ALL MY CHILDREN

SEPTEMBER 30, 1999

Liza: Why don't you just go? It's just a regular pediatrician appointment.
Adam: No, I am staying right here. I told Colby, I promised her that I would be with her all the way to keep that doctor from sticking her with one of those nasty needles.
Liza: Well, don't make a promise you can't keep.
Adam: Well, if he has to do it, I'll distract her by playing piggy with her toes. That way it won't hurt so much.
Liza: Well, you know what? I got a better idea. Why don't you just pay someone to take the shot for her?
Adam: Oh, if that would work, I'd do it myself.
Liza: I know you would. If we could only keep all the pain away from you your whole life.
Adam: We'll try to do that as much --
Jake: Liza, what's up? Something wrong with Colby?
Liza: No, no. Just a regular pediatrician appointment.
Jake: Oh. I didn't know.
Liza: Yeah.
Jake: You know, actually, have a new questions for that guy.
Adam: Hello, Jake.
Jake: Hi. So what time's the appointment?
Liza: 10 Minutes or so.
Jake: Good. I just have a couple of patients I need to see, and then I'll come right over, ok?
Liza: Don't. Not now.
Jake: Don't? What?
Liza: Don't come. Not this time.

Tad: Thanks, Peg.
Dixie: Hi. Brought you your lunch.
Tad: How sweet. It's kind of small. Am I on a diet?
Dixie: Very funny. Look inside.
Tad: Birth control?
Dixie: I had my prescription filled.
Tad: I'm sorry, honey. I know that must've been kind of tough for you.
Dixie: Now, I want you to know that you have nothing to worry about.
Tad: So, is that why you did this? So you could keep your word?
Dixie: No, I did it for us. Come on, we've waited long enough. What do you say -- you and me, noon, our bedroom? Meow?
Tad: You haven't stopped wanting a baby, have you?
Dixie: Not just a baby, honey -- our baby. The way I love you and the boys and our life together -- I still dream about having a baby. But I won't risk losing what we have.
Tad: Well, I'm sorry you have to sacrifice anything. I wish we lived in a perfect world where just the fact that I love you so much could solve all of our problems.
Dixie: Hey, you are my world. You know that.
Tad: Hmm.
Dixie: Like Dr. Rae said, we're the real thing, baby. Oh. Save me some of that for later.
Tad: No, wait just a sec. Not so fast. Are you sure it's ok for, you know --
Dixie: Oh, yes. Positive. Ok?
Tad: Cool.

Dixie: What?
Tad: How long you been there?
David: Not long. I didn't want to interrupt. Hi, Dixie.
Dixie: Hi, David.
David: I'm here to look at some talking heads for a medical segment that Tad is running.
Tad: Oh, that's right. You're early. I'll get you the tape. This will just take a minute.
Dixie: Ok, go look.
David: I got to give you and your husband a lot of credit.
Dixie: You do?
David: Mm-hmm.
Dixie: Why?
David: You and Tad make love seem so easy.

Erica: Gillian, hi.
Gillian: Erica.
Erica: Hello. Is Edmund home?
Gillian: I don't know.
Erica: Well, we're here to take Maximillian. Dimitri's horse?
Gillian: I thought he had already been taken.
Erica: No, no, it just takes ages, you know, to make these kinds of arrangements. It's not an easy project, transporting a prize thoroughbred.
Gillian: He was supposed to go to Bianca, right?
Erica: Yes. Yes, that's right. Look, if Edmund arrives, just tell him that we're in the stables, ok? We go this way.
Gillian: Erica, wait.
Erica: Yes, Gillian, what is it?
Gillian: Could you just please wait for Edmund? I'm sure that he'd want to talk to you.
Erica: What's wrong, Gillian? Are you still grieving? You know Dimitri wouldn't want to see you like this. You know that. He'd want you to move on. You know, he's been gone for quite some time already.
Gillian: I'm just going to go get Edmund.

Erica: Edmund, hi. Hi. I'm here for Maximillian.
Edmund: Yeah, I saw the horse trailer outside. Hello, Erica. Listen, I'm sorry. It just completely slipped my mind. I didn't call you.
Erica: What? What about? What happened?
Edmund: Would you please excuse us? I'll make sure you're paid for your time.
Erica: No, don't send them away. Are you going to tell me that Alex has changed her mind about Bianca having Dimitri's horse? Because you know that I will not accept that.
Edmund: No, Erica, that's not it. It's -- I'm sorry, but I had to put Maximillian down.
Erica: What? Are you saying that Maximillian is dead? How did this -- how did this happen? This horse was gorgeous and healthy and strong.
Edmund: I know, I know. He wasn't sick. It was an accident.
Erica: An accident? An accident how? Was someone riding him at the time? Who? A stable hand?
Edmund: No, I don't have a stable hand that would do something so stupid and careless.
Erica: Well, whoever it was has got to somehow pay for this somehow. Dimitri would be ruthless with anyone who harmed -- who destroyed Maximillian.
Alex: I'm responsible, Erica. I was riding Maximillian when he broke his leg.
Erica: How did this accident happen? What kind of a reckless stunt were you involved in when you did this?
Alex: It was an accident. I can't tell you what happened exactly. I was riding blindly, trying to drive the pain out of my head.
Erica: Oh, I see. Because you were upset, you took it out on this beautiful animal? Dimitri has been dead for weeks. Have you been riding this horse like this for weeks?
Edmund: Listen, Erica, I'm going to tell you the whole story.
Erica: Please.
Edmund: When you hear it, you will understand why so few people have known.
Erica: What is it?
Edmund: Dimitri didn't die at Seaview hospital.
Erica: All right. Where did he die?
Edmund: Look, he had a -- he was ill. He had a debilitating neurological disease and he had a relapse on that plane, but he survived.
Erica: He -- are you saying that Dimitri is alive?
Edmund: No. He was taken to Seaview hospital. He was isolated, and then he was given experimental drugs and procedures, which worked in the beginning, but then ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Erica: Unsuccessful how, Edmund? Is he brain-dead? Is he comatose?
Edmund: No, Erica. He was lucid and he was talking.
Erica: Did you see him?
Edmund: Yes. No, but the treatment stopped working and he became incoherent from the medication.
Erica: Please, Edmund, take me to him.
Edmund: I -- I wish I could. But he left the hospital and he disappeared.
Erica: He disappeared? How?
Edmund: We found his robe -- ahem -- on the beach, and it looks like he walked into the ocean. And we haven't had a sign of him since.
Erica: No, Edmund, what are you saying? Because the only that proves is that he's missing. And he may be trying to find his way back to us right now.
Gillian: Right, that's exactly what I'm saying.
Erica: Yes!
Edmund: I wanted to believe that, too. But he knew where we were.
Erica: No, maybe he didn't, I mean, if he was so disoriented. Look, you called the Coast Guard, right? They're looking for him, aren't they?
Alex: No, they're not -- not anymore.
Erica: Well, why not? They have to be.
Alex: Well, it's been over 48 hours. I spoke with Capt. Miller and he's calling off the rescue mission.
Erica: That's ridiculous. I don't care if it's been weeks.
Alex: They feel that it is beyond the time where they can reasonably expect to find Dimitri.
Erica: Are you saying that he drowned? They think he's drowned? You don't believe that, do you, Edmund?
Edmund: I believe that he -- ahem -- that this was a senseless accident that could have been prevented.
Gillian: No, he could still be out there. He could still be alive!
Erica: Yes, of course he could be. He could swim for miles.
Alex: No, he couldn't! Not anymore. He'd been in a coma for weeks. Erica, the captain said that the currents are very strong around the beach, and that in all likelihood Dimitri was dragged under and carried out to sea.
Erica: I don't believe that for a minute. He didn't know Dimitri.
Alex: But I did, and I'm afraid that may have well been what he wanted.
Erica: What?
Alex: Relief from pain, oblivion. He'd just undergone an invasive medical procedure and he was suffering terribly. Illness can destroy a person's spirit. It can make life unbearable.
Erica: You are unbearable. Time and time again, you have proven to us that you do not know Dimitri. You never knew Dimitri. Dimitri was not a coward. And he would never hurt us by -- his life or deliberating taking his life. Is that what you're saying? If Dimitri is gone -- if -- then I hold you and you alone responsible.

Grace: I called my old friend Pru. She lives just outside of Phoenix now, and she said she's heard of the law firm that offered you the partnership. She says everyone has.
Belinda: Yeah, well, Ben Hartman has done a lot of groundbreaking work. His cases set precedents and --
Grace: That sounds exactly right for you. What? Is there a dark cloud behind this silver lining?
Belinda: Well, for one thing, they want me to start next week.
Grace: So soon?
Belinda: Yeah.
Grace: That doesn't give you any time at all. Well, luckily, I can take some time off this week, help you pack.
Belinda: Aunt Grace, it sounds like you're in a real hurry to get rid of me.
Grace: Oh. Baby, you know I'm going to miss looking at that sweet face of yours, but I thought this was a celebration. What's the problem? Ah. Mr. Sword. But I just assumed you'd come some kind of modern, jet-plane sort of agreement.
Belinda: No, aunt Grace, there's no agreement.
Grace: But you've told him about the job offer, haven't you?
Belinda: Yep. I told him.
Grace: Well? What does he say?

Opal: You could have knocked me over with a soggy taco with this invitation to lunch.
Adrian: Well, can't I invite you to lunch once in a while?
Opal: Once in a while?
Adrian: All right, all right. There's a first time for everything.
Tina: I'll give you a couple of minutes.
Opal: Oh, I don't think we need any time -- or I don't, anyway. I've been dreaming of your Tex-Mex burger since I got this invite. Just don't be stingy with the guacamole.
Tina: No way, Jose. And for the handsome gentleman?
Adrian: I'll have a cappuccino, thank you.
Tina: A cappuccino?
Adrian: Yeah. Is there a problem?
Tina: No. No problem.
Opal: You counting calories?
Adrian: Shh. So tell me, how's Petey enjoying the new school year?
Opal: Well, you know he's already in love with his new teacher, and he loves computer lab. You guys are going to be swapping software in no time. All right, enough with the intro. Let's get down to brass tacks. This confab is about Belinda's new job in Tucson, isn't it?
Adrian: She told you about that?
Opal: She didn't have to. She was over yesterday for a seaweed body scrub. The word spread like wildfire.
Adrian: Well, I mean, don't you think it's great? A very prestigious law firm, a partnership. Couldn't get any better than that.
Opal: Yeah, it could. You could go with her.

Jake: Why, what's going on? I'd like to go to her checkup.
Adam: Liza, if he wants to stay, it's --
Liza: No. I tell you what -- why don't you put us on the admitting list? That way they won't skip over us.
Adam: There's no need to make an issue of this.
Liza: I want to talk to Jake.
Adam: Yeah. Ok.
Liza: Bye-bye. See you later.
Adam: Bye-bye.
Jake: You know, every day it's something new with him, but you? I don't get it. Now you don't want
me to go her checkup? Liza: I just -- I want you to give us a little bit of space so that Adam can be a father, too.
Jake: He's going to -- no, he's not her father. I'm her father.
Liza: Jake, you're Colby's biological father. Nothing, nobody can take that away from you. Colby is a Martin, and every day when I think of Joe and Ruth as her grandparents, I think she's the luckiest girl alive. And you take advantage of it.
Jake: Wha-- how?
Liza: Yes, you show up at all hours to see her, and I let you see her. You take her on days that aren't your days to see her. Now, if you were my ex-husband instead of my good friend and sperm donor, you would never get away with it.
Jake: Well, as far as I'm concerned, the more she spends as a Martin, the better for her. You just said that --
Liza: You are not making it a comfortable place at home.
Jake: I'm -- Adam's level of comfort is not my concern.
Liza: Well, it should be because Adam is my husband, and Colby is going to live under his roof for a lot of years, Jake. Now, we have a very important choice. We can either let Colby grow up in a house where there's this stranger and she's afraid of him, or we can give him a little space and let him show her some love and some genuine affection.
Jake: Hmm. Hmm. You're pulling that wisdom of Solomon thing on me. I know it. All right, fine, fine. Ok. Go, go to the appointment. But please, call me later, tell me what he says.
Liza: I will. You're a very wise father.

Dixie: I'm sorry. Hearing you talk about the mysteries of love -- you know, it's not exactly what I expect.
David: Hmm. Well, I was merely speculating that when two people are truly in love, they seem to become another entity, something separate from themselves. I mean, there's Dixie, a warm, generous woman. And then there's Tad -- someone who looks really good on television. And then there's Tad and Dixie -- something that's solid, real.
Dixie: Well, it's obvious that you're not up on your Pine Valley history because Tad and I haven't always been so solid and real, you know. In fact, I think this is the third and, hopefully, final attempt at our being Mister and Mrs.
David: No, I understand that, but now you have it working and it seems so effortless. Most of us mere mortals can never hope to have that kind of connection. It just seems tenuous, complicated.
Dixie: Believe me, Tad and I are very mortal. I don't think it's supposed to be easy, though, you know? I think it's just supposed to be right. I'm wondering if all of these observations of yours are so objective and scientific as you say.
David: Of course they are.
Dixie: Really? There's not some more personal reason you want to know about falling in love?
David: Hey, all right, wait a minute. It was because I walked in on the two of you.
Dixie: No, there's somebody new in your life, isn't there? I can tell. Come on. David and -- somebody?

Alex: Everything I did I did according to Dimitri's wishes. He did not want to be seen when he was suffering. I know that it is so difficult to understand.
Erica: No, it's very easy to understand. You just wanted Dimitri for yourself.
Alex: I was treating him. I did not want him disturbed or agitated in any way.
Erica: Well, then where was his nurse? Why wasn't someone watching him more carefully? You're his doctor. Why was he allowed to wander out of the hospital?
Alex: He didn't wander anywhere. He climbed out the window.
Erica: Why wasn't someone with him? Why weren't you with him when he clearly didn't know what he was doing?
Alex: I'm not asking you to believe anything you don't want to believe. You can keep your rosy memories of Dimitri -- and God bless you, I envy you -- but I was with him when he was ill and suffering and I saw what was in his eyes.
Erica: And where were you when he climbed out of the hospital window? What did you see, Edmund? What did you see when you looked in Dimitri's eyes?
Edmund: I saw a man who was slipping away, and that's why I planned to take him here, so I could comfort him at Wildwind.
Erica: Well, why didn't you?
Edmund: Because I wanted to respect his wife and his doctor's wishes.
Erica: Even though she's lied to us?
Edmund: I know, I know. But at the time -- Erica, it's complicated, but when I saw how unstable he was, it kind of made sense.
Erica: Edmund, how could it? And how did you find out that he was alive?
Edmund: Well, you know how suspicious I've been of Alex. A lot of what she has said hasn't made a lot of sense. So one day I got a little drastic and I opened up his casket.
Erica: You opened up his casket?
Edmund: He wasn't there, Erica. It was empty.
Erica: I'm sorry. I just don't even begin to understand how you can allow this woman in your house.
Alex: Believe me, I have no intention of staying here much longer.
Edmund: Well, that's fine. That's your choice. I'm not going to stop you. You're Dimitri's wife, and he loved you.
Erica: Oh, no. No. That he couldn't have done.
Edmund: Erica, he did. He told me. Of course, he was ill and disoriented at the time.
Alex: Oh, how dare you doubt my husband's love for me.
Erica: Because he was my husband, too.
Alex: Yes, he was. You were married to him twice, but you were also divorced from him twice. At least I managed to keep him happy in his last days.
Edmund: Yeah, until you let him walk into the ocean.
Erica: Yes, exactly. So much for your great love.
Alex: This is so unfair. It would have been so easy for me to walk away from Dimitri when he became ill --
Erica: All I know is I have come here --
Alex: Just wash my hands of him.
Erica: Each time, it's more and more incriminating information about you.
Gillian: Stop it! For God's sake, stop I how many times do we have to lose Dimitri before we can respect his memory?
Gillian: You're all being selfish. This isn't about Dimitri. You're blaming each other and pointing fingers at each other to make yourself feel better. I mean, you -- Alex and Edmund -- you've been at it all day, throwing ugly accusations at each other and nasty looks. And you, Erica, you marched in here like you did once before and just claiming Dimitri all for yourself and going on about this love.
Erica: No, Gillian. You just don't know everything about --
Gillian: No, what I know is if you -- all of you want to argue about who loved Dimitri more, who loved his horse more, then you didn't love him very much.
Alex: You're right. I should never have allowed myself to get caught up in all this pettiness.
Gillian: We all loved Dimitri very much and none of us wanted any harm to come to him.
Erica: Gillian, you have a very forgiving nature. But this is not the time to forgive. I have no intention of forgetting what I learned here today.

Grace: Honey, Adrian Sword may be the most desirable man the good lord ever made, but he's still a man. He won't volunteer to disrupt his life and follow you. You're going to have to ask him.
Belinda: Aunt Grace, I don't want to ask him. No, no, I do want him to come with me. That's not what I meant. But I do want him to volunteer.
Grace: Well, you said he was supportive.
Belinda: Yeah, yeah, he said all the right things, congratulations, said he was proud of me, but -- Grace: But he didn't ask you to turn down the job and stay here in Pine Valley.
Belinda: Course not.
Grace: Well, what do you think that means?
Belinda: I wish I knew.

Adrian: This is ice-cold.
Tina: You wanted it hot? The truth is I'm afraid of that steam spout thingy. I'll try again.
Opal: Ooh. So, where were we?
Adrian: Oh, I was telling you about the new job offer -- Belinda.
Opal: Oh, Lord. Oh, Lord. Men. The question on the table is, are you going with her?
Adrian: She hasn't asked me to.
Opal: You're the man. You're supposed to do the asking.
Adrian: Look, Opal, you know, I really don't see myself living in the desert, all right?
Opal: Oh. So it's the weather that concerns you.
Adrian: It's several things. I mean, I didn't realize I was going to have to make this decision so soon, you know? I mean, I'm just getting a chance to really know you and tad and Petey. I was kind of getting comfortable.
Opal: What, you mean you decided to put down roots here in Pine Valley?
Adrian: No, no. Actually, I haven't decided anything. It's just -- that's the way things seemed to happen. For once, I was -- things were kind of going the way I wanted them to and I was kind of coasting.
Opal: I guess that leaves it up to Belinda, then.
Adrian: Leaves what up to Belinda?
Opal: Well, aren't you going to ask her to pass on this offer and stay here with you?
Adrian: No. Why would I want to do that? This is a great job offer and she really wants this.
Opal: Well, that brings you to the million-dollar question. With you here and Belinda in Tucson, are you prepared to call this quits?

Dixie: Come on, fess up. You can tell me. All this thinking about love is really because there's some lucky lady in your life, right? Is there? Oh, I sound so much like Opal. I'm so sorry.
David: You should be. Get off my back.
Dixie: Oh, well, all right. Well, is there?
David: The answer to your question is maybe. Unfortunately, she's already taken.
Dixie: Aw.
David: Uh-oh.
Dixie: What?
David: [Imitates Tad] How long have you been standing there?
Tad: Here's what we talked about. Want you to take a look at what the experts have to say. If you got anything brilliant to add, we can put you on tape.
David: [Normal voice] mm-hmm. Ok, I'll get back to you in two days or so. See you, lovebirds.
Dixie: Bye, David.
David: Take it easy.
Dixie: Ok.

Tad: So? Dixie: Well, I should let you get back to work, right?
Tad: Mm-hmm.
Dixie: See you in a half-hour.
Tad: If not sooner.

[Jake answers phone]

Jake: Yeah, It's Martin.
Tad: Hey, you busy?
Jake: Lunch.
Tad: No, I just thought I'd pick your brain.
Jake: Pick away.
Tad: I'm doing a segment on heart disease. It turns out it's, like, the number one killer of women in America.
Jake: Yeah.
Tad: Yeah, well, I'm looking at this questionnaire filled out by women who all were taken to an emergency room complaining of chest pains, and half -- over half of them, actually, stated that they felt their complaints weren't taken seriously. Is that your experience?
Jake: My exp-- what, you think I'm going to tell a woman that it's all in her head?
Tad: Relax, Dr. Kildare. I'm not talking about you personally.
Jake: Look, man or woman, I treat all my patients' complaints very seriously, Tad.
Tad: Well, that's terrific. I'm glad to hear it. You want to come on the show and throw a chair at me?
Jake: I'm sorry. I'm just in kind of a rotten mood right now.
Tad: No kidding. What's your problem?
Jake: Liza. She called me out on the carpet for spending too much time with Colby. She thinks I'm overstepping my boundaries.
Tad: Well, that's a hell of an about-face. Why the change?
Jake: Adam. She says he needs more daddy time. So I said I would back off a little.
Tad: No way. You're not going to do it.
Tad: If you're not careful Adam's going to have Colby evicting widows and orphans before she can walk.
Jake: You're right. I can't back down when it comes to my daughter.
Tad: Well, speak of the devil. Liza just walked in.
Liza: Sorry I'm late. Pediatrician.
Jake: Hey, Tad, this is between Liza and me, so keep your mouth shut, all right?
Tad: Yeah, that's nice. Bye.

Liza: Who was that?
Tad: Jake.
Liza: Oh. I just had a long talk with him.
Tad: Yeah, so I heard. I take it you were able to swing him around to your point of view on things.
Liza: He's a pretty reasonable person.
Tad: Well, lucky for Jake he's got a brother who isn't.

Erica: So that proves that Alex Devane is responsible for Dimitri's death.
Myrtle: Darling, are you sure? Have you told me the whole story?
Erica: Yes, of course I have. That's it. She was his doctor. She was in charge. And yet he was left totally alone, completely disoriented. How did he even get to the beach, Myrtle? She neglected him.
Myrtle: Darling, how did you come to such a conclusion?
Erica: I don't know how you can even ask me that.
Myrtle: Because what you just told me -- it's tragic, but, darling, when we sat down at the stable, I believed that Dimitri was gone from us forever. And that is still the case, and that is all that should concern you.
Erica: Well, if that horrible woman could have saved him and didn't, Myrtle --
Myrtle: But, darling, Edmund can deal with that if necessary. I think your best advice is to stay out of it.
Erica: Myrtle, I'm part of the family.
Myrtle: Oh, darling, no. No, you are not. You're Dimitri's ex-wife -- twice his ex-wife. That is it.
Erica: I just don't understand that. I'm sorry. I don't know how you can even begin to talk me like that when you know what Dimitri was to me.
Myrtle: Oh, darling, of course. Of course I know what Dimitri was to you. But, you know, sometimes I think that in the back of your head you think, well, if everything else didn't work, someday, someday, perhaps, you and Dimitri would sit side by side in your deck chairs.
Erica: Myrtle, that is not even partially true.
Myrtle: Darling, I think it is time for you to say good-bye to Dimitri once and for all.
Erica: I did. And then all this happened.
Myrtle: Then do it again. And while you're at it, say good-bye to David Hayward.
Erica: Myrtle! Shh.
Myrtle: Are you still trying to keep this affair a secret?
Erica: Myrtle, frankly, I don't even know how you can mention Dimitri's name in the same breath with David Hayward.
Myrtle: Because you are making that connection in your head.
Erica: What?
Myrtle: Look, you haven't got Dimitri. And actually, being you, you want to be sure that there is a man to love you.
Erica: You know something, Myrtle? That just is not true. I don't love David Hayward. I just -- we're just having a good time. We're just enjoying ourselves, if you really have to know.
Myrtle: Darling, you're not a just-fun girl. You never have been. You've got an awful lot of love to give from that great big heart of yours, and you're always looking to get some back.
Erica: All right. All right, that's true. And what's wrong with that? And what makes you so sure that David Hayward can't love?
Myrtle: Darling, just as I know that this diamond is made of paste, I know that David Hayward will never give you the real thing. And when this wonderful, wonderful affair of yours goes up in flames, he will know how to take care of his own heart. But that is one thing that you do not have in your many, many gifts.

Alex: Let's go for a walk, love. It'll do you good -- both of us.
Gillian: I can't! I just -- I can't be strong anymore! Grandmama needs me and I'm just afraid!
Edmund: Ok, Eugenia understands. We all do.
Alex: It's all right, darling.
Gillian: No, you know what? It's not all right! Nothing is all right! I want to go to Dimitri, but he's not there. I want to go to Ryan, but he's not there. He can't hold me. I'm just -- you know, I'm just, like, alone in this world, and I'm really scared!
Alex: Shh.

Myrtle: It's so good for my heart to know that you still have to come and talk to me sometimes. And I just hope that what I tell you goes through that beautiful head of yours.
Erica: It does. You know it does.
[Telephone rings]

Erica: Excuse me. I think that's me. Palmer? The Greenlee's? Well, where's Vanessa, Palmer? Zurich? Are you sure? Ok. All right. Yes, I can do that, Palmer. Yes, yes, I will. I'll be ready. Oh, Palmer, you are so in my debt already. Bye. Sorry. I have to leave. I just agreed to accompany Palmer to some socialite's party. Will you be all right?
Myrtle: Yes. Yes, I'll be fine. Off you go.
Erica: Ok. Oh, Myrtle. I love you.
Myrtle: I love you.
Erica: I wouldn't take all this from just anybody.
Myrtle: I know, I know. Did she say socialist party? Oh, no.

Grace: In other words, you have no idea at all where you and Adrian stand at this time.
Belinda: Well, when you came in, I was wondering if I should call Ben and turn down the offer, stay in Pine Valley.
Grace: That's an interesting scenario. Let's see where it takes us. You give up the job offer of a lifetime and stay here in town. What happens then? Does Adrian marry you?

Adrian: I guess I really don't want what Belinda and I have to end.
Opal: But you're not ready to make it permanent?
Adrian: How can I make that decision in a week?
Opal: Well, some people make it in a heartbeat. What are you waiting for?
Adrian: I don't know. I'm not sure. I just -- I just thought that I would have more time.
Opal: Well, maybe this is the big guy upstairs giving you a wake-up call. I mean, if you don't step up to the plate, take some action, that terrific woman could just walk out of your life for good.
Adrian: Opal, it's not like Tucson's out of my life. I mean, really, it's plane ride away.
Opal: Oh, please. It is a heck of a lot further
away than that, you can be sure. Tina: Here's your cappuccino. I started over. Be careful. It's hot. Don't burn your mouth.
Opal: Thanks, honey.
Adrian: I'll be careful. It's a lifetime habit.

Gillian: You know, if only there could be peace now, if we could support each other as a family --
Alex: I think that's a very good idea. I, for one, would like there to be peace in this family. Wouldn't you?
Edmund: Gillian, I -- I agree. It does no good to lose your temper. And I will try to keep mine in check, for the family's sake.
Gillian: Thank you.

[Colby fusses]

Adam: Ok. Time to go.
David: How'd you pull it off, Adam?
Adam: What now, Hayward?
David: Oh, come on. Adam, you know what I'm talking about. You dodged another bullet with that stem cell therapy situation.
Adam: The cells matched. That's all they needed. No more tests required.
David: Hmm. Lucky you. Although, there are still a few of us that know your nasty little secret.
Adam: Liza and I are happy now. We're a family. You promised you'd keep your mouth shut.
David: Yeah, you're right. I did promise that I would keep my mouth shut. But I never said till death do you part.

Tad: You are one of the most brilliant, talented, intelligent people I've ever met in my entire life, but when it comes to your husband, you haven't got the brains God gave geese. Somehow he just sucks you into his little rap.
Liza: I am perfectly capable of protecting my own daughter.
Tad: Well, it's a good thing you don't have to do it alone.
Liza: I appreciate that, Tad.
Tad: No, you don't understand. That's not a friendly offer. I just want to give you a warning.
Liza: A warning?
Tad: Yeah. Neither Jake nor I trust you to stand up to Adam when it comes to children. I don't care what Adam says. I'm going to keep an eye on Junior. And no matter what you think you were able to convince Jake of, he's not going to back off on Colby.
