Symptoms., for boredom.
Anna: Well, I can't concentrate. And I have this nagging feeling that the world has gone on without me while my life stood completely still.
David: Well then I guess you just have to catch up.
Anna: You think?
David: What I'm saying is that you have to find out what you want to do and just do it.
Anna: I know what I don't want -- a life in the suburbs, tending flowers, tucking the kiddies into bed. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love kiddies, but -- it'd just be the same routine, day in, day out. I'd think I'd lose my mind -- what's left of it.
David: It looks like you need a challenge.
Anna: You know what I used to do when things got tame?
David: Oh, I don't know, break into people's hotel rooms.?
Anna: Yeah. I used to dive into my work. I'd find the toughest case possible, and I would live it, breathe it, 24/7. Hmm.
David: No time for recreation there, huh?
Anna: It was fun. It was fun. More than that, it was my reason for being.
David: Yeah. Take that away, you're left with nothing, right?
Anna: I have Robin. God knows I'm so grateful for that, but she has her own life now.
David: Now you're stuck here in Pine Valley singing the blues, huh?
Anna: Hmm.
David: Well, why don't you just go back to work for the WSB?
Anna: They won't have me.
David: You're kidding. Aren't you one of their top agents?
Anna: I used to be. But apparently now, the mucky-mucks, they think I'm too high profile to go undercover.
David: Hmm. Well, I guess I can see their point. Or maybe you've already been reinstated and you're just covering your tracks.
Anna: Oh, yeah, that's it. I'm spying on you.
David: You know something? The thought has crossed my mind.
Anna: Why? What have you got to hide? And what do you know about my life anyway? What if your world came to a screeching halt and you were forbidden from practicing medicine anymore, never to hold another beating heart in your hand? What would you do then, Doctor?
David: You like living on the razor's edge, don't you, Anna? Looking for excitement? Danger?
David: How about something forbidden?

Brooke: No, listen, getting back to the drug angle --
Edmund: Make a great cover story.
Brooke: I think it's been done to death.
Edmund: I disagree.
Brooke: Oh, yeah? Well, name me a celebrity who has not been through rehab. Mm-hmm.
Edmund: That's tabloid trash. I'm talking about real hard-core. Did you get soy sauce?
Brooke: There's too much sodium. How hard-core?
Edmund: I'm talking about informants, undercover, nailing sources.
Brooke: Oh, that sounds dangerous.
Edmund: Hey, we survived quicksand.
Brooke: Uh-huh. We were younger then.
Edmund: Speak for yourself.
Brooke: Edmund, "The New York Herald" just did a drug cartel story less than a month ago.
Edmund: This is local.
Brooke: Well, my gut doesn't go with it.
Edmund: Since when do you back away from a major story?
Brooke: I guess since it's a little too close to home.
Edmund: What, do you mean Laura?
Brooke: No, I -- you know. I think that Ecstasy business Is you know, behind her.
Edmund: So? There's still kids out there using and OD'ing.
Brooke: Yeah, all right. And parents who try to take the law into their own hands.
Edmund: What, do you mean Tad?
Brooke: Yes, Tad! When he found out about JR using drugs, he went after Sweeney. He was arrested as a suspect. He went on the lam, and Dixie went half crazy.
Edmund: So what happens? We do this story, we stir things up, he goes crazy again?
Brooke: I don't want it on my conscience, all right?
Edmund: So what do we do, we do a puff piece?
Brooke: No.
Edmund: Brooke, this business has risks and you know it.
Brooke: I know it. You know, Edmund, sometimes a no-news day is a good news day, you know? A day, a day -- just without war, without casualties, without kids dying, whatever.
Edmund: You're tired. Come on. Let me buy you a cup of green tea.
Brooke: Ooh. What, are you going to try and talk me into doing this story?
Edmund: Yeah, that's the idea.
Brooke: Good luck.
Edmund: Don't need it. Got this.
Brooke: What is that? Your fortune?
Edmund: Right.
Brooke: What does it say?
Edmund: It says, Edmund wins, Brooke loses."
Brooke: You are such a liar!
